Zoro looked over at Sanji. He was quiet, not that it was unusual, he just thought the cook would start talking his ear off or something. Maybe ask some more questions about anime that he has. He's been getting those recently.
"So how was work?" Zoro asks, trying to start a conversations with him. Maybe he should have just been quiet, there's nothing wrong with walking in silence with each other.
"Are you going to fall in love with Elliot and leave me?" Sanji asks out of the blew.
"What?" Zoro says stopping, looking at Sanji shocked. "Where'd that come from?" Sanji stop and steps in front of Zoro.
"Sorry, I know it's out of the blew and really insecure of me to ask, it's just... I really like you Zoro and I know I messed things up in the beginning and I'm trying to be better now but I see the way you and Elliot talk to each other. I just can't help but feel like there could be something more between you two." Sanji rubs his neck, this is humiliating. He didn't think it would affect him as much as it has.
Zoro got closer, he reached forward to hold Sanji's hand making the chef look at him. He then let go remembering they were in public, Sanji saw the way Zoro put his hands in his pocket. "I don't know what to do to not make you not feel like that and all I could tell you is that you have nothing to worry about, he's straight. Nothing will happen." Sanji laughs.
"I was straight remember." Sanji says.
"No, really he is."
"Zoro if I could change I'm sure he can too."
"No really, it won't happen." Zoro says but the look the blond is making Zoro knows he doesn't believe him. "Well, he did give me permission to tell you, so what I tell you you can't tell anyone else got it." Zoro gives Sanji a serious look. Sanji just nods, what will he be told? Did Zoro reject Elliot already? Sanji doesn't really want to hear that, they work together, he doesn't think he can handle that. "Elliot is trans. He was a girl. And as a girl he liked other girls."
"He was a lesbian?" Sanji asked just to make sure he heard right.
"Yes, but he didn't feel comfortable, didn't feel himself as a girl so he changed and now he likes who he is, still really like girls too. That's why it won't happen."
"Oh," Sanji looks down. "I understand now. Sorry for... this." Sanji looks up at Zoro, curly eyebrow pointing upward.
"It's ok, I understand. I feel the same towards you too. I'm afraid you'll text me one day and tell me it's over. I'm afraid you'll leave me for a girl, say that you made a mistake and you can't be with me anymore." Sanji could see the hurt, the worry that will happen in Zoro's eyes. It sounds cruel to do that to anyone but he knows it happens. It's happened to him but he doesn't plan to do that to Zoro. He's in this till the end, however long this last between them, till he dies or the world end before.
Sanji steps forward and gives the marimo a hug. "Thank you for understanding and for telling me." Sanji felt Zoro's hand slide up his back. His eyes widen and he jumps back. "Sorry! I said we would go slow." Sanji holds his hands up. Zoro gave the cook a whole hearted laugh and a smile that reached his eyes. Sanji couldn't help but think how it made the marimo look cute.
"Idiot." Zoro reached for Sanji's arm and pulled him closer. "A hug is ok at this point." Zoro wrapped his arm around the cooks neck while Sanji wrapped his arms around the marimo's lower back. "Thank you for listening." the marimo says in the cooks ear. Sanji smiled at this.
"Well this is new for both of us for different reason. I've never felt possessive and jealous before." Sanji says into the crook of the green haired man's neck and shoulder.
"You were jealous?" Zoro pull back to look at the cook's face, which became red and he avoided looking back in the marimo's eyes.
"Well, yeah, Elliot gets to work with you while you wore your uniform." The blonde says sheepishly.
"Well, then why don't I work at the Baratie instead?" Zoro teases.
"Really?" Sanji exclaims rather happily.
"No, I don't think that would be a good idea." Zoro says looking away shyly.
"Why not?"
"I don't think I would be able to work, I'd be too nervous to." Zoro looks away shyly.
"Why would you-? Oh?" Sanji says blushing. Sanji let out a deep breath as he buries his forehead into Zoro's shoulder. "I could kiss you right now," the blonde announces.
"Why don't you?" Sanji lift his head up so fast he almost got a headache.
"Is that..."
"I know you said you wanted to go slow, I do too but a hug and a kiss are things I'm ok with right now. Going all the way might take awhile for me but hopefully you're willing to wait." Sanji leaned forward, pressing his lips again Zoros', surprised by how soft and smooth they felt again his own. He felt tingles go down his spine and warmth spread through his body. He leaned back and gave Zoro a smile.
"I'm willing to wait to go all the way with you until you're ready." Zoro gives the cook a smile back, glad to hear that. "Oh, how about we make rules, or promises to each other." Sanji finally lets go of Zoro.
"Like what?" they start walking again.
"Well for the rules one could be we don't keep secret hidden from each other, if something is bothering you you could tell me."
"I could do that, as long as it works both ways."
"Sounds perfect, if something is bothering either one us we come clean about it. And for the promises, once you're ready to go all the way, tell me. Can you promise me that?" Sanji looks at Zoro.
"I promise." Zoro nods. Sanji looks over to Zoro and looked down to Zoro's hand as they walk and he recalled when Zoro held his hand for a second.
"Can I hold your hand?" the cook blurts out.
"What!? Are you ready for that?" Zoro shouts looking at him.
"Am I ready for that? What are you talking about?"
"Well, I don't mind but my hand... isn't small... or delicate... or... " Sanji watched the marimo stop walking to look at his hand, he was about to say a girl wasn't he? That's why he let go so abruptly, he wasn't sure if the cook was ready to hold a man's hand. He looked at the cook, "are you sure you're ok with that?"
"Zoro, I got it in my head that I'm dating you for almost two weeks now. I'm fine with a lot of things I didn't think I would be." Sanji reached forward to grab Zoro's hand. "If I wanted to kiss you I sure as hell would be okay with holding your hand." He gives the man a reassuring smile that this is okay, that he's fine with it. He feels Zoro squeeze his hand. "You're squeezing my hand." Sanji says as he pulls Zoro with him, continuing their walk.
"Sorry, I'm just nervous." Zoro lessens his grip.
"Why?"
"I've never held anyone hand before." Zoro blushes to his ears after realizing what he just announced.
"Never?"
"Only my family's. Especially when I was younger, they didn't want me to wander off and get lost. I've never held another person's hand." Sanji grins, he couldn't believe the marimo. He looked so innocent with that face of his. To think Sanji would be able to see it, so there are some things Zoro has never experienced.
Good to know.
