Act 3 Issue 13: Chrono Clash (Part 3) – Among the Darkness
Chronopolis
BGM-Chaos Legion OST-Welcome to the Darkness
Chaos. Mayhem. Total disaster. So many terms that could describe this death match of the millennia against the Demon of Time, Mephiles the Dark. So many explosions bursting at the seams, erupting endlessly from the extraordinary intense, light-speed race duel through the city between Mephiles in his Devil Form and Modern Sonic the Hedgehog in his Evolved Lightning Mode. From quick punches, to swift kicks, to spin attacks that rapidly clash at speeds so fast one would think they are teleporting.
Out of nowhere, a vicious attack from Devil Mephiles sends Sonic flying over the streets and at the mercy of another brutal blow if Modern Shadow in his Chaos Boost state didn't warp in to block the strike, swiftly followed by Silver appearing to blast the demon high to the sky. All three heroic hedgehogs jump pursuing their mutual foe, launching simultaneous attacks that are effortlessly repelled by Mephiles' barrier, before the Hedgehogs and Demon duke it out in a high-speed clash that shake the skies, ending with the Demon kicking each of them down one by one, with Sonic being the last to fall. Recovering quickly in midair, Silver catches his blue friend with his psychokinesis, so Shadow could kick his spinballing rival right back at Mephiles' face with the brutal force to knock him off the air. But just like them, Mephiles quickly recovered seconds before crashing onto the streets and flies off, with his hedgehog rivals in hot pursuit.
"How persistent you fools are, wishing to go against me." Mephiles starts mocking them, "Iblis and I have run out of patience. After I kill you, we will reunite into the ultimate terror and control the world! Well then, let yourselves be swallowed up by darkness!"
"I won't let you! Mephiles, WE WILL BEAT YOU FOR SURE!" Sonic furiously declared.
Merely scoffing at his foolish declaration, Mephiles powers up before speeding off, with the hedgehogs following suit. As soon as he saw them catching up, Mephiles psychically lift several debris into the air and hurls them in rapid succession. The hedgehogs narrowly dodge them all in their own unique fashion, with Silver throwing powerful psychic energy that effectively stuns Mephiles, since he is the manifestation of Solaris' mind. Shadow uses this chance to deliver teleporting strikes that bring home the damage, only for Mephiles to freeze time to counter the last attack. Suddenly he is kicked back by Sonic, who's moving faster than time itself thanks to his upgraded shoes so Time Freeze doesn't work on him.
As soon as he recovered, Mephiles shouts, "DARKNESS JUDGMENT!" forming a large vortex of energy above his enemies that rain down a hailstorm of energy blasts. The Hedgehogs dodge several of them but were eventually tagged and bombarded by the rest, leaving them immobilized for Mephiles launch another horrifying attack. That, being using his all-powerful telekinesis to rip a massive Solkarian Airship out of the sky with little effort. And what's worse, the ship is full of passengers that are desperately trying to evacuate.
Facing utter annihilation, the Hedgehogs hurry to save the passengers and fight Mephiles at the same time. As they climb the falling airship, Silver volunteers to hold off Mephiles while Sonic and Shadow use their respective speed to save as many passengers as they can. Once they were successful, Sonic shouts, "LET'S GO, SHADOW!" as they leap off the edge of the ship.
"YEAH!" Shadow responded.
Swiftly, they charge up for a Double Light Speed Attack that surprises Mephiles with a violent flurry of assaults. Both hedgehogs swiftly take turns, with Sonic delivering kicks and spin attacks, and Shadow delivering punches and Chaos Spears. Already tired of their teamwork, Mephiles decides to pick up the pace himself, moving faster than both hedgehogs so he may blast them and Silver into the collapsed airship, causing it to explode in a blaze of horror. Sensing they're not dead yet, Mephiles charges up his corruptive power to fire a much larger blast that won't kill them, but will corrupt their mind, body, and soul, just like he did to Silver several weeks ago.

