Act 3 Issue 15: Solaris Revival

Several Days Ago…In Wakanda Island

Alone during a morning, in the city that is still quiet, is Nick Fury walking through the halls of the royal palace. He makes his way toward the War Room with files in his hand that'll help in the Alliance's preparations for their counterattack against the Chronos Corps. The fate of the world hinges on his team cleaning up the mess that started with SHIELD and their Project PEGASUS, for their reckless experiments on Solaris. Whatever it takes, Fury promises himself to correct his mistake, even if it kills him.

But as he nears the War Room, he was stopped by a friendly presence looking out a window in the middle of the hallway. It's Cia, and she looks to be lost in thought. "Trouble sleeping?" exclaimed Fury, snapping the sorceress out of her trance as he approaches her side.

"Perhaps. I've had a lot on my mind, in regards to the outcome of this counterattack we're planning. Of its fate." Cia responded.

"Want to share?" Fury requested.

An uncertain Cia looks away from him, frowning while humming, "Hmmm…"

"You can trust me. Just like how you entrusted the Sol Vessel in my care 20 years ago." Fury sincerely convinces her to tell him what she has foreseen.

Reluctant but nonetheless convinced, Cia looks back at her friend with a solemn expression in both body and tone as she begins with, "…I foresee the death of time in this coming conflict. The battle at Kang's base will be hailed as the greatest in history. At the cost of an individual that neither side will see coming…That price will buy a window of opportunity for the two fragments of Solaris to remerge into their original persona. There is nothing we can do to prevent that."

Unsurprised while crossing his arms from what he heard, Fury grimly remarks, "I see…What are our chances?"

"Slim."

"Good enough. Get our countermeasures ready." Fury ordered.

"The Tokizoids should be done remodeling by the time we find and raid Kang's base. Good thing I had foresight to collect their pieces ahead of time before they could be used against time." Cia replied cryptically regarding a secret Anti-Solaris contingency plan between herself and Fury, "I know this was my idea to hide this from the Avengers. They're used to you hiding secrets, and I rather not leave them with guilt of my recklessness. They're the first group of friends I've made in a very long time. And the Chrono Avengers…they've become like family to me. Not to mention this plan of ours has risks of doing more harm than good."

"Without this, the Avengers won't stand a chance. They already have a lot on their plate as is. Besides, they've proven time and again fate can change, so there's that possibility your vision won't come to pass." Fury said stern, yet encouraging words to cheer up his Chronoan friend.

Alongside a somber nod, Cia replies, "…I hope so. Thank you, Nick." She said, with Fury acknowledging with a solemn nod.

Without muttering another word, the Former Director and the Time Sorceress take a moment exchanging stares at each other's eyes before the pair share a passionate kiss, revealing they have feelings for each other that goaded them into taking this step. After sharing that lovely moment, the two smilingly reel away from each other's faces.

"You've been holding that in." Fury joked.

"Be lucky you're my first after a millennium." snarked Cia. But alas, love is not everlasting when facing a potential temporal catastrophe. And so, with a grim frown marked on her face, Cia says to Nick, "Goodbye." before walking away to do about the rest of her day, leaving Fury alone and concerned that her prophecy won't come to pass.

Present Day…at Chronopolis

BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) OST-Elise's Tears

Unfortunately, Cia's prophecy is looking into becoming a reality. The Avengers won the Battle of Chronopolis, but at the surprise cost of Princess Ravonna sacrificing herself to save Kang from the wrath of a revived Mephiles the Dark. Cia, alongside her team of Avengers consisting of Iron Man, Amazing Spider-Man, Summer 2099, Modern Knuckles, Boom Shadow, and Chrono King Rogers, confront the freed demon in the Citadel that houses the Solaris System, with only them standing between Mephiles and Iblis, and by extension, Solaris' resurrection.

Growling furiously over Ravonna's death, Cia snarls, "Mephiles, how could you…!"

"Why are you upset? She was your enemy." Mephiles calmly asked.

"Not an excuse to kill her in cold blood!" Cia shouted angrily.

"How are you still here? I received the report that Wanda sealed you away!" Iron Man asked, furiously angry to see Mephiles has somehow escaped the Labyrinth of Light.

