Welcome back to Injustice Dragons Among Us 2. Last time, Spyro headed into the depths of Slaughter Swamp, and with the aid of Red Hood, Harley Quinn, the Atom, and fellow marshland dweller Swamp Thing, stopped a shipment of Fear Gas headed straight for Gorilla Grodd courtesy of Scarecrow. So, what's next on the docket? Read on to discover...

(Our tale picks up in what looks like Ancient Egypt, but is in fact a modern nation. This is Kahndaq, the home of Black Adam, one of the more notorious Regime members still left uncaptured, and with him stands one that was captured but managed to escape, Wonder Woman, who has just kicked a column in anger)

Wonder Woman: All of this time, and we still can't even leave Kahndaq!

Black Adam: The time will come, Diana. We will free Kal-El and restore the Regime.

Wonder Woman: Freeing Kal-El will do us no good if Luthor and Batman are still running around. We will have to get rid of them first.

(As Wonder Woman says this, Black Adam receives a message)

Black Adam: It appears our troubles are multiplying. The dragons have returned.

Wonder Woman: You must be kidding.

Black Adam: I am not.

Wonder Woman: Then we haven't a moment to lose. We must strike as soon as possible.

Black Adam: I agree. The time is coming sooner than we expected.

(At this point, we transition back to the secret Batcave, where Spyro and his team from the last chapter are re-entering)

Spyro's Log

Well that mission was honestly more intense than I expected. I can only hope those Society fools learned a lesson from that, not to challenge a dragon who grew up in a swamp on his home turf. Especially not one where Swamp Thing lives. Though I'm definitely going to need a shower afterwards.

(As the group enters, we see Cynder, Batgirl, and Black Canary sharing war stories as Green Arrow and Lex Luthor ponder Brother Eye)

Harley Quinn: We're home!

Lex Luthor: Nice work out there in the swamps. Impressive strategy to have Ryan shrink those mines onto Jason's bullets.

Atom: That's exactly what I told him!

Spyro: Wait, how did you see that?

Lex Luthor: Lucius came down and helped us get past Brother Eye's protections. We've got a look into what Bruce is working on.

Green Arrow: And let me tell you, the rabbit hole only grows deeper from here.

Spyro: We'll leave you to work on that. (As the girls join the meeting) What's the next mission?

Lex Luthor: An extradition mission.

Cynder: Who's the target?

(With that, Lex Luthor pulls up a familiar simian visage)

Lex Luthor: Gorilla Grodd. Our best chance to stop whatever he and his secret society of supervillains have up their sleeves is a pre-emptive strike.

Black Canary: Seems more military than vigilante. Have we tried calling in the military?

Lex Luthor: That's kind of the thing, there is no military. Breaking up the Regime had to be done from the ground up. We still haven't re-established the armed forces yet.

Cynder: Explains why you called us back in. Even this group, as great as Supergirl probably is, is unlikely to be able to take down Grodd at his full power, not to mention his army. At least that's what your files have lead me to believe.

Lex Luthor: The army's the easy part. Grodd's the Alpha, take him out and the rest surrender.

Cynder: Sounds like a good time. Count me in.

Black Canary: Me too.

Green Arrow: Guess that means I'm going too. Better call the sitter and let them know we're going to be later than expected.

Lex Luthor: Ollie, Dinah, I couldn't possibly ask you to do this. You've both been out of this game so long, you have a family now. I can get Blue Beetle and Firestorm to take over from here, if you'd like.

Black Canary: And it's not just my kid. It's all of you as well. I wasn't able to finish the battle with Superman, I'll be damned if I leave this one unfinished too.

Spyro: You can count me in for this mission as well. If Grodd's as strong as you make him out to be.

Lex Luthor: Excellent. I've got a plane set up to sneak you into Gorilla City under cover of darkness. Harley, you're flying them in

Cynder: Then let's get moving.

(With that, we transition to a sunlit city, clearly the next day, where Spyro, Cynder, Harley Quinn, Green Arrow, and Black Canary stand behind a tree, observing an army of armored gorillas)

Cynder's Log

Gorilla City. Sounds like some place Gaul would've come up with. In fact, everything I've read about Grodd seems to liken him to Gaul in some way or another. Megalomaniacal primate with delusions of grandeur. Only this Grodd guy serves no master from what I'm seeing. Don't know if that makes him easier to take out, or harder. I guess we'll find out.

Cynder: Looks like we arrived just in time for Grodd's little pep rally.

(And just like that, the armored ape himself takes the stage, Gorilla Grodd has arrived)

Grodd: Gorilla City, this is our time! Today we break the yoke of oppression once and for all! The Regime and the Justice League are a thing of the past! Today the world welcomes it's new masters. THE SOCIETY!

(And just like that, Grodd is joined on stage by seven other supervillains. Some we've already encountered like Poison Ivy, Deadshot, and Scarecrow. But others unfamiliar, revealing Cheetah, Captain Cold, Bane, and Catwoman)

Spyro: Wait, he's got Bane? Thought for sure Diana would've recruited him back first thing.

Green Arrow: Guess Grodd had the bigger Venom fund.

Cynder: What's really surprising is that Selina's up there. Last I checked she was really more Insurgency committal than she let on to Superman.

Black Canary: That's the thing you need to know about Catwoman. She's two faced to the end.

Grodd: Today, we show the world that WE are superior, and bring anyone who would oppose us to their knees!

(Needless to say this is a great moment for the soldiers, who erupt into uproarious applause and arming of weapons)

Harley Quinn: That's a lot more than a few members of the Society. It's literally all of them!

