Back with the second chapter. Going to change the rating to 'M' from here on.
One thing I want to try and show in this story is the contrast with how the characters handle themselves in an AVP story and a zombie apocalypse story in the Manga/Anime.
In the Manga/Anime, the characters can relatively handle themselves against zombies with not too much trouble. Saeko admits that she enjoys beating the crap out of zombies, Kohta is a gun expert and can double-tap zombies with no trouble.
Against Aliens/Xenomorphs, Takashi and Saeko are really going to struggle and get decimated here and there. Horror will really take over and they got to dig in deep however they can.
Saeko's sadism shtick is going to get humbled in a way, it may be effective against zombies but not with Xenomorphs. Because let's face it, Xenomorphs are ten times worse than zombies.
Please enjoy and please leave a review.
H.O.T.D: AVP 2
Busujima Saeko stirred and her eyes opened. Blinking a few times to clear her vision, she sucked in a lung full of air. Her head seemed to be nestling on something soft, or at least harder than the metal from the bus. Lifting her head up, she realised she has been laying on top of Kumoro Takashi's chest. She rolled off Takashi and laid on her side next to him, she endured the pain coursing through her body. Her eyes darted everywhere to get her bearing, she was looking up at the bus seats. Looking at where she was laying on, she realised they on the bus's ceiling. The bus had been toppled upside down. Saeko coughed out. "Kumuro-kun?"
Takashi's head flinched and his eyes opened. He instantly felt a throbbing pain in the back of his head. He croaked out from his throat, "S-Senpai? You ok?"
"Yes." Saeko hoisted herself up onto her feet fast, she almost crashed back down from the blood rushing up into her head. Takashi groggily sat up as well and patted the dust off his clothes.
"Hey is everyone else ok?" Takashi called out. There were moans and groans through the bus to respond to Takashi.
"Everyone out of the bus," Saeko said. She turned to make her exit, only to be met with a wall of grey with red glowing markings. She backed away in surprise and got out of the opposite broken window. The rains continued to pour down, Saeko took a good look at the vessel once she got out. Her heart started to pump harder, she stood there frozen by the sight of the craft. It looked like absolutely nothing that could be made on Earth.
Others were soon getting out, Teshima Jin helped Hayashi Kyoko up and together they assisted the Kendo Club members out of the crashed bus. Shido Koichi, whose clothes had been wrinkled and dirtied did nothing to help anyone and got himself out. Takashi cautioned over to the driver's seat.
"Driver?" Takashi got over to him but gasped once he saw how the driver was doing. The seatbelt kept him upside down. His checker shirt had tears and cuts, the side of his head had a streak of blood. Takashi placed two fingers on his neck, sighing in relief when he could feel the driver's heartbeat. Takashi unbuckled the driver's seatbelt and caught him before he fell headfirst. Takashi dragged him out of the bus.
The rain started to wet Takashi's hair and shoulders. He set the driver down on the dirt, letting the driver rest on his so rain would not get into his nose. Takashi spun around to get his bearings and surroundings. He then laid eyes on the giant vessel the bus had crashed into, as did everyone.
"What is that thing?" One second-year kendo girl whimpered in terror.
"What happened? How did we crash?" A third-year kendo boy said in a frantic tone.
"Phone is dead! What's going on?" Another second-year girl started to sob. Stranded with no phone or light, the Kendo Club had good reasons to panic.
Takashi pulled out his phone and as he feared, it was not responding at all. Takashi glared at the space vessel, he remembered it clearly. That blue strobe light on top of that spaceship, that pulse of gale force, and then everything went dark. Like it was an electromagnetic pulse.
"Busujima-senpai?" Takashi turned to Saeko.
"We need to find a way up, back onto the road." Saeko said. "The driver needs medical attention, along with anyone who fared worse than us in the crash."
Shido Koichi, however, took everyone's attention with his theatrical proclamation, "My goodness, what I have discovered right here?" he gazed at the giant spaceship while adjusting his glasses.
Takashi eyeballed him. You discovered?
"Shido-sensei," Kyoko confronted him, "Now is not the time. We need to find help."
"This perhaps could be the discovery of the century," Koichi said, "How can one not act on this opportunity? More must be uncovered."
Takashi ignored that snake of a teacher and approached Hayashi Kyoko and Teshima Jin. He said to her, "Hayashi-sensei. Teshima-sensei."
"Kumoro! Oh, dear boy, you're ok." Kyoko sighed in relief.
"Before we crashed, I saw some tentage around here, around…whatever this thing is." Takashi pointed at the vessel. "There are people around here, they might be able to help us."