"Rise. Show me how the darkness has turned you." said Mephiles, calmly eager to watch his foes go berserk in another futile attempt to defeat him. Too bad for him, his little ploy fails to take the trio over as they emerge from the flames with magical barriers protecting each of them. "A protection spell, huh. How clever of you, Witch." Mephiles calmly remarked to Scarlet Witch, who quietly appeared behind him, as if he expected them to be shielded from his dark energy.
Wanda grimaces, "Keep acting calm and tough. We BOTH know you've been avoiding me every time we're in the same place. You're terrified of Nexus Beings, of me having the power to erase Solaris."
BGM-Chaos Legion OST-Pledge
"You presume too MUCH!" The annoyed Mephiles quickly turns and blasts Wanda at point-blank range, though it causes no damage thanks to her own magic barrier.
Scarlet Witch proceeds to overpower Mephiles with a Chaos Rift, bursting open a portal to the Chaos Dimension and unleashing its dangerous energies that sends the demon flying toward the mutual sights of Ruby Rose, Yu Narukami, Hyde Kido, and Ragna the Bloodedge in his Unlimited Mode.
"Finally! It's our turn, asshole!" Ragna cursed.
The four interdimensional heroes take turns pinballing the flunged demon, starring Ruby smacking him with her scythe, swiftly followed by Hyde slashing him several times, knocking him toward Narukami and his Persona blasting him with lightning, allowing Ragna to spin like a dark sword-wielding cyclone that relentlessly assaults him with little resistance as they fall out of the sky. With a furious roar, Ragna slams the demon with the destructive force to bury him deep below the massively cratered ground.
Swiftly, Ragna's little squad regroup taking defensive positions, knowing full well Mephiles is nowhere close to being dead. That is immediately proven true as dark energy violently erupts from the crater, turning the streets dark whilst spewing out hundreds of Mephiles clones that completely surround the four warriors.
"Can't escape from crossing fate, Heroes of four different universes. You'll regret opposing my darkness!" said all the Mephiles clones simultaneously to sound hauntingly threatening.
"Try your worst!" Hyde taunted him.
Mephiles complies, commanding all of his copies to assault the heroes with various dirty attacks to throw them off their game. Most of them don't fall for them, with Hyde wiping out swarms of fakes with his Gyre Vortex attack, and Narukami and his Persona Cross Slashing the giant dark monsters born from his merged shadows.
"Mephiles! I won't let you do as you please!" declared Ragna while massacring his clones.
"That's right! You'll pay for making Faunus suffer! For using Salem and Ozpin as your pawns! Trying to lead Remnant to dead futures!" Ruby vented while fending off other copies.
"Oh? Has my little huntress toy discovered my dirty secret?" mocked Mephiles before exclaiming, "Subspace Summon: DORMAMMU!" Out of thin air, a fairly strong, obedient, and large copy of the Dread Dormammu from another timeline appears to slam its mighty hand on Ruby, ruthlessly weakening her Aura as she screams in pain. Watching her pinned from the shoulder of his time slave, the real Mephiles takes this moment to taunt her, "Remnant was my playground until the Avengers and Freedom Fighters intervened with the timeline. The Avengers were the most unexpected guests, possessing the most…bothersome of traits. A prime example that all mortals should be expunged." He proclaimed while preparing the killing blast for Ruby.
Though crushed by the hand of a fire demon, Ruby's head is still out in the open as she triggers her Light Mode, activating her silver eyes to blind Devil Mephiles temporarily, "Grrh! Your light isn't as effective against this level of darkness-!"
"What a shame!" Suddenly the sarcastic Hyde cuts him off, literally, delivering a painful slash with his immortal-killing blade that knocks Mephiles off of Dormammu's shoulder.
"PERSONA! EVOLVE!" shouted Narukami, ordering his Persona to evolve into its Ultimate, Izanagi-no-Okami, form. The evolved Persona rockets the Subspace Summon with a thunderbolt that distorts it out of this timespace, freeing Ruby from its grasp. "You alright, Ruby?" He asked while checking up on her.

