All I see is you lately
Wide awake and in my dreams
I see your face so vividly
I don't know what I'd do, baby
If you only saw a friend in me
I'd be bittersweet.
Even if I could, I wouldn't turn on you
I would stop the world for you, you know
I want to let you know
I'll never let this feeling go
This love has no ceiling
I cannot deny
"What are you doing here?" James asked as he and Pamela broke apart.
"I was just about to ask you the same thing!" Dylan snapped
"Look... I'm sorry." James began, "I didn't mean to go behind your back."
"If that's true, we wouldn't be here." Dylan folded his arms, "You lied to me and your mother."
"I know." James looked down at the floor.
"Pam," Kelly wandered over to her daughter, "Pack your bags, let's go." Pamela was silent, but obliged.
"You too." Dylan nodded over to his son, "You're grounded."
"Hang on a second!" James interjected, "I know I what I did was wrong. But can't we talk about this? Don't you think you were a little unreasonable?"
"Unreasonable?" Dylan's started to get angry
"Yes!" James insisted, "I just wanted to go away with my girlfriend for the weekend. Jeez, what is the big deal?"
"What's the big deal?" Dylan hissed "I told you this was a mistake. I did not say go away for the weekend!"
"Why are you so against us?" James got irritated now.
Kelly and Pamela stood there awkwardly as Dylan and James began to argue. Kelly began helping Pamela pack her bag.
"I have my reasons." Dylan held his hand up to gesture that he had had enough of this conversation, but James wouldn't budge.
"Don't I have a right to know them?" James folded his arms
"No." Dylan growled, "After what you just pulled, you don't have any rights. Now pack your bag!"
"Give me one good reason why I couldn't come up here. That's all. One damn reason." James spat
"James!" Dylan yelled, "Watch your language."
"One reason!" James was not backing down.
"Because you both share a brother!" Dylan blurted it out in a rage. He hadn't realized what he had said until the words had already come out.
Kelly looked over to Dylan, eyes widened. A "How could you just do that?" glare. James' jaw dropped and Pamela dropped her bag on the floor.
"...What?" Pamela finally managed to speak.
Dylan let out a deep breath, "Kelly and I had a kid, about a year before you were born. He was adopted and now he's here."
"Are you kidding me?" James cried
"His name's Cameron." Kelly spoke, almost whispering "He goes to your school."
"Cameron?!" James and Pamela said in unison. Both of them had shock smeared across their faces.
"I can't believe this." Pamela shook her head and slowly sat down on the bed.
"I'm sorry." Kelly turned to the kids.
"We'll talk about it at home." Dylan's tone was calmer after the outburst. "Let's just get in the car."
"But.." James rubbed his face. "I have Tommy's car."
"Fine." Dylan sighed, "Kel, you drive my car back. Jim, we'll drive his car back." He threw the keys to the Porsche over to Kelly. She and Pamela grabbed her stuff and began to head out.
"Call me." Pamela whispered as she said goodbye to James. He nodded. Kelly waved goodbye to Dylan and James.
Once they had left. Dylan and James silently got into Tommy's car. Dylan drove while James sat in the passenger seat, twiddling his thumbs.
"You could have told me." James finally let out
"I was waiting for the right time. I had just found out myself." Dylan replied
"Well... It explains why you got so weird about me and Pam."
"Look..." Dylan sighed, "I'm sorry you had to find out this way. And I know it's going to be tough for you. But you still lied to me."
"I know." James nodded "I am sorry about that. I didn't feel good doing it. I just... I don't know. I wanted to be with her. And I didn't get why you were suddenly so strict."
"Well, I'm sorry son, but whether you agree with my decision or not, you better not pull anything like this again."
"I won't."
"And that also means, you cool it with Pam." Dylan added
"Seriously?" James looked up
"Look," Dylan began before his son could go off again. "You're going to your grandparents soon. I think you should take this time to get some distance. Reevaluate your situation."
"How are you feeling?" Kelly asked as she drove Dylan's car back to Beverly Hills.
"Shocked. Worried. Traumatized." Pamela groaned, brushing her hair back with her fingers. "I mean, Cameron?" She let out an exasperated sigh. "...Why didn't you tell me?"
"You're recently a child of divorce. I wanted you to have some time to just enjoy your life."
"...I do appreciate you letting me go to Palm Springs." Pamela paused, "But... you gave a kid up for adoption. How old were you even?"
"20." Kelly sighed, "I just wanted to put it behind me. It was a rough time."
"There's just... so much about you that I don't know." Pamela looked down at the floor, she had never felt so lost and confused.
"I'd like to change that." Kelly glanced at her
"Mum..." Pamela shook her head, "You had 16 years to do that. I don't even know what to do with all this. What does this mean? Is Cameron now going to come over for dinner? Can I still be with James?"
"Pam... can we please just take it one step at a time?"
"How? James' dad has made it clear how he feels about us."
"Forget what Dylan thinks. Look, if you want to be with James, I don't care. It's not like you're related to him!"
In that moment Pamela turned to face her mother. Surprised by her change in attitude. Her mother did seem different. More open, more positive. Whatever it was, Pamela liked it as this was probably the most comforting thing her mother had ever said to her.
"You know, you've made some mistakes but... you're not all bad." Pamela smiled
"Oh thanks." Kelly replied sarcastically, before laughing.
Kelly parked outside Dylan's house. Pamela stayed in the car while Kelly went up and rang the doorbell. Brenda opened it
"Hi." Kelly breathed out, handing the keys over.
"...Thanks." Brenda took them.