"Who?"
"Hello! Who's there?" They heard another voice calling them. Turning around, Takashi spotted them emerging out of the woods. They were a group of men, about five strong. They donned light green digital camo military uniforms and helmets. And they were armed with AR-15 rifles. The men had a look of confusion, a group of students and teachers by a crashed bus.
"Oh thank heavens!" Kyoko cried in relief. She hurried over to them, "Please you have to help us."
The lead army man raised his hand up at her, he shouted, "Halt!"
"Eh?" Kyoko stopped in her tracks, she nearly tripped on her heels.
"Identify yourselves! Quick!"
"W-We're…" Kyoko stammered from the man's harsh tone and their guns did not help at all.
"We're from Fujimi Academy," Takashi stepped in to answer for her, "We were having a training camp. We were on our way back home, but our bus crashed down to this thing. Look we need help, we got people injured here." The men glanced at each other as if discussing a decision. Takashi, however, was more suspicious of them. The lead army man was Japanese, the other four were a mix of Caucasian and African-American. He got even warier once he caught sight of the badges on their vests, he recognised the logo. The men ushered them over to follow them.
The students and teachers followed them while a couple of the army men carried the knocked-out driver. Assurance swept over the students and teachers, all except for Takashi.
They brought them through the woods and over to their base camp, which was only a short walk around the strange giant craft. Some students sat in the medical tent while two medics tended to them, the rest who were overall not too banged up stayed in another waiting tent. Busujima Saeko, sitting at the edge of the group of students, faintly heard what the teachers were discussing with the Captain in charge.
"We're cut off, our communications went down about fifteen minutes ago." The soldier said and he checked his watch, "The procedure is that a second team will arrive in eight hours after contact loss."
"But who are you guys though?" Koichi asked, "And what is this right here?" he pointed at the vessel.
"All you need to know is that you have an airlift coming to get you and your students out of here, back to your homes safe and sound." The soldier's tone got tensed, "Anything else here is none of your goddamn business." Koichi was looking like he got smacked in the face, he tried to press the matter. The soldier was having none of it.
Saeko checked on the Kendo Club, they all huddled together for warmth and a handful kept trying to get their phones working again. Someone, however, was not grouped up with them. Takashi was at the edge of the pavilion tent, standing with arms crossed and austere eyes slowly scanning around. Saeko came up to him, "Kumoro-kun?"
Takashi turned his head to her, "Senpai?"
"You ok? You should be resting." Saeko got to his side.
Takashi gestured her to keep it down with a finger by his mouth, he whispered, "Something's wrong."
Saeko got closer to him and whispered as well, "What is it?"
"What do you think this whole situation here is?" He asked her.
"I don't know. Perhaps a joint army exercise between Japan and the Americans? Testing their weapon here? Which ended badly?" Saeko referred to the vessel. "Why? What do you think?"
Takashi motioned his head to the direction of the soldiers around, "Those soldiers are carrying AR-15s rifles equipped with ACOG scopes and FN Five-Seven pistols. And look at that Humvee, that gun." Takashi discretely pointed at one specific vehicle, "That's a frigging mounted M134 minigun."
"And?" Saeko asked.
"You don't see those kinds of weapons in the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force," Takashi answered.
Saeko was quite surprised by his knowledge, "How do you know all this?"
"I've seen enough movies and games to discern them, and I've watched Youtube videos. But also, you see that badge on their uniforms?" Takashi drew a 'W' on his own chest.
Now Saeko noticed as well. Takashi then told her, "That's Weyland Yutani's logo."
"Weyland Yutani? What's that?"
"An aerospace company." Takashi then added, "These guys aren't any national army, they're a private security force. An aerospace company setting up a base here with whatever the hell that thing is," he pointed at the giant vessel, "All of this is a coincidence? I don't think so. If they knew this thing was here, they didn't even close off the road or warn anyone around the vicinity about this thing. And you don't bring this kind of firepower unless you're expecting something big."
The grave notion was getting through Saeko now, she scanned all around her. The clouds above were getting thicker, the rains started to get heavier. The teachers returned to the students giving them the announcement that their airlift is coming. It did not give any comfort to Takashi, he was suspecting these soldiers were not going to rescue them, they going to detain them.
One soldier was at the edge of the perimeter, patrolling right by the wall of the space vessel. "Fucking hell this detail is bullshit." He muttered at the vessel. When he took another step, however, something felt off. His boot squished on something. Lifting his boot up, the puddle of liquid was too viscous and stringy to be rainwater. It was some kind of slime.