"Yeah…" Ruby weakly responded.
BGM-Super Dragon Ball Heroes OST- Reversal Exchange
Meanwhile, Mephiles and Hyde continue to have a brief clash, until the malicious demon traps the swordsman inside an energy sphere. "Be executed by darkness!" With a sadistic gesture, Mephiles causes the sphere to shrink, crushing Hyde as he screams at his impending death.
Before his sphere could implode to kill Hyde, Mephiles is violently stunned by a surprise psychic burst from Silver, forcing him to lose his grip on his friend. Hyde quickly takes his revenge on Mephiles, smacking him toward Silver, who furiously blasts him across the sky.
"Now it's our turn! Yu! Izanagi!" shouted Sonic, suddenly running back into the fight.
Working together with Ultimate Izanagi and its lightning, Sonic unleashes a lightning-fast assault that manage to land several hits on their mutual enemy, until the demon furiously recovered to brutally repel them with energy blasts. It was then Ruby and Scarlet Witch's turn to strike, with the Witch binding him with chains of light that weaken his darkness for the Huntress to drop kick and use her Semblance to fly into the sky, hooking him around the neck with her scythe to take him along for the ride. She propels herself higher and higher by firing Crescent Rose repeatedly before flipping upside down and using one final shot to slash Mephiles in a flurry of rose petals shouting, "YAAAAAAH!"
That astral-heating strike slammed Mephiles out of the sky until he was caught by a floating demonic hand formed from Ragna's darkness. With a gesture, Ragna commands the hand to brutally squeeze the energy out of Mephiles, an unintimidating trick that didn't last very long as the demon burst himself free, right before being confronted by Shadow the Hedgehog.
Mephiles scoffs, "Using Soul Eater against me? It's still futile. My power is as everlasting as the sins of humanity."
"I wonder…" Shadow responds with a devious smirk that implies he's up to something.
The Black Hedgehog begins overpowering Devil Mephiles, dodging his initial punch and retaliating with a kick to his back, following up with two delayed energy punches that annoys the demon. Swiftly, Shadow automatically removes his Inhibitor Rings to stylishly enter his Chaos Form, with an added bonus. Thanks to the Cosmic Memory Shard given to him by Apocalypse weeks prior, his Chaos Form has been vastly enhanced, sporting a larger, cosmically denser red aura while his eyes completely go white.
Mephiles' own eyes widen in rare shock, commenting, "What?" as he has no data on this evolved transformation.
With this newly-Evolved Chaos Mode boosting his powers beyond their limits, Shadow completely pummels Mephiles with a barrage of punches that are too fast for even the Devil Demon to see, absolutely shredding his body with a superpowered screaming, "HAAAAAAAAH!" energy punch that sends Mephiles flying into a building.

Watching the fight nearby is Scarlet Witch, commenting, "His chaos power has truly evolved, and in conjunction with his new technique. Chaos Soul Splitter…The plan is working." She grimly sensed.
BGM-Metroid Prime 2: Echoes OST-Dark Samus Approaching
Lying in the rubble while in anguish, Mephiles gruntingly thinks to himself, 'My regeneration… isn't keeping up with the damage? And my lifeforce is weakening…not just from Soul Eater.' As he struggles to stand from the rubble, the Devil finds himself confronted by Shadow and his team patiently ready for his next move. Sealing away his anger, Mephiles calmly remarks, 'Whatever this new power is, it's allowing him to siphon energy upon contact. They must be planning to weaken enough of my energy in a bid to seal me away. I must keep my distance from Shadow and Ragna together. Separate them all while I refocus my energy.'
"Had enough?" Shadow taunted the demon.
"Have you?" Mephiles retorted, "I'm well familiar behind the concept of your Limiters. The longer you go without them, the more that power strains your body. It must be torture. So satisfying."
"Man he's creepy…" frowned Silver, disturbed by his sadistic demeanor.
