Ryo and Shun's duel continued on. During the duel, there was an incident, but Shun was able to handle it. What happened had Shun see how foolish he's been, dueling only for revenge rather than it's true purpose. It also had him realize that he's formed new friends with Yukin and the others since they share the same goal. That's why he chose to summon out a new monster.

"That is one mean birdie! Shun has actually pulled off an elemental summon!" Marcy announced as she referred to Shun's new monster: Battlize-Raptor: Stealth Vulture with it soaring over their heads with 2800atk points. Ryo might have had Telepath Witch at 300def points, Memory Witch at 1500def points, and Witch Charmer at 3000atk points, but that might not matter. As for their life points, Ryo had 1900 while Shun had 1400.

"Where did that thing come from?!" Ryo said.

"It was a gift." Shun said.

Flashback

"Here, Shun. It might do you good to have these." Renji said as he handed Shun some cards before they departed to Nitro City.

"What are these?" Shun questioned.

"Elemental cards." Renji said. "We have developed these to aid us in the battle against Promin Academy."

"Forget it. I don't want them, I don't need them." Shun said as he refused to take them.

"I beg to differ." Renji said. "While you are a skilled duelist, one must be willing to improve their deck. Even one new card can make the slightest difference. Even the most skilled duelists can't rely on the same tactics. So, are you a real duelist or are you just a stubborn child?" Renji managed to persuade Shun into taking the cards. He thought he wouldn't really need them, but Shun now sees that they're not just weapons against their enemies.

End of Flashback

...

"I owe you one, Ryo. I almost lost sight of what dueling is really about. I almost forgot what's really important." Shun said. "This duel has helped me remember. Too bad I can't let you win the duel to show my gratitude. However, you should be flattered that you're the first person I'm using my new elemental card against. You'll also be the first one to fall by it."

"You think you're going to win? Bring it on." Ryo said as he wasn't scared. "My Witch Charmer is still stronger with him having 3000atk points. He's only going to get stronger from here since he gains 3000atk points for every witch I have on the field."

"That's about to change!" Shun said. "I activate Battlize-Raptor: Stealth Vulture's special ability! I can banish one Battlize-Raptor from my graveyard! When I do that, one monster loses attack points equal to the one I banished! I'm banishing Battlize-Raptor: Rebellious Eagle!" He removed his eagle from the graveyard and that caused his vulture to be armed with a missile. "Battlize-Raptor: Rebellious Eagle has 2000atk points! That means one monster is loosing 2000atk points! Take aim at Witch Charmer!"

"Oh boy!" Ryo said as he could see this was going to be trouble.

"Fire Stealth Missile!" Shun ordered. Stealth Vulture fired a missile and blasted Witch Charmer with it. Witch Charmer's attack points dropped to 1000.

'Okay, don't freak.' Ryo thought. 'Even if he attacks, I'll still have a 100LP. Besides, I got something in store for him.'

"I activate Stealth Vulture's ability again!" Shun said.

"Are you serious?! You can use it more than once?!" Ryo said as he didn't expect that.

"I now banish Battlize-Raptor: Torpedo Harrier, who has 1000atk points! That's all your Witch Charmer has left! Fire!" Shun said. His vulture fired another missile and blasted Witch Charmer with it. Witch Charmer lost whatever strength it had left.

"Witch Charmer has no power left! One more strike from Stealth Vulture will end this duel!" Marcy said.

'I still have to be careful.' Shun thought as he looked at what was on Ryo's field and noticed another card. 'He's still has a face-down. Luckily, I've got something to help.' He looked in his hand and saw he had Raptor Warning Shot. 'With Raptor Warning Shot, I can destroy a spell or trap card since I have a Battlize-Raptor on the field.' Shun seems to have this duel won. " I activate my spell..." "I play my trap card!" Ryo acted before Shun did as he played his trap.

"I activate Witch Allurement!" Ryo said. "Since I have a witch on the field, this trap card forces your monsters to attack the one the monster I choose! I'm choosing you to attack Witch Charmer!"

"Say what?! I was about to do that either way! Why would you have me target your weakest monster?!" Shun said as he had a feeling Ryo had something tricky planned.

"That's simple. When you attack a monster that has 'witch' in it's name, you're the one that takes the damage!" Ryo said.

"Shun's the one taking the damage?! That means that this duel could be over right here!" Marcy said. Shun saw no way out of this. Ryo played his cards well.

