Nya sighed as she walked out onto the plateau top that made up the roof of the autobot base. She quickly found who she was looking for. Arcee was sitting on the edge of the cliff. Her legs curled up, with her arms wrapping around her knees. Nya shook her head and began to approach the femme.

Arcee heard her small footsteps, "Come to pick a fight? He deserved to hear it."

Nya, assumed that Arcee was referring to argument that had happened between the fame and her partner earlier that day. Life had been slightly tense for everyone at the autobot base while everyone adjusted to the two newest members of the group. Nya knew that with Starscream's history, that it would most likely not be the smoothest transition. Though, in the past few weeks everyone had gotten into a somewhat non-hostile routine, except the autobot femme. Today's argument was just the latest in series of disagreements. It had been small and didn't get physical, but even so the Air Major was grateful that both Optimus and Ratchet were out investigating an energy anomaly at the time.

Now, Nya wasn't entirely mad at Arcee for having her difficulties. She was well aware of the history the femme and Starscream shared. The loss of a partner was a pain that she was familiar with. But even so, Arcee's hostility wasn't making this easier for anyone. Starscream was still having trouble sleeping; nightmares were a real pain the neck. They also seemed to be a lot more frequent recently, and while Nya had figured out how to help the Seeker through his panic, it was still screwing with her own sleep schedule. Like the soldier she was, Nya had learned to pick up on things, and while the Seeker would constantly deny it, Starscream's nightmares would usually pick up if he was constantly under stress. And an angry warrior robot chick, isn't doing anyone any favors.

"No, I just wanted to talk," Nya said.

"Did Starscream send you?" Arcee said.

"No, I came here by my choice."

"I'm not saying sorry."

"You don't have to, and I know he's not holding it against you. Though, I do think that bringing up possibly late family, was a low blow."

"Starscream doesn't have family."

Nya raised a brow, "I wouldn't say that, from what he described them to me it sounded like a strong sibling hood."

Arcee, rolled her optics, "Why are you out here?"

"I came to ask you if you could lay off Scream a bit," Nya said.

Arcee looked like she was about to retort. But Nya stopped her.

"Look, you don't have to be friends, or even like him in general. But please! For his sanity and my sleep patterns, don't make him feel like you're going to pull your blaster on him when the two of you are in the same room."

"You may be Optimus's new Air Commander, but I don't take orders from you. So, don't even try to pull rank."

"I'm not trying to pull rank. I'm just asking as someone worried for her partner. I'm not the type of person who pulls power, unless it's necessary, and I know you wouldn't. We're not all that different Arcee."

Arcee raised, an optic ridge, as Nya joined her on the cliff edge.

"I'm serious," Nya continued.

"Really, just how are an alien robot motorcycle, and a human woman alike?" Arcee asked.

"Well, we're both warriors, we'd do anything for those we care about, and we both lost someone."

Arcee's servos clenched, "I don't know if anyone told you this, but the lost of a partner isn't the same as losing a parent. So, don't even try and compare Cliff to your father."

Nya's face remained unamused, "You're right, it isn't the same. But I wasn't talking about my father."

"Then who were you referring to?"

Nya, looked straight into Arcee's optics, her face completely blank, "My fiancé."

Arcee felt her anger slowly melt away. She had heard of that earth term before, from one of the cheesy romance movies she had watched with June. It was what humans called each other when they decided to become their version of conjuxed, but hadn't gone through the actual bonding ceremony yet. The femme couldn't help but feel a little bit sorry for the human pilot.

"I don't know how…intimate…you and Cliffjumper were. But don't say that I don't know that kind of loss," Nya said.

"I'm sorry," Arcee said.

"It's okay, you didn't know."

"How did it happen?"

"He was a pilot like me, and he went doing what he loved. He fell in the line of duty."

"What was his name?"

"Raymon. Raymon West."

"Did someone kill him?"

"Yeah."

"Then you can understand why its hard for me to be nice for me to nice to Starscream. Wouldn't you want to get your hands on whoever Fragger shot him down?"

"I could see how hard it would be for you, even if I hadn't lost him. But I can't get revenge for Ray. He was my co-pilot the day I crashed," Nya chuckled bitterly, "I'm the one that killed him," her voice cracked.

Arcee looked away, but after a pause she said, "I could have gone with Cliff on that patrol the day he…but I didn't. He said he'd be fine. I could've protected him if I had gone, but…"

"Well, that's one way it could have gone, but you're just speculating. If you'd had gone then both of you could've died."

They sat here in a somewhat comfortable silence, for a moment.

"So, what was Cliffjumper like?" Nya asked.

