A few days later, Marley woke up Alec, who had a day off. "Good morning, sun shine."
Alec woke up, hearing her. "Why are you so happy?"
"Why can't I be happy?" Marely frowned. "Our child is doing great, my dad is doing okay and I made breakfast."
Alec sat straight up. "Breakfast?!" He exclaimed.
"Yes, sweetie, I made breakfast for you day off." Marley replied to him. "I made it myself without magic, I wanted to do something new and not to remind my dad, that he hasn't his magic anymore. Besides, I did already cook with my adopted mother, who was killed by a demon and that's how I met you guys." She finished off a bit sarcastically. Then she placed the food on his lap. "Here, the food."
"Okay, are you on your period or something, cause you have moods swings." Alec pointed it out, but then he took a bite from his food.
Marley grabbed a piece of bread. "Why would you think that?" She asked to him.
"Because you are cranky." Alec replied to his girlfriend.
"Thanks, sweetie, that's what every girlfriend wants to hear." Marely scoffed a little.
"Sorry, but it's the truth." Alec told her.
Then, Marley sighed. "I don't think my dad can keep up with this new trainer, he's only flirting with him and only that. That's what I had heard from the trainer." She told him. "I think, he's gonna crash down in a few days if not sooner. And I know for a fact that he can already protect himself, he's just messing with this trainer."
"Why does he need to train, then? And why do you think that?" Alec asked to her.
"Well, you will see later today." Marley replied to him.
"What do you mean?" Alec asked confused.
"Dad, wanted us to see china town and other things." Marley replied to him as she took another piece of bread.
"Oi!" Alec exclaimed. "Don't take my breakfast." He told her as then he had a serious face on. "But why the rush?"
"I don't know, I only hear him muttering about the next 40 years or so…" Marley replied to him. "He's mortal know, remember?"
"Yes, I do remember, but it's a lot of years left." Alec replied to her.
"For you, yes, for my dad, who has lived an immortal live not." Marley comment. "Besides, I'm immortal as well. I will have you guys watch as you grow older and I don't."
"That isn't a problem for me and you know it, we are happy." Alec told her.
"I know." Marley nodded. "But still I worry for my dad."
"I understand." Alec comment, then he pulled her into a hug.
"Thanks, I needed that." Marley smiled at him as he smiled back and they kissed as then they hear their son cries.
Alec put the food away as then he stood up. "I will go and you don't eat my breakfast." He playfully warned her as then he walked away to their son's room.
Later, they brought Aiden to a babysitter as then they went to China Town. Then it was nighttime, Alec, Marley and Magnus were still busy following Magnus' plan for the day. "Magnus, can we just slow down for a second?" Alec asked to him.
"Dad, please." Marley complained.
"Oh, certainly. I have a quick stop planned right before late night dim sum." Magnus replied to them.
"No, I just mean, I mean right now." Alec told him, seriously.
"I suppose you're right. It is rather exhausting hopping from place to place without portals. How do you mortals do it?" Magnus took a picture of something as then Alec pulled him away just in time before he got hit by a biker.
"We don't." Alec had thought what he needed to say. "This whole mortality thing is gonna take some… getting used to."
"Alec's right, dad." Marley comment.
"Perhaps more than I realized." Magnus sighed. "I've been lucky to live a life relatively free of FOMO. You can't blame me for wanting to make each moment count."
"Of course not. It's just… the thing about moments is that you'll miss them if you're always running after the next one. When I'm, I'm not gonna remember the trendy gallery or the amazing Greek food we had if we don't slow down…" Alec told him seriously.
"It's just that, we only remember our loved ones and what they mean to us, nothing else matters." Marley added. "Dad,, that the important thing about live."
"Of course. Everything I need is right here in front of me." Magnus pointed at them.
"Glad, you understand." Marley comment to him.
Suddenly a fire message flow into Alec's hand. "What is it?" Magnus asked worried.
Alec read it. "It's a message from Jace. Clary might still be alive."
Back at the institute, Jace and Luke are informing Alec, Marley and Magnus on the Jonathan and Clary situation in the Center. "We can confirm that the apartment jumped again early this morning." Jace told them.
"And we have good reason to believe that Clary was in it." Luke added.
"The problem is she could be anywhere." Jace finished.
Magnus hummed. "Well, not 'anywhere'."
"What do you mean?" Alec asked.
"I'm confused." Marley comment.
Magnus pulled up holographic graphs on the table. "Inter-dimensional domiciles run along ley line grids. Based on the apartment's size and power, there are only a handful of habitable regions with grid junctions large enough to support it."
"All right. Well, let's get a list of all places that fit the prole and check any nearby Institutes for unusual activity." Alec looked at Magnus. "Magnus, you must have some international warlock friends who could keep an eye out for us?"
"Well, I'm not one to name drop, but… I'll make a few calls." Magnus nodded as then he walked away.
"I will help him." Marley comment, following after her father.
"Even if we check all these places, it's still like finding a needle in a hay stack." Luke comment.
"Then we better start now." Jace told him. "Hey. We're gonna find her."
Alec was looking over a map. "I think I've got something." Jace, Luke, Marley and Magnus got to the table. "A Shadowhunter in Paris just reported his stele missing."
"Do they have any suspects?" Jace asked.
Alec nodded. "They think it's a rogue Shadowhunter. A young woman."
"Clary." Jace comment, nodding.
Moments later, they went through a portal as Clary saw them. She jumped in front of Jonathan. "Wait! Don't shoot! If you kill him, I die too."
"Everybody, stand down!" Luke shouted. Alec lowered his arrow.
"I knew I never should have trusted you!" Jonathan hissed at Clary.
"Let's be real, Jonathan. We never trusted each other." Clary pulled Jonathan's dagger from his belt and stabbed it into her own leg, making Jonathan fall to the ground.
"You little bitch!" Jonathan got up and runs away with super speed.
Clary pulled the dagger out of her leg. "Ah!"
Luke, Marley and Alec tried to see if they can spot Jonathan, but he's gone. The dagger slipped from Clary's hand and she almost fell to the ground. "Clary!" Jace rushed over to her, holding her and activates her iratze with his stele. They rise and Jace held Clary in a hug. "I can't believe I'm holding you." Je comment.
"I can't believe it either." Clary breathed it out.
They kissed as then Jace chuckled. "I always had this dream that one day, I'd take you to Paris."
"Well, here we are." Clary comment to him.
"I'm not sure this is exactly how I imagined it." Jace pointed it out.
"No… Somehow, it's better." Clary told him as then they kissed again.
