Without further ado, on with the story!

A guy named, Lorenzo Rey was hosting a party, that he the new high Warlock as Alec, Marley and Magnus arrived. "Well, here we are." Magnus comment to them.

Alec had eye contact with Rufus who gave him a dirty look. Then he glanced at Magnus. "You're sure bringing me and Marley here was a good idea?"

"It's better than coming by myself." Magnus comment.

Then Marley took Alec's hand. "He's joking. They'll love you." They let go and walked a bit.

"Oh, just because you're the only Shadowhunter and a half Shadowhunter, who's pregnant at a party full of warlocks doesn't mean you can't have fun." Magnus looked at them.

"Yeah, dad, that's way to go." Marley comment, sarcastically.

"Yeah, well, that's easy for you to say." Alec agreed with Marley. "You've known these people for centuries."

"You think that's a good thing?" Magnus sighed. "Trust me. I don't wanna be here any longer than I have to. But it's tradition for the outgoing High Warlock to pass the baton on to his replacement." Then he looked over.

Alec and Marley followed his gaze. "Is that him?" Alec asked to him.

Magnus nodded. "The one and only. Lorenzo Rey, the new High Warlock of Brooklyn."

Lorenzo saw Magnus and waved his arm. "Magnus! Magnus Bane!" Magnus wanted to walk away, but Marley held him back as then they approached Lorenzo. "You made it, and you brought a friend."

Alec held out his hand. "Yes, hi, I'm…"

"Alec Lightwood, Head of the New York Institute." Lorenzo interrupted him, then he looked at Marley. "And Marley Bane, I presume." Marley looked in shock, then he looked at Alec. "I expect we'll be seeing quite a bit of each other at your Downworld cabinet meetings." Then he looked at Magnus. "No hard feelings, right, Bane?"

"On the contrary, I'm very content in my new position." Magnus replied to him. "Being the High Warlock is a thankless job. Long hours, little pay. But I'm sure it doesn't matter to a young, civic-minded person as yourself."

"Oh, don't be so jaded." Lorenzo shrugged it off. "I may only be 484, but I'm no stranger to service. All those years working for the High Warlock in Madrid have prepared me well." Then looked at Alec. "Although, I may not be as easy on you as he was. After all, I'm here to serve the warlocks, not Portal you around, like some glorified shuttle service."

"I wouldn't have it any other way." Alec comment.

"In that case, I look forward to our first cabinet meeting. Enjoy the party." Lorenzo said to them as then he leaves.

"Who appointed him?" Alec asked, looking at Magnus.

"What an ass." Marley comment.

"Nobody. There was a vote." Magnus replied to them. "And Lorenzo can be very charming, as long as you're into phony, no taste, egomaniacal pieces of sh…"

Suddenly Marley saw Madzie. "Language, dad."

Madzie runs towards them. "Marley, Alec."

"Madzie!" Alec greeted her, lifting her up. "Hey, my favourite little sorceress."

Then Catarina looked at Magnus. "I can't believe you brought him just to piss Lorenzo off."

"No, I brought him because he's my daughter's boyfriend." Magnus corrected her.

"What my father said." Marley nodded.

"Ah. Well, he's good with kids. I'll give you that." Catarina pointed at Marley stomach as then Magnus was inspecting his drink. "Something wrong with your drink? Mine tastes weak as hell."

Suddenly, the building started shaking. People started to shout. Then a light came out of Catarina. "I can't control my magic."

Lorenzo looked at his hands, so do other warlocks, all of their magic was coming out. "I'm out of here, man." Rufus created a Portal. His arm was sucked into it, it's burning off. The Portal moved forward to Alec. Magnus stepped in and closed the Portal just in time. His eyes have changed into his cat eyes.

"What's going on?" Alec asked confused.

"I have no idea." Magnus replied to him.

"This isn't good." Marley comment.

Marley was sitting in a chair, rubbing with one her stomach the other, snaps with her fingers, them the bed makes itself as Alec was in the bathroom putting on a shirt, then he entered the bedroom. "Marley, is your magic working okay?"

Marley smiled at him. "Totally back to normal." Then, Alec smelled the bottle he's holding. "What's wrong with my father's shampoo?"

"Uh, no, it's actually way better than what I have back at the Institute." Alec looked her. "Where do you buy it?"

"I don't know." Marley shrugged. "You will have to ask my dad about it." Then she pointed at the door. "He is in the living room."

