A/N: I don't own Power Rangers, they are owned by Saban. I joined a writers group that meets a few times a week, and it is helping immensely. Hopefully this means updates will come more frequently. Of course, work may change that. Enjoy :)

Date: August 18, 2003

Tommy and Aisha entered the Youth Center, and they saw Kimberly sitting at a table with Trini. Kimberly looked anxious, and Trini looked concerned.

Tommy asked, "What's going on?"

Trini said, "Kimberly's parents are going to court tomorrow to discuss the new custody arrangement."

Kimberly nodded, and she said, "A lot is riding on this. If I go to France, it will be impossible to be a Power Ranger. It will be impossible for me to be with any of you."

Tommy said, "If the judge listens to your dad's side, I am sure he will let your dad have full custody."

Kimberly just sighed, and she said, "I love my mom, and… I hate her right now. She's going to tear me away from everything I've known, and I might go somewhere that I will end up hating."

Trini saw Kimberly's eyes get wet, and Trini said, "Come on, let's go play basketball. Tommy, Aisha, will you two join us?"

Tommy said, "Of course!"

Aisha said, "Yeah, let's go!"

The four Rangers played basketball for a few hours. Kimberly didn't play well though, her mind kept going over the court hearing tomorrow. She left and went home for the rest of the day. She tried to read, but she couldn't focus. Instead, she settled on watching TV for a short time.

Kimberly groaned, "Why can't the court meeting come faster?"

Kimberly went to her room, and she called Trini.

Trini asked, "Hey, how are you feeling?"

Kimberly said, "My stomach has been churning and I can't stay still. I just keep thinking about this court date."

Trini said, "It's really eating at you, isn't it?"

Kimberly said, "It really is."

Trini said, "We can go to the park tomorrow and come up with solutions in the event your mom keeps custody of you."

Kimberly said, "I would like that. Thank you."

Trini yawned, and she said, "It's getting late, so I am going to head to bed. Try to get some sleep."

Kimberly said, "I will."

Kimberly went to sleep, or at least she tried to. She ended up with a terrible nightmare. It started with Kimberly sitting in the courtroom. She looked up at the judge, and she saw that Rita Repulsa was the judge!

The judge laughed and said, "I grant your mother full custody of you! You will now be in France forever!"

Kimberly yelled, "No!"

Kimberly saw her Pink Ranger form show up in front of her. The Pink Ranger form turned around and said, "How could you abandon me?"

The other Rangers showed up to flank the Pink Ranger form. All the Rangers were morphed, and they seemed furious.

The Rangers all yelled, "You abandoned us!"

Kimberly yelled, "I didn't abandon you!"

Jean walked up and said, "You are mine now!"

Kimberly turned around, and she saw Jean was actually a strange mole monster! Kimberly screamed, and she turned back to the Rangers. The Rangers all waved goodbye, and they vanished. Kimberly let out one more scream before she woke up from her nightmare.

The next day, Kimberly and Trini were walking in the park. Trini glanced over at her friend, and she noticed how troubled Kimberly was.

Kimberly said, "The court hearing won't start until later today. I'm worried. And don't say that it will turn out okay. You don't know that."

Trini said, "We're here for you."

Suddenly, Tenga Warriors appeared in the park!

Kimberly said, "Good! I was hoping to hit something!"

Kimberly ran towards one of the Tenga Warriors, and she jumped into the air. She drove her feet into it, and she turned to another Tenga Warrior. She glanced over at Trini, and she saw Trini calling the other Rangers to them. One of the Tenga Warriors jumped in front of Kimberly, and it waved its wings in the air.

Kimberly said, "Today is the worst day you could have picked to attack me!"

Kimberly and Trini started fighting the Tenga Warriors. The other Rangers quickly jumped in as well, and they started fighting against the Tenga Warriors. Kimberly put every ounce of her energy into punching and kicking the Tenga Warriors. As she fought, she felt more and more of her stress, anxiety, and rage build up.

Trini yelled, "Kimberly, watch out!"

Kimberly glanced over at Trini, and she saw a Tenga Warrior flying toward her! Kimberly tried to duck, but the Tenga Warrior grabbed her.

Kimberly yelled, "Let me go right now!"

The Tenga Warrior pinned Kimberly to a tree, and her communicator fell off. She tried to punch the Tenga Warrior, but it trapped her. She looked around, and she saw the other Rangers fighting against the unending waves of Tenga Warriors.

