Last Christmas

Chapter Five

December 2009

Georgie had brought popcorn and candy to Logan's house. Once they made the popcorn and dumped it in a bowl, added salt, then she opened up the M&M candy and dumped them in.

Logan was aghast. He choked on his tongue. "What did you just do, girl?"

Cooper chuckled as he ate his dinner. "He doesn't like new things," he said to Georgie. To Logan he said "That's how the Jones girls eat popcorn."

"Oh my God," Logan teased "you didn't even ask me if I wanted you to destroy my popcorn like that."

"Hush," Georgie said "try it and if you don't like it," she dropped her voice "I'll make it up to you."

Logan slowly wet his lips, his eyes locked on hers. He was lost in staring into her eyes when his cell phone rang.

Georgie asked "Should you get that? It might be your job, right?"

Logan pulled out his phone. He groaned and said "Leave me alone, woman! Catch a clue. I don't want you no more."

Georgie took out her phone and said "I've got an idea. Let's take a picture."

Logan pressed his face next to hers, but Georgie turned and caught his lips in a kiss, then snapped a photo. She sent it to Lulu and wrote: My boyfriend is too busy to talk to you right now.

Logan couldn't help smiling when he saw what she had just done. "I didn't know you had that in you, Georgie."

She gently lay her hand over his gaudy steer belt buckle. "I'm sick of losing what I want for myself to other women."

Logan had slept with a half dozen women in his life and yet somehow this felt like the sexiest moment of his life so far. Fully clothed. Just cause Georgie was touching his belt buckle and her eyes were locked on his.

Cooper cleared his throat. He stood up from the table. "I'm gonna go to my room. Enjoy the movie."

Georgie moved back from Logan. "Coop, you should watch with us, right, Logan?"

"Nah," Cooper said "I'm good but you two have fun."

He hurried off to his room. Once they heard the door close, Georgie held her hand up for a high five. Logan chuckled and slapped her hand.

Cooper may not totally believe they weren't up to something nefarious and sneaky quite yet- he was a cop and he had great instincts about people lying to him- but if they kept it up like they just had been then sooner rather than later Cooper would be fooled.

And that would be a good sign that they could fool other people who didn't know them half as well.

"Find something for us to watch on Netflix," Logan said, handing Georgie the remote. She was sitting on the couch.

"What are you in the mood for?"

Logan tried to push down the desire that rose in him at her words but as soon as their eyes met he could tell she knew just what he was in the mood for the most. She grabbed his t-shirt and pulled him down onto the couch as their mouths met in a heated lip lock.

He was shocked. No one was around so there was no reason to be kissing right now. "What are we doing?" he asked, breathlessly.

"Do you wanna stop?"

He looked over his shoulder toward Cooper's room. "I think we spooked him enough that he won't dare come out for a while."

Georgie kissed Logan's throat. "Why are you still talking?"

He chuckled as he turned back around. Georgie wrapped her arms around his neck. Her head titled to the side and stared into his eyes.

She asked "Who would it hurt if we have some fun together until after the wedding?"

Who would it hurt? Logan thought to himself. He had a bad feeling that the answer was going to be him. He had never dated a woman that didn't hurt him in some way, shape or form. But this wasn't really dating. It was fake dating. Totally different thing.

"Sounds confusing to me, doll. You sure you can handle this?"

"You worry about you being sure you can handle me," she said as she nipped at his lips.

With a groan, he gave in and kissed her again, a moan replacing the groan as she pulled him down on top of her. The TV screen showed options for Netflix but they didn't turn on a movie for a while.

A while later, as Logan was kissing Georgie's throat, their bodies pressed together wantonly, she said "We should stop," in a tone that made it clear that she was torn.

Logan shifted so their foreheads were pressed together, their lips nearly touching, as their breaths mingled. "You sure you wanna stop?"

"If we're not moving this to the bedroom, we should stop and watch the movie. The popcorn is probably cold by now."

Logan chuckled, as he sat up. "The moment you dumped that candy into it, it was ruined anyway."

"Don't say that. You can't say you don't like it," she smiled "without even giving it a chance."

"I can know if I like something without ever trying it."

She ran her hand over his chest. "Are you sure about that?"

He chuckled again and looked away, breaking their intense eye contact, as he tried to catch his breath.

Georgie said "I'm sorry I started something I wasn't prepared to finish."

"Stop that. We're just having some fun, girl. Not every kiss has to lead to sex."

Just then Cooper came out of his room. He coughed loudly before coming down the hall. Logan and Georgie were both breathless, their hair mussed and cheeks pink. Logan moved a throw pillow in front of him. Georgie bit back a giggle.

Coop said "I'm going to go pick up Nadine from work. I don't like her taking the bus at night."

Logan said "Okay, man, see you later."

Georgie said "Tell Nadine I said hi."

Coop said "Sure thing," as he grabbed his keys out of the bowl by the door and left.

Logan and Georgie shared a lingering look. They were all alone in the house now. And that was not lost on either of them.

She grabbed the remote. "Let's see what's new this month."

She settled on a comedy to lighten the mood. Logan asked her if she wanted a drink and went to fix them some. He brought the drinks and the popcorn back with him.

Georgie slipped off to the bedroom to freshen up. When she was alone, she looked into the mirror.

What the hell am I doing? she asked herself. She really didn't have a good answer. It was fun to be fake dating Logan though. The most fun she had, had in years.

Was it really so wrong to have a little fun during the holidays? Right or wrong, she had no intention of stopping anytime soon.