"Didn't stop ya from working with him trying to kill me." Sonic slyly quipped at the side.
"That was an accident!" The embarrassed Silver retorted.
With a grin, Sonic snarks, "And now ya get to correct your mistake. Let me soften 'em up for ya." Revving up his Super Peel Out, Sonic rushes at the demon that stands suspiciously calm before him. That's only because in a blink of an eye, Mephiles shoots out an unavoidable wall of darkness that consumes Sonic swiftly before consuming the rest of his shocked friends one at a time, until only Mephiles is left to boast his demonic power.
"This isn't over yet. I'll show you…the torturing essence of the power of time." Mephiles creepily proclaimed before vanishing into the darkness to follow wherever, or perhaps whenever, he sent his enemies.

Meanwhile…Inside Kang's Citadel
An avenging team comprised of Amazing Spider-Man, Iron Man, Cia, Summer Rose 2099, Modern Knuckles, and Chrono King Rogers have quietly infiltrated the Citadel, home base of Kang the Conqueror. With their many friends holding off his forces outside, they are their last hope in defeating the Conqueror and returning the world back to normal. So far things are quiet. Too quiet inside a massive chamber, quickly worrying the team.
"Where is everybody?" asked Knuckles.
"Kang's arrogance has left him vulnerable." Cia believed.
"Let's keep it that way. Quiet as mice." ordered Captain America.
Yet right after those quiet orders were given, a loud explosion blows open a hole in the upper-level startling the heroes. They all look up to find Boom Shadow, grimly walking out of his own smoky mess. Cia facepalms at his recklessness, while Spidey simply jokes, "Unfortunately that guy is as loud as a hedgehog."
"Came to give us a hand, Shadow?" asked Summer, getting his attention.
"Think what you want. I'm here for Kang's head." Shadow arrogantly retorted.
BGM-Sonic Battle OST-E-121 Phi's Theme
Expectedly, their commotion triggered the alarms to blare, summoning a horde of Chronos Corpsmen to rush in and confront the intruders. "Here we go again." scowled Steve, prompting himself and his team to get into fighting positions and deal with the goons quickly. They've come too far to quit. Kang is just so close. All they need to do is blast through the opposition and put an end to this Time War forever.

Earth (Ice Age)
Opening in a snowy field enveloped in ice is a dark portal that spits out Sonic and Ruby. The two young heroes crash headfirst on the ice, daze as they weakly stand up, with Sonic nearly tripping on the slippery ice if Ruby didn't catch him.
BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) OST-Mephiles Phase 2
"Now this is a cold reception. Where're the others? Where did Mephiles send us to?" wondered Sonic.
Ruby glances at her unfamiliar surroundings remarking, "I think I saw an area like this in Chronopolis. But…this isn't Chronopolis." She believed whilst staring up at the cold sky.
Shocked, Sonic retorts, "Seriously?! If this isn't Chronopolis…Were we really blasted back to the ICE AGE?"
"Exactly right." Creepily, Devil Mephiles sneaked up behind Sonic to spook him, sending shivers down his spine as he quickly turns around to retaliate, only to hit nothing but the cold air. In a blink of an eye, Mephiles reappears to kick Sonic in the face, sending him crashing into Ruby, causing both of them to crash toward an icy wall. "I scattered you and your friends across time, to the most catastrophic moments in history, with some additions of my own. Simultaneously, you will all suffer toward a lovely death." He gloated.
Recovering back on his feet, Sonic smirkingly runs on the ice as he quips, "How nice! C'mon! What gimmick you tryin' to make us suffer? Give us a cold?"
"Look."
"Look what?"
"Your feet."
"Huh?" Sonic looks down at his spinning feet to horrifyingly realize he hasn't moved an inch because of the ice. He suddenly stops to shout, "OH NO!" because Mephiles blasts Sonic in the back, sending flying from iceberg to iceberg with every torturous blast.