Adam yelled, "How many of them are there!?"

Rocky yelled, "I don't know, but we gotta kill them all!"

During the chaos, no one noticed Rito Revolto and Finster showing up on the battlefield. Finster pointed a device at Kimberly, and he was pleased to have captured something. Rito Revolto and Finster quickly disappeared, taking the Tenga Warriors with them. Kimberly jumped down from the tree, and she walked over to the other Rangers.

Tommy asked, "Are you okay?"

Kimberly said, "I'm actually a little better. Who knew that punching Tenga Warriors in the face would be a good stress release?"

Trini said, "We should spar then!"

Kimberly said, "That's a good idea! But first we need to find out what made the Tenga Warrior attack us, and why they left so abruptly."

Tommy said, "Good idea."

Tommy's communicator beeped, and he answered it.

Tommy asked, "Zordon, what's going on?"

Zordon said, "Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd have created a new monster named Artistmole. It's attacking Angel Grove by draining the colors and vital energy of the city."

Tommy said, "We're on our way. Does this have anything to do with the Tenga Warriors' surprise attack?"

Zordon said, "We do not know at the moment, but it is possible."

Tommy asked, "Where was the monster last seen?"

Zordon said, "It was last seen at the art museum"

Tommy said, "Thanks, we will head there now." He turned to Kimberly, and he asked, "Are you okay?"

Kimberly said, "My parents are about to go to war in court today. My anxiety is through the roof. I am so stressed that I want to scream. What I need right now is to punch more Tenga Warriors. So answering your question, I'm just… okay."

The Rangers teleported away to the museum, and the first thing they saw was a chaotic scene. Something has evidently trashed the art exhibits, and multiple paintings have lost their color. In fact, all of them lost their color. All but one painting, which was missing.

Kimberly pointed at the spot where the missing painting used to be, and she said, "I have a feeling that the monster has something to do with the painting's disappearance."

Kimberly suddenly realized that something was off about her wrist. She looked at it, and she realized she had dropped her communicator!

Kimberly said, "I lost my communicator in the park!"

Katherine said, "I can help you search, Kimberly."

Kimberly and Katherine made their way to the park. Katherine's communicator beeped shortly after they arrived.

Katherine asked, "What is it, Zordon?"

Zordon said, "The monster has appeared in the museum. The Rangers and Ninjor are attacking it, but they aren't able to do any damage."

Katherine asked, "What!? Why not!?"

Zordon said, "Alpha is working on figuring that out. Teleport to the Command Center."

Katherine said, "Give us a minute. Kimberly is searching for her communicator."

Kimberly yelled, "Found it!"

Katherine said, "Okay, we are heading there now."

Kimberly and Katherine teleported to the Command Center. When they arrived, they saw Alpha 5 frantically pressing buttons on the console.

Alpha 5 cried, "Ay ay ay! I can't find out anything about the monster!"

Katherine asked, "Zordon, what's happening with the Rangers?"

Zordon said, "Artistmole is absorbing the colors and vital energy from the Rangers and Ninjor. You can view it on the Viewing Globe."

Kimberly and Katherine turned to the Viewing Globe, and they saw Artistmole sucking in the colors and vital energy from the Rangers and Ninjor.

Kimberly cried, "Oh no! Not that thing!"

Kimberly suddenly felt cold. She shivered, and her heart raced. She felt her breathing get faster and faster. She put her hand on her chest, and she sat down on the floor.

Katherine asked, "What's wrong?"

Kimberly said, "I saw that thing in my nightmare! How is it out here!?"

Zordon said, "It's likely that Rito Revolto has captured your nightmare and turned it into reality. Therefore the Rangers can't hurt it. It comes from your mind, Kimberly. You are the only one who can destroy it."

Katherine asked, "Kimberly, what happened in your nightmare?"

Kimberly explained what happened in her nightmare, and she finished the explanation with, "I worry you will all abandon me if I leave."

Katherine said, "Hey, no, we will still be your friends, even if you go to France. We won't forget you. And you don't know what the court will decide. You might end up with your dad."

Kimberly stood up, and she shifted from one foot to the other. She said, "The wait for the court is killing me."

Katherine said, "Fighting Artistmole is a good way to release that anxiety."

Zordon said, "This is an uncertain moment, and you can't do anything about it right now. The important thing is you do what is best for you."

Kimberly said, "I'm torn between my mom, my dad, and the Rangers, Zordon!"

