When Niffty saw her husband kissing Rosie, her world shattered she used her fast pace as advantage and without packin a thing left Alastor's palace. she was boiling with jealousy, and wanted to strangle that bitch. But this wasn't the worst part. Deep down, she knew she was never as smart as him, but in her worst nightmares would she expect him to be treated like this in her own home. How dare he say those things, and even worse behind her back?!
She would still be able to hear his yelling after her, through all radios on the street. She needed a place away from him and fast. The day was about to end and night was no time for such a small demon like herself. She didn't like to admit it, but all the snobs were right about one thing - she was weak.
She knew that she can't just go spend the night in Happy Hotel, this would be the first place where that stag would go. She took a few steps and entered a random bar. She had never been there before, this was not one of those high society places Al was dragging her in for the past two years for no reason.
In the past when she was alive the fanciest place he would ask her out would be a simple dinner or the cinema (and only if she or Daria wanted to see something) if they even left the house at all. What was so wrong with that? She missed the days when their private life was, well, private. Now it was like he was trying to show her off to all the demons of his status.
She knew from Alastor himself, that he put a paragraph in their deal, to make her as young as she was when they met for the first time no matter at what age she would eventually die. Back then she was under the impression that it was a romantic gesture. Now she wasn't so sure if he didn't just want his eye candy. An mencing thought enter her mind:
"But you know men, sis. They see a cute face and will turn whore into a princess just to prove they have cash!"
She didn't like to reminded herself about that stupid succubus back in Rosie's Emporium.
- Bartender! Give me tequila~! - She hissed.
- Hey, baby. - She heard some demon voice. The huge guy purred and sat down next to her.
Niffty looked at a massive dude. Great, just what she needed right now, some obnoxious flirting.
- How about I pay for this drink, girl?
- Give me a break. - She rolled her eye. - You think I can't afford…
Fuck, she left all her cash in home. And no way she was going back there. She looked at the glass the bartender gave her.
- Um… turns out I have to return it.
- Are you joking, missy? - The imp behind the bar growled at her. - Take that's guy offer or fuck off.
- Yeah, let's have fun. - he put his arm around her. - Let's have a quick drink, and we go to my place?
- No. - She was starting to get up when the guy stood up, blocked her way out and lifted her chin. She would admit, she was never tall, and ended up even smoller as a demon, and the evil spirit on her way was about 9 ft tall.
- Come on. - He gave the bartender a few bucks for the drink and put glass in her mouth. - Now you owe me a blow job.
She was trying to get out of his grasp, but he was damn strong. Then she heard yet another voice.
- Stop! All of you!
Oh, great another knight ready to "rescue" her. She really felt more and more helpless.
Cyclops observed with slight irritation as a snake demon entered the bar and throwed a bomb at the creep. She felt grateful for help, but this only made her seem like an even bigger damsel in distress.
Still, it would be impolite to not at least thank the serpent. She looked at the hole in the wall he made. To her surprise he already left without giving her a glimpse.
She run after him.
- Thank you.
Now she got his attention. Snake looked at Niffty with confusion.
- The Hell are you...?
Now she doesn't understand.
- Hello, you just helped me? Back in the bar. - She waved her hand.
- I did? - He rubbed his forehead. He was just testing his new grenades. He had no interest in helping anybody there.
The snake man looked down at her. He deducted she must be one of the lower demons if she was hanging out in a shithole like that bar. And apparently he rescued her, Lucifer knows from what. He sure didn't know.
But, he couldn't frown upon occasions like this one. Even small demons had some soul energy. If he plays it correctly he could make a deal with a grateful lady and take it. For the looks of it, she wouldn't be in Hell long enough to sell it to anybody else. She also didn't seem to be that smart if she just followed a stranger like him. This will be like taking candy from a baby.
- Ah, yes! Of course, my little lady. - He stated. - I didn't recognize you at first. Of course, let me introduce myself, I'm Sir Pentious.
Niffty raised her brow. The change of tone could mean one thing, and she knew exactly what. He was planning to make a deal with her already. The moon was fully visible in the sky, meaning she would have no shelter for the night. Maybe playing dumb was the best option, after all. It's not like she had a soul to sell.
- Oh, yes! - She started her quick speaking thing. - Right, I'm Niffty! - She introduced herself. - I'm so, so, thankful sir! You're my hero! So strong and handsome! I would do anything for you! - Should she add that? That serpent seemed to be pleased by her cheap compliment. But at the same time she didn't want him to think she liked to go to bed with him to show her gratitude. - But you see, I don't have money to pay you for your good deed, sir...
She pretended to be really shy out by that "realisation". Subtelly, so he didn't notice she splashed some mud on his coat. Then she instantly cheered with a burst of energy.
- I know, I will stay with you as a maid! Oh, that coat just begs for cleaning! - She touched his black outfit.
- Wha…? - Sir Pentious' head spinned. That little demon was such a fast talker and she was circling around him with the speed of light. Even his egg bois weren't that hyperactive. - Maid? Well, I could use a new housekeeper, but… - He looked at his coat, it did have some splashes… how could he go out with that dirty thing?
Good, he took a bite. She knew she had to confuse him even more.
- Oh, splending, splending! - She did a little twirl around him. - I'm just the demon right for the job! I will show you all I can do, just let me stay for the night and I will keep your house clean! But I don't know… - She paused for a moment. - Don't you need something to assure you I won't steal anything?
Niffty pretended to be wondering what it could be.
- Like a contract? -He asked. Oh, so the demon was fresh enough to not know what the Hell deal was. What an easy target!
After taking a small demon home Sir Pentious figured that he needed a quick contract for a maid first, and he would warm her up to selling her soul later. That demoness looked positivly dumb so, there was no problem.
Niffty started cleaning to show that serpent her abilities. She knew exactly how to avoid promising him any big things in the first contract he proposed to her. Why, she even made it look like it was his idea to just let her stay with basically no strings attached. She insured in a few places that he would have to give her money and shelter for at least a month. From his perspective she made it look like she was a hopeless prisoner waiting for her doom. She had enough experience in deal making with her husband to know how to add some small details that seem like she was the victim. Back in the day they would have to be very cautious to not make their deals too profitable for her in the eyes of king Lucifer or else it would expose their scam.
And who knows, maybe she will end up liking it here?
Sir Pentious needed to admit that Niffty really knew what she was doing. After just an hour or two, the house was impeccably clean and there was a hot roast waiting in the oven.
- You got this job! - He shook her hand as he handed her a piece of paper.
She pretended not to read it at all, to not break the illusion, and took out a pen.
- You won't regret it, sir! - She chirped. - Now, if you excuse me, it was a long day, I need to clean myself and go to sleep. Where would be my room?
- You can take a guest room. - he answered. - and there is a shower - He showed her the way to the bathroom.
After the shower she entered her new bedroom. She took a fresh t-shirt that was left for her there, to sleep in for the night. Well, it's not like she had much of a choice, and she definitely gonna sleep naked in a stranger's apartment. It was a relatively small room, with a singular bed, a bedside cabinet, oil lamp, and radio. Ugh.
She was sure she didn't want to hear it, but she tuned to Alastor's station anyway. It was now playing one of her favorite songs.
Than the broadcaster interrupted the song and sated:
"And now top 10 reasons why I didn't do anything wrong!"
She threw it outside the window.
- Augh! - She heard some demon voices outside.
- Sorry! - She yelled, closing the curtains.