Hurrying to save her friend, Ruby assaults Mephiles, who easily dodges her attacks with superior speed. The Huntress speeds herself up with her Semblance, closing the gap just briefly before the deadly weather nearly froze her petals and force her out of her Semblance to shiver, "BRRRRR! My petals can't handle this weather…Still…" She glares at Mephiles, still determined to take him down whatever it takes.
Alongside a determined Sonic, Ruby leaps over the ice and through the snow to unleash a combined assault on the Dark Demon, but even their impressive teamwork can't make a break through his dark defensives. Dashing back just enough, Mephiles shouts, "Infinite Time Slash: HELL BRAID!" the technique that can neutralize their speed. His darkness creates an endless amount of dark spikes that extend in all directions, painfully impaling the limbs of his enemies whilst entrapping them in the depths of his spiky cage.
"OWAAAAAAH! COULDN'T…DODGE 'EM ALL!" shouted Sonic, with both himself and Ruby completely immobilized.
"Can't…reach my weapon…" Ruby desperately reaches for her scythe, but alas it is too far from her reach.
Taking pleasure of their weakened state, Mephiles takes to the sky to power up a massive energy sphere with one raised hand. "Now…try to come back to life from this, Sonic the Hedgehog!" He taunted him, preparing to utterly eradicate both his former victim and Ruby. The heroes are literally in a tight spot as they fear for their lives, hoping, desperately hoping that a miracle will save them in the next few seconds.
Asgard (Ragnarok Era, MCU Timeline)
"TREMBLE BEFORE ME ASGARD, FOR I AM YOUR RECKONING!" yelled the massive Fire Demon Surtur as he rampages through the Asgard of this timeline, fulfilling his destined role as the bringer of Ragnarok. He swings his massive sword destroying an entire city block, one that the time-displaced Shadow and Hyde barely fled from with their lives.
"WHERE THE HELL ARE WE? WHO'S THE GIANT NAKED FIRE MONSTER?!" yelled by a terrified Hyde, as he and Shadow run away from the demonic carnage.
"We're on Asgard and that's Surtur! Damn that Mephiles trying to kill us with an apocalypse!" Shadow scowled.
Surtur continues to grow until he has reached extinction level scale, having the time of his life slashing away the landscape below, when suddenly a massive black spike explodes from the water and slams into his chest. From beneath the water, the Goddess of Death Hela explodes into the scene, riding a huge spiked manifestation of her powers. She goes for the Fire Demon, attacking with all her might, but Surtur endures her annoying attacks to wind up, holding his sword above his head yelling, "I AM ASGARD'S DOOM!" before driving his sword through Hela and into the heart of Asgard.
"He just killed Hela…" A shocked Shadow commented.
Immediately after, the entire realm is hit with a cataclysmic earthquake that shakes everything and nearly trips up both heroes. "And the entire planet in a few seconds! What do we do?!" shouted Hyde.
Shadow replies, "If only I had a Chaos Emerald to amplify my Chaos Control…"
"We left it with Stark!" Hyde retorted.
"He's gonna be the death of us. Literally!" Shadow frowned worriedly, as both he and Hyde are on the cusp of being engulfed by planetary devastation.
Earth (Prehistoric Age)
"Don't know what's worse!" A time-displaced Yu Narukami jokes around while narrowly evading a warping arm attack from Mephiles' Time Eater avatar in a jungle, "Facing off against Mephiles' Persona…" And as quickly as he landed, the frightened teenager flees from three angry Triceratops, "OR RUNNING AWAY FROM DINOSAURS THAT STILL ROAM THE EARTH!"
Swiftly, Silver comes to his friend's rescue as he psychically flies him out of the dinosaur's range. "Both suck!" answered the Psychic Hedgehog. His attention swiftly shifted to that of an ominous red light in the sky that appears to be getting bigger and bigger, "Hey, what's that in the sky?"
Upon staring at the light himself, Yu was horrified to realize, "That's the meteor…"
"What meteor?" asked Silver, who is not too familiar with his world history.
"The meteor that wipes out the dinosaurs!" Yu shouted.
