Welcome back to Injustice Dragons Among Us 2. Last time Cynder had the most unlikely team up she's probably ever had, in this case, teaming up with Wonder Woman, someone she notably has a rivalry with in this universe, taking out Society members in Metropolis. The battle ended in a dark moment however, as Harley Quinn arrived from Gotham to stop Wonder Woman from killing Cheetah, succeeding at the cost of being critically injured herself. Supergirl and Cynder ended the encounter with Wonder Woman by flying Harley towards help. So will she get the help needed to survive her wounds? Read on to discover... (Fair warning, this chapter may be shorter than usual)
(Our tale resumes in the newly recaptured Batcave, where Spyro and Lex Luthor are overseeing things from Brother Eye, and the stress is clearly getting to them)
Lex Luthor: So far that's two cities evacuated.
Spyro: Not good enough. If Kara's to be believed, we've got less than 30 minutes before Brainiac starts whatever his next phase is.
(Just as everything appears to be going wrong, things get worse as Supergirl and Cynder burst into the scene with a now unconscious Harley Quinn.)
Supergirl: GET HELP!
(Supergirl's cry draws the attention of Lex Luthor and Supergirl, seeing what's happened to Harley Quinn, and immediately rush to their aid)
Spyro: What happened here?
Cynder: Harley showed up and stopped Wonder Woman from killing Cheetah, only to end up taking a sword to the abdomen. I tried to save her, but...
Spyro: (Now embracing Cynder, in an attempt to calm her) You did all you could.
Lex Luthor: Wait, what happened to Wonder Woman?
Cynder: I gave her a repeat of the thrashing she got in Themyscira five years ago.
Lex Luthor: Brother Eye, open the medical bay.
Brother Eye: Acknowledged. Medical procedures activated.
(With that statement, Brother Eye shapes the Batcave into a makeshift medical bay, ready to attempt to heal Harley Quinn, and from the immediate vitals we're getting, things aren't going well.)
Lex Luthor: She's already crashing!
Spyro: (Rushing into the scene) Harley, don't die on me now! We've already almost lost you once today, I'm not letting that happen again!
(At this point, the entire group goes into life saving mode, hoping beyond hope to save Harley Quinn from an untimely death. They regain steady vitals for what looks like several minutes, but in reality was probably only several seconds, but it did happen several times as Harley Quinn crashed more than a few times during all of this. Spyro had to act as a defibrillator a few times, restarting her heart more than once, only for it to stop again. Clearly Wonder Woman's wound did a lot of damage, but even they couldn't have expected how bad it was. Wonder Woman's blow pierced something major, though it's unclear what from the angle we're viewing it at. Spyro and Lex Luthor try for what feels like an hour, but ultimately, it's in vain, as Harley Quinn's vitals drop off to nothing, and before long, she breathes her last, leaving Spyro to just hang his head, as Cynder almost collapses and Supergirl looks on in horror.)
Lex Luthor: I'm sorry.
Cynder: I'm going to kill Diana for this if I see her again.
Spyro: I don't blame you.
Lex Luthor: Neither do I, but if you kill her, you're no better than her.
Cynder: Clearly you've been hanging around with Batman for too long. Didn't you agree with Clark killing the Joker?
Lex Luthor: I mean, yes, but...
Cynder: Harley got no trial, no fair chance, no justice. All she did was try to enforce the rules we had all already agreed upon, and Wonder Woman cut her down with no remorse.
Spyro: You're right. It's clear she can't be trusted anymore. We need to let everyone know.
Lex Luthor: I'll send the message out, you go tell Clark and Bruce.
(With that, Spyro, Cynder, and Supergirl head out, leaving Lex Luthor to make the announcement over the comm system)
Lex Luthor: Attention everyone. It saddens me beyond belief to make this announcement. But one of our own has been struck down. Doctor Harleen Quinzel has been killed in the line of duty, but not by Brainiac's forces. She was struck down by Wonder Woman. But we must not let our grief stop us. We must carry on and stop this invasion in her memory. It's what Harley would've wanted...
(And with that, Lex Luthor gets off the line, and as he looks back at Harley Quinn's corpse, just breaks down crying, ending our tale for today)
And that looks like a good spot to end for now. Yes, sadly, Harley Quinn does not make it out of this version of Injustice 2. I know, just about everyone loves her, but I felt her death could prove a good reason to not pick the Superman ending in the actual game. In a way, she's just like Shazam was in the last game, only for Supergirl instead of Flash. Now then, how is Superman going to react to all of this once he finds out? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
