Last Christmas
Chapter Two
December 2009
Logan did not think this through very well. He had spotted Georgie getting grilled by her relative, figured out she was fielding more questions about when she would snag herself a nice young man like her sister Maxie had, and thought to himself: we could solve each other's problems.
Cause he sure could use a new girlfriend to chase off his old girlfriend. There was nothing that made Lulu madder than thinking the man she deemed should only want her had moved on to someone else. For the last two and half years, Logan had been in and out of a relationship with Lulu Spencer and this time when they broke up he swore to himself it was for good. That was five weeks ago and she was still chasing him around and still begging him for another romantic reunion.
No way! No ma'am! He could not do it again.
Getting Georgie to fake date him sounded easy in comparison. But Georgie was all fire in her eyes and prickly edges. She sometimes seemed sweet but underneath that sweet, shy smile for her elders was one feisty chick. Logan should have known she wouldn't be putty in his arms.
He had to agree to attend a bunch of lame parties for Maxie's stupid wedding to Spinelli. Why Coop would still even talk to that woman was a mystery to Logan. If Coop had just turned his back on his ex, then Logan would not be here right now.
Kissing Georgie Jones and asking himself if he knew what the hell he was getting into.
He hadn't kissed anyone but Lulu in two years. Georgie tasted different. Felt different. She was curvier, her touch softer, her smell sweeter. He was getting lost in their kiss, pulling her flush against his body, when she jerked back.
She said "I won't smack you cause I agreed to our fake dating scheme so a few kisses were to be expected but don't take advantage or I'll Lorena Bobbitt you.'
Logan jumped back and flinched, covering his package. Georgie giggled.
Just then the doors opened, and she tossed herself back into his arms and kissed him again. He was suddenly caught up in a second kiss from Georgie Jones in under two minutes. Now his head was really spinning. He was lost and didn't want to stop but then a voice said loudly "Wow! This is a surprise!"
Georgie slowly broke their kiss. Her eyes fluttered opened. Logan wondered if she was as affected by their kiss as he was.
She blushed as she turned to look at her cousin Robin. "Oh, hey! We've been trying to keep this on the down low but I guess our secret is out now."
Georgie grabbed Logan's hand and pulled him back inside. She was shivering. He said "Let's get you a hot drink."
She threw him a grateful smile. "That sounds amazing right about now."
With his hand on her back, he led her over to the bar. Olivia Falconeri happened to be behind the bar. She said "Georgie, don't tell me you're dating this young man. I was hoping to fix you up with my Dante!"
"Sorry," Georgie said, looking at Logan, "I'm taken now."
"That's right, sweetheart,' Logan said "And I'm not letting you get away anytime soon."
Olivia said "Oh, you two make a cute couple! What can I get for you?"
"Spiked spiced cider for me," Georgie said. "What about you, hun?"
Logan grinned at the endearment, looking like he was biting back a laugh. His hand was still resting on her back. "That sounds good, babe. Hook up us, would you?" he looked at Olivia. "Whatever my lady wants, she gets."
"Your lady?" Lulu asked, as she walked up.
Here we go, Logan thought to himself. That didn't take long.
He should have known it wouldn't cause it seemed that every corner he turned these days Lulu was right there ready to throw herself at him another time. They had the type of relationship where everything was intense all the time. He thought that meant they were made for each other but it turned out it just meant she needed mental health care. She got it. She was more stable now and he was happy for that. He had even gone to anger management and he was more stable now too. But they were still not good together.
She just needed to get that through her pretty little head.
Georgie answered Lulu "That's right. Logan and I are dating now. It's a new thing but not that new. You got a problem with that?"
Lulu glared at them both. "How new? We just broke up!"
Logan said "Over a month ago. I've cried in my beer enough over you to last two lifetimes. I get to move on if I wanna move on and don't you dare give Georgie a hard time over it. She ain't the reason you and I aren't together. I fell for her long after we broke up."
"Long after?" Lulu asked "We were together at Halloween! It's not even Christmas! Whatever you two think you got going on, I'm sure it's just sex and bad sex at that."
Georgie laughed. She stroked Logan's arm. He watched her as if she was the hottest woman who had ever touched him. Was he acting or not? He didn't even know anymore. He just wanted to see what she would do next.
Georgie said "He has no complaints," before she pulled Logan into a tongue tangling kiss that really should have only happened behind closed doors and near a bed.
He heard party goers gasp. He had no idea Georgie had this in her. His hands went to her hips. He forgot all about his ex standing two feet away. He let himself enjoy the perks of fake dating Georgie Jones as he got lost in their third kiss.
They were racking them up tonight and this whole thing had just started.
Olivia said "Okay, okay, don't make me turn the hose on you two!"
Georgie nipped his bottom lip as she broke their kiss. She wiped the corner of his lip with her thumb. "After we have our drinks, take me home for some more bad sex," she teased.
Lulu huffed off, throwing her arms out in a way that said: this is ridiculous!
Logan broke eye contact with Georgie to look over his shoulder and watch Lulu stomp into the stairwell. Whew. It looked like she bought it. But so did everyone else at the party.
They had an audience now.
Logan smiled at Georgie. "Let's hurry up with these drinks. I want to get you behind closed doors as soon as possible."
Olivia said "Those drinks are coming right up. Young love. I remember those days. Nothing better, I swear. You better make the most of them cause before you know it there gone just like that and you're married with a couple of kids. Well, not me, but most people fall into that trap. Live it up while you can."
Logan said "Trust us, we plan to."
Georgie and Logan shared a look filled with secrets. How did they go from barely tolerating each other to making out in less than twenty minutes? Maybe Georgie was drunk and tomorrow she would tell him to forget this whole crazy thing.
Cooper came strolling over. His date, Nadine Crowell, was on his arm. Coop was a sucker for blondes. He said "Hey, guys, something you two want to share with the class?"
Nadine said "Ain't it obvious? They are warm for each other's forms, like my Aunt Raylene used to say. Hot to trot. Down to get down."
Logan said "Yeah, yeah, we get it." He looked at Cooper. "It's new. Not much to tell yet."
"I don't get it," Cooper said. "You didn't even wanna come to this party tonight. If you two are dating, why didn't you bring Logan as your date, Georgie? That kiss didn't look like something new from where I was standing."
Logan said "Clock out, Officer Barrett. You're off duty tonight. No need to interrogate my girl on our sex life. We were friends with benefits, if you must know, and now we're taking us public. Surprise."
Cooper asked "Georgie?"
"Ditto," she said and forced a smile. She was grateful when Olivia gave her her spiked spiced cider. She sat down on a stool and took a sip.
Logan rubbed her arms. "Are you warm enough yet to take this coat off? Don't want you getting overheated."
Nadine cooed. "Aw, you two are as cute as two bugs in a rug. Aren't they, Cooper?"
"Hmmmm, yeah, cute," Cooper said, finding the whole thing weird. Logan told him everything and they lived together so it was extremely odd that Cooper hadn't known Logan was sleeping with someone new.
Logan winked at Cooper. "Hey, lighten up! I'm starting to think you ain't happy for me and my girl."
Maxie stomped over to them. "What was that? You two were pulling all the attention off me! If not for Spinelli begging me to finish our dance, I would have came over here and threw a drink on both of you! I don't know what the hell this is but this is my engagement party, not yours, so the attention should be on my me and my fiancé, not you two. That was so nasty to watch too, by the way!"
Logan said "Then you should have looked away cause I will kiss your sister whenever the mood strikes me and if you don't like it then stop inviting her to all your nonsense wedding events."
"My wedding is not nonsense, you ass!"