"Pretty good, Ryo." Shun said as he actually wasn't upset that he was about to lose. "Well, I guess there's no way to stop it. I might as well go out with a bang. Stealth Vulture, attack Witch Charmer with Silent Night Assault!" Shun accepted that he was about to lose, but pushed on. His vulture took aim with blasters and fired away with a series of shots. However, a barrier came around his Witch Charmer and absorbed all the power. When the barrier was filled with power, it detonated and blasted Shun with all of his life points dropping to zero.

"It's over and done! We now have Ryo as our third semi-finalist!" Marcy announced. Unlike the previous duels, this one was ending on a good note.

Yukin

'Nice work, Shun.' Yukin thought. Despite that he was being held by Rojin, he was still able to see the duel and was glad with what he saw. 'Looks like Shun is finally coming around. As for Zoey, I need to get out of here and get her.' "Well, Rojin, it looks like..." "Zoey Baxter is on a bridge near Sector 35!" Rojin said to an intercom and alerted his men about her.

"No!" Yukin said.

"Apprehend her! Bring her to me!" Rojin said.

"Not if I can help it!" Yukin said as he turned for the door, but there were a couple security officers standing in his way.

"It looks like you can't help it." Rojin said as he believed he had Yukin trapped.

"Oh yeah?" Yukin said. He completely surprised Rojin as he was able to take on the officers and got pass them as he ran out of there.

"He's tougher than I thought." Rojin admitted, but he wasn't going to let that stop him. He's got a few other plans in mind. He reached for his console and was speaking with someone else. "How are things going with Ezekiel?"

"Very good, sir. The control chip we surgically installed is still operating."

"Excellent." Rojin said as things were still going according to plan. "No matter how much my opponent arranges the pieces, I still take them and it will soon be checkmate. I was hoping to put Yukin under my control as well, but he won't get in the way." Even though Yukin managed to get a hold of his runner and broke out of there, he knew things were only going to get difficult from here. He had to get to Zoey before Rojin does, but Rojin practically had every contingency planned.

The Streets

"You heard the boss. We got to get that Zoey girl. She's at the bridge in Sector 35." An officer told his partner. What they didn't know was that Soto was close by and heard every word. Now that he knows where Zoey is, he's got to get to her fast. Just who is going to get Zoey first?

The Arena

Now that the duel was over, Shun and Ryo rode back to the arena. Even though the duel ended with Shun defeated, he wasn't exactly upset that he lost the duel. They both pulled over with Shun accepting what has happened.

"That was a good duel, Ryo." Shun said as he removed his helmet. "That last move you made was a great counter."

"You got some pretty good moves yourself." Ryo said. "I was starting to doubt Yukin and the rest of you Knights of Legend. I guess I was a fool for thinking you guys would actually work with Rojin or anything like that."

"Yukin meant what he said." Shun claimed. "He wants to help people because he believes dueling should be about bonds and enjoyment. He's going to do what he can to help his friends. That's just the kind of guy he is." Looking back, Shun is starting to see how foolish he was. "In fact, I wasn't exactly friendly towards him myself, but he does want to help me. My home is being destroyed by Promin Academy, but I know he and the others will do what they can. I'm not going to give up either." Ryo could see Yukin and the others were good people, and he wants to do what he can to help them.

"Okay, you two." They both looked and saw security was there. "The loser is coming with us. It's the Underground Garbage for you."

"I guess I better do what they say." Shun stated. "I'm coming, but don't expect me to be so easy going." He warned them as he got off his runner and went with them.

"Hey, Shun." Ryo said with Shun turning back to him. Ryo held out his fist towards him. "Let's both do our best, not just to change our cities, but to make them ones we can be proud of." Shun liked the sound of that as he turned to Ryo and held out his own fist with him giving off a genuine smile. Shun's flying in a brand new sky.

Zoey

"Can you stand, Nova?" Rishi asked.

"I think so." Nova said as she managed to get back up. Now that the duel was over, the girls were getting things in order before they headed out. "I knew that Ryo would win."

"Well, it's been fun, but I should probably get back to the arena." Zoey said. "Everyone is probably worried about me, especially my friends. I got to let them know that I'm okay. I just...wish I knew which way the arena was."

"We know where the arena is. We can help you get back." Nene offered.

"That would be great." Zoey said.

"Hold it right there." The girls were surprised to see security officers. They blocked both ways and there was nowhere they can escape to.

"What's going on? "Zoey questioned as she had a bad feeling about this.

"Zoey Baxter, we are under orders to bring you to Commander Rojin. Don't try anything or you and those girls could pay for it. We're authorize to take you by force if we must." Knowing how this city runs, Zoey knows that this can't be good for or the girls, but there's nothing she can do. She has no way out. Shun might be flying through a new sky, but Zoey might end up getting caged.