"The fuck?" The soldier stepped away. There was no warning when a pair of long, bony, and black hands grabbed his head from behind pinning him down. He got dragged away into the shrubs and taken into the vessel, all the while screaming out loud.
His screams reached the base, everyone got startled. The girls from the kendo club gasped in fright. The Captain ordered his team, "Fan out! Weapons free!" The soldiers did as they were told, stepping out into the rain. The soldiers spread out around the base, rifles pointed in every direction. Glimpses of obsidian figures skulked around the perimeter in the cover of the storm.
"We have a missing man!" A soldier called out, only to get knocked off his feet and dragged away.
Takashi started backing away from the students, this whole thing was going to hell and he just wanted out. "We have to get out of here." He said to the students.
"Now." Saeko agreed. A second later, they all flinched when a bang echoed the woods. Followed by another one, gunfire quickly filled the base. The kendo girls started shrieking and the guys were starting to lose it as well.
"It's a fucking ambush!" Takashi heard a soldier shouting. The gunfire and screaming were enough incentive already to flee, but then there was a blood-curdling screeching and snarling from the direction of the spaceship. Takashi never heard anything like it, no other creature on God's Earth made that noise. The snarls, gunfire, and screams pushed everyone into hysteria.
"Run! Everyone run!" Teshima Jin shouted, he grabbed Hayashi Kyoko's hand, and together they ran for it. The kendo club became hysterical and ran for their lives as well. In everyone's panic, however, they ran off in different directions.
"No! Everyone!" Saeko tried to call to them, but they all have scattered. The kendo club broke off into two groups, one followed Jin and Kyoko, the other followed Koichi. Saeko's eyes went wide. Her kendo club just scattered and left her. The gunfire and soldiers screaming had stopped, that was not a good sign.
"Senpai!" Takashi called out, "Let's go!" he sprinted off, "Come on!"
"Oh shit!" Saeko clenched her teeth and followed Takashi. "Where do we go?!"
"Anywhere but here! Back to the road!" Takashi shouted. They have lost track of everyone, they had to save themselves now.
"What was that?!" One girl cried out, running as fast as she could.
"Just run!" A second-year boy at the back said. He did not even get to take another step when a black blur knocked him from the side and dragging him into the bushes, back to the ship. The previous girl suffered the same fate when another black figure intercepted and took her away.
Saeko heard the girl screaming from the distance, she recognised the voice, "Kaoru!" She started picking up the screams from her other kendo club members, even the teachers.
"Don't stop!" Takashi told her. The two kept on running, the shrilling snarls were getting closer. Takashi, on impulse, turned while running to see the source of those noises. There it was, sticking onto a tree like a serpent.
The creature was completely black, its whole frame was a bony, biomechanical exoskeleton. A long cylindrical dome for a head with no eyes or nose, but a mouth filled with razor-sharp fangs. There were dorsal tubes erected from its back and it had a long jagged tail with a bladed end. It let out a shrilling screech and in its mouth, a second appendage jaw shot out. And there were more of them coming behind it. Monsters! Aliens! They're fucking aliens!
Saeko too spotted them and she had a look of terror. "Fuck! Oh fuck!"
Fright was painted on both of their faces, they sprinted faster than ever before, away from the serpent monsters and up to higher ground. Their legs were started to burn in exhaustion and their hearts pounded. The shrilling hisses started to surround them, one of the serpent aliens dropped from the trees and landed in front of Takashi and Saeko. Takashi nearly tripped on his feet in shock. Saeko pulled out her bokken from her back. She readied her stance, but her knees trembled.
The serpent lunged at Takashi before he could dodge out of the way, he got knocked off his feet and was planted onto the ground. Takashi was met with a slimy black, no eyes, and no nose. It bared its glistening fangs at him, drooling its saliva on Takashi's chest. Its tail lashed about and its claws dug into his shoulders.
"God! Ah!" Takashi cried out, he tried pushing the horrid slimy serpent off him but the creature was so strong.
"Kumoro-kun!" Saeko swung her bokken and struck the monster's elongated head from the side. The creature stumbled off from Takashi only for a brief second. It turned its attention on Saeko, it rose up and stood as tall as she was. Its snarl shook Saeko in her bones.
From behind, another serpent struck and pounced on her. Saeko's head hit against the cold wet ground. Her lips started to bleed and her bokken slipped out of her hands. She got another blow to the head and her vision blackened.