"I will have to ask him then." Alec comment, putting the bottle back.

Suddenly, there's a knock at the front door. Magnus went to the front door. It's Lorenzo Rey. "Lorenzo." He let Lorenzo in as Marley and Alec listen in. "What are you doing here?"

"I didn't wanna give you the chance to avoid me." Lorenzo replied to him.

"Why would I do that?" Magnus asked, a little confused. Marley and Alec watched now the scene in the living room from the bedroom. They had the door a bit open.

"Because you thought you could get away with sabotaging my party." Lorenzo replied to him. "The ley line under my home was intentionally corrupted. I knew you were petty. I just didn't realize you'd go this far to make me look bad."

"You saw my eyes. My magic was as useless as anyone's." Magnus argued.

"An exposed mark proves nothing." Lorenzo argued back. "You think I don't recognize Asmodeus' handiwork when I see it?"

Magnus looked at him. "I haven't seen Asmodeus in centuries."

"Yet you do know him, far better than anyone else in this dimension." Lorenzo told him.

"I know what he's capable of." Magnus sighed, heavily.

Lorenzo looked at him. "More importantly, you know how to use his demonic magic."

"If Asmodeus truly escaped from Edom, all of New York is in danger. Now, as High Warlock, it's your…" Magnus put his hand om Lorenzo arm, but he pushed it away.

"My job is to keep my people safe, Bane. And if I have to banish problematic warlocks to lower reaches of the Spiral Labyrinth for their crimes, then so be it. I know you're behind this. And it's only a matter of time until I prove it." Then Lorenzo leaves.

When, Lorenzo was gone, Alec and Marley has come to the living room. "Why would Lorenzo accuse you of working with a Greater Demon, especially one like Asmodeus?" He asked confused.

Magnus stared out the window. "Asmodeus and I have a history. He's one of the few demons capable of doing something like this."

"Yeah, but we've fought Greater Demons before." Alec was being oblivious. "But I've never seen anything like what happened at that party."

"It has to do with the ley lines." Magnus told him.

"And were is this Asmodeus come in?" Marley asked confused.

"Couldn't that mean the Seelie Queen is involved? What do demons have to do with ley lines?" Alec asked further.

Just then, Magnus turned to Alec and Marley. "Healthy ley lines are the energy source for all magic, Seelie and warlock alike, but they can become corrupted. Asmodeus isn't just a Greater Demon. He's the most powerful Prince of Hell. And if Lorenzo is right, what happened at the party is just the beginning."

"And you knew him personally?" Alec aske to him.

"How?" Marley asked as she went over to chair, to sit down.

Magnus hesitated, but said it anyway. "Asmodeus is my father." Alec was stunned as Marley looked at him as if she could kill someone. "Look, I'm sorry I never told you. I was ashamed."

"Don't be." Marley sighed.

"I knew every warlock had a demon parent." Alec sighed, walking over to Marley. "It just… Asmodeus. Well, we have to stop him."

"First, we need to track him down. And my father… his magic is unique." Magnus told them. "But if I can study the corrupted ley lines, we might be able to find him."

"What are we waiting for?" Alec asked to him.

"We need to get into Lorenzo's mansion, and I'm afraid we'll never be able to Portal through his wards without him knowing." Magnus sighed.

"We don't always have to use magic." Alec glanced at Marley. "Like, taking a shower, right?"

"Breaking and entering isn't exactly like taking a shower, my dear." Marley replied to him. "But you have to do that without me, cause I'm gonna take a nap."

Alec chuckled, looking Magnus "Who said anything about breaking in?" Then at them both. "I'm gonna knock ion his door."

Both Magnus and Marley face palmed.

Later, Alec texted Marley that it wasn't Asmodeus, but someone else. A very old person, but that's also when something had happened at the hospital and they were all needed. When they all arrived Luke was talking with another officer as the others gained more information. "Turns out it was just a freak power surge. Couple tweaks to the grid, Con Ed said it shouldn't happen again." Luke went over to Catarina, who was with Magnus, Alec, Marley and Izzy.

Catarina looked at them. "Is Mr. Harris okay?"

"He'll pull through." Magnus nodded.

"And everyone else?" She asked.

Marley looked grim. "A patient upstairs on a ventilator."

"Oh, God." Catarina blamed herself. "It's all my fault."

