Chapter 5: Blitzo's Mission

Back in Blitzo's house, thunder still rolled, lighting up an article next to Blitzo's portrait of Valentino. It read: VALENTINO ELUDES POLICE!

"This case is most intriguing with its multiplicity of elements," Blitzo mused as he paced back and forth in the living room. "Its many twists and turns." He turned to Octavia. "Now, you're certain you've told me everything?" He pointed his pipe at her. "The slightest detail may be important."

"It's just as I said," Octavia explained, "And then my father was gone."

Blitzo placed the pipe in his mouth, smoking it.

"What do you make of it, sir?" Moxxie inquired.

Blitzo took his pipe out of his mouth and muttered, "Valentino's up to something." He went upstairs and Octavia went after him. "A crime of the most sinister nature, no doubt." He didn't see the girl walk behind him as he continued his thoughts. "The question is...What would he want with a Goetia?" He continued to smoke his pipe to help him think.

Just as Octavia was about to follow him once more, lightning struck again as she watched a robot who hung upside down through the window, grinning at her. It was the robot who kidnapped Octavia's father. As lightning struck, Octavia let out a terrified scream, alerting Blitzo.

Her scream frightened the robot and he fell until he was out of sight.

"Quickly, M and M!" Blitzo said as he opened the front door, where they entered before. "We've not a moment to lose!" He sprinted outside with Moxxie and Millie following close behind him.

"W-W-We're right behind you Blitzo!" stuttered Moxxie.

As Blitzo, Moxxie, and Millie went outside, Octavia went over to Megan for comfort.

Once outside, Blitzo was disappointed to see Fizzarolli gone.

"No sign of the blackguard anywhere," Millie said, adjusting her coat.

"Not quite, Moxxie and Millie," corrected Blitzo as he got on his knees and hands to see a trail of footprints. "He left some rather unusual footprints." The footprints were muddy. "They obviously belong to the same fiend who abducted the girl's father. Valentino's robot jester lackey."

Moxxie picked up a cap. "Uh, Blitzo?"

Seeing the piece of evidence in the weapon ologist's hand, Blitzo snatched it from him. "A-ha!" Blitzo exclaimed. He examined it with his magnifying glass. "Excellent work, old man!" He chortled and rushed to the house, with Moxxie and Millie following him.

"Now, there's nothing to be afraid of, my dear," Megan assured as she patted the little girl's head.

At the sound of footsteps, Megan pulled Octavia away, so that Blitzo could sprint through the entryway as he held the robot's hat as evidence, much to the nurse's annoyance for nearly running over them.

"What the hell, Blitzo?" Megan demanded, "You almost ran us over!"

"Blitzo, watch where you're going?" Riva chided.

Blitzo ignored them and continued running towards a closet.

"You okay, Octavia?" Curly asked, "My dad's full of energy."

"Yeah, I'm fine," Octavia replied.

"I'm sorry that mean jerk scared you."

The last imps who came in were Moxxie and Millie. "The scoundrel's quite gone," Moxxie said.

"Ah-ah-ah!" Blitzo said, holding a finger in the air as he held onto Fizzarolli's hat and took off his robe. "But not for long, Miss Goata!"

"GOETIA!" Octavia snapped indignantly for mispronouncing her surname when her father was gone.

"Whatever," Blitzo said. "Now." Blitzo thrust his robe somewhere and seized his navy blue tuxedo from a grandfather clock, putting it on. "We simply pursue our robotic friend until he leads us to the girl's father."

This changed Octavia's mood and she asked with joy before hopping on him for a hug, "Then you'll get my daddy back?"

"Yes," Blitzo gasped as if she was squeezing him too hard. He gave Octavia a "get off me" look as he slunk her down to the floor. "And quite soon, if I'm not quite mistaken." Blitzo fixed his tie as Octavia smiled up at him, relieved he was going to help save her father.

"Now, hurry along, Moxxie and Millie!" Blitzo said as he grabbed onto his navy blue tuxedo from the imp shining armor and put it on. "We must be off to...Spindle's."

"Spindle's?" Moxxie and Millie asked.

Blitzo buttoned his coat. "Oh, you must meet him." He took his deerstalker hat that matched the color of his coat from the imp armor helmet and set it on his head. "He's just the chap for this."

"You...Y-Y-You want us to come?" Moxxie asked, touched by his offer.

"Ha." Blitzo blew on his magnifying glass and wiped it with his sleeve. "I should think a stout-hearted army imp like you and your wife would leap at the chance for adventure." He playfully poked Moxxie and Millie in the stomach with his magnifying glass.

Moxxie and Millie chuckled. "Oh, well, I-I-I am rather curious."

"Same," Millie said.

"Wait for me!" Octavia exclaimed, grabbing onto her hat, which was stuck to Blitzo's violin. "I'm coming, too!" She snatched onto her tam-o-shanter, making the violin jiggle as it nearly hit the floor.

"Me, too, Dad!" Curly shouted, putting on his coat, hat, and scarf.

Luckily, Blitzo was able to catch his prized possession in time. "What? Certainly not." He set his violin back on his red chair. "This is no business for children."

"Are we going to take a cab?" Octavia asked innocently and curiously, wondering why he'd leave them and she grabbed some cupcakes for the road.

Blitzo rubbed his temples and calmly explained, "My dears." He took each of them by the hands. "I don't think you understand. It will be quite dangerous." Without warning, the imp boss sat on his own violin, making the strings twang and he gasped.

Octavia glanced at Blitzo worriedly.

Blitzo groaned as he got off his broken violin. "Why you? Look what-"

"Blitzo, knock it off!" Riva reprimanded, "You've done this to yourself."

"Keep out of this, Riva!" Blitzo snapped.

Riva knelt down to the kids' level, whispering, "Get behind me, kids. This can get ugly."

Blitzo tensed and sharply took a breath to compose himself and did his best to control his temper. "Young lady and young man!" he said in a strangely sweet voice and harshly added haughtily, "You are most definitely NOT accompanying us! And that is FINAL!" With that, he childishly stomped around.

"Dad, take a chill pill!" Curly scolded.

"He's right, Blitzo, you're acting like a child, so I suggest you control your temper!" Riva crossed her arms.

Blitzo knew he was in the wrong, but didn't care to admit it. "Riva, you and the kids must stay here."

"Well, what if Fizzarolli comes back and kidnaps our son and the Goetia's daughter, too?"

"Uh…"

Moxxie and Millie scowled at the imp and Megan did the same.

"Your wife has a point, Blitzo," Moxxie said, "That creepy robot could come back and steal the kids like he did to Octavia's father and you should know better than to blame the poor girl, your wife, and son for breaking your violin."

"Riva, good job for defending your son and Octavia," Millie said, putting a hand on Riva's shoulder.

"Thank you," Riva sighed with relief, knowing Moxxie and Milie were both on her side.

"If you don't let Curly, Octavia, and Riva join your case, I'm going to destroy your chemistry set or break the remains of your violin!" Megan threatened.

"You wouldn't dare!" Blitzo scoffed, but regretted it when she nearly tore his violin in half, making him gasp in shock. "Okay! Okay!" To his wife, he added, "Riva, you're in charge of Octavia and our son."

"You got it, Blitzo," Riva said.

"Mind if I tag along in case something goes wrong, Blitzo?" Loona asked.

"Sure, Loonie," Blitzo told her, "I'm sure you'd be a good help to the children and M and M, here." Then, he, Riva, and their adopted daughter, Loona led Curly, Octavia, and the imp couple out of the house.
