Give Me Love - Part I

Give me love like her

'Cause lately I've been waking up alone

Paint splattered teardrops on my shirt

Told you I'd let them go.

"I know what's going on Dylan." Iris said sternly.

"No you don't." Dylan groaned, tilting his head back.

"It's her, isn't it?" Iris observed him as he refused to look at her. "I knew being back in Beverly Hills would be a problem." She huffed and began to pace around the living room.

"Iris..." He began but she was busy circling the coffee table.

"You never learn..." She shook her head

Dylan finally got up and looked her in the eye, "You don't know what you're talking about."

"No? What were you writing about?" She finally stopped pacing and folded her arms.

"Nothing." He said firmly, his hands in his pockets.

"Have you seen Kelly?" She pestered. He looked at the floor and let out an exasperated sigh to which she shook her head again in disappointment.

"...You have a beautiful wife. A beautiful son. You have a beautiful family... " She paused, "You're going to mess it up. God, you are just like-"

"-like what?" He interjected "Like Jack? That's what you wanted to say, right? We're still there, you're always gonna dump his mistakes on me?"

"Well, you're acting just like him." She pointed out

"And you remind me all the time." He sneered

"Well, what do you expect? Chasing after some blonde, just like Jack." She threw her hands up in the air hopelessly. They both were silent, not making eye contact. After a beat, she finally turned to face him again "...You're having an affair, aren't you?"

Dylan's eyes met his mother's and he inhaled deeply, "...I have a kid. Kelly was pregnant when I left."

"A kid?" Iris' eyes widened

"Yeah. And she called you, looking for me to tell me. Why didn't I get that message?" He now folded his arms

"What?" Iris crinkled her forehead

"She said she tried to find me." Dylan's tone was low and firm.

"Yes but Dylan, I can assure you, she never mentioned she might be carrying your child!" Iris thought it was ridiculous to even assume as much.

"Still why didn't you tell me she called?" Dylan continued to probe. "...You didn't want me to know." He finally drawled and Iris shot him a look.

"Don't try to accuse me, Dylan. You are the reason it all happened that way. It was your decision to get drunk and call that hooker. It was your decision to walk away from her for good."

"You should have told me she called!" Dylan growled

"Do you not remember the terrible state you were in when you left? I could barely get a hold of you. You were a drunken mess in Paris. You only called to let me know you were still alive albeit barely. Did you think I was going to mention Kelly's name when you were struggling? Hell for all I knew, she just wanted to know where you were and if you were breathing." Iris warned

"I had a right to know. She gave that kid up for adoption because I didn't come back." Dylan turned away from her.

"Before you blame me, Dylan, just take some responsibility. You resented me and your father for the environment you grew up in. Well, what you're doing with Kelly, what you're doing with Brenda... Think about the impact it will have on your son, and then ask yourself this: Does James' life really differ from yours?

"Listen... " Donna began, turning to face her husband one night in bed "I'm happy about everything with Erin but I'm not so sure partnering up with Dylan is a good idea."

"Where is this coming from? You said it would be great, that After Dark is right up his alley." David seemed confused

"Yeah but that was before..." Donna mumbled

"Before what?" David turned to face her.

"Before I thought it through. Don't you think this might affect Kelly?"

"He's been here over a year... I think she can handle it." David chuckled

"This is different." Donna shook her head, "Now the Cameron stuff is out, it's opening a lot of wounds. I don't know how good it would be for her to have Dylan working so close with the family."

"I'm sure it's not a problem." David shrugged it off.

"David..." Donna urged

"What?" David groaned, "Donna, you need to relax. Everyone is fine. It's not like Dylan abandoned her and the kid. He didn't know. It was Jackie's idea to keep this from Dylan, and despite her resistance, Kelly eventually obliged."

"Kelly was scared." Donna corrected

"Well, you, Steve and I tried to reach him for her and we couldn't. But that's no one's fault. And look it all worked out. Dylan's sober, Kelly got to know Cameron, and now Steve's getting married."

"That's another thing. I love Steve, he's family... but to host his and Janet's joint bachelor/bachelorette party at After Dark is a little much don't you think? Kelly's going to attend her ex husband's bachelor party at her brother's place that he now shares with her ex boyfriend?" Donna reasoned

"You are way too over protective." David laughed, "Kelly is fine. She's with Mark. There's no bad blood." David kissed Donna's forehead and rolled over to go to sleep.

"I don't know..." Donna mumbled under her breath.

Pamela was sitting on a stool at the kitchen counter while Kelly prepared dinner.