"Oh shock!" The surprised Silver cursed, before their flight was violently cut off by the Time Eater Spirit, forcing them to crash in the sights of a massively T-Rex that is hungry for their flesh and bones. "This…might be the worst way to die…" muttered the terrified Silver, as both he and Yu stare at death in the separate forms of the Time Eater, the T-Rex, and the incoming meteor.
"GRAAAAAAAAAAAH!" roared the T-Rex.
Chaotian Age
"This HAS to be the worst way to die!"
Fighting for his life atop a meteor fragment in the vastness of space, Ragna fends off a swarm of time-copies of one of his worst enemies: The crazy Sword of Izanami, Nu-13. Thanks to Mephiles' tampering, she has been cloned and corrupted by darkness and has pushed the Grim Reaper to the defense as she talks, and laugh, very creepy to him, "RAGNA! I've finally found you! Nu's been so lonely all this time…! Fate has given me another chance to kill you again! Isn't that great?!"
"HELL NO! Damn that Mephiles for trapping me in this hell! Where the hell are we anyway?" asked Ragna, glancing to Scarlet Witch who's in the middle of preparing a spell within a protective barrier.
"Uh…the beginning of time, I think." Wanda sheepishly answered.
"SERIOUSLY!" Ragna shouted in utter surprise.
"Hey Ragna, who is that girl?" asked one of the Nus.
"I thought Ragna was Nu's… That Nu was Ragna's…" said another Nu.
"WANDAAAA! Hurry up and get us home!" Ragna urged her to complete the time spell.
While waving her magic hands, Wanda retorts, "Keep holding them off until I-AH!" until she was startled by the sudden assault of the Nus.
"You dare to stand in Ragna and Nu's way? I'LL KILL YOU!" A Dark Nu threatened, commanding her clones to relentlessly attack the barrier as it starts to wear down.
"RAGNAAAAA!" Wanda yelled for immediate assistance.
The Grim Reaper hurries to the rescue, blowing away the crazy robot with one devastating swipe. He won't hold them off forever, so Wanda works her butt off to complete the spell that'll not only save her and Ragna, but her other friends that were scattered across time. She locates them with her magic, opening windows to the three different eras where her friends are about to die in three different apocalypses.
Just as she's about to complete the transport spell that'll warp them all back to Chronopolis, Ragna gets viciously dogpiled by the Nus while yelling, "ANY TIME NOW!"
"BY THE WINDS OF WATOOMB, GRANT US PASSAGE THROUGH THE DOORS OF TIME AND CHAOS!" Yelling out her teleportation spell, Wanda called forth a surge of chaos-enhanced magic that swiftly warps herself and Ragna out of the Chaotian Age, much to Nu's disappointment.

"Awwww…" One of the Nus frowned.
Her chaos magic spreads throughout the timestream, targeting the other three eras at the same time. In the Prehistoric Age, Silver and Yu were rescued before the meteor wiped out the dinosaurs. In the Ragnarok Era, both Shadow and Hyde were warped away from an exploding Asgard. And in the Ice Age, Sonic and Ruby just barely escaped certain death by the hands of Mephiles. Sensing his enemies were just rescued at the last second by Scarlet Witch, a surprised Mephiles growls furiously at this failure before following them back to Chronopolis.
Back in Chronopolis…
Sonic's team returned to the spot where they left, bruised, tired, but eternally grateful they escaped their respective apocalypses. "That…was EXTREMELY close!" A panting Sonic exclaimed.
"Understatement of the freaking CENTURY!" Hyde retorted.
"Let's all agree…that we NEVER do that again." expressed Silver, with both Yu and Ruby immediately sharing his sentiment with agreeing nods.
Smiling at their scarlet savior, Ragna says, "Thanks, Wanda. You saved us."
"We're not out of the woods yet." glowered Wanda, sensing their mutual enemy is returning to this reality.