"Simple. With this." Mephiles reveals in his hand the purple Chaos Emerald he has been hiding from friend and foe alike throughout this whole war.

Horrifically surprised by this reveal, Spidey shouts, "No! That's the missing Chaos Emerald! He had it all along!"

Knuckles growls, "He must've absorbed enough negative energy to use Chaos Control to escape!"

"You're very smart for a gullible echidna." Mephiles mocked before explaining his escape, "Yes. I've had this Emerald LONG before we waged war in Chrono World to use as insurance in the event I'm sealed away again. Though I'm loathe to admit it, even with this Emerald, it was a hassle distorting my way out of that infernal prison of light. Those Hedgehogs and the Witch did more to me than I had anticipated."

"How could you, Mephiles…?" Kang sternly spoke at the traitor of his Chronos Corps, the murderer of his dear Ravonna that he had finished mourning over, "Why her? Why murder Ravonna?! She was NOTHING to you!"

"I wanted you dead since you were left weak after your battle with the Avengers." Mephiles answered, "Her nonsensical love for you is what got her killed. Although, it was worth it, just to see that delightful look of misery on your face." He said with such sadism that infuriates his former partner.

Kang viciously snarls, "Bastard, and after everything I've done for you…"

"Oh yes. I haven't properly thanked you for conducting such a wonderful Project." Mephiles continues to mock him, "Iblis and the seven Chaos Emeralds, with ALL my enemies weak from battle. Everything has been gathered around this Citadel. In this crowning city that rules over all of Chrono World. The hour of my ascension has arrived. The Day of Disaster is HERE!" He emphasized through his petrifying psychotic eyes.

"Sorry, we'll have to reschedule!" quipped Tony, as the heroes rush to prevent Mephiles from remerging with Iblis.

Alas, none of them were fast enough to stop Mephiles from snapping his fingers to effortlessly freeze everyone, Kang included, in time. Mephiles laughs maniacally as he casually walks up to the frozen Iron Man, "Arrogant, just like your father. Not even that new Armor can break free from a Time Freeze empowered by Chaos Emeralds in such close proximity. Speaking of…"

BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) OST-The Villain Was Set Free

Psychically and heartlessly, the Dark Demon pulls out both the turquoise Chaos Emerald stored inside the Iron Man Armor and the Arc Reactor that was keeping Tony alive. Mephiles throws away the Arc Reactor before walking up to the Solaris System. Without a second thought, he blasts open the machine that was imprisoning his other fiery half, finally freeing it. The Power of Solaris, Iblis. And the Mind of Solaris, Mephiles the Dark. At last, both fragments of the Eternal Sun God are reunited. "This will be the last time any of us will be sealed! Now I can finally join with you! IBLIIIISSSS!" Mephiles exclaimed happily, "Now, Chaos Emeralds, with a revised script! IT'S TIME FOR THE FINAL CURTAIN CALL!" He proclaimed as his two Chaos Emeralds levitate into the air, with the other five reacting to them as the unholy unification between light and darkness commence.

Outside…

The Web Warriors consisting of Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Mayday Parker, and Agent Venom have just finished rounding up the remnants of Kang's Forces. They were greeted by a friendly wave from Modern Sonic, who approaches them alongside Modern Shadow, Silver, Scarlet Witch, Ruby, Ragna, Yu, and Hyde after they all survived the titanic battle between Captain America and Kang.

This war looks to be about over. That is, until a terrifyingly powerful danger triggers the Spider-Senses of every webslinger except for Spidey 2099, since he has no Spider-Sense, to the point of them collapsing onto their knees with Miles screaming, "GAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

"Hey! What's wrong with you guys?!" A worried Ragna asked.

"It's their Spider-Sense. It's reacting to something!" Spidey 2099 retorted, "And from the looks of it, it's something terrible! But what could-?"

Boom! Miguel was interrupted by the sound of the entire Citadel blowing up from across the street. From top to bottom, floor to floor, explosions demolish everything within the massive tower as it goes up in flames, leaving those that have witnessed the explosion utterly horrified.