Zordon said, "We will stay with you, no matter what happens to you."

Kimberly yelled, "I hate this stupid situation I'm in! Why did my parents need to get divorced!? Why did my Mom need to go to France!?"

Katherine said, "There you go, get angry about it!"

Kimberly yelled, "When will my mom ever consider my own needs!? Why does my mom's fiance get priority over me!?"

Katherine said, "Because your mom is so caught up with her fiance that she forgot to think about your needs!"

Kimberly said, "I'm ready to fight. First, I am going to beat the shit out of this monster. Second, I am going to tell my oblivious mother that I am not going with her! Angel Grove is my home! It's Morphin Time!"

Katherine yelled, "That's more like it!"

Kimberly and Katherine morphed, and they teleported to the art museum. They saw the Rangers lying on the ground, struggling to get up.

Tommy said, "Kimberly… help!"

Katherine said, "I will get the Rangers to safety. You kick some ass, Kimberly!"

Kimberly turned to face Artistmole, and she yelled, "I am going to show you exactly what I think of your plans to take my mom to France!"

Kimberly jumped into the air, and she kicked Artistmole. Artistmole knocked Kimberly out of the sky, and Kimberly landed on her belly.

Zack yelled, "You got this, Kimberly!"

Trini yelled, "Go get him!"

Tommy yelled, "Destroy him! You are the Pink Ranger!"

Kimberly stood up, and she took out her Power Bow. She fired a few shots at Artistmole, and Artistmole flew backward. He fell onto some rubble, and he struggled to get back up. Kimberly fired another volley of bolts at him.

Artistmole said, "You won't crush me that easily!"

Kimberly fired another volley at Artistmole. The bolts hit Artistmole square in the chest, and they sent backward Artistmole. Kimberly fired at Artistmole's palette, destroying it. She then fired at Artistmole's chest again, and all the Rangers' colors and energies returned to them.

Katherine cheered, "Yeah! Go get him!"

The Rangers cheered for Kimberly, and they stood by her side. Kimberly smiled from ear to ear, and her eyes got a little moist. This was why she wanted to stay. Her real family is here with her, and they will always be there for her. It surprised her to notice that a fiery determination has replaced her anxiety. Her mom may want to take her to France, but she won't go without a fight.

Kimberly yelled, "Time to blast him with all the colors! We need that Power Blaster!"

Jason, Zack, Trini, Billy, and Kimberly assembled the Power Blaster. Jason took up the middle, but he quickly pulled out of formation.

Kimberly asked, "What are you doing?"

Jason said, "This is your demon, and this is your fight. You get to deliver the final blow."

Kimberly happily took up the center position, and the Rangers fired at Artistmole. Artistmole screamed, and he flew into a wall. Artistmole got up again, but Kimberly and the Rangers blasted him one more time. Artistmole went up in an explosion of color, and everything in the world quickly regained its color.

Trini asked, "How are you feeling now?"

Kimberly said, "Much better. Now it's time for that custody hearing." She took a deep breath, and she said, "Time to go."

Tommy said, "We will be there for you. We will watch you while we are in our Ranger forms"

Kimberly asked, "Really? Wouldn't that break the rules?"

Tommy said, "Zordon might make an exception in this case. Let's check."

Tommy contacted Zordon, and he asked, "Zordon, we were thinking of sitting in on Kimberly's parents' custody hearing while we are in our Ranger forms. We want to do that to encourage Kimberly."

Zordon said, "I will allow it if this is what Kimberly needs."

Kimberly thought for a moment, imagining her Ranger friends there in their Ranger forms. The memory of her nightmare quickly flickered in her mind, and she remembered the Rangers leaving her in her nightmare.

Kimberly said, "I would really appreciate that! Thank you!"

Kimberly hugged the Rangers, demorphed, and went back home to prepare for the custody hearing.

A couple of hours later, Kimberly was in a conference room. Her parents, her uncle, a judge, and a mediator accompanied her. Roger looked like he was ready to punch Helen in the face. Helen looked at Roger with intense disapproval. It surprised everyone except for Kimberly to see the Rangers show up in the conference room.

The judge cried, "What are the Rangers doing here!?"

Helen said, "Oh no! This is the reason we want to leave Angel Grove! These Rangers attract monsters!"

Roger said, "Or maybe they don't. Maybe they are here defending us, just like they are here protecting us."

