They don't get to see each other much after Beltane. Tally's training picks up more and Sarah has various meetings so there isn't much time to see each other. Plus, everyone is talking about how they saw Tally and Alder leave together during Beltane and Tally is trying her best to ignore everyone.
She's not exactly sure how Sarah wants her to go about handling this but she's trying to be mature about the whole situation. So she says nothing, just lets them talk and ignores it the best she can. But she misses her so much. She didn't think she'd be able to miss someone as much as she misses Sarah.
It's going on two weeks now and break is coming up and Tally wants to ask Sarah if she has any plans or if she should stay on base at all or go home with Raelle or Abigail for the break. Tally knows they've both been busy and she should be more mature about this but she can't help but let out a sigh from her bed as she stares at the ceiling.
She decides to just go for it, she gets up and grabs her jacket and throws her boots on but as she opens the door she's met with Sarah about to knock on the door.
"Sarah, what are you doing here? I was just about to go see you."
"I'm sorry it's taken me so long to come see you, as you can imagine I've been busy. But I also wanted to make sure I didn't distract you from your training, I knew this was a pertinent week for you. You're about to start war college. But I wanted to see if you'd like to have a late dinner with me? Or rather you can eat and I'll drink," Sarah tries to be funny and Tally just frowns at her poor attempt at joking but nods.
"Sure, I'd love that. I actually skipped dinner earlier. I mean I was just leaving to come see you anyways. I've missed you."
Sarah takes a step closer as the biddies are the only ones around, "And I you. Shall we?"
Tally smiles and nods as she steps out into the hall closing the door, giving a tiny wave to all the biddies behind them.
Once they've made it to Alder's office and the biddies dispersed to their quarters Sarah pours herself a drink and nods to the still hot bowl of stew waiting for Tally to consume it.
"You didn't have to do this."
"I wanted to. I heard you had skipped dinner. I've been keeping tabs on you, darling," Sarah scoops the bowl up and hands it to Tally and motions for her to join her on the couch.
Tally takes one bite of the stew and tears start streaming down her cheeks, "I'm sorry, I don't know why I'm crying."
Sarah scoots closer and brushes some of her tears away, "No need to apologize. I hear a full stomach can do wonders, so eat up."
Tally only nods and digs into her bowl of yummy stew as the tears keep coming, every so often sniffling and Sarah wipes a few tears away. When the bowl is completely empty and Tally is all cried out she finds her head resting in Sarah's lap as the older woman plays with her hair.
"Did you have plans for the break?"
Tally shrugs, "Not really, I mean Raelle and Abigail invited me to go to their places for the break but I'd rather be with you. Unless you're still busy then I could go with one of them."
"Things will slow down for a little bit over the break, hopefully. I should be free. If you want to spend your break with me. You don't have to. You can spend it with your unit if you'd like."
The redhead turned her face into the older woman's stomach and inhaled her smell of cloves, "No, I really want to stay with you, I've missed you. I was starting to think that maybe I did something wrong. And with everyone talking about us I thought you might be keeping your distance."
Sarah brushes her hair aside and places a kiss on her witchmark, "Not at all, you did nothing wrong. I'm sorry I should've reached out. As for what others may be saying I don't really care what they say as long as it doesn't bother you. I'm not ashamed of you. I only worry for your safety."
Tally nods sleepily as she snuggles into her stomach and Sarah smiles at out quickly they have changed each other. So much for trying to keep her distance, that went straight out the window.
"How would you like to stay the night, hmm?"
Tally lets out a yawn and mumbles, "But the others might get worried when they find me gone."
"You need not worry, I already explained to them that this might happen. They're the ones who told me you hadn't eaten."
Tally is suddenly very awake, "Wow, this is embarrassing. I can't believe they did that."
"Don't be upset with them, like I said earlier, I only wanted to check to make sure you were doing alright."
"You could've asked me, you wouldn't have been bothering me, I really wanted to see you," Tally mumbled into her stomach with a huff.
"I'm sorry, next time, I promise. So would you like to stay or you can go back to your quarters? You're free to do whatever you like."
Tally looks up at her with those innocent eyes of hers, "Can I stay with you tonight? After waking up in your arms last time I haven't been able to sleep the same. I think you did ruin me in the best way. But right now I just want to feel close."
"Of course, whatever you want darling."
Sarah leads her to her room and hands her a pair of pajamas which Tally soon realizes are her own that Raelle or Abigail must've snuck out to the general while she was away, Tally needs to have a conversation with Sarah about using her unit as her watch dogs. But for now she just wants to sleep in her arms.
When Tally comes out she finds Sarah in a nightgown, "Oh, my goddess, Sarah what are you wearing?"
Sarah looks down confused, "These are my pajamas."
Tally laughs, "Sarah you look like you're from the olden days," Tally thinks about what she just said, "I mean never mind. You should update your wardrobe."
Sarah sees no problem with what she's wearing but nods nonetheless as she turns out the light and the two get into her little bed, Tally sighing with relief as she wraps herself around the older woman. Content for the first time since Beltane, perhaps she can finally get a decent night's sleep. Although she doesn't realize that Sarah has been needing this just as much as she has been.
So they both fall asleep content in the feeling of being wrapped up in each other, everything else can wait for the morning.