"HOLY SHOCK! The Citadel!" Miguel reacted.

"But our friends…LOOK!" Sonic pointed to a few someones falling from the burning Citadel.

It's Steve's team no longer frozen in time, having narrowly survived the explosion but still on a crash course to a high-falling death alongside the Master Emerald, which was also blown out of the Solaris System. Quickly, Silver catches his friends with his psychokinesis, while Miguel swings over catching the Master Emerald before it shattered into a million worthless pieces.

"Are you guys alright?" asked Silver while gently letting them down, before taking frightened notice of a dying Stark and his missing Arc Reactor, "Hey! What happened to your heart?!"

"Nevermind that…Stop Mephiles…" Stark weakly urged them.

"But we already did that." The confused Sonic replied.

"Oh yeah? Then who's THAT up there about to be a God?!" quipped Peter, furiously pointing to someone high in the sky.

"Huh?" As soon as Sonic and the gang looked up at the sky, their hearts instantly sank into horrified fear as the blue hedgehog mutters what the rest are too scared to say, "Oooooh no…"

BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) OST-The Resurrection of Solaris

High in the darkening storm, hovering above the ruins of the Citadel is Mephiles and the seven Chaos Emeralds that encircle his being. All the Emeralds work as one supplying him with their limitless power over time and space, to fix the internal damage that prevented him from re-fusing with Iblis. At last, the damage has been healed in time for Iblis' flames to envelop his darkness. To remerge themselves into their original persona. The Immortal God of Time and Destruction. The Eternal Sun God born to burn down history. Solaris, in his terrifyingly massive, vaguely half-humanoid figure armored with three shells of light, has at last descended from the heavens to initiate the Day of Disaster. The end of all things.

BGM-Mega Man Zero 4 OST-Ragnarok (Remastered)

Everyone in the Avengers Alliance, from Iron Man to Sonic, from Ruby to Ragna, from every superhero to the common soldier gathered right there in Chronopolis, are petrified of the resurrected Sun God that hover over them all. "We have failed…" proclaimed Rachel Alucard, calmly standing beside Apocalypse as they stare at god monster, "The God Flame that dominates over time has at last been resurrected."

"Solaris…So this is the fearful form you glimpsed at me during our last ancient feud." Apocalypse stoically muttered.

"So that creature is Solaris. Your brother." said Blaze the Cat, standing alongside Lady Phoenix and Noel Vermillion.

"Unfortunately." Phoenix quipped, "From what I can sense, he is NOT happy with anyone."

"He's like an evil Master Unit, with a body of light but with a mind and soul submersed in the most terrifying darkness…" Noel frowned, visibly frightened by the Monster God.

"That monster is responsible for my future self's corruption." scowled Young Salem, sharing a vicinity with Ozma and Oscar.

"The original incarnation of Remnant's Devil, and the Father of the Gods." Ozma commented.

"I can see the family resemblance, and sense a power far greater than the Gods…We're in trouble." Oscar timidly responded, comparing Solaris's head antlers to his Light God's.

Inside the Solkarian Flagship, the regained memories of Solaris' resurrection in the Lost Timeline enhances Princess Elise's petrified horror as she stares at that same God resurrected in this timespace. Winter Schnee notices her fright, and with a look of concern, asks her, "Princess, are you okay?"

"It's just like before…" Elise recalled his previous revival in Soleanna, "And in a few seconds…Winter!" She snaps at her friend shouting, "Tell everyone to retreat! Now, now, NOW!" which terrifies the acting general, now realizing that Solaris is the ultimate unbeatable threat if Elise ordering a massive retreat right away.

Unfortunately, Solaris won't make their retreat a walk in the park. "GWAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!" The godly beast roars out a devastating force that quakes the entire timespace to cause chaos and nearly immobilize the entire population. He hovers in place to gather into himself a terrifying amount of energy that preaches doom to every lower lifeform in Chronopolis.

"AVENGERS, FALL BACK! RETREAT!" screamed Captain America, equally terrified like the rest of his comrades as they all run as fast as they could away from the God that is eager to see them expunged from existence.

