Chapter 6
Adam knew they were coming back to the jet soon but was still shocked to see not only Faith but Sharon and Noah, too. He had an inkling, okay, a hope, that Sharon would choose to travel with her daughter rather than catch a commercial flight, but he wasn't prepared to see Noah tagging along.
Adam didn't think Noah hated him anymore, but he was sure that the kid thought he was bad news, especially where Sharon was concerned. He'd had a front row seat to much of their relationship and made his feelings about Adam's continued involvement in Sharon's life perfectly - and painfully - clear on numerous occasions. While Adam hoped that Noah would soften toward him given recent events, he wasn't holding his breath. When all he got was a curt, "Adam," in greeting as Noah passed by him to claim a seat, he knew he was right.
Adam turned his attention to Sharon and Faith. The young one didn't have any bags since she only came for a few hours, but Sharon did, so Adam, gentleman that he is, took them for her to store them in the overhead compartment near the exit. Damn if he didn't get another brush of electricity when their hands met. Would that ever stop?
They had to wait on the tarmac before taking off due to some severe flash thunderstorms moving through the area, but he was fine with that.
One plane crash in his life was one too many.
