Conner woke up coughing. It was a strange feeling because he had never been sick before. No one was sure if it was even possible for him to get sick since he was part Kryptonian. If this was what being sick felt like though, he didn't like it.

Opening his eyes, the clone saw that he was somewhere dark and extremely dusty. That probably explained the coughing fit. He remembered how Gar once reacted to a dusty warehouse a few weeks ago. However, this didn't look like a warehouse. It didn't look like much at all actually. All he could make out was broken slabs of concrete, exposed and cracked pipes that were leaking water, and streaks of light coming from above.

It took another minute or so for Conner to remember what happened. There had been an earthquake that morning. Thankfully, it wasn't a major one, but it had caused a bunch of damage to the city and there were hundreds of people of trapped. So the Titans went straight to work, trying to keep the city's citizens calm, crime under control, and helping the police and firefighters rescue those that were trapped. It was a crazy, busy day so far. Then, he and Nightwing had entered an apartment building to free people stuck in the basement when an aftershock hit.

Conner immediately froze. Nightwing!

"Nightwing! Where are you?" The clone shouted, jumping to his feet. He almost fell back down. He didn't realize how sore he was until he stood up. Ignoring that though, he started to make his way through the wreckage, all the while calling for the older hero.

"Nightwing! Nightwing!"

A low groan caused Conner to pause. If he wasn't part alien, he wouldn't have heard it at all. But he did, and could tell which direction it was coming from. But he did, and could tell which direction it was coming from. Using his x-ray vision, he saw a familiar human figure buried about a meter away to his left. Conner rushed over and immediately working on freeing him. Seconds later, he uncovered Dick's bloodied face.

"Nightwing?" Conner whispered, bringing his hands up to cup Dick's face, gently tapping his cheeks to wake him up. "Dick? Wake up. Please, wake up."

Dick let out another low groan and started to blink. As his eyes started to focus, he mumbled, "Conner?"

"I'm here, right here. Are you okay? How are you feeling?" Conner asked as he moved to unbury the rest of Dick's body.

"Like a train ran me over. But I've been through worse. I'll be fine as soon as I get free."

"Don't worry, I'll get you out of here. You sure nothing's broken or anything?"

"Don't think so," Dick responded, though he didn't sound all that sure.

Conner paused and looked him over. Now that he had uncovered more of the acrobat, he got a better examination of him. Well, his arms and torso. He hadn't gotten to his legs yet, His suit was still in one piece, miraculously. He didn't see anymore blood either, or any marks on his bones that meant fractures or breaks. Not any new ones anyways. The old ones were still there, just like the day he first learned what those marks were.

One month ago…

Rachel looked like she wanted to take her textbook and rip it to shreds. It was Friday afternoon. Usually she, Gar, Rose/Jericho, and Conner would get the afternoon off. A break from the busy week they had just had. Even though Rose/Jericho and Conner were doing school online, they worked hard as well. However, they all had midterms coming up and Dick wanted them to study. One of the conditions of letting them go out on patrol was to keep their grades up. It was annoying, but fair.

"Is it time for a break yet?" Gar wondered, his hand absentmindedly going to his stomach. "I could use a snack right now."

"Didn't you just eat when you and Rachel got home?" Rose inquired with an irritated tone of voice.

"That was hours ago." The green-haired teenager whined.

"One hour and 15 minutes ago, actually." Conner corrected.

"Still too long ago."

Rachel sighed. "And soon, the others are going to start making dinner. If you ruin your appetite, they won't be happy with you."

"Gar and Conner ruin their appetites? That'll be the day. They have a blackholes for stomachs." Rose scoffed.

"Hey, we're growing boys," Gar protested, clearly offended.

"What's this?" Conner changed the subject as he turned Rachel's textbook around to get a look at the diagram that covered an entire page.

Seeing what he was looking at, Rachel said, "It's the human skeleton."

"Dude, you have x-ray vision. Don't you know what the human skeleton looks like?" Gar asked.

"Yeah, but I didn't see these words. Are these the names of the bones? They're weird."

"Tell me about it," Rachel muttered. "Try memorizing all of them."

"How come there's no squiggly lines?" The clone questioned, staring at the picture with a confused frown. However, his question only confused the other teenagers.

"What do you mean?" Rose asked.

"A bunch of people have weird, squiggly lines on their bones. Some more than others. Here, give me a pencil and I'll show you." Gar handed Conner his pencil and watched Conner draw on the skeleton.

"Please tell me you guys aren't writing or drawing anything gross in that textbook." Kory said as she walked into the kitchen, Dawn right behind her.

"Conner is drawing on the skeleton, because we have no clue what he's talking about," Gar filled them in.

"Here. See?" Conner said, putting down the pencil and turning the textbook around for everyone to see. "Sometimes, the lines are faded, but they're still there."

The skeleton was now covered in pencil marks. Jagged lines had been drawn in both legs, one with more than the other, in both arms, and over all of the ribs. There were even some on the fingers and skull.

"That would be fractured or broken bones, Conner," Dawn explained. "If the lines are faded, then it happened a while ago and they've healed."

"Yeesh. This person sure took a beating," Rose commented with a raised eyebrow.

"It's Dick's skeleton." That had everyone stare at the picture in shock. Before anyone could anything about it though, a new voice joined the conversation.

"It's my what-now?" Everyone's head turned to see Dick and Donna enter the kitchen with curious expressions.

Holding up the textbook to show the leader the picture, Conner said, "It's your skeleton."

Everyone watched Dick's reaction with curiousity, concern, and slight fear. Except for Conner that is. He didn't really understand what the magnitude of what he just revealed. Dick however, seemed to almost freeze for a split second, clearly taken aback. So did Donna. However, while she glanced over at him worriedly, Dick quickly gave a half-grin and let out a light chuckle. "Guess we don't need an x-ray machine with you around."