"Senpai! No!" Takashi rushed for her, a tail from the first serpent alien smashed Takashi's side. Takashi was sent off his feet again and he crashed into a tree. His whole body flared in agony, in a split second he saw a clawed black alien hand before it struck down on his head. The side of his head had a trickle of blood and he slumped onto the ground.
Takashi and Saeko laid there knocked out. The two aliens hissed and snarled as they closed in on them. The same disastrous fate had fallen upon the rest of kendo club and the teachers, and Takashi and Saeko were the last two. Thunder roared from above, the aliens grabbed Takashi and Saeko by their legs and they dragged them back to the ship.
A foul stench in the air stirred Kumoro Takashi awake, he immediately felt his head throbbing with pain. The air was steaming hot, beads of sweat rolled down Takashi's head and Takashi's damp hair stuck to his face. He realised he was upright, his body was held up against a wall by some kind of blackish strap webbings. The resin sludge covered the walls around Takashi. The floors were metal grills and the ceiling was a dark grey with red glowing markings and dots of white lights.
Takashi felt like he was encased in some sort of cocoon. He tried to lift his hands but they were tied down by the blackish resin. He tried pulling his arm, straining his voice out as he kept on pulling his hand free. His struggle did not go unheard.
"Hey! Hey kid!" A harsh whisper called to him opposite the dark and dank room, Takashi's eyes darted in the direction. It was the Captain soldier, strung up and hived like Takashi was.
"Oh shit! It's you!" Takashi coughed out. "You ok?"
"Fine. Listen to me kid, what's your name?"
"K-Kumoro T-Takashi."
"Alright Kumoro. My name is Sato Hayama." The Captain said.
"Where are we? What happened? How long has it been?" Takashi asked.
"An hour maybe I don't know. Those things took all of us and placed us here. Listen to me, there's not much time. You have to get out."
"I'm trying. What the fuck is this?" Takashi strained, he tried wriggling both his arms.
"Don't pull it. Keep wearing it down on one area, push your hand through it." Hayama said.
He picked a spot on it and kept leaning against the resin webbings. All the while, Takashi held down the sobs from escaping his throat. Don't croak up, don't fucking break down now Takashi you bastard!
His fingernails kept scratching on the thin area of the webbing. He pushed and pushed, his arm muscles trembled. Till finally his nails cut the resin and thrust his arm through. "Shit it worked!" Takashi choked out a laugh, the first small thing that went in his favour. "It worked."
"Good. Good kid. Now get yourself out. Find your way out and contact the rescue team." Hayama wheezed.
"What are you talking about? What about you?" Takashi began tearing the rest of his bounds off him.
"It's too late for me." Hayama groaned, he hunched forward in pain.
"What are you talking about?" Takashi yanked the resin off one leg. Now free, Takashi crept over to Hayama and tore out the bindings on him.
"Don't bother with me kid." Hayama said but Takashi freed him regardless and he fell on his knees. "Kid look at that." Hayama pointed at something on the floor by his feet, Takashi laid his eyes on it. Some dull yellow giant spider-looking thing with a tail curled up, like in a rigor mortis position. Takashi's eyes wandered around and his eyes went wide. Next to where Takashi was hived, someone else was stuck in place. It was the driver, and he had that spider-thing latched onto his face. The tail coiled around his neck and the legs gripping his head in a tight hug. That 'facehugger' thing was hugging his face for some reason Takashi could not fathom.
"That thing was on my face…" Hayama's breathing got heavy, he lurched in his chest. "It came from those fucking eggs." He inclined his head to point further down the room, it was a couple of leathery oval objects. Both of them were opened up at the top from four peels revealing the pink flesh inside. Then there was a third one behind the two, still closed. "It-It put something inside me. I feel it in me…getting out." Hayama wheezed.
"W-What?" Takashi's throat got to his mouth. Hayama's words were sinking into Takashi's head, "In you? Getting out?"
"I'm a dead man kid," Hayama unclipped his Kevlar vest and put it on Takashi using what little strength he had left, "You need this more than me…have to get out this ship…rescue team…" He pulled out his holster strap with his pistol in it, he handed his weapon to Takashi.
"W-Wait I've never shot anything before Sato." Takashi shuddered as he took his gear. Feeling the weight of the vest on his torso and the pistol in his jittering hands.
"Just aim it at anything that's not human." Hayama stressed through his teeth. He grabbed Takashi's collar, "Kid, those black things are around here somewhere, you cannot be here."
"Ok…ok…" Takashi hyperventilated on his words. He pulled the pistol's slide to chamber a round and checked the gun's safety.
"You have to go now, get out bef-" Hayama could not finish his sentence. He arched forward and he kept on coughing and choking.
