Starscream traced the newly branded autobot symbol on his chest plate, and sighed. He still couldn't believe this was happening. Sure, it had been nearly over a week since he and Nya had accepted Prime's offer to join the autobots, but he still had moments where he thought he was going to wake up still in that barn with her. Or worse in the woods, where he had collapsed form energon depletion and only dreamed up the human femme out of his starvation.

A subtle tapping on his quarters' door drew his attention. Knocking was a human communication tactic, and the autobots were quite fond of this greeting ritual. Not that Starscream minded, it was quite nice to have some warning before someone entered the room you were in. Though judging by the lightness of the knocks, it clearly wasn't an autobot at his door. It must have been a human.

Grumbling, (not wanting to deal with any of the human youth at the moment, but also not wanting to get in trouble) he got up from his berth and opened the door. He didn't expect, who was at the door.

"Hey partner," Nya said, leaning on her crutch.

"Nya?" he said surprised.

Nya had been staying with the autobots' human medic, Nurse Darby, ever since she was discharged from the hospital. Of course, she was still recovering, so Nurse Darby didn't want her to move in until she was adjusted to her meds or could at least walk without assistance. Frankly, Starscream agreed with the human medic, if there was anything he had learned in the past month it was that humans were fragile and healed slowly. So, why was Nya here at the base and not recovering? The cast was still on her leg, and her arm was still tied up in the sling. The only thing that wasn't necessary anymore was the patch that had previously been on her face, that was now replaced with a shiny organic scab that would soon form a scar.

"Yep, that's me. You going to let me in?" Nya said with a smile.

Starscream stuttered for a moment, "Of course." he moved out of the way, afraid to touch her.

"Such a gentlemen," she murmured, "could you get the wagon for me, it was kind of hard to drag it all the way over here with only one working hand," she gestured over to a small cart next to her, filled with small (for him) metal canisters.

Starscream raised an optic ridge, but he listened to her none the less. For all he knew the canisters were her medication. He had never seen human meds.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"Well, I got nothing better to do today. And I thought you might like a visit," she answered, "Besides I thought maybe we could compare, sigils," she turned her uninjured arm towards him, showing the autobot symbol stitched into her pilot jacket's sleeve, and smiled.

He wanted to chuckle, but wasn't sure if it would be appropriate, "Uhm, shouldn't you be resting?"

"I have been doing that all week, and I need do something else otherwise I'm going to lose my mind. Besides a little bit of movement, hasn't hurt anyone, and I don't plan on doing anything to over work it."

"Does Optimus know of this visit?"

"Uh, Prime's not at the base right now, but Ratchet is and he bridged me here. So, Docbot will probably let Bossbot know."

She didn't even get permission to see him. How was she so calm!? Starscream knew that Prime was much laxer with his soldiers, allowing human children on base, personal quarters, and free time. But at the moment he still didn't know the limitations of those freedoms, and he didn't want push his boundaries being the newest member. Yet, Nya was completely comfortable with roaming around.

He sighed, and eyed the wagon, perhaps a change in subjects was in order, "So what is the cargo?"

"Paint," Nya said.

"Paint," he raised an optic ridge.

"Yep, we're going to paint your room."

His wings flared with shock, "What?!"

"Well, I heard you complain that your claustrophobe acts up in here. So, we're going to paint the walls to make the room feel bigger."

"Did Optimus authorize this?"

"Why would he need too?" Nya looked confused.

"Uhm…"

"This is your private space 'Scream, you can do what you want with it. If Optimus monitors y'all's rooms, which I doubt he does, that's a major breech of trust. Now if he had certain regulations on somethings, like noise, I could understand that. But with Miko's playing and y'all sleep schedule, I doubt he cares. Besides if he does ask, I'll take the shot, don't worry."

"Alright, if you're certain," He eyed her worryingly, not sure if the 'take the shot' part was literal or not. Hopefully not.

At the end of that day, there was portrait of the vosian skyline, and smaller painting of an earthling sunset on his walls. And Starscream began to feel a little more at home.

A/N:

Well, I wrote this. It's cute, I think. This obviously takes place after the main story, but before a lot of the other one-shots. And I just needed something, to take my mind off of the next beast wars update, which is killing me!

Birthday passed last month, I am officially older, but I'm still writing this sh*t so defiantly not wiser.

Read, review, see y'all next time.
