Welcome back to Injustice Dragons Among Us 2. Last time, the Rock of Eternity plan worked, albeit at the cost of Black Adam's life. And just as things were ending, Cynder, Supergirl, Lex Luthor, and Batman took to the skies to start the final assault on the Skull Ship. As we left, they had just flown in through an exhaust port. So, how is this going to go? Read on to discover...
(Our story resumes within the Skull Ship, where our heroes are still dodging the few aerial drones that followed them in. But they do manage to get a good shot in on the Bat-Wing, causing it to crash, but Batman is able to escape, but is surrounded by Brainiac's drones. Thankfully for the Dark Knight, Cynder, Supergirl, and Lex Luthor are able to take them out from the air. With the enemy taken out, the group comes back together and heads deeper into the bowels of the Skull Ship, Batman leading the way using Cyborg's signal jammer to try and locate Brainiac's control room.)
Batman: The signal gets stronger this way.
(Just as everybody appear to be getting along fine, Supergirl hears something and nearly collapses due to not being used to her super hearing, but Lex Luthor is able to catch her)
Lex Luthor: Kara, what's happening?
Supergirl: (Pointing towards the door in front of them) Voices. Billions of them!
Cynder: (Putting it all together) I think I know what's beyond this door.
(Now Cynder takes the lead, and as the door opens, the quartet is confronted by a room filled with floating orbs. Supergirl continues to pick up on these billions of voices, but she's at least able to keep standing at this point)
Supergirl: So many languages...
Batman: What is this place?
Cynder: If I had to guess, this is where Brainiac keeps his collection.
(At this point, Supergirl spots a familiar tongue, and rushes over to one of the collected cities, one she recognizes)
Lex Luthor: That's odd. I don't recognize this city.
Supergirl: I do. It's Kandor! (Gestures to another orb) And that's Argo City! They're the cities Brainiac stole from Krypton, population and all!
Batman: Wait, are you telling me there's more Kryptonians in these orbs?
Supergirl: If they can be restored, yes.
Lex Luthor: I'm not sure they can be restored.
Supergirl: There's got to be a way!
(But as the group argues over what to do next, steel tendrils slowly emerge from the walls, until they strike, binding the entire group as Brainiac and his drones surround them. However, Brainiac takes special interest in Supergirl, as well as Cynder to a point.)
Brainiac: Kara Zor-El. Up until now I had thought my collection of Krypton was complete. Your capture will make it so.
(At this point, Brainiac's tendrils pull Supergirl somehow through the wall, as he turns his attention to Lex Luthor and Batman)
Brainiac: You two have opposed me at every turn, and have failed. You are not unique, each just another mundane example of a primitive species. (To Cynder) Yet you have proven very interesting indeed. Once I am finished with Earth, I will use your genetic material to find the world from whence you came, and it will be the next in my collection. (To one of his drones) Harvest her.
(With Batman and Lex Luthor unable to do anything, one of Brainiac's drones steps forward, with what looks like a rope spear ready to fire from it's hand. But just as it's fired, something, or two somethings rather, speed through the drone army. One of these blurs destroys the tendrils surrounding Batman and Lex Luthor while the second stops the rope spear in it's tracks, and now we see exactly what caused these effects: Spyro and Superman, alive and well)
Cynder: (Seeing her violet beloved) Spyro?
Spyro: Miss me? Or rather, us?
Batman: (As Superman puts him and Lex Luthor on the ground) And here I thought I could make an entrance.
Superman: Wait, where's Kara?
Cynder: Brainiac's got her captured somewhere on the ship.
Spyro: Don't worry, Clark. We'll find her.
Cynder: As much as I wish we could spend all the time we could looking, we've only got 20 minutes before Brainiac's Beta units turn this planet into a dead hunk of rock.
Spyro: Wait, if that's the case, then why did only you four come in here?
Batman: Everybody else is attacking the Betas, just in case we don't make it.
Superman: They needn't worry about that. We'll pull through.
(And with that, the group continues on their mission, searching the ship for either Brainiac or Supergirl, but just as they make it through a hole, another familiar face encounters them. It's Firestorm, and it's clear he's not friendly at this point.)
Cynder: Firestorm? What...? When did you get here? And why do you look like you're ready to fight us?
Firestorm: (In a voice not his own) Brainiac unified our dueling minds. No longer divided, we think as one.