Swiftly yet full of fury, Mephiles appears before the heroes that managed to escape his temporal torture spaces. It seems that no matter how much power he steals, no matter where in time and space he fights them, heroes like them are capable of escaping fate and forging their own, perhaps because of their unwavering will to never give up even during the darkest of hopeless times. That is an issue that Mephiles just wants to erase, permanently and immediately.
"Again and again, you continue to interfere! You continue to escape my wrath! You insects shouldn't be too hard to SQUASH!" Mephiles angrily exclaimed.
Standing before his friends, Sonic steps forward to deliver a firm retort, "Don't underestimate me or my friends, Mephiles!"
"Pah…Don't go thinking you can defeat me THAT EASILY!" Alongside his furious roar, Devil Mephiles fuses himself with many of his shadowy minions to emerge as a towering monstrous shadow that vaguely resembles Imperfect Iblis. His monstrous form powers up a scary energy blast from his mouth, yelling, "Die…DIE IN THE DARKNEEEEESSSSSSSS!" while unleashing the energy as a demonically massive beam that carves a lengthy trench to the ends of the city. A devastatingly powerful blast that doesn't discriminate between friend or foe, as long as it erased his enemies from existence entirely.
Just barely, the heroes survived by taking cover behind sturdy debris at the last second. An annoyed Shadow grunts, "We're getting nowhere separately!"
"You and Ragna need to get into position to finish him off!" said Ruby with a plan in mind, turning toward her friends with, "The rest of us are gonna attack together to catch Mephiles off guard!"
BGM-BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle OST-Crossing Fate (BB Ver.)
Her friends nod to her plan, added by Sonic responding with, "Yeah!"
Alone in the ruined battlefield, Mephiles looks around for any sign of his despicable enemies. "Where do you think you're hiding? …Huh?" Out of nowhere, he felt his immortal soul being slashed by Hyde who appeared high and behind him in the air.
"Like the shroud of darkness…Crimson Edge!" shouted Hyde, having attacked him at blinding speeds, using the power of Insulator to violently stun the demon down to his very soul. "Your soul is now vulnerable, MEPHILES!" He shouted, prompting the next phase of their plan to begin.
Down below is Scarlet Witch, Ruby, Yu and his Ultimate Persona glaring down the stunned monstrosity. "Here comes the light to conquer your darkness!" said Wanda, fusing a magical glyph of light to where the demon's heart is located.
"TAKE THIS!" Ruby activates her silver eyes just as she shoots a bullet straight glyph-infused heart, forcing the light to spread throughout Mephiles, temporarily turning him from a creature of darkness into a demon that is being tortured by his own light.
"This is TRUTH!" shouted Yu, commanding his Ultimate Persona to summon a gigantic thunderbolt that rains down on Mephiles with the power to shred him back to his smaller Devil Form, that way Wanda could bind him still with the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak.
Suddenly from a side, "HAAAAAAAH!" Silver roars as he fiercely charges at the binded Mephiles with the full power of his psychokinesis.
From the opposite side, "SONIC WINNNNNND!" Evolved Lightning Sonic screams while ferociously boosting toward the immobilized Mephiles with the full power of his speed.
At the last second, the binded Mephiles was still able to project a dark barrier to narrowly block their highly explosive charge yet struggle to repel them as they relentlessly fight back with all their power and rage. "Still…trying to get in my way…" Mephiles angrily muttered.
Watching the plan working so far from a vantage point, Evolved Chaos Shadow and Unlimited Ragna prepare to deliver the finishing blow. With a grave nod, Ragna nods, "Now! Let's go, Shadow!" before the grim duo leap into action.
While powering up to the max, charging up a red, chaotic energy sphere in his left hand, Shadow shouts, "Behold the ULTIMATE POWER!"
As he powers up to the point of transforming into a demonic Grim Reaper, charging up a blazing blue energy sphere in his right hand, Ragna shouts, "The ultimate power between the Azure and Chaos! OUR POWER!"
Fearless of their full power, Mephiles laughs, "Accept your limits and die in the darkness! MORTAALLLLLSSSSSS!" as he surprisingly expands his dark barrier with all his might.