Solaris wasted no time. The instant he finished charging his energy, he unleashes it as a blinding explosion of light that atomizes everyone and everything in its path, to erase anything and anyone that threatens his plans for the universe. Several heroes and many soldiers were already consumed while the rest desperately try to escape to somewhere, anywhere that the light won't hopefully reach them. There are some complications, like Amazing Spider-Man holding the dying Iron Man and Modern Knuckles carrying his Master Emerald. They're among the many others that are seconds away from joining oblivion.

Silver and Cable were together as they flee until a piece of flying debris surprises the psychic hedgehog, smacking him hard to the ground with a concerned Cable shouting, "SILVER!" The Silver Hedgehog was fine, but won't be for long as the light rapidly approaches his behind. He glances at the light that's mere seconds away from him. So, upon realizing he won't escape, Silver closes his eyes to brace for the worst.

But then, a magical barrier that is massive enough to shield the entire Avengers Alliance was conjured in the nick of time. That barrier also saved Silver, who opens his eyes at the individual that risked their own life to save him, "Cia?"

BGM-Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 OST-Vegeta's Sacrifice

It is Cia that came to everyone's rescue through her own time magic colliding with Solaris'. Through her own painful grunts as she continues to push in more power, her barrier relentlessly struggles to repel Solaris' light, giving Silver enough time to stand back up.

"Idiot! He's too much for you! Just what are you trying to do?!" shouted Cable.

"MY DUTY AS THE GUARDIAN OF TIME!" Cia retorted while erupting into her Time Power Unleashed state, "I didn't want to use this if I didn't have to, but I'm going to release all of the power I've been storing all at once! AND I'M BETTING EVERYTHING TO STOP SOLARIS AND HIS PLANS!"

With one tremendously powerful push, Cia manage to gain a slight edge in her struggle that surprises Solaris himself. All the heroes that were fleeing in fear took a brave moment to stop and marvel at the power the Chronoan is unleashing in the name of friendship. "That power…" Sersi seem to realize what her best friend is up to as she horrifically shouts, "Cia, NO! You're not thinking of…!"

"SOLARIS!" Cia furiously shouted at the God of Chronoa, "You may be my God, but I will NOT tolerate your crimes against time any longer! It is YOU who is responsible for Chronoa's downfall, for this Time War! Worst of all, you have tampered with the lives and histories of my friends just to satisfy yourself! I'll never forgive you for that! So in the name of all my fallen brethren, wander with me forever outside the flow of time, YOU CURSED FLAMES OF DISASTER!"

Alongside her fierce declaration, numerous clocks and gears born from her own time power manifest in the airspace of Chronopolis as they begin glowing a strange light that harms the Sun God into roaring, "GWAAAA! GWRRAAAAAAGH!"

"AVENGERS!" shouted Cia, glancing a happy smile at her heroic friends from across the ages, "Continue protecting the world I love! It was an honor saving it with you all!" Her words were a goodbye that the Avengers weren't ready to accept as they could only respond with depressive stares. "CABLE!" She then shoots a smiling glance at the Chrono-Mutant, "Lead the Chrono Avengers in my stead! And try to lighten up! That's an order!" She stated, with Cable mournfully accepting. "AND SILVER…!" With him, she instead gives a very heart-breaking, warm smile as she solemnly tells him, "Take care of my Chao, okay?"

"Cia…" Silver muttered while stunned to the face.

With the goodbyes done, there is just one last thing left for Cia to complete. She turns back to Solaris with the fiercest glare of determination as she gathers all her remaining power for one last push alongside a furious, "HAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

A mystical light erupts from her body that overcomes Solaris' before consuming him whole. Her light spread throughout Chronopolis, consuming everything and everyone in its path including Silver and the Avengers Alliance. "CIAAAAAAAAA-…" screamed out by the horrified Silver before he and the heroes vanish into the beautiful light.

Time Sanctuary

BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) OST-The Time-Space Rift

In a flash of light, the heroes and villains of the Avengers Alliance were transported to the giant island fortress floating in a dimension beyond time and space known as the Time Sanctuary, Cia's home. Most of them were transported safe and sound while others, mainly the Sonics, fell and faceplanted the ground.