Magnus put his hand on her shoulder. "Catarina, you had no way of knowing that this would happen."

"This proves Lorenzo's mansion wasn't the only place affected." Alec told them all. "We have to get back to the Institute."

Then they all leave.

Not much later, Alec had called a meeting with all Shadowhunters in the Center. Then Raj asked, looking in disbelieve. "You're gonna use the angelic core? Are you serious?"

"This is our only chance to stop the corruption." Alec replied to him. "We're gonna flood the ley lines with angelic energy, put an end to this, once and for all."

Clary looked at him. "So, your plan is basically divine Drano?"

Just then, Alec pulled up a holographic map of the Institute. "The only problem is the Institute is not built on any ley lines. At least not yet. That's where Magnus comes in."

Magnus shows the angelic core in a holographic image. "I know a spell that will allow me to temporarily divert the flow of magic at the core. Once the ley line's in place, you'll tap into the core, and we can kiss the demonic corruption goodbye." With a swipe of his hand he transformed the red holographic lines into blue ones.

"Right. What happens if a demon shock wave hits while you're using your magic? The core will be totally exposed." Raj make a gesture that turned the holographic core red, then it exploded.

"Well, that doesn't look good." Jace comment.

"If we're lucky, it'll only vaporize the Institute." Magnus comment, honestly.

"What if we're not lucky?" Izzy asked to him.

"Better not to think about that." Magnus dismissed her question.

"This is a risk that we have to take." Alec told them all.

"The whole point of building the Institute away from the ley lines was to avoid something like this." Raj was getting frustrated. "Why not just quarantine the warlocks outside the city?"

"Because kicking innocent people out of their homes isn't going to solve anything." Alec replied to him.

"Neither will blowing up the Institute!" Raj shouted.

"You can't just quarantine Downworlders." Clary glared at him.

"Alec is the head of the institute, he makes the last call on this." Marley also glared at him.

Just then, everyone starts talking over each other. Then Alec shouted. "That's enough! This isn't just about the warlocks. You know what happened at the hospital. Everyone is at risk. We are under siege by a Greater Demon. It is our job to solve this problem. Evacuate the Institute. Essential personnel stay behind."

Izzy, Jace, Marley and Clary were demanding everyone to follow Alec's orders. 'Come on, move it. You don't wanna be inside if this goes bad." Izzy told them all.

"We're not going anywhere." Raj told her.

"Your orders were to evacuate." Jace told him.

"Yeah, I know the orders." Raj told him, looking angry. "Look, I'm all for helping out the Downworlders, but we can't let Lightwood destroy the Institute to do it. Without it, we leave New York completely defenseless."

"That is not your call to make." Marley hissed at him.

"Doesn't matter." Raj smirked. "I've already locked him out of the system."

"Then unlock it.' Jace ordered as then he laid a hand on Raj. They struggled for a bit, but then Jace pinned Raj down on the table.

"Now." Izzy demanded to him.

"Not possible." Raj told her, struggling to get free. "Even if it was, my answer would still be the same."

Jace nods to Izzy as went over to the screen and started typing on the keyboard, Marley went over as well to help her. "Can you undo it?" Clary asked to them.

"No, not anytime soon." Izzy replied to her.

"It's too late." Marley added. "Let's hope that they will fix it on time."

Alec and Magnus fixed it and everyone was safe again.

Later, Alec and Magnus were clicking their glasses on the balcony as Marley had a normal drink without drank. "Mm." Magnus to a sip. "That's quite the drink."

"It's been quite the day." Alec comment.

"It was." Marley sighed.

"I'm guessing Raj and his friends didn't take their banishment well?" Magnus asked to Alec.

"Oh, Wrangel Island isn't banishment. It's more like character-building." Alec replied to him, modesty.

"Lorenzo Rey could use a bit of character-building." Magnus comment. "He's been taking all the credit for fixing the ley lines."

"Such an ass." Alec comment, taking a sip from his drink as well as Marley snickered. "Whatever corrupted those ley lines is still out there. Lorenzo has to stop blaming you for being Asmodeus' son and help us track the demon who's responsible."

"Alexander… Munchkin… about my father, I hope you don't think less of me." Magnus sighed heavily.

"Are you kidding? I don't care who your dad is." Alec scoffed, slightly.

"I care who you are." Marley added. "And you're the furthest thing from a Greater Demon." Then she side hugged her father.
