Now with that little spiel out of the way, two notes before we continue. One: I will be re-using the journal format I used in the original Injustice Dragons Among Us to make it feel like a true sequel, only modified slightly to include a few more things. And two: this chapter is probably going to be the shortest one, as the first chapter generally has been recently. So let's not waste any more time. Begin the 35th Story!

Spyro's Log
Its been five years since our strange adventure against the High Councilor. To be honest, I still can't believe there's another world like that out there. But needless to say, seeing how bad a hero like Superman can go, has strangely reinvigorated my dedication to do this job. I've spoken with everyone, and they all agree. But thankfully, things have been pretty peaceful as of recent, well, save one thing.
(Now we see the scene we're walking into, where we see Spyro and Cynder, gliding into the scene of what looks like a prison of some kind, where a bunch of soldiers are milling around. As they get closer, we see it's actually Concurrent Skies, Cynder's old lair)
Spyro: You'd think these guys would give up by now. Malefor's been dead nearly a decade.
Cynder: Some people just do not want to give up on a cause.
Spyro: I guess.
Cynder: So what's the situation?
Spyro: Bunch of Malefor's former followers escaped their containment and took over Concurrent Skies. Attempting to break their leader out of the central containment area. And they've got some hostages to boot.
Cynder: Then we need to get in there and stop them. Immediately.
(And just like that, the two go into action, sneaking around the grounds and taking out a few of the guards around the scene, knocking them all unconscious before heading inside.)
Cynder: Do we have any information on the hostages?
Spyro: Mostly the guards from the facility, but I was vaguely told there's someone important among them.
Cynder: Seems like less Intel than we usually get from Hunter.
Spyro: No idea what's going on there. Let's just focus on the mission.
(And just like that, we transition to the inside, still as gloomy as it's ever been, where stashed in a cage in the center of the room are a set of 15 people, no doubt the hostages Spyro mentioned earlier. Surrounding them are at least five armed enemy guards, led by someone in a prison jumpsuit. As we see this scene, Spyro and Cynder sneak into the shadows above the platform)
Cynder: Any idea who we're dealing with here?
Spyro: (Observing the hostages) Looks like a fairly standard bunch, guards and the like. I can't get a beat on who Hunter's important person is.
Cynder: (Looking at the hostages again) I think I've spotted them. Take a look at the center of the group.
(With that, Spyro looks at the group's center and sees a familiar mole)
Spyro: Isn't that the old Warfang cannon operator?
Cynder: That's him alright.
Spyro: You always did have a better memory for faces than I do.
Cynder: Right now, we need to focus on the mission.
And just like that we're jumping into the fray, taking out armed guards as we go. Unfortunately, the leader of the group caught on to us straightaway, and he grabbed a shank and one of the hostages, holding him to his leg. And of course, it was the old cannon operator. Just our luck.
Group Leader: Don't come any closer or I'll slit his throat!
Spyro: Alright, let's calm things down a bit.
Group Leader: Like you kept things calm when you arrested us simply for exercising our beliefs?!
Cynder: There's a difference between exercising beliefs and domestic terrorism. Trying to blow up the city of Warfang is definitely one of the latter!
Group Leader: You will prosecute us no longer! By the time I'm done...
Needless to say, I'm already tired of this guy, so I just use my old Dragon Time ability to rush up to his face before he could see me and punch him in the face, knocking him unconscious and getting the hostage out of there.
Cynder: Did you really just do that?
Spyro: I was not in the mood for a rambling speech today. (To the hostage) Are you okay?
Cannon Operator: I'm fine. (Sees something Spyro and Cynder are unaware of) But are you two okay?
Cynder: What are you talking about?
Cannon Operator: You're literally glowing!
That's when I noticed it, he's right. Cynder and I were literally glowing blue. But it wasn't just any blue glow, it was a familiar blue glow, one that both Cynder and I recognized.
Spyro: No way.
Cynder: You've got to be kidding me.
Spyro and Cynder: Not Again!
(And just like that, the two of them vanish in a flash of light, ending our tale for today)
And that seems like a good spot to wrap up the intro to our 35th Story. Don't worry about the lack of DC characters, they'll start appearing in the next chapter, just like last time. In case it wasn't obvious, I'm kind of splitting Chapter 1 of the story mode in half. Next time will really be the second half of Chapter 1. Now, that aside, there's one thing left to do. What makes this story unique, or rather, what I'm doing different. As anyone who's done research on Injustice 2's story mode will know, the final chapter of the story mode is dependent upon a player choice between Batman or Superman. So we're going to do something using that. On my profile page, you'll find a poll with three options on it. Each of these corresponds to a variation on the ending. There's a Regime option, an Insurgency option, and a third, pretty much neutral, option. So over the course of the story's life, up until Chapter 11 gets up, vote on which ending you want to see first. I'll be typing up all three, and releasing them in the order based on the poll on the Friday of the update session. So, what awaits Spyro and Cynder on the other side of the blue glow? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