"Isn't that, like, weird?" Pamela said while looking at her dad's bachelor party invite. "Shouldn't Janet have a separate party?"

"Well, maybe they want to be together. You know, the older you get, the less you want to mess about with frivolousness." Kelly shrugged, looking over at her daughter. "Besides, if it was an actual bachelor party, you wouldn't be invited." She teased.

Pamela rolled her eyes and grinned. "Well, as long as dad's happy I guess." Pamela sighed as she placed the invitation back on the counter. Kelly glanced at her daughter once more.

"What about you? You okay with seeing James and Tommy there?" She asked

"Not really but... At least James and I have made some verbal contact." Pamela pursed her lips. She then began to ponder again. "...It doesn't weird you out at all? Going to celebrate dad committing to someone else."

"Not at all." Kelly assured. That commitment isn't the problem, she thought.

Her thoughts were interrupted by her phone buzzing. She pulled it out of her pocket and glanced at the screen.

1 unread message.

She discreetly opened it.

Ready to talk to me yet?

-Dylan

Kelly shoved the phone back in her pocket. It had been 5 days since he hung up on her. She thought it was for the best. She said she was done and she meant it. She felt relieved only Donna had found out about them before it got out of hand. The best thing she could do now is ignore him until he eventually goes away.

Ignoring him wasn't so easy when the day came for Steve and Janet's joint bachelor party. As Kelly headed into After Dark with Mark, the first thing she saw when she arrived was Dylan and Brenda dancing together in the middle of the dance floor. Her heart sank to her stomach in that moment. Perhaps it would be harder than she thought. They looked so happy. Kelly couldn't help but feel envious. He was twirling Brenda around, the way he once did with her. As they continued to goof around, Kelly quickly turned to Mark.

"Drink?" She suggested and he nodded. They made their way over to the bar.

Mark excused himself to go to the bathroom. In that moment Donna came over and pulled Kelly aside to chat

"You okay?" She asked

"Yeah." Kelly put on a brave face.

"I'm sure it's not easy." Donna empathized. "A week ago he's coming out of a hotel with you, now he's dancing with his wife like nothing happened."

"Yeah well... It's Dylan's world, we're all just living in it." Kelly couldn't hide the bitterness in her voice. Donna turned to face her.

"You ended it right?" She eyed her closely

"Yes, Donna." Kelly's frustration was obvious

"Good." Donna exhaled, "It's the right thing to do. Given what's just happened, it's probably best to stay away completely."

Kelly scoffed at that remark before taking a sip of the cocktail the bartender just handed her.

"What?" Donna called her out

"Nothing." Kelly shrugged it off.

"No, tell me." Donna urged. "What is it?"

Kelly sighed, "It's just... Nothing." Kelly spotted Mark coming back from the bathroom and walked over to him, leaving Donna speechless.

Mark took Kelly to dance, which was probably the only enjoyable thing about this party so far. Dylan was now at the table with Brenda, Brandon and Valerie, but he couldn't keep his eyes off Kelly. Luckily no one noticed, except Kelly. She began to tense up, growing annoyed as his eyes burned a hole on the back of her head. She did her best to brush it off and stay present with Mark who held her tightly. Unbeknownst to her, he was happy to rub it in Dylan's face.

Tommy made his way over to James who was sitting at the table beside his parents' table. James fiddling with a napkin as Tommy stood before him.

"Hey..." Tommy began. But James remained silent, his eyes on the napkin. This caused Tommy to exhale loudly.

"Still not talking to me?" Tommy groaned

James finally looked up at him, "Now's not the time." He drawled

"Come on, Jim. You have to talk to me eventually." Tommy bent down but James didn't bat an eyelid. Tommy then pulled up the chair in front of him and sat down. "Look I get it, okay?" He said sternly, "I fell in love with Pam over the summer and I'm sorry. But at some point you're going to have to let it go. We're family, so deal with it." Tommy looked him dead in the eyes. James' eyes were glued to the table. Thomas then let out a huff before getting up and heading off.

James finally looked up and observed Thomas as he walked away.

After a good 10 minutes of dancing, Kelly was heading over to the bathroom to freshen up. Her fingers ran through her hair to lift it off her neck. Just as she had escaped the crowds, Dylan grabbed her hand.

"Come here." He whispered and dragged her to the storage room.

"What are you doing?" She snapped, pulling away from him once they were inside.

"We need to talk." He said firmly, closing the door behind them.

We'll play hide and seek to turn this around

All I want is the taste that your lips allow