Arcee, raised an optic ridge.

"I'm serious," Nya said.

"Well, Cliff…He was a chatterbox. He always had something to say, whether or not it was always the right thing to say remains undecided," Arcee said.

"Let me guess, his mouth got you in trouble once or twice."

"Yeah, but his mouth did save us a few times."

"Not surprised, those with big mouths tend to do that."

"Personal experience?" Arcee smirked.

"Scream's got a pretty big one of his own, and I worked with quite a few of them in flite school. Not that I minded them, but after a while," Nya sighed, "Listening to every single air traffic protocol over and over again is demanding a lot of a person."

Arcee chuckled.

"How did ya'll meet?" Nya asked.

"I had heard some chatter about something big happening on Cybertron, and Cliff had about heard it too. We both ended up getting captured by the Decepticons."

"Let me guess, you guys shared a cell?"

"Yeah."

"Well…I won't think about that too much," Nya chuckled.

"Why?" Arcee asked.

Nya's eyes when wide, and her skin when red. She quickly looked away, "Uh…Never mind."

Arcee, while still a puzzled didn't push further seeing the discomfort on the pilot's face, "What was your fiancé like?"

"Ray? You want to know about him?"

"Yeah, I guess I'm curious."

"Well, you did just tell me about your dead boyfriend, I might as well return the favor."

Arcee raised an optic ridge, but didn't say anything.

Nya took a deep breath, "Oh, Ray. Where do I start?" she sighed, "He was awful."

Arcee snickered, that wasn't the answer she thought she would get.

"I'm not kidding," Nya groaned, "We first met back in flite school, and he sucked. I mean for a pilot his skills weren't bad, but he sucked. Ray was the picture-perfect spoiled frat boy, right down to the looks. Crooked smile, dark brown eyes, and the brightest red hair I'd ever seen.

"We were complete opposites. He was from an extremely rich military family that had a lot of influence, so it was easy for him to get into any flite school he wanted. While, me being the daughter of a single dad, had worked hard to get where I was at the time."

"You two clashed?"

"You have no idea. I couldn't stand his guts in flite school. He thought he was the best person there by default. And I won't lie he had talent; he just didn't have the work ethic. He would get on my nerves so much, and I know I would get on his. Because what few girls who were in flite school with us did kind of swoon over him."

"You didn't?"

"God, no. Like I said I hated his guts, and I was there to learn. I worked my butt off and it paid, I was one of the top markers in our class, so he always came to me for help if he didn't understand something."

"Did you help him?"

"Once, after that, it was always a firm no. The reason why was because he tried to charm me into doing his work for him. I left him in the dust.

"After flite school we split up for a few years, I worked hard and climbed the ranks. I have no idea what he was doing, but eventually we were both assigned to the same air team. Him as a pilot, and me as his commanding officer."

Arcee chuckled, "That must have felt good."

"Oh, you should have seen his face! It was priceless! He even tried to get transferred, because he didn't want serve under me. Claiming that I was the reason that he graduated flite school late."

"So, if you hated him, and he hated you, how on earth did you two get together?"

"Two words; food poisoning."

Arcee raised an optic ridge.

"The mess hall on the base we were serving at was not very sanitary, that's why most of us got our food from the nearby town. But someone decided it would be a great idea to eat the pork surprise, that was being served."

Arcee cringed, not liking where this was going.

"I had never seen a human throw up so much before. Our medic said that he would be fine, but someone would need to keep an eye on him. I said I would while the others got some much better dinner, as long as they brought something back for me."

"Was he alright?"

"He got better, but he thought for sure he was going to die. He was even trying get me to help him write his will. Which I was trying to not laugh through doing."

Arcee chuckled at that, "So, what happened?"

"Well, while I tried not to let him die, we talked, got to know each other a bit better. The next week he asked me out, and the rest is history."

A comfortable silence settled on to the two of them.

"So, back to the reason, why I came out here. Can you please try not to make feel like he's walking on eggshells around you?"

Arcee sighed.

"Look, I'm not asking you to do it for him, I'm asking you to do it for a friend's sleep pattern."

Arcee grumbled, "No, promises. But I'll try."

"That's all I can ask for."

"So, we're friends now?"

"Yes, we're friends! We'll start a girl group with June and every Wednesday we'll meet for tea and cookies!" Nya joked.

A/N:

I know that this is something that doesn't have that much Starscream in it, but this idea popped into my head and I couldn't stop myself. I hope they you enjoyed a little bit of an insight into Nya's past, and the girls having a little chat.

I was honestly going back and forth on whether or not to post this. SO, let me know if you want to see more of this type of thing or not.