Tommy said, "That's right. We are here to protect you and your daughter while you have this discussion. Your daughter has helped a lot in our battles. We want to repay the favor by being here."

Kimberly smiled, and she said, "Thank you, Rangers."

The judge said, "I will allow it. First, let's hear Helen's case for taking Kimberly out of the United States."

Helen said, "Well, France has good schools and opportunities. It's also free of these giant monster attacks. I want what's best for my daughter."

Roger roared, "Your daughter!? She's my daughter too!"

Helen yelled, "If you were a better father, you wouldn't have divorced me! You know how hard it is to be a single mom of a teenager!?"

Kimberly yelled, "Enough, both of you!"

Roger and Helen both gave Kimberly a shocked look. The judge and mediator both looked pleased, and neither one objected to Kimberly's outburst.

The mediator cleared her throat, and she said, "We are here for the peaceful and calm discussion of what to do with the custody agreement. Mrs. Hart, please continue. Mr. Hart, please refrain from further interruption."

Helen said, "I am concerned about the effect these giant monster attacks are having on Kimberly's mental health! She seems more tired sometimes, and she has anxiety. She also has more nightmares!"

The mediator said, "Noted."

The judge said, "Thank you for sharing, Mrs. Hart. Mr. Hart, you may speak."

Roger said, "Kimberly has a life here. She has good friends, and her boyfriend is really supportive of her. No matter what happens, she can always count on them. And they can always count on her. Taking her away from all of that would just hurt her."

Helen snapped, "Staying here could get her killed!"

Roger yelled, "And taking her away could make her so depressed that she kills herself! Is that what you want for our daughter, for her to get suicidal!?"

The mediator yelled, "Stop it, both of you!"

The judge banged the table, and he yelled, "There will be order in the conference room!" He turned to the mediator, and he said, "Please talk to Kimberly in private… away from the parents."

The mediator took Kimberly into another room, and she said, "Please tell me your thoughts about going to France."

Kimberly said, "Honestly, I hate it. I hate that idea. I have a life here, as my dad says. I can't just leave everything I've known behind. I also know nothing about France. I don't even know French beyond hello and goodbye!"

The mediator said, "So France would be a terrible idea."

Kimberly said, "Yes, it would be."

The mediator said, "Thank you for your time. Let's go back to the conference room."

Kimberly walked back into the conference room with the mediator. She stopped in the doorway, taking in the scene before her. Trini and Aisha had to restrain Helen. The two Rangers each had a hold on Helen's arms. Jason and Rocky had done the same with Roger.

The judge said, "I'm glad you were here, Rangers. Some humans act like monsters too!"

Kimberly and the mediator took their seats. Jason, Rocky, Trini, and Aisha kept their grip on Kimberly's parents.

The judge held up a letter and said, "Kimberly's therapist has written a letter stating her observations. I will read this letter, and the parents will remain quiet."

Everyone sat in silence while the judge read the letter. The seconds seemed to stretch for an eternity while the judge read the letter. Kimberly wondered what her therapist wrote in the letter. The two had gone over the letter together when the therapist wrote it. Kimberly hoped the judge would make the right decision.

The judge said, "Okay, that letter was helpful. Considering everything I have heard, Kimberly's father will have full legal and physical custody."

Helen screeched, "What!? You're taking my daughter away from me!?"

The judge said, "No, you are removing yourself from your daughter."

Helen yelled, "France is so much better! I am doing what's best for my daughter!"

Kimberly snapped, "No you're not! You are doing what's best for you, which is to run off with your fiance to another country! I'm staying with my family, where I belong!"

Helen gasped, and she said, "But I am your family!"

Kimberly said, "No, you are not! You're running off to France." She pointed at the Rangers, and she said, "They are my family. I'm not a Ranger, but they treat me like one. They have been there for me ever since Rita Repulsa started their attacks. I'm staying in Angel Grove."

Helen screeched, "You haven't heard the last of me! After I move to France, I will fight for her!"

Kimberly said, "I will be 18 in two years, and there won't be anything you can do about me staying here."

Roger had a big smirk on his face. Helen shot Roger a look of disgust, and she left the conference room. Roger hugged Kimberly, and he said, "I'm so glad you are staying here!"

Kimberly said, "Me too!"

That night, Kimberly had a much easier time sleeping. This time, she dreamed about fighting a big monster with the other Rangers in their Megazords. At the end of her dream, her Ranger form gave her a big hug and said, "I'm glad you are staying here!"
