The woman had introduced herself as Lily to Magnus as now they were drinking tea in Magnus's office. "I would have sworn I knew every warlock in the city." Magnus comment to her.
"Oh, I'm not from around here." Lily told him.
"And how is it that you heard about my services?" Magnus asked to her.
"A friend spoke of you." Lily replied to him. "The late Ragnor Fell? I'm no slouch, but what I do need is beyond my level of expertise."
"Well, for a friend of Ragnor's, I would do just about anything." Magnus stood up. "So, what exactly do you need?"
Lily stood up as well. "Well, I'm looking for something that could make a person fall out of love." Magnus raised his eyebrows. "Is that something you could do?"
"I can… but I don't recommend it." He sighed. "You see, heartache, in all its bittersweet torture, is almost always preferable to the alternative. My elixir would erase everything you've ever felt for the other person. It would be almost as if you've never loved at all."
"Well, it's actually not for me." Lily told him. "It's for a former lover. A soldier. I've tried to get him to move on, but he's still madly in love. And his obsession is starting to distract him from his duties, and… Well, I worry what could happen if he can't focus on the task at hand."
"In the rare case, I suppose erasing love is actually an act of compassion." Lily smiled as then Magnus got to work. "An hour before he drinks this you must add one last ingredient: a tiny sliver of your soul."
"My soul? Why?" She asked to him.
"Well, you are the object of his affection." Magnus looked at her. "In order for the elixir to work, it must contain a trace of you. You do know how to perform an extraction, don't you?"
Lily smiled. "Of course." Then, Magnus held up a small bottle with a blue liquid inside. He snapped his fingers with that he used his magic and the potion became a brighter blue, then he handed the potion to Lily. "Thank you, Mr. Bane. You really are a true lifesaver."
Meanwhile with Alec and Marley, they were in Alec's bed room. "I was thinking that it wouldn't be an issue if you didn't have to go back and forth so much. I mean, you spend almost every night here. So, what if you… moved in?" Alec looked at Marley. "Bad idea?"
"No." Marley sighed. "It's a wonderful idea. For the future."
"Okay." Alec looked sad. "Um, I just thought… We are having a baby…"
Marley looked at him. "We've been seeing each other for a few months and yeah we are having a baby… it just… Alec, once we move in together, our relationship will change."
"Yeah, we'll be even closer." Alec stepped closer to her, rubbing her stomach.
"There's no such thing." Marley shrugged. "Ask me again over a few weeks or so?"
Alec grinned. "Hmm." Then he kissed her.
Just then, Izzy knocked and walked straight in. "Oh." She turned away from them as Alec and Marley both blushed.
"Izzy, what's wrong?" Marley asked to her.
"Oh, I need you help and maybe from Clary as well." Izzy replied to her.
"With, what?" Marley asked to her.
"I need something mundane to wear." Izzy was uncomfortable.
"Okay." Marley smiled as then she and Izzy walked out of the room, but then Alec noticed something from, an photo from a guy, by Marley stuff. He frowned and thought nothing of it.
When Marley and Izzy arrived by a room, but it was Clary's room. "Why are we in Clary's room?" Marley asked to her.
"Like I said, I need something mundane." Izzy replied to her.
"let's look." Marley shrugged.
Then, Izzy was looking in Clary's closet as Marley looked on bed, Izzy phoned Clary and they were speaking on loud speaker. "Can I borrow a dress? I need something mundane to wear."
"Going undercover?" Clary asked over the phone.
Izzy held up a blouse. "Something like that."
"Hmm-mmm." Marley hummed, not believing her.
"Izzy, is there something going on?" Clary asked, clearly didn't believe her either.
"I'm going out tonight with the doctor." Izzy sighed.
"Tell me everything." Clary told her.
"It's just dinner." Izzy explained. "I'm only doing it so he can leave me alone."
"That's not how you do it." Marley comment to her.
"Well, then why go out with him at all?" Clary asked, sounding confused.
"You're right." Izzy replied to her. "I should cancel. Help with the Owl search." Then she put the blouse back in the closet.
"Izzy, you've been working nonstop." Clary told her. "You can take a couple hours and enjoy yourself. It'd be good for you."
"I can agree to that." Marley told her. "Just do it, Izzy, relax a bit."
When Marley was back in Alec room, she sat down in a chair and went to read for a bit as then Alec entered. "I tried calling."
Marley gestured her book. "I've been busy."
"Marley, I did something I'm not proud of." Alec sighed.
"You're referring to going through that photo?" Marley raised an eyebrow. "I'm a warlock. I know when things are out of order."
"I had no right." Alec sighed heavily. "It was an invasion of your privacy and I'm sorry."
"Apology accepted." Marley smiled at him. "You're not jealous, are you?"
"You were weird before, when I asked about moving in." Alec looked at her. "Is he still…"
Marley nodded. "Yeah, but I broke up with him, when I was 15 years old."
"Well, why do you keep a photo?" Alec asked to her.
"Alec, I only have that single photo." Marley sighed.
Alec frowned. "Why do you keep it?"
"I was young and I wanted to keep something, it's no big deal, I only love you, Alec, not him, never him." Marley replied to him. "I've always been honest with you about that."
"But, I can't help but think, if I'm lucky, maybe one of my arrowheads ends up in that box." Alec sighed heavily.
"I don't even wanna think about you being gone." Marley told him, seriously.
"One day, I will be." Alec stepped closer. "And you'll just move on." He sighed. "What about our son? Is he immortal as you are?"
"I don't know, really." Marley sighed. "But, I'm immortal! It's not as if I have a choice! I can't change what I am and neither can you." She looked at him, sad. "Look, can we just stay in the here and now? Hmm? Look, I wanna cherish this moment with the one I love."
Just then, Alec kissed Marley. "You're right. I love you, too."
"Good." Marley smiled.
Not much later, Alec went his office, looking through a book. The door was open, Jace knocked on it. "You got a minute?"
"Yeah." Alec nodded.
"You all right?" Jace asked to him.
"It's nothing." Alec sighed.
Jace raised an eyebrow. "It's nothing?" Then he entered and sat down across from Alec.
"Just stuff with Marley." Alec shrugged it off. "Nothing I'd wanna bore you with. So, how are you? I heard you took the day off."
"Yeah." Jace nodded. "I've been doing a lot of thinking about what's been going on with me, and… I've decided to go to the Silent City for treatment. You were the one who told me I needed to get some help. I'm sorry."
"Jace, you know if this doesn't work, you realize…" Alec trailed off.
Jace nodded. "I know. At least I'll know I tried everything, right?"
Alec nodded as well. "I'm going with you." Then he stood up. "I'll be by your side the whole time."
Jace stood up as well. "You know you can't do that. They won't let you. This is one fight I have to face on my own." Then he and Alec hugged.
