"You want to know what seniors are dealing with in 1993? You already know... it's the tale of the unrequited love. And I'm guessing that even in 20 or 30 years from now, it will still be prevalent in high schools... Why do guys only want you once you've moved on?!"
"Oh my god!" Hannah gasped as she looked up at the TV screen in the school hall, "That's my mother!"
"What?" Delilah's eyes widened, "Wow, Hannah! She's the same age as you here!"
"It's the time capsules!" Hannah whispered to herself, "I gotta go!" She ran off.
"I don't know what to expect during my senior year. But... a lot of things have fallen into place for me... I'm just happy. My dad's back... feels like we got a second chance."
"That's my dad!" James looked up at the screen in the school hall. Pamela raised an eyebrow
"You're dad was a hunk." She teased, "What is this?"
"I don't know..." James shook his head
"I got the girl I've always wanted." Dylan continued on the screen, "And... I get nervous around her." He chuckled, "And it's me, we're talking about! But... there's this electricity when I'm around her. I'm falling for her... hard. Can't tell her that, though. She already has too much power. She drives me wild." He pondered on that thought. "You know, you read about that kind of passion, but you don't think it exists. But with her... I don't know... I can't get enough of her."
"Didn't you say your parents were high school sweethearts?" Daniel now stood behind James.
"I'm in love with my best friend." Donna beamed, "David and I are closer than ever. I"m so happy we might get the chance to graduate together!"
"Looks like yours were too." James gestured back over to the screen
"But you know what teenagers are up against... it's sex. I want to wait until marriage. But it's tough... It's not always that simple when feelings are involved." Donna continued
"What is going on?!" Mrs Teasley scolded the AV club
"I don't know!" Cory Herbert Little exclaimed, "We can't get into the AV class! The door's locked and Zach said the key has been stolen!"
"I'm so sorry!" Freshmen Zach Reynolds pleaded.
"Cameron!" Hannah snapped once she found him, "You were the only other person who knew about those time capsules. Did you have something to do with this?"
"Of course not!"
"So you don't know who stole the key to the AV club or who leaked the time capsules?" She interrogated and he shook his head.
"I don't know what the hell is going on!"
"Oh I'm making my mark senior year! I know I'm going to be successful... Even if I have to find the back door in." Steve joked, "People are gonna know I was here. I'm building a legacy!
"You're dad is so cool!" An onlooker grinned, squeezing Pamela's arm as she passed her in the hall.
"It's been a tough year. But I'm trying to look at the bright side these days. I've got Donna, who's always been a beacon of hope for me... Jackie, who took me in even after the divorce... and I got 2 sisters out of it. So things are looking up. Becoming a brother to little Erin, makes me want to do better and be better, write music that means something, and work hard to graduate early with my friends."
"Aw, uncle David!" Pamela hugged her cousin
"Did you know grandma and granddad got divorced?" Delilah was astonished by the news as she watched her father on the screen.
"Yeah, that was weird." Pamela looked puzzled
"Well they seem happier than ever right now..." Delilah sighed
"You never know with the history of this town." Pamela rolled her eyes.
"I've gotten myself into quite a few messes this year. Me, the boy scout... I don't know. I guess I lost my way a little bit. Let me tell you... don't get carried away with girls or gambling... you end up digging yourself a hole." Brandon sighed
"That's my uncle Brandon. Whoa... guess the apple doesn't fall from the tree." James breathed out
"What do you mean?" Daniel asked
"Nothing... it's just - my cousin. He's been having a hard time with stuff like that too... my uncle has pretty high standards."
"The problem with this town is that everyone's stuck in their heads. They act like your mistakes define you, but they don't. I'm learning that now... I am madly in love with a boy who helped me realize I am so much more than what they say..." Kelly smiled to herself, "So, if there's anything I hope for future generations it's this... find someone whose love brings you to life and I hope that girls take control of their own sexuality. No matter how many boys try to violate you or put you in a box. And finally, I hope I'm still having fun!" Kelly chuckled, waving her arms in the air. She got up and hiked up her skirt to flash the camera.
"Mum!" Pamela gasped
"Turn it off!" Mrs Teasley said sternly as the faculty all ran to turn the power off.
Finally the power was cut. Pamela ran out to the quad to get away from the embarrassment. Delilah followed her.
"Hey! It's okay..." Her cousin consoled, "It's not a big deal."
"She... was wild." Pamela scoffed, "God... what a hypocrite."
"Don't be so hard on your mother... everyone has baggage."
"Exactly, Del. That's exactly it. Everyone does. Yet she won't ever loosen the reigns a little for me... and now we come to see that she herself went through the same judgment that she's putting me through!"
"Maybe she's just trying to protect you..."
"Come here." James purred once Pamela joined him at his locker and fell into his arms
"Ugh this sucks." She groaned
"It'll be alright. Your parents were funny." He smirked
"I don't know who that woman was." She shook her head
Just then the screen popped back on and everyone looked up at it
"I know who this one is." James looked up at the screen, eyes widened.
"Senior year?" Brenda scoffed, "I don't know what to expect but... If I leave this town tomorrow it wouldn't be soon enough!"
"Don't leave to Paris, girls. Because the minute you do, your boyfriend will be sneaking around behind your back and chasing after your best friend. Can you believe that? No matter how much you give, no matter how much you love, what you get in return is being lied to and cheated on! And even after all that... you forgive. Because that's what Jesus would freakin' do! And you know what happens...?"
Brenda shook her head angrily. "He looks you in the eye and tells you that he's in love with her and he wants to be with her. And then they run off together. So no... I don't know where I'll be from here on out. But I do know one thing... Kelly and Dylan are dead to me."