"CHAOS…" As both Shadow and Ragna talk, they combine their respective energy spheres to form one massive meteor-shaped attack that is called, "AZURE CRUSHER!" Their destructive combo enters the collision between Sonic's electrified boost and Silver's psychic charge, as all four heroes work together with all their might to challenge Mephiles' barrier.
From Sonic's furious, "GURRRRRRRHHAAAAAAAAAAA!" pouring in more fury into his Boost.
To Silver's intense, "HOOORRRAAAAAAAAAAAA!" pushing his psychokinesis beyond his limit.
And Shadow and Ragna's combined, "HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" giving their attack that final push.
Simultaneously, through their sheer willpower, the four heroes broke through his barrier, absolutely stunning Mephiles long enough for their outrageous attacks to connect and smash him to the ground from all angles. "GUH! HRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH…!" Mephiles screamed in ultimate pain and agony while being consumed into total defeat by the sheer, destructively explosive light produced by their teamwork.

Once the light vanished and the dust settled, all that is left of Mephiles is a severely weakened body that is on a crash course in melting away. "I am…forever… I am…invincible…" Those were the Demon Hedgehog's last words before his body melts into a harmless puddle completely drained of energy.
Alas, even in this harmless primordial form, Mephiles is immortal. He cannot be truly vanquished. At best, sealed away. And so, Scarlet Witch with the necessary magic to do the deed. She entraps the dark puddle within a glyph powered by the very light of chaos, performing quick hand gestures while speaking ancient incantations that further brightens the light.
"No more, Mephiles. Your dark rampage through time ends. Sleep for eternity in the Labyrinth of Light!" Wanda declared.
And with that, the Nexus Being fulfills her duty as she banishes the darkness into the very depths of her prison of light, never to be seen or heard from ever again. Wanda collapses to her knees, exhausted from a cruelly intense fight. Sonic hurries to check on her, gently, with the sorcereress telling him he's alright by simply giving him a smiling thumbs-up. Smiling himself, Sonic replies with a thumbs-up of his own. With the battle won, Ragna turns off his Azure Grimoire while Shadow puts back on his Inhibitor Rings, as the rest of the team take this moment for a well-earned breather.
"What a marvelous show you all performed. Bravo. Truly each of you were highly impressive, moreso as a team."
Ragna was the first to recognize that type of elegant praise as he turns around to face Rachel Alucard, who is accompanied by Nick Fury. "Rabbit. And Fury." He tiredly greeted them both.
"Was Mephiles successfully sealed?" sternly asked by Fury.
Wanda nods to him, "Yes. It is highly unlikely he'll ever escape. I made sure that there is no dark energy in that dimension that he can bond with to assume a form. The energy he has previously stolen have been depleted."
"Good job." Fury complimented them.
"How're the other battles going?" asked Shadow.
"Those Dragon Gods are still being annoying. Besides them we're starting to get comfortable pushing back their forces." Fury answered, saying that the Avengers Alliance still have the advantage in this city-wide battle.
Rachel then says, "Though the Mind of Solaris is once again sealed, his raw power is still out of control threatening to purge this world in flames. Time is of the essence."
"Don't worry 'bout that." Sonic grins to her confidence, "Some of our mightiest pals are on their way to deal with them." Shifting to a grim stare, the hedgehog turns to the Citadel. He shares the view with his friends as they wonder what is going on inside that place. One thing Sonic is sure of as he says, "Cap. Tony. Spidey. We're counting on you guys. Good luck, and give Kang trouble."

KFX Here: Oh my god, another chapter already? This is the beauty of having a chapter focused on a single fight with a select number of characters, and having a good time writing it too. Wonder if the same will be said for the next one as, at last, the fight against Kang the Conqueror begins.
TheCommonCold: Not the biggest fan of Superior Spider-Man, so don't expect an adaptation of that story arc any time soon.
Nathan Ramos: I'll keep those story ideas in mind.