"Dylan should be back by now. They left shortly after us." Kelly began rambling on nervously
"I know. He called me." Brenda replied
"Oh okay." Kelly nodded, "I... I only went with him because he was so angry about the whole sneaking around thing. He was so-."
"Kelly." Brenda stopped her.
"What?"
"Please. Don't talk to me about my husband again." Brenda said quietly. "Thanks for the keys." She said before closing the door. Kelly stood there and let out a deep breath.
At school, James spotted Cameron in the quad. He decided to go over there, not really giving it much thought about what he could possibly say.
"Hi." James said hovering over him.
"Hi." Cameron looked up.
"Mind if I join you?" James asked and Cameron nodded. James sat down beside him
"Guess you found out." Cameron sighed, making things a little easier.
"Yeah." James scoffed, "The news hasn't really settled."
"Well, you don't have to worry. I'm not coming round for supper any time soon."
"Oh." James paused, "I didn't mean... Look." He rubbed his forehead, "If you want to get to know my dad, don't let me stop you."
Cameron looked over at him
"I mean... This whole thing... as messed up as it is, it isn't your fault." James said sympathetically
"I can't." Cameron shook his head, "My parents... they're not comfortable with it. It's not a good idea anyway."
"It's not really up to them. It's your choice." James affirmed
"Hmm... thanks for the uh-"
"Brotherly advice?" James joked and they both chuckled.
"...What are they like? Dylan and Kelly." Cameron asked after a beat
"Well..." James sighed, "According to Pam, Kelly's a Beverly Hills trophy wife." He laughed, but then paused, "Honestly? I don't know her very well but I think... Well, she's really kind and... warm when she smiles. I think she's been through a lot."
"And your dad?" Cameron asked
"Growing up I thought he was the best guy in the world... Now," He cleared his throat, "I don't know what's going on with him. My mum says he's just readjusting to Beverly Hills, but I think there's a lot going on that he's not telling me. He's gotten a little high strung. Doesn't want me and Pam to see each other anymore."
"Well.. take your own advice. It's not up to him." Cameron said warmly. James smiled but shortly after, his smile dropped.
"I don't know. Maybe he's right. I mean, can you go on after this? Pretending you don't share a half brother." James chuckled anxiously, "What would you do?"
"I don't know... Do you love her?" Cameron asked
"...We've never actually said that." James fidgeted
"Well, do you?" Cameron urged
"...Yeah." James pondered on that thought
"Well, I guess it all depends on how you feel about the girl." Cameron smiled.
"Hello?" Kelly answered her phone to find Dylan on the other end
"Thought it was safer to call while the kids are at school." He joked
"Yeah..." Kelly nodded
"Listen..." Dylan began, "I was thinking... just because Cameron isn't ready to be a part of our lives, doesn't mean we should stop seeing each other."
"I don't know..." Kelly paused. It was easy talking to Dylan when they were focused on Cameron. He was the distraction they needed to talk normally. But without this diversion, them being alone in a room was hardly a good idea. Kelly knew only two things could come of this: Either they'll fall into their physical habit or they'd fight as they tried to ignore their past. Either way, if there's no Cameron situation to distract them, they really shouldn't be hanging out.
"Kel?" Dylan called out as he hadn't heard anything on the other end of the line
"Dylan, I've gotta go." She hung up before he could say anything else.
"Hey!" Pamela made her way over to James who was at his locker.
"Hey." He replied. She reached up for a kiss but he turned away.
"What's wrong?" She asked
"Pam... I told you, let's just pace ourselves." He struggled to say the words
"Oh." Pamela took a step back, "So this is about what your dad said." She folded her arms, trying not to get upset.
"Look..." He said softly, "He doesn't want us seeing each other, so let's not advertise, alright?"
"He doesn't have to know."
"Pam, I don't want to sneak around. Look what happened at Palm Springs."
"So, that's it?" She scoffed, "Are you breaking up with me?"
"No." He assured, stroking her arm, "Please don't take it the wrong way. I just think we need to get some distance, you know. Figure this whole thing out."
"Listen to me." Pamela insisted, "I don't care about the whole sharing a brother thing. My mum doesn't either. And your dad is not in this relationship, so it all comes down to what you think."
"Pam..." James sighed, closing his eyes for a second, "Please just give me some time to think. I'm going to Minnesota for the summer. Things are so complicated, I just... I think... If we can get some distance, we'll work things out."
"Do you believe that?" She asked, "A summer apart will change the fact that we share a brother?" She rolled her eyes
"I think some time and space will be good for us, for the whole situation." James hated how upset Pamela was. She tried fighting back tears.
"What does this mean? Will you call me? Will we still talk?"
"Of course." He pulled her towards him and kissed her forehead.
"You just hung up?" Donna asked. Kelly had gone to meet her at the store.
"It's just been weird again. We were so preoccupied with Cameron and the adoption drama that for a moment we didn't think about us. But now we have nothing to talk about. There's all this tension again... I just don't think it's good for me or him." Kelly paced around.
"I agree. You're clearly not over the whole thing." Donna nodded, while folding scarves.
"And Brenda's already suspicious."
"Why?" Donna looked up at her.
"I may have... accidentally... revealed that I still have feelings for Dylan." Kelly bit her lip
Falling into you, baby
Even electricity can't compare to what I feel
When I'm with you, baby.
Giving up my ghost for you
And now I'm see-through.
You give me a feeling so strong
I know that you've been treating yourself wrong
So let me care for you, baby
I will love you differently
I'll give you electricity