Spyro: Prime opportunity for us then. What do you say? Each take two a piece?

Black Canary: They're heading inside as is. We'll round them up there, away from the soldiers.

Harley Quinn: I'll just go warm up the jet for takeoff.

Cynder: Actually a good idea. We'll take this mission from here.

(Now we transition to inside another one of Gorilla City's domes, where Gorilla Grodd, Catwoman, Captain Cold, Cheetah, and Bane are all gathered.)

Catwoman: You laid it on a bit thick in there Grodd. Are you sure you didn't hire Superman's speech writer?

Grodd: Soldiers must be properly motivated for them to sacrifice their lives.

Bane: And hatred is the perennial motivator.

Captain Cold: Then you'd better ensure that hatred doesn't turn on us, or this little "Society" is over.

Grodd: As long as our agenda remains common, Captain, you needn't fear me.

Cheetah: And by that you mean as long as we follow orders.

(Before Gorilla Grodd can respond, Deadshot enters the scene)

Grodd: Deadshot, report.

Deadshot: We're ready to move out at any time.

Grodd: Good dog. Now, you, Cold and Cheetah need to prepare to ship out. You're with the first wave.

Captain Cold: We already lost the shipment from Slaughter Swamp, hope this silent partner of yours can pull through.

(And as those three leave, we see our four heroes sneaking into frame as the remaining three start talking)

Catwoman: Perhaps it's time you spilled the beans on who this silent partner is, since we're relying so much on them.

Cynder: Silent partner?

Spyro: It's definitely time to get more info out of Grodd.

Grodd: He will make himself known soon enough.

Cynder: Not soon enough to save your mangy hide!

(And with that, the first strike is made. Cynder and Black Canary knock down the charging supervillains with a Wind blast and Canary Cry respectively.)

Grodd: Well, well, one of the dragons who sabotaged us at Slaughter Swamp. (To Bane and Catwoman) Handle them.

Bane: Gladly.

Catwoman: (Cracking her whip) I call first dibs.

Cynder: Spyro, Ollie, you handle big green over there. Dinah and I got this cat in the bag.

(With that, Spyro and Green Arrow dash off to handle Bane while the girls are about to have a smackdown.)

Black Canary: And once again you turn traitor, Selena.

Cynder: Remind me again what Batman saw in her?

Catwoman: I've got nine lives, you know. I'm only a traitor in most of them.

(And with that remark, the literal catfight begins. The advantage in numbers shared by Cynder and Black Canary gives them some advantage over Catwoman, though her scrappiness serves her well, and as well she seemingly keeps getting back up after supposedly being knocked out, save the last time, which Cynder delivers with the flat end of her tail blade)

Black Canary: Well there go some of your lives.

Cynder: I'd think at least seven.

(As Catwoman lies there defeated, we hear a scream as Spyro and Green Arrow are flung back into the scene)

Black Canary: Looks like you need to work on your graceful landings, Ollie.

Spyro: (Checking that his wing isn't broken) You try landing gracefully when that flings you across the room.

(And just as Spyro makes his remark, Bane re-enters as well, activating his Venom pumps to give himself a boost in strength.)

Black Canary: That's not good.

Cynder: Only way we're getting past him is to snip his tubes.

Green Arrow: Good luck getting through the suit to do that.

Black Canary: Obviously she means the Venom tubes.

Bane: How kind of Luthor to send his underlings. I will enjoy sending you back to him in body bags.

(In this moment, a decision is made)

Spyro: Cynder's got the sharper blades of the two of us.

Cynder: Dinah and I will take snipping duty then, you and Ollie distract jolly green over there.

Green Arrow: Will do.

(And as Black Canary and Cynder run around to get behind Bane, Spyro lights the tip of one of Green Arrow's arrows on fire before shooting it at Bane, which he catches, not feeling anything as a fire burns down the arrow and onto his hand)

Bane: (Breaking the arrow) I will break your backs as easily as this arrow!

Spyro: Good luck with that, my spine's stronger than you think.

(Now the rematch begins, and this time, Spyro's not underestimating Bane's strength. With a few shots from Green Arrow to lay cover fire, Spyro manages to knock Bane down a few pegs)

Spyro: Cynder, Dinah, now!

(As Bane gets back up, Cynder and Black Canary run back into scene and slice open Bane's Venom Tubes)

Bane: No!

(As his Venom stops flowing, Spyro leaps over the girls and hits Bane with his Fire breath, knocking him out)

Cynder: Wasn't the Fire breath a little much?

Spyro: He was too big an enemy for a charge to have any effect. Flames seemed like the next best alternative.

Cynder: (Rolling her eyes with a humored smirk) Classic.

Green Arrow: Now where'd that damn dirty ape get off too.

Spyro: Good question. We seem to have lost track of Grodd in the chaos.

(But just as the quartet ponders what's next, a flash of light from what looks like a black hole appears on stage, followed by a glowing symbol of an ankh as Doctor Fate enters the scene)

Doctor Fate: I come to you in a moment of darkness...

(And just as Doctor Fate enters, our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good cliff-hanger to end on for today. Yes I know I only adapted half of Chapter 3 in this chapter, but it's such a long chapter with so much stuff going on that it really needs to be split in multiple parts to do it justice. At least with this modified story I have. Don't worry, there will be some more modifications down the line. Remember, Luthor has agents in the Society. And I will tell you this, they're not who you think. You'll see who they are going forward. So, what does Doctor Fate have to say? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
