Clary and Simon met Izzy, Magnus, Marley and Alec in the Institute. "Jace is the Owl? How is that even possible?" Izzy looked in shock.

Alec sighed. "This whole time, it wasn't his mental health. He was possessed."

"By an extremely powerful Greater Demon, who gave him the ability to turn mundanes into demonic killers." Magnus told them.

"We defeated Greater Demons before." Alec looked at them. "We'll do it again and free Jace."

"This is not just any Greater Demon. Clary was able to draw an image of the beast." Magnus told them as then he touched another image on the table. "And it matches this image from the Silent City archives. The demon is Lilith. Queen of Edom. Adam's first wife."

"Adam, as in Garden of Eden Adam?" Izzy asked to him.

"The one and only." Magnus replied to her.

"Huh?" Marley was confused.

As was Simon. "So, what does that mean?"

"She's the mother of all demons." Magnus replied to them.

"Makes sense." Marley nodded.

"It makes her more powerful than anything we've ever encountered." Alec sighed. "Of all people, why Jace?"

Everyone thought about that as Clary was close to tears when she spoke up. "Alec… what you felt that night, when your parabatai rune disappeared… you were right. Jace did die. Valentine killed him."

"I knew it." Alec exclaimed.

"But if he died, how did he come back?" Simon asked confused.

Clary had tears streaming down her face. "Because I made a wish to Raziel."

Izzy looked at her. "You made the wish?"

"I had to. I had to." Clary replied. "It was the only way to bring him back. But it… it made him vulnerable. To Lilith. To… this beast that's powerful enough to murder Ithuriel."

"What?" The others girls exclaimed, Marley and Izzy.

"Because of me. Because I summoned him. Because I was trying to help Jace." Clary told them as then she looked at Alec. "Alec, I am so sorry. I should not have kept this from you. I know what position this puts you in with the Clave. So if you wanna send me to the Gard, I understand."

"Clary, no…" Simon exclaimed as then Alec gave him a look and he shut up.

Then he circled around the table to Clary. Out of nowhere, he hugged her. "I would have done the same thing."

Not much later, Luke was meeting up with the them. "Last night, Ollie's mother was found in her apartment. Stabbed to death."

Clary looked at him with sympathy. "Luke, there is nothing you could have done."

"Wait." Izzy told them all. "Jace was able to reverse Morgan's possession, remember? If we can find Jace, maybe he can save Ollie."

"We tried that." Clary sighed. "He must be using his anti-tracking rune."

"The Owl wasn't exactly shy before." Magnus told them. "If we're able to somehow contain him the next time he makes an appearance, I might be able to relieve him of Lilith's influence."

"How the hell are we gonna contain him?" Luke asked to them.

Izzy looked at him. "When I took over as weapons master, I read about a piece of Clave technology that never made it into the field. It was called the Malachi Configuration."

"Malachi the traitor?" Alec asked.

"Urgh." Marley groaned a little, hating the guy. "Hearing his name, it's just urgh."

"He invented a type of cage for Greater Demons." Izzy told them. "Now it's just sitting in the Alicante armory."

"So we go there and get it." Clary added.

"You expect the Clave to just hand it over?" Luke asked in disbelieve.

"No." Clary replied to him. "But Imogen might. She's Jace's grandmother. We can trust her."

Alec looked at Clary. "Izzy and I will go with you."

"I'll go and try to find a cure for Jace." Magnus told them.

"And I will help him." Marley added as then they leave.

But they heard Luke talking to the others. "Before the Owl got a hold of Ollie, she had a location lead. If I can find Lilith, I can find Jace."

When, Marley and Magnus were walking to the Institute's front door, that's when Alec catches up to them. "Marley. Hey. Marley." He stopped them in the hall.

"What a fool I am." Magnus sighed. "If I hadn't given her that elixir, Jace would still be Jace."

"Dad, you didn't know." Marley told her father. "Lilith would've gotten to him with or without you. You can't put this all on yourself."

"I will fix it." Magnus looked at them. "I'll use the last drop of my power if it's the death of me."

"And I will help you, dad." Marley told him.

Alec hugged Markey, he can't exactly hug Magnus. "Thank you. About our fight…"

"Alec, I..." Marley sighed.

"No. I was wrong." Alec told her. "I said things I shouldn't have."

"As did I." Marley said as her father looked at them, they pulled back from the hug. "But that's not important right now. What's important is that we save your parabatai."

They were back in Magnus's apartment as they were working on a potion to cure Jace. Catarina was helping him by researching a book. "What about a variation on a healing spell?" She asked to them.

"It's not that simple." Magnus sighed. "My elixir's already taken hold of him."

"Magnus, you can't blame yourself." Catarina told him.

"She's right dad." Marley told her father.

"Of course I can." Magnus told them. "I knew there was something off about that warlock. I should've followed my gut."

"Yeah, but dad, you didn't know that it was Lilith." Marley told her dad.

Catarina nodded and agreed with Marley. "The past is the past. But you and I both know you're powerful enough to reverse this."

"Well, that's the problem. I'm too powerful for my own good. Too powerful for anyone's good." Magnus added a sprinkle of dust in the potion and a big cloud of smoke lights up. "The elixir's irreversible."

Catarina was approaching them at the table. "Jace was already compromised before your elixir ever touched his lips. It's not gonna be easy, but don't act like you're a helpless 40-year-old warlock. You're Magnus Bane. Now I've gotta get home to Madzie. Babysitter must be exhausted. But don't give up. Do what you do best. Think outside the box." Then she took her coat and walked out the door as Magnus got back to work and Marley went over to the couch to get some rest.

Not much later, Magnus was pouring himself a drink when suddenly, out of thin air, Izzy, Alec, and Jace - still in the light cage - appeared in his living room. "Well, this is certainly a surprise." Magnus comment.

"Indeed." Marley comment as well.

Then Jace was chuckling. "You really think that this thing can contain me? You're even stupider than I thought."

"We're gonna save you, Jace." Alec told him.

Jace looked at him. "Good luck. It's only a matter of time before Lilith finds me. Finds you. You'll all be dead by sunrise."

"I don't think so." Izzy shook with her head. "We will battle her with everything we've got. We won't let her take you again."

Then, Jace looked at her. "When you're delusional confidence gets you killed, I'll be sure to tell your mundane boyfriend that you died in a tragic jewelry-making accident."

Alec looked at Marley and Magnus. "At least he's safe from the Clave."

"Yeah." Marely nodded.

"For the time being." Magnus added.