Superman: (To Lex Luthor) He's your living thermonuclear device, how do we get past him?
Lex Luthor: Very carefully.
(With that, the mind controlled Firestorm fires on our heroes, who attempt to get past him but get grabbed by the nuclear man. And it turns out Firestorm isn't alone, as before anyone can react, Swamp Thing emerges, grabbing the more grounded heroes, and slinging them into the heroes Firestorm grabbed, causing a midair collision.)
Spyro: (As everyone gets back up) Oh, come on! He's got Swamp Thing too?!
Firestorm: (In a voice not his own) Brainiac has unlocked the Green's power. He has mastered the Firestorm Matrix. All knowledge will be subsumed under his collection.
Superman: I've heard enough about Brainiac and his collection.
Spyro: And quite frankly, I have to agree.
(Realizing Spyro and Superman have this, Cynder leads Batman and Lex Luthor aside)
Superman: You talked a big game back at Stryker's Island, Firestorm. Let's see if you're all talk.
Firestorm: (In a voice not his own) Your immense power is finite. The Firestorm Matrix has no limits.
Spyro: We'll see about that.
(Now begins the battle of the unlikeliest of allies: Spyro and the former High Councilor seem to work as a natural pair, even against Firestorm's transmutational abilities. And before long, the duo emerges victorious)
Spyro: Limit, reached.
(While all of this is going on, Cynder, Batman, and Lex Luthor are busy distracting Swamp Thing, and almost have the Guardian of the Green on his back, but then he calls in reinforcements as Spyro and Superman rejoin the fray.)
Superman: Please tell me somebody has a plan.
Lex Luthor: It's a work in progress, but we may be able to restore them.
Spyro: Clark and I'll take out the reinforcements, you three go for the not-so-jolly green giant.
Cynder: Gladly.
(With that, Superman and Spyro start trying to incinerate the drones, but they put up a shield, blocking the attack as the other three rush in to battle Swamp Thing)
Superman: That's new.
(Meanwhile, the rest of the team charges Swamp Thing, with Cynder getting a clear impression that the being Spyro encountered in Slaughter Swamp isn't there right now)
Cynder: Swamp Thing, hear me! Your power's being used against you! Against the very Green you swore to protect!
Swamp Thing: (In a voice not his own) Brainiac is now the Green's protector. It will live forever, preserved in his collection.
(Now the battle begins. With aid of the Luthor-Wayne alliance that is Lex Luthor and Batman, Cynder has Swamp Thing on his back in a matter of minutes)
Cynder: Now let's see if we can get you two free.
(With the rest of the drones defeated, Superman and Spyro drag Firestorm over to where Swamp Thing rests, while Batman hits them with the signal jammer)
Batman: That should disrupt their link with Brainiac.
Superman: (Using his X-Ray vision to see the effects) Firestorm's brain patterns are changing, but I can tell what's happening with Swamp Thing.
Lex Luthor: (Rushing to Firestorm) Jason? Professor Stein?
Firestorm: (Groggily as he rises) We're both here. What happened?
Cynder: Looks like Brainiac put a third mind in your head.
Firestorm: Yeah, like we needed that.
(At this point, Swamp Thing sits up almost instanenously, incredibly confused as to where he is)
Swamp Thing: What is this place?!
Spyro: Brainiac's ship. (To Firestorm) Firestorm, think you can get Swamp Thing back down to terra firma?
Firestorm: Gladly.
Cynder: Once you get him back, find Hal. He's going to need a bit of help against the suicide Betas.
Swamp Thing: You may consider me your ally in this fight as well.
Spyro: I admire the confidence, Swampy. But you need to heal.
Swamp Thing: As long as I am connected to the Green, I can heal.
Spyro: I see there's no deterring you. (To Firestorm) Guess you're taking Swamp Thing into battle with you.
Firestorm: Will do. Good luck you guys.
(With that, our heroic quintet leaves Firestorm and Swamp Thing to their devices, ending our tale for today)
And that looks like a good place to wrap up for now. Next time will be the end of Chapter 11, and then we get into the endings. So, it looks like Spyro and Superman are alright and still in fighting shape! That's an at least. But there's no time for tear-filled reunions yet, we've only got minutes to stop Brainiac's scorched earth assault. So, will our heroes be able to stop him in time? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
