Welcome back to Injustice Dragons Among Us 2. Last time, the assault on the Skull Ship began with the discovery of Brainiac's collection and the capture of, well everyone. But after Supergirl was sent off to somewhere by Brainiac, Spyro and Superman re-emerged to save their comrades. And now Superman, Batman, Lex Luthor, Spyro, and Cynder are fighting their way through the Skull Ship looking for Supergirl and Brainiac, defeating a mind controlled Firestorm and Swamp Thing along the way. So, what awaits as the mission continues? Read on to discover...
(Our story resumes with our quintet of heroes arriving in the first room we ever encountered Brainiac in)
Spyro: Looks like we've made it back to the control room, but no sign of Brainiac.
Superman: Let me take a look around. (Scans the room with his x-ray vision) Darn it, the walls are lined with lead.
(As the group is about to debate what to do next, a blinding magical light permeates the room, and once it fades, we see Doctor Fate has emerged)
Cynder: Doctor Fate?
Doctor Fate: Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor of Earth, Kal-El of Krypton, Spyro and Cynder of worlds unknown. Your battles echo across your universes. This war has had consequences no party could have foreseen.
Spyro: I don't like where this is going.
Doctor Fate: The Chaos you have spread is a cancer upon the universe. Only Brainiac can restore Order now.
(As Doctor Fate hovers above them, Spyro and Superman step forward)
Superman: Leave this to us.
Batman: (Grabbing Superman's shoulder) You hate magic.
Spyro: (Letting Aether flow through him) He's got me, Bruce.
Cynder: Then the rest of us will check for Brainiac and Kara.
(With that, Batman, Lex Luthor, and Cynder leave Superman and Spyro to their battle with Doctor Fate)
Superman: I've always respected you, Fate. But I can't let Brainiac destroy my home, not this time.
Doctor Fate: Your misdeeds are what precipitated Brainiac's arrival on this planet. His curiosity was piqued when you decimated the Green Lantern Corps. And now he comes to spare humanity, from the chaos you have unleashed.
Spyro: If killing people to absorb their knowledge is sparing them, I'll gladly stand against that.
(And now the battle begins. Superman is indeed weak to Doctor Fate's magic, but with a little help from Spyro, the two get the better of Nabu, knocking the helm off of Kent Nelson.)
Superman: Destiny is ours to carve, Fate.
(As Kent Nelson hits the floor, Cynder swoops in and grabs the Helm of Fate before it can worm it's way back to Kent Nelson somehow. Knowing Nabu could take over literally any of them if he wanted to, Cynder turns to Batman, signaling him of what they intend to do. Batman nods understanding, takes the Helm from Cynder and turns to Superman with it)
Batman: You know what we need to do.
Superman: I can't destroy the Helm, Bruce. The magic behind it is too strong.
Spyro: Perhaps I can then.
(Realizing this has a good chance of working, Batman hands the Helm to Spyro. Spyro looks the Helm in the eye sockets, as if to stare Nabu dead in the eyes)
Spyro: I'm sorry about this.
(With his apology given, Spyro places the Helm of Fate in front of his horns, infuses Aether into them, and then rams into the wall, flattening the Helm with a miniature explosion of magic that throws Spyro back)
Kent Nelson: (Realizing what's happening) The Lords of Order, their voices are gone...
Lex Luthor: It's over, Kent.
Kent Nelson: I'm sorry about this attack. The Helm commanded me, and...
Cynder: We know, Kent. Now, they can't command you anymore.
Kent Nelson: (Seeing the entire quintet together) The five of you have defied fate. Courted more chaos than any others have. But now, to see you all working together... You must keep Order, or else the Lords will impose it through Brainiac, or some other...
(But before he can finish, one of Brainiac's tendrils stabs Kent Nelson through the chest, and with one final cry of pain he is pulled through the wall of the Skull Ship, presumably to his death)
Spyro: Kent!
(As Kent Nelson disappears forever, Brainiac appears behind everyone, garnering their attention)
Brainiac: Even a magical being like Doctor Fate recognizes my superiority. Given enough time the entire universe will adhere to my design.
Cynder: Not if we stop you. Here and now.
Brainiac: All I offer is deliverance. Your environment is poisoned, your civilization has exhausted its resources. The decline of Earth cannot be reversed.
Superman: We'll find a way.
Batman: We always do.
(And now, the battle begins. Five on one against Brainiac, and for a good while Brainiac is winning, even managing to throw Batman halfway across the room, but all this does is get Superman even angrier, knocking Brainiac to the floor with Spyro and Cynder backing him up.)
Brainiac: Earth's time is up.
Superman: Where's Kara?
Brainiac: By now, being vivisected. Observations of her have taught me much about the nature of your powers.
Superman: Then allow me to give you a proper demonstration.
Brainiac: You are a single Kryptonian. I match your strength, but you cannot match my intellect. I have slaughtered billions of your species!
(As Brainiac nears Superman, Spyro and Cynder step up, joined shortly by Batman and Lex Luthor)
Spyro: But you've never seen anything like us.
Cynder: Everybody, together!
(Now the entire group pulls together and with a coordinated effort unlike any they've previously mustered, our heroic quintet has Brainiac bested in mere moments)
Superman: That was for Krypton.
Lex Luthor: Am I the only one who thought that was too easy?
Superman: The attacks on his fleet are weakening him. I could feel it while I was fighting him.
Batman: (Pulling out the signal jammer) Should make it easier to cut him off from the Betas.