"Sato?" Takashi whispered meekly.
Hayama started convulsing and Takashi stumbled back, falling on his butt. The sound of bones cracking froze Takashi still with dread. Hayama arched backward and his chest bulged, blood soaked his uniform.
"Aargh! Reeaaarghh!" Sato Hayama let out a high-pitched haunting scream. Hayama's chest burst out in a disgusting snap. Pieces of flesh splattered around, his rib bones bent straight out and blood pooled the floor. Hayama fell on his back with dead eyes and mouth agape. In his gory chest cavity, it emerged, this 'chestburster'. It was dull yellow like the facehugger. A curved cylinder head with no eyes or nose, like the black creatures.
Takashi kept gawking at the chestburster. It gave Takashi a hiss before it leaped off Hayama's chest and slithered away. Nausea hit Takashi's stomach, he did not even realise he was clutching his own chest, he was still processing the image of an infant alien bursting out of a man's chest. A facehugger from an egg latched onto someone's face. Implanting a baby alien inside the person to grow and erupt out of the chest as a chestburster. "Fuck…oh fuck…oh fuck…"
Something, however, brought him out of his frozen state. His ears picked up a moan coming from the back end of this room. With Sato Hayama and his stricken fear, Takashi had not noticed the last person in the room with him. "Oh God."
Busujima Saeko was pinned to the wall, her limbs bounded by the same resin webbings Takashi was in. Her damp fringe was stuck on her forehead and she started to stir awake. Her back had something prodding against it. Her katana was strapped to her and it was pushing into her back. Her head throbbed in pain but she pried her eyes open, and they started to shake in fear taking in everything in sight. Particularly, the leathery egg object on the floor in front of her.
It peeled itself open and something was moving inside. Saeko pulled her head away to focus on her hands, attempting to yank her hands free to no avail. In the opened egg bony spider-legs were creeping out towards Saeko. Whimpers were escaping from the usually stoic and cool Saeko, she kept wrenching side to side to free herself. The creature from the egg was crawling out, showing itself to Saeko. It squeaked and squealed at Saeko. The facehugger coiled its tail before it leaped at her, in the air the facehugger's centre shot out a phallic stem aiming for her mouth and Saeko let out a scream.
"Senpai!" Takashi dashed in and stretched his hand out. He grabbed the facehugger's tail, the facehugger's phallic appendage and spider legs were inches away from Saeko's face before it got yanked away from her. Takashi held tight on the tail, the facehugger flopped about with strength Takashi could not anticipate.
"Fucking shit!" Takashi cursed as held onto the tail with both his hands and with a yell he swung it around, smashing it into the wall and onto the floor. Takashi gave it another smash against the wall, its legs broke apart and its centre ruptured greenish-yellow blood. "Ah!" Takashi threw the tail away and the facehugger laid dead. Takashi's panicked breathing was matched by his heartbeat. The greenish-yellow blood corroded into the floor, melting it like acid.
Acid for blood?! The fuck kind of biology is that?! Takashi swore in his head.
"Kumoro-kun." Busijima Saeko choked out.
"Oh God." Takashi turned to Saeko and tore the resin out to free her. She leaned onto him as he helped her out of her bindings. She clung onto him for a moment and she fought the trembling in her throat. Takashi said under his breath, "You ok? Please tell me you are ok."
"Y-Yeah. I'm ok. Thank you." Saeko managed to say, but her eyes caught something scurrying over to Takashi from behind. "Look out!" Saeko shoved him to the side and pulled out her katana. The last facehugger that came from the earlier unopened egg leaped into the air.
In spite of her horrified moment, Saeko's skill did not falter. She thrust her sword piercing straight into the final facehugger. It squealed in its impalement before it went limp. Saeko flung the facehugger out of her sword and it stuck onto the wall. The greenish-yellow blood on her blade, however, started to corrode, burning into the metal. Saeko's eyes widened in shock. The acid blood melted off a third of the blade's length and it dropped onto the floor. "Oh my God."
They were bruised up and winded, lost inside a ship they know nothing about or what else was out there. No knowledge of the rest of the kendo club, the teachers, or the soldiers. Armed with a pistol and a katana that already had a melted edge. Chances of survival were reaching zero.
But Kumoro Takashi and Busujima Saeko's eyes locked onto each other, just that one moment gave a small bit of comfort. They were still alive, they still had each other in this nightmare. They had to hold onto that.
And they both had the same sentiment. Got to get out.
Hope you've enjoyed this chapter, hope to see you in the next one.
