Welcome back to Injustice Dragons Among Us 2. Last time, things went down at the Rock of Eternity, where Blue Beetle was revealed to be under the control of Gorilla Grodd from the moment he appeared in Kahndaq. But eventually they snapped him out of the trance before facing Gorilla Grodd himself, with the ape ultimately getting himself killed by Cynder's claws. Now, we finally learn, will this plan even work? Read on to discover...

(Our tale resumes back in the Rock of Eternity, where we once again see, Black Adam seated upon the Wizard's throne, Aquaman having handed over the trident, and Cynder prepared to energize the faltering Rock of Eternity. But as we enter the scene, she sees something... off in Black Adam's eyes.)

Cynder: I sense you're hiding something from us, Adam.

Black Adam: (Realizing someone has seen it, then with a sigh) It appears Grodd was right, you are the smartest person in this room.

Aquaman: What aren't you telling us, Adam?

Black Adam: Casting the magic out of the Rock of Eternity like this, will cast it from me as well, rendering myself mortal again.

Cynder: Wait, aren't you about 3000 years old?

Black Adam: Exactly. If absorbing this much power from the Rock doesn't kill me, then returning to my mortal state certainly will.

Cynder: We can't go through with this, then. There's got to be another way.

Black Adam: There is no other way. Only the Rock of Eternity has the power to break Brainiac's shields. I am fully willing to sacrifice myself, if it means saving this world from Brainiac.

(At this point, Cynder realizes there's no way to convince him to not do this, and just looks at him with a slight smile)

Cynder: I guess all that time working with Billy Batson really changed you, didn't it?

Black Adam: (Recalling his time with Shazam when both were with the Regime) Yes, I guess it has. (Taking Aquaman's trident, and energizing it with some of the Rock of Eternity's magic) Now, go. We don't have much time.

(With that, Aquaman takes the trident back and runs out with Cynder flying behind him, getting one last look at Black Adam before he dies, as she picks up Blue Beetle to get him to safety. As she turns around, we transition back to Kahndaq, where we see Green Arrow and Black Canary waking up from Gorilla Grodd's control and their own unconsciousness)

Black Canary: How's your head?

Green Arrow: Still a bit empty.

Black Canary: (With a bit of loving sarcasm) So not much has changed.

(But just as they get back in the game, the portal to the Rock of Eternity opens, leaving Aquaman and Cynder, still carrying Blue Beetle to dash out)

Aquaman: Canary! Arrow! Out of the way!

Cynder: Hot stuff, coming through!

(As Aquaman plants his trident firmly in the ground and Cynder ushers Black Canary and Green Arrow to safety with the still unconscious Blue Beetle, we transition back to the Rock of Eternity for one moment, as Black Adam pulls in the power of the mystical place, knowing full well what's going to happen to him, then, as the power hits its zenith, he lets out his last cry)

Black Adam: SHAZAM!

(With his final cry, the power of the Rock of Eternity is flung from him and through the portal, leaving only a withered old man to collapse onto the floor, finally letting death take him with one act of heroism. As Black Adam dies, we transition back to Kahndaq, where Aquaman's trident is struck by the lightning Black Adam sent. Mustering all the force he can, Aquaman withstands the blow and sends it skyward, his will alone telling it where the magic is most needed. Seeing this is her opportunity, Cynder flies after the bolt, somehow becoming magically entangled with it as she flies, transporting herself through space and time. As she flies though, we transition back to where Metropolis once stood, where Batman and Supergirl are waiting for their plan to succeed)

Batman: (Into the Bat-Wing's communicator) Cyborg, how's that signal disruptor coming?

(At that exact moment, Cyborg and Lex Luthor step through a Boom Tube, entering the scene, throwing the signal disruptor to Batman)

Cyborg: All you've got to do is hit the trigger.

Lex Luthor: But it only works with a limited area. You're going to have to be within arm's reach of Brainiac for it to have any effect.

Supergirl: (Cracking her knuckles) Good.

(As the final preparations are made, thunder strikes the area, followed by bursts of lightning as the magic from the Rock of Eternity arrives, with Cynder in tow, somehow magically unbinding herself from the lightning. But as she resumes her prior state of existence, the lightning hits the Skull Ship, garnering some worry from Brainiac inside.)

Cyborg: (Examining the situation) It worked! The shields are down!

Cynder: Now's our chance! (To Batman) Hope you're broadcasting this, Bruce.

Batman: (Turning on the communicator) Give the order.

Cynder: Kara, Lex, Bruce, you're with me. Everyone else, intercept and destroy as many of those Beta bombs as you can.

(With the order given, Batman fires up the Bat-Wing, Lex Luthor activates the propulsion system on his Warsuit, and with Supergirl ready to beat Brainiac to a pulp, the group flies off towards the disabled Skull Ship. Along the way they're intercepted by a few drones, but ultimately the quartet plows through them and manages to fly one by one into the base of the Skull Ship, with Cynder specifically being the last one through)

Cynder: Hang on Spyro, we're coming.

(And with that line, Cynder flies up to join her comrades, ending our tale for today)

And that looks like a good spot to wrap up. So, we're nearing the endgame now. The final strike on Brainiac's ship is about to happen. And that means we'll be nearing the endings soon. So make sure you vote in the poll. Currently the plan is to close the poll in late January or early February, before the first ending goes live, so you've only got a few weeks left to vote for which one you want to see first. That aside, how will the team take to the Skull Ship's interior? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
