Last Christmas
Chapter Six
December 2009
Watching the movie was awkward. All Logan could think about were the hot kisses they had shared just before they turned on the movie. And the hot kisses they had shared at Maxie and Spinelli's second engagement party. First on the balcony, then by the bar. He couldn't pick his favorite. They were all amazing, and all felt life changing.
But they were just having fun, right? He barely knew Georgie Jones. One thing he could say though was that they had killer chemistry.
If this is not moving to the bedroom, we should stop, she had said, making clear that they were not moving to the bedroom but that a tiny part of her hated to have to push him away in that moment. He wasn't upset that it didn't go any further. His head was spinning.
This was only for fun and to accomplish their goals: get Lulu off Logan's back and Great Aunt Ida off Georgie's back. That was it. And if, while they were accomplishing those goals, the fringe benefits were smoking hot kisses then was that really something to worry about? It's not like him and Georgie would lose their awesome friendship over all this. They barely knew each other and barely cared if the other fell off the face of the earth or was shot into space, before they had started this fake dating pact.
This was really win-win for both of them at this point. What was so surprising was how hot their chemistry was. Logan had thought things were good with Lulu in that department but he must have been kidding himself.
How could Georgie Jones be the first woman who it felt this right with? It made no sense! Come on, God, is this some kind of bad joke? Logan asked himself Georgie Jones? Really? She don't even like me and she's not my type. I like blondes.
But now he liked Georgie. At least kissing Georgie. And eating nasty popcorn creations to make her happy.
She noticed he was zoned out and threw a piece of popcorn at him. He acted shocked, and he grabbed a handful and threw it at her. They were laughing and fighting over the bowl when Coop's lights pulled into the driveway, just as the movie was ending.
Georgie and Logan's eyes met and held. Silently, they decided they should cuddle so that Cooper would buy that they were a couple. Georgie set the popcorn bowl on the coffee table. Logan settled into the corner of the couch. Georgie wrapped her arm around his waist, tucked her feet up next to herself (her shoes were off) and rest her head on his chest. He gently caressed her back.
She intertwined their fingers. He watched the way their fingers looked as they twined together. His heart jumped to his throat.
Fun, fun, fun, this is just for fun, Logan thought.
Damn. He must have been more hard up for female companionship than he had known because anything and everything that Georgie did had his body on high alert, butterflies racing through him and his heart swelling with affection- for this woman he barely knew and barely liked. In fact, gun to his head a year ago, he would have said she was quite unpleasant to be around and he could not even imagine what nasty opinion about him she had.
He chuckled.
Georgie whispered, as they heard Cooper coming up the walkway. "We must both be crazy to be doing this..."
"Shhhh, remember your Great Aunt Ida is hellbent on you dating doctor douchebag. Eyes on the prize, darlin."
She giggled, pressing her face into his chest to muffle it, and that is how Cooper found them.
Logan's face was warm as he said "Hey, buddy."
"Hey, you two. How was the movie?"
Logan could barely follow the plot for thinking about Georgie. "It sucked."
Cooper said "They need to put some new ones on there. Well, I'm hitting the sack."
Georgie said "Yeah, I should take off. Walk me out, babe?"
Babe. He chuckled. One thing he was pretty sure about was that Georgie did find him attractive. The way she kissed him said she surely did. And he couldn't lie either: once he took a good look at her, he really liked what she was working with. Her body was the best out of all the woman he had met in Port Charles.
"Sure thing, love," he said. Their eyes met and held as she stood up and reached for his hand.
He took her hand and stood up.
Cooper said "Night, guys."
They mumbled good night to him but their eyes were locked on each other. Once he was in his room, Georgie let go of Logan's hand.
"Uh, yeah, I better get going. I have school in the morning."
"And I have a shift at the firehouse."
"Yep. Okay. Well, let me get on my shoes and then I'll help you clean up."
"Don't stress. I can handle it."
"You sure? We made a mess with our popcorn fight."
"I got it, girl."
"Thanks, Logan."
"Thank you for...well...helping me out."
Georgie chuckled sexily. "Everyone needs help sometime."
Soon he was helping her into her coat and walking her out to her car. They shared a long hug and they she got in her car. Logan stood in the driveway and watched as she drove away.
He let a shaky breath ghost over his lips. Last night he had been flying high on adrenaline. Their fake dating plan had seemed brilliant. But today the reality of it was crashing down on him. Could Georgie really handle having a fling with him without catching feelings? Could he handle having a fling with her without catching feelings?
She had said to him: Come January 1st, whether Lulu is over you or not, I'm out. That was just three weeks away.
There were a lot worst ways to spend the holiday season than having a fling with a hot chick like Georgie Jones. Logan would just enjoy it while he could and hope it worked to make Lulu back off.
Both Georgie and him knew they weren't going anywhere. What could go wrong?
