Denji stared at the ceiling, alone in his bed.

It had been a few hours after he and Power returned from the ice skating rink, and a few hours after that incident.

The two were quiet during dinner and he could tell she had cried. The obvious red on the white of her eyes made his heart tighten, and it hurts almost just as much as when Aki died.

His fingers ran through his hair as he let out an exhale.

To think that the fiend who was(and still is) obnoxious, arrogant and infuriating managed to worm her way into his heart was a mystery.

What was she to him?

A lover? No, he never had sex with her.

Family? That was more Aki's role and his encounter with her in the bath burned that notion to ash.

A friend? Definitely, though he felt stronger around her. She helped him move forward with his life. She helped him cope with the trauma of killing Aki by just being there for him.

A person who he is in love with? No, Reze had that spot and Ms. Makima currently holds the position. He is in love with Ms. Makima. The woman took him in and he was grateful and in love with her... even if it felt a little forced...

He shook his head rapidly at the inconceivable notion that crossed his mind, that didn't matter...

A person who he just whole-heartedly loves?

Denji's eyes widened and his heart clenches and tightens again.

The moments where he took care of her...

The moments where she took care of him...

Their banter...

Their friendship...

Their relationship...

The closeness he feels with Power...

He loves Power...

He wasn't IN love with her but no words could truly describe how he feels when he's with her...

He wants to see more of that radiant smile that always warmed his soul...

He wants to continue seeing the light that radiated from her eyes when she gets excited...

If that light were to die...

If she were to die...

Tears ran down his cheeks.

Power sat on the couch in silence. It had been a day since the incident with Denji.

She couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong with her body... with her.

Seeing Denji get angry at her... genuinely so... was heartbreaking.

She choked up thinking he would hate her.

Tears escaped her and she broke into soft, quiet sobs.

It was just like when he was taking care of her...

She was afraid again...

Maybe she should offer him some blood again to say sorry for whatever she did wrong.

He can't hate her. She wouldn't be able to live with herself if he did.

After all...

He's her first friend.

Her cheeks turned red.

Her heart felt warm and skipped a beat.

Even as she's crying, her lips were curled in a small smile.

This feels like what she has with Meowy.

She's almost always feel happy around Denji.

Being with him fills her with glee and joy.

These feelings...

She wants to hold onto them forever.

Power wiped her tears away, her face holding a new determined look.

She needed to apologize for whatever she did and if she has to beg again then so be it.

Denji's away for the day training with the old man so when he comes back then that's the time to get him to forgive her.

Now...

What should her apology gift be?
