Sanji looked down at his watch. It's the afternoon of the day, it's been a week since they all saw Zoro. Sanji hasn't gotten a word from Zoro but he doesn't expect a word from his boyfriend. Though he did wish they could talk but this trip is one of the one trips he is having with his family after so long of isolation. Sanji looks over out the window of the cafe he sat at. The snow has been piling high since Zoro left. Especially during Chopper's birthday, it came down really hard that they got snowed in. He wonders when Zoro will be back.
"Sanji are you listening?" Nami asks taking a sip from her cup of tea. She looks back at the blonde who seems to be in a deep daze.
"Sorry, what did you say?" Sanji asks back looking at her then Robin.
"Has Zoro talked about the guy before?" She asks again.
"No, never." Sanji answers shaking his head.
"Has he talked about what happened to him before?" Robin asks.
"Not much just that he can't trust him. He did mention he had friends but I don't know what happened specifically." Sanji answers thinking about it. He remembers what Bonney had told him when Zoro got sick. He knew Zoro got bullied, then Ace brought Luffy into his life. Wait. Maybe he can help? Sanji scrambled his things together and takes his phone out and wallet out to pay. Nami and Robin look at each other then back at Sanji who is halfway out the door. Following in his footsteps they get their things together and follow him out the door into the snow.
"Sanji hold up!" Nami yells trying to catch up to Sanji who is sprinting down the street. "What has you sprinting down the street?!" she asks.
"I think I know who has answers." he says slowing down to let them catch up.
"You know someone?" Robin asks surprised. If he knew someone why didn't he ask earlier?
"I think."
"Think? So you don't know if they know?" Nami asks.
"No, it's just a hunch."
"Then who is it?"
"Ace."
"Ace, why would Luffy older brother know?" Nami asks, very confused about that conclusion.
"Because in middle school, Ace dated Zoro's older brother."
"What?" Nami can't believe that. Even Robin look shocked.
"In our first years of middle school Ace and Smoker would have been first or second years in high schoolers. They use to date, so maybe Smoker has told Ace about Zoro." Sanji thinks. He could be wrong. But it doesn't hurt to check. He takes out his phone and dial, waiting for the phone to be picked up. Sanji is glad when it is. "Hey Luffy is Ace there?" He asks. Nami and Robin just walk in silence still more knowing how to process what they just learned. "Good, keep him there. I want to asks him something." Sanji answers. "Sure only if you do what I asked." Sanji says. "See you in a bit." He ends the call.
Nami and Robin Follow in silence.
They follow him until they get to Luffy's house. They walk in until they see Ace sitting in the living room with Sabo setting a cup down. Ace looked back to them with a smile. He knew they were coming but didn't know why.
"Luffy said you asked for me, do you need something?" he asks reaching for his drink. Sabo stands, also curious about what they would want from Ace, especially since they have never wanted to talk to him, or ask him anything.
"Do you know what happened to Zoro in middle school?" Sanji asks with a seriousness the two adults have ever seen from the blonde. Ace pauses.
"Do you really want to know?" he asks back looking at the group of three. Luffy coming to sit down on the couch, watching them in silence. Sanji nods. "Fine but how do you know I know?"
"Bonney told me you use to date Smoker I just figured you might know." he answers.
"I have something that would be better to show than explain." Ace says getting up off the couch. As they wait for Ace the three sit down on the couch. Sabo gets them a cup of water.
"Do you know to?" Robin asks noticing Sabo's sad expression.
"Yes, I do. Sadly" he answers.
They stay silent again as they wait for Ace. Then he comes down, they were expecting him to come back with a box but his hands were empty. Ace goes to the TV and turns it on, then he does something that they couldn't see. Then they saw a flash drive, USB, in his hand.
"A video?" Sanji asks, very curious on why.
"Everything that happened to Zoro was recorded, I kept it just in case." Ace says.
He steps back away from the screen, sitting down on the couch. He presses play and they all turn to the screen.
The video starts with a group of middle schoolers laughing. A few seconds the group turned into a crowd. They noticed a familiar face, the man from a few weeks ago. The heads from the video turned around to focus on a younger Zoro. They saw Zoro looking up from his feet, stopping and looking confused at the crowd in front of him. "What's going on?" baby Zoro asks, he didn't seem to get that something is wrong. After seconds of silence it broke with a shout of something mean and something being thrown at him. It smacks Zoro in the head, it must have been something hard because Zoro fell on the ground holding his head in his hand. Then they get closer to him. They start crowding him, beating him. No one stopped even when he cried and begged for them to stop. The clips change from different perspective and they saw who they assume are grown up in the background not doing anything. They just stood around there not caring.
Zoro started to get silent the more he got hurt. Some instances they are able to see Zoro crying silently. He look so hurt and betrayed. They left Zoro there hurt and broken.
The next clip in the video shows the ground at night rather than the day that Zoro was in. The camera pans to the person next to the person holding the camera. "Smile. Come on." Ace says in the video, the others now realizing that the other man is Smoker. Of course he looks younger
"There You go again. Just because you tell me to smile then I won't." Smoker grumbles. Ace turns the camera around the slightly busy street.
"Then I'll make you laugh." They could hear Ace's grin. "Yesterday Luffy- hey is that Zoro?" Ace asks focusing the camera on a figure leaning against the wall.
"That's not a funny joke." Smoker says.
"No, it's Zoro look." Ace says going closer.
"Zoro!" Smoker yells. The figure looks up and it really is Zoro. His face is bruised and bloody.
"Smoker?" Zoro croaks, voice broken and timid.
"What happened?" he asks. Zoro just shakes his head and hugs Smoker, crying into his chest.
"Smoker, he's bleeding." Ace points to the ground to see a small pool of blood begin to form.
"Let's me check you." Smoker says trying to push Zoro out of his chest but Zoro holds onto him tighter and shaking his head again. "Zoro." Smoker calls his name firmly. Zoro finally lets go. Smoker checks him, expecting the bruises until he got to Zoro's ankles to see them cut badly. Smoker lets out a growl. "We need to get him to a hospital." Smoker says.
"No." Zoro says.
"Zoro, putting a bandaid isn't going to help." Smoker says, Zoro just nods his head.
That's when the video ends.
"What happened after?" Robin asks.
"We got him to the hospital," Ace answers as he takes the flash drive out, "and Smoker and I found out what happened to Zoro. I found the videos, put them together and sent them to Smoker. I don't know how but the teachers got in trouble. The students got in trouble and the school got shut down." Ace explains.
"Zoro's family has done that." Sanji states.
"Zoro's family?" Nami asks, not sure Zoro's family had the power.
"Zoro's family is actually very wealthy." Sabo answers.
"If you want to know more you might want to ask Zoro." Ace says. Nami and Robin looking at the two brunettes and two blonde who seem very calm. They knew Zoro more than they do.
She will found out.