(With that, Batman hits Brainiac with the signal jammer, single handedly taking down everything connected to his neural network, evidenced by his drones falling inactive all over the world, much to the relief of the heroes fighting them)
Batman: This is Batman, Brainiac is down.
Superman: Now all we've got to do is find Kara.
(But just as Superman says this, Supergirl enters the room, a little groggy, but okay)
Lex Luthor: Looks like she found us.
Superman: (Rushing to his cousin) Kara! Are you okay?
Supergirl: Whatever you did worked. Stopped one of Brainiac's drones from cutting my face off. Otherwise a bit groggy, but I'll be fine.
(As the entire strike team reunites, the entire ship starts shift in its orbit)
Spyro: What's happening?!
Batman: (Realizing what's happening) Brainiac's mind was the ship's CPU. And he doesn't have a backup system.
(And now we see the dreadful effect of stopping Brainiac's plans, the Skull Ship is falling out of orbit and about to crash into the Earth)
Superman: If we crash, the cities preserved onboard...
Lex Luthor: If I had to guess, they'll be destroyed.
(Not wanting this to happen, Superman rushes over to Brainiac's chair and starts to plug himself in)
Batman: Clark, wait!
Superman: You said yourself, this ship is powered by pure thought.
Lex Luthor: This could kill you!
Superman: If it does, let this bring honor back to the House of El.
(With that, Superman plugs two tendrils into the sides of his head, but the power surge is too much and sends him flying from the chair)
Supergirl: Kal!
Superman: (Getting up) It's no use. I'm not strong enough...
Spyro: Maybe I can do this.
Cynder: Spyro, are you crazy?!
Spyro: We have to try.
(With that, Spyro takes Superman's place and plugs the tendrils into his head. The pain is excruciating, but Spyro channels Aether through him to withstand it. For a moment all seems lost as the room turns nearly completely vertical. But just as the ship is about to crash into a major city, the ship starts to fly again, as Spyro takes control of the ship)
Spyro: Got it!
Batman: Put the thing on autopilot!
Spyro: (Amidst grunts of exertion) Trying to!
(At this point, Brainiac gets back up and realizes what's happening)
Brainiac: My ship! You will not destroy my collection!
(Now Brainiac starts tearing through everyone and has Batman and Lex Luther down in minutes, while Cynder sneaks Supergirl into the shadows. Thinking he's beat everyone, Brainiac turns to Spyro)
Brainiac: Relinquish my ship, dragon!
(Seeing her opportunity, Cynder sneaks out of the shadows, allowing Supergirl to unleash a massive stream of heat vision at him while she sneaks back into the shadows)
Brainiac: You will regret that.
(Before Brainiac can attack Supergirl, Cynder leaps from the shadows and throws Brainiac around a bit before getting thrown off his back)
Brainiac: Your theatrics will not be able to save you!
(Now Cynder takes on Brainiac, alone. And without the might of his ship backing him up, she manages to beat him handily)
Cynder: Then consider me persistent.
(With Brainiac defeated, the group turns to Spyro, who clearly is struggling to handle the exertion)
Cynder: We need to get you out of there!
Spyro: Not... yet... the cities...
(And just like that, Spyro pours all of his focus into the ship, forcing it to restore the missing cities. And as he does, it appears the rest of the forces arrive, having seen the Skull Ship start hovering without attacking. Once he finishes though, he collapses from the chair.)
Cynder: Spyro!
Spyro: (As Cynder helps him up) I'm okay. A little weak, but I'm okay.
Aquaman: (As he arrives) I never thought it possible, but I can hear the heartbeat of Atlantis again! Brainiac's work is undone!
Batman: Not all the way. It looks like some cities got deleted from the ship's memory. Coast City is the only one I can confirm missing.
Green Lantern: There's still a way to save them, right?
Lex Luthor: It's going to take some time.
Wonder Woman: First Krypton, now Earth. No world should ever have to suffer this again.
Superman: (Staring at Brainiac) You're right.
(Superman starts towards Brainiac, with full intent to kill him, but Batman and Lex Luthor stop him)
Lex Luthor: Clark, no!
Batman: Even if we all agreed to kill him, we need Brainiac alive to restore the rest of the cities.
Superman: Cyborg was able to hack this ship before. Given enough time, this ship will do my bidding eventually.
Lex Luthor: Or we'll lose more cities. Bruce is right, we can't take that risk.
Robin: Brainiac is a risk to the entire planet!
Wonder Woman: This is just like with Joker. If we kill him now...
Flash: This is nothing like Joker, Diana!
Superman: How many people need to suffer before you realize that some lives need to be taken, Bruce?!
(At this point, we see Batman is digging for something from his utility belt and eventually pulls out a golden dagger, slashing Superman across the chest with it, leaving a permanent mark)
Superman: How did you?!

Cynder: So that's what you two were talking about!
Lex Luthor: (Pointing his gauntlets at Batman and Superman) Now, there's got to be a better solution than another war between you two.
Spyro's Log
The Skull Ship took a lot out of me, but I'm recovering quicker than expected. But despite that, I've heard it all. Batman has a point, recovering the cities will be easier with Brainiac alive. But so does Superman, Cyborg has developed equipment to hack Brainiac's tech before. Looking at Cynder, I can tell we both have the same question:
Who do we side with?
(And in this moment we see the showdown: Batman on the left, Lex Luthor in the center, Superman on the right. As our duo faces down the decision, our tale ends for today)