"No, I guess not," Donna agreed with a grin, going along with Dick's way of dealing with the awkward situation.

"Unless of course, Conner isn't here. Then we would need an x-ray machine," Dawn pointed out.

"You mean, Conner's drawing is accurate to what your x-rays look like?" Gar asked, shocked over the whole thing.

With a sigh, the acrobat looked over at the kids. "I've been crime fighting since I was 10. Injuries happen."

"This looks like a lot of injuries," Rose pointed out.

"A lot of years fighting criminals and psychos adds up to a fair amount of damage," Dick explained. Before anyone could say anything else, Dick looked over at Dawn and Kory. "What are we doing for supper?"

Conner was yanked out of his memory by a loud, pain-filled gasp escaping Dick's mouth. Looking down at his leader's leg that he had just uncovered. In his right thigh, just above his knee, was a broken pipe sticking out.

"Uh, we have a problem," Conner stated, wondering how he didn't see that when he used his super-powered vision.

"Yeah, I kinda figured that," Dick muttered, clenching his fists and squeezing his eyes shut. He was clearly in pain, and Conner found himself at a lost as to what to do.

He had never seen any of his teammates injured before. He did see Donna's dead body before he officially joined the team, but he didn't know her at all at that point, and she came back. This felt… different. Even though Dick, Dawn and Hank were human, they were extremely skilled fighters, especially Dick. Watching the first partner of Batman fight and fly through the air made Conner wonder if he actually did have powers that they just didn't know about. He seemed… invincible. Seeing him like this felt like someone slammed a kryptonite-laced frying pan in his face and dumped freezing cold water on him.

"So, what do I do?"

"Can you check under my leg, and see if the pipe is connected to anything? If it's not, then I'll be able to get out of here," Dick told him, sounding a little out of breath and visibly trying to relax. Conner nodded, then bent down to check.

Grimacing, the teenager turned to Dick. "The other end looks like it's stuck in another slab of concrete."

Dick scoffed. "Of course it is."

"I could break the concrete and free the pipe," Conner suggested, but Dick shook his head.

"We don't know how far the pipe goes. That would take too long, and we still have civilians to rescue."

"Dick, you're injured. Even when we get you free, you will need medical attention, not going around trying to help people."

"I meant you and the other Titans," Dick tried to clarify but it only confused Conner more.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, there are still people trapped here. I need you to find a out, find the civilians that are trapped and get them out of here."

"You mean, you want me to leave you here?" Conner couldn't believe what he was hearing. Scratch that, he could believe it. He may not have known Dick for very long, but he knew that he didn't seem to care all that much about his own well-being. The half-alien just didn't think he'd actually hear something like this.

"Getting me free from the pipe isn't going to do much if we're still stuck in there," Dick pointed out. When the concerned and confused expression remained on Conner's face, he sighed and added, "Until we have an escape route, me trying to move is just going to do more harm than good. The best thing to do, is stabilize my injury, and find a way out of here. And if you hear anyone else stuck, work on getting them free."

"Will you be okay until then?"

"I'll be fine. Don't worry about me." Conner was still very worried, but nodded and followed Dick's instructions.

After tying his belt tightly around Dick's leg an inch about the pipe, Conner started looking for a way out. He did his best to stay in the same area as Dick so he could keep an eye on the fellow hero, but it was getting difficult. With his hearing and x-ray vision, he was able to pinpoint the quickest way to freedom, but getting there was going to be tricky. Because they were in a basement, he needed to find a way to climb up as the stairs were destroyed and the opening he had been able to make was too small for him to jump through, especially if he was carrying Dick and any others. He wished he had Krypto with him. The dog was a lot smaller. Wait, that's it!

"Krypto! Krypto!" Conner started calling out as loud as he could.

"What are you doing?" Dick asked, opening his eyes and looking over at the clone.

"I'm trying to get Krypto over here so he can help me get you out. He's smaller, so it will be easier to slide you through the opening."

A thoughtful expression covered Dick's face for a moment, then he nodded and closed his eyes. He looked exhausted. Conner was beginning to wonder if he had a concussion along with the pipe sticking out of his leg. He didn't exactly know what a concussion was but he knew it could be dangerous. And Dick really didn't look that good. He was really pale and his breathing sounded weak.

Suddenly, Conner heard a dog barking. Turning back around to the hole he had managed to create, he shouted, "Over here!"

Withing five second's, Krypto's face appeared, peering into the basement. Conner beamed at the sight of his friend. "Hey boy!"

"Superboy?" Donna said, her face pushing Krypto's out of the way so she could see. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay but Dick's hurt." Immediately the Amazonian's face filled with worry.

"How bad?"

"His leg got impaled on a pipe, and I think he has a concussion."

Still looking worried, Donna nodded and said, "Okay, just hang on. We'll get you guys out as soon as possible."

Conner nodded in return, then rushed back over to Dick. His eyes were still closed and he didn't open them until Conner shook his shoulder. Then, he groaned and slowly looked up at him.

"Wh's go'g on?" Dick slurred, clearly struggling to focus.

"Donna and Krypto are here. They're going to get us out."

"Wha' 'bout others? Civilians?"

Even though he was injured and barely awake, he was still focused on others. It was starting to get a little irritating. Doing his best to hide that, Conner said, "Don't worry. I'll get them as soon as we get you out of here. I promise."

Instead of arguing, Dick simply nodded. That was nice. He didn't want to have to fight him over this, but it was still difficult to realize that the people you looked up to weren't invincible, even if they seemed to think so.

AN – Ending it here because the next chapter, which is the last chapter, will take place right after this. Hope you guys liked it! See you all next time!
