It was amazing to say the least.

To glide through the ice and feel the cool air tickle her face was breathtaking.

It obviously didn't go well at first. They had to start off holding onto the side of ring like many of what she expected to be the beginners of skating.

Well...

At least Denji did.

Power was one to charge straight ahead when she felt like it.

After hearing Denji's words of encouragement, she definitely felt like it.

So that's what she did. She charged straight in and landed on her ass.

Slip and slide.

Fall and rise.

Rinse and repeat.

Those same steps got her behind turning red but she didn't care.

There were also other people watching her fall but she didn't give a fuck about them.

She just wanted to impress Denji.

Speaking of the guy, he was watching her tumble with amusement as he hung onto the sides.

On her 10th attempt she got up and adjusted her balance.

She tightened her core to strengthen her control on the ice with her boots.

She watched the other skaters and saw they slid their boots diagonally to the left with their left boot then shift their bodies and do it with their right side in a repeated cycle.

Power took a deep breath and copied what she saw.

Left...

Right...

Left...

Right...

Before she knew it, she was moving straight from the middle of the rink...

and came crashing into Denji.

They fell in a tangle of limbs and Power's face was an inch from his.

The air felt hotter than usual.

She could see Denji's face heating up a little.

She wondered if he had a fever and was hiding it from her.

When they both got up, she put a palm to his forehead.

"You getting sick or something Denji?" Power asked, her head tilting in curiosity.

To her relief, Denji shook his head, albeit rather quickly. If he was fine, she wouldn't push him any further.

"Alrighty then, did you see me move so quickly?! T'was awesome wasn't it?" She flashed him her sharp teeth, a smile waiting for his acknowledgement.

"Yeah, you were looking pretty good out there." Denji flashed his own smile at her, causing her heart to warm with happiness.

"Yeah! Now you go with me!"

With that, the blood fiend pulled the boy by his hands from the sides, ignoring the glares from the civilians.

Watching Denji go through what she went through was hilarious.

Sometimes he landed on his butt.

Other times led to a kiss with the ice.

Eventually they were able to move decently.

They locked arms for better balance and worked on turning and starting the loops around the rink.

Denji and Power laughed as they went around the ice.

They enjoyed each other's company.

They bantered and talked about anything that came to mind.

From what they were planning to do tomorrow.

To their strategies and teamwork for killing more Devils.

To their favorite meals.

To the new combos for their videogames.

Power was having a blast and smiled sweetly at Denji talking away.

She was happy that she could help make the pain of losing Aki go away for him.

And for her as well.

They needed this.

To smile and have fun.

To numb themselves.

She hoped that this would never end.

"Now that was fun!" Denji stretched his arms over his head.

"Hell yeah it was!" Power pumped her fist in response.

After eating a lot and disturbing the other people in the rink with their appetite, the two were kicked out.

"Are we coming there again?" Power put a finger to her chin, faking a thoughtful look.

"Fuck yes!"

When they got home Power called dibs on the shower.

After being reminded for what felt like the millionth time to flush if she was taking a shit, she went in.

The water was pure, cleansing her of the sweat that permeated from her human body.

She scrubbed her strawberry-blonde hair of the dust and grime that built up.

Her hands moved everywhere, not missing a single inch.

The soapy bubbles formed and dissolved and when she felt clean she stepped out of the shower, wiping herself dry.

It was then she realized she didn't bring her clothes to the shower.

She didn't want to bring her wet towel to her bed so she just left it to dry on the hanger and left the bathroom.

When she was in the hallway she saw Denji come from his room.

When they locked eyes, or rather when Denji locked eyes with her body, she saw his face turn red.

"P-power? W-where a-are your clothes?" He broke into a stutter-fest.

That was strange.

So he was he lying to her when he said he doesn't have a fever.

"In the bed, I forgot to bring them in the shower." She shivered a little bit from the exposure, feeling a bit cold.

It reminded her of her time alone before she became a Devil hunter.

"Anyways I thought you said you weren't sick? But you're blood red? Do you have a fever Denji?" Power furrowed her brows in concern for her roommate.

"No! I'm not sick damn it!" He said quickly.

"But you look so red? The article I read on human sickness suggests you are most likely sick!" Sometimes she read articles to understand what humans were like and as far as she knew, Denji was part human.

"Again, I'm not sick! It's just because you're naked!" Denji clasped his hand over his mouth the moment he finished the sentence, his eyes widening.

Now she was confused.

He's seen her naked before.

They bathed together.

He seemed perfectly fine when he scrubbed her.

He had touched her all over and everywhere to clean.

All that and he didn't look uncomfortable or even flinch.

Now he looked like he was scared of her.

She felt her heart sting a little bit.

That... hurts.

What the hell was his problem?

"Huh?! What are you going on about?" She questioned a bit angrily.

Power held in the tears that were threatening to slip from the look he gave her.

The human emotions was something she still had to get used to.

"I just... you're... we've... nevermind." Denji shook his head, looking like he was ashamed. For what, she had no clue.

"I'm gonna go get cleaned up now." He turned around and walked to his room, shutting the door without another word.

She assumed he was going to get his clothes.

It didn't matter to her if he was naked or not. If he came out naked from his shower, she wouldn't bat an eye.

He was Denji.

Just Denji.

He was her friend.

Her friend...

Her first friend...

The tears followed with her realization.

She walked into her room, wiping away the droplets that escaped her face.

Power hoped he wasn't mad at her.