"What is this place?" asked Ryu upon standing up.

"We were sent to the Time Sanctuary." Black Widow glanced.

Meanwhile, Iron Man is still lying on the ground dying without an Arc Reactor to stabilize his heart. Luckily his AI counterpart, Stark Prime, came to his rescue with an extra Arc Reactor to save him. "Phew…" Tony sighed in relief while pulling up his faceplate, "That was too close for comfort."

"No kidding." quipped Stark Prime, helping his counterpart back on his feet.

"What happened to Cia?! To Chrono World?!" Silver worriedly rushed to Cable for any answers on their friend's current status.

Quickly whipping out his portal time device, the Chrono-Mutant scans what has become of the Timespace Rift. And what he discovered was shocking to say the least. "No way…" Cable muttered, "Most of Chrono World is growing increasingly unstable, but intact. Chronopolis, however…It disappeared!"

"What does that mean?!" Silver retorted.

"The Time Labyrinth."

All eyes turn to an apathetic Nick Fury, who seems to know exactly what just transpired, "A secret and highly-powerful time spell that only the most powerful Chronoan sorcerers could master. Cia used all of her power to seal herself and Solaris in the deepest crack of time." He revealed, which came as a horrified shock to nearly everyone on the island.

"Cia did that?" Peter remarked.

"Alone with Solaris…" Ruby commented until she scarily imagines Cia's fate, "No…You don't think…?!"

Modern Sonic turns away while closing his eyes and smashing his furious fists together exclaiming in mournful, "Cia…!"

Upon fearing the worst, Young Salem collapses and begins crying with a tearful Sersi comforting her, while everyone else are emotionally struck and mourn the loss of their dear friend. "Cia foresaw all of this. She knew Mephiles would betray the Chronos Corps and escape his light prison, and the moment he reformed as Solaris, would destroy everything. She sacrificed herself…to bring us together and buy us more time." Fury explained solemnly.

"And you knew she was planning this all along…" Silver vents out his anger at the secretive agent.

Scowling at Fury, Scarlet Witch remarks, "Not surprising. Always keeping secrets, even when they cost someone's life!"

Unfazed by their rage, Fury calmly retorts, "This wasn't my decision alone. Cia didn't want any of you to see her as a burden in the event of this worst-case scenario."

"GRAAAAAH!" Hulk roared in sad rage over Cia's sacrifice.

"She had honored her people in the noblest way…She was a true Avenger." expressed a mournful Prince Thor.

"She shown great strength in her sacrifice. The Last Chronoan no more…I have underestimated her resolve." said Apocalypse, admitting his respects for his fallen comrade.

Meanwhile, "GWRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" a strangely loud sound was spread so far and forceful that it reaches the closed-off Time Sanctuary and shakes it violently, startling everyone on it.

"It can't be…Solaris!" Spidey 2099 recognized right away.

Rachel Alucard comments, "An impressive creature, isn't he? Even within the confines of his prison, his roar shakes the cosmos. He is trying to break free. And once he has, he will swallow all timelines for their knowledge until the very meaning of time itself collapses. The sole living light in a void of nothing. That is his dream reality."

"The Solaris System was the thread that held Chrono World together. With it destroyed, the world can no longer sustain itself." Modern Shadow commented.

"And the timelines it's connected to are also in danger of collapsing." Rachel stated.

"So even though Solaris is imprisoned, our worlds still face complete annihilation unless we do something about it." said Linne.

"I say we go after Solaris! It's his power that caused all this! Destroying him should return everything to normal!" Ragna suggested.

Doc Ock steps up scolding, "That is pointless, Grim Reaper. Solaris is a transcendent lifeform that simultaneously exists in the past, present and future. Defeating him in ONE time period won't erase him from the rest."

"Then why not we attack him from ALL time periods?" Yang suggested.

"That strategy isn't any better. He is in possession of all seven Chaos Emeralds that are currently in use to disable the Time Labyrinth. Our combined might, however impressive, is a mere fraction to his infinite capabilities." Ock replied.

Eggman chimes in, "Then there's the Time Labyrinth itself. Cia designed it to be impenetrable. We can't break through from the outside, and the split-second Solaris escapes from the inside, he will plunge all of reality into darkness!

BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) OST-The Time-Space Rift

"No. I'm not gonna give up!" Silver exclaimed determinedly, gaining the attention of his friends as he says, "We beaten Solaris before and we can do it again! I refuse to believe Cia sacrificed herself without having faith in us!"

"Fury, Sersi, you two were the closest to Cia. Any ideas?" Captain America asked the two.

"Nothing that can break through the Labyrinth." Fury answered.

"Even if it were possible, we're still hopelessly outmatched." Sersi believed mournfully.

"Then maybe we can use our own Sol Power." exclaimed by a certain and calm Solkarian Princess.

All the heroes turn to a Princess Elise walking out of the crowd to speak out her idea. "Elise!" Peter remarked, a little surprised she too was sent to the Time Sanctuary.

Elise says, "Silver's words got me thinking. This is Cia's home, right? She knew Solaris was going to come back and wanted us to save the world she loved. So, she must have left us with some kind of key disguised as a memento of her and her people, to save her!"

Having taken a moment pondering her words, Apocalypse surprises himself upon exclaiming, "Of course! The Chronoan Relics!" Now all eyes focus on the evil mutant as he explains his plan, "The Chronoblade. The Forever Crystal. A Chrono King. All of them were created from Solaris' power to distort time and control fate. It might be possible to access the Time Labyrinth when used together!"

"Spider-Man! Captain America! Iron Man!" Elise smiles at those legendary heroes, "Only the three of you can change Cia's fate!"

"Really?" remarked by a shocked Iron Man.

"If you say so, Princess." Spidey quipped while materializing his Chronoblade into his hand.

"But there's still the matter of dealing with Solaris." Cap commented.

"We got back the Master Emerald. Knuckles can use it to weaken him!" believed Ruby.

"Wait, I can?" A confused Classic Knuckles retorted.

"WE can!" Modern Knuckles joins the side of his younger self, "The Master Emerald has the special power to neutralize the Chaos Emeralds. Once we do that, we can have Super Sonic take down that beast!"

"The heck's a Super Sonic?" A confused Boom Sonic confronts his Modern counterpart about a transformation he never heard about until now.

"The ultimate power fueled by everyone's wish." Modern Sonic answered, "It is the miracle that took out Solaris before and will do it again!"

"Ain't no way in hell we lettin' you fight him alone!" Wolverine retorted.

"The best we can do is buy you time to unleash your superpower!" Yu declared.

Proudly smiling at his team, Fury remarks, "Was waiting for you all to come up with a plan! I got just the thing to boost our odds!"

Following Fury into the depths of a hanger bay, the Avengers stood utterly surprised by what is being held here. Modern Sonic and Infamous Iron Man especially, as they both recognize this thing from an encounter some time ago in their respective timelines.

"Isn't that…?" questioned Sonic.

"Xeno the Guardian?" Doom recognized the colossal cosmic being as the golden Super Celestial that he once tried to use to conquer the world. Last time he saw it was destroyed and scattered into pieces across the universe by the Freedom Fighters and Fantastic Four. Now it has been rebuilt, remodeled, and nearing full power by Cia's Tokizoid robots.

Fury answers them with, "Nice, right? Cia pulled its pieces out of mothballs of the universe with a little help from yours truly. It's just been vacuumed, so don't make a mess."

"Fury, you son of a bitch." Steve smiled.

"Oooho, you kiss your mother with that mouth?" Fury quipped.

With a clenched fist of hope and determination, Silver smiles at their newest weapon vowing, "Please wait for us, Cia. I know you're still alive. We're going to save you. We…The Avengers will…!" He promised, as the Avengers aboard the Celestial to go and defeat Solaris, save Cia, and the world she loved.

BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) OST-Extras

KFX Here: Talk about a breather chapter, if you count this as one! This has been building up since Total Mayhem, and now, Solaris descends into the United Heroes Universe! The multi-parter finale is right around the corner. Regarding the return of the Super Celestial from Shadow of Doom, I simply got the idea from the Avengers currently using a dead Celestial as their base in the comics.
