Gordon Tracy, the second youngest son of billionaire ex-astronaut Jeff Tracy, had always loved the water, both swimming and the creatures that lived within it. Upon graduating High School at eighteen, he signed up to WASPs.
Soon after passing his Basic Training, he had been involved in an accident. An accident that had almost killed him. An accident that had killed the others involved. A severe spinal injury received during the accident meant that the Doctors thought he may never walk again.
Now twenty-two, he was not only able to walk, he was representing the USA in swimming at the London Twenty-Twelve Olympic Games. Swimming had been a big part of him getting back on his feet, both physically and mentally.

Smiling, Gordon left the Aquatic Center to return to the Athlete Village. He had been training before the Opening Ceremony. He thought about all that had happened in the last few years. His family was safe. His second eldest brother was now engaged. His youngest brother was happy with his girlfriend. All was well with his Dad and his other brothers. He was competing in the Olympics. Tracy Incorporated was doing well. International Rescue had regained their reputation after the incident with The Hood. Life was good.
He was followed out the building by a woman with black hair tied back in a bun. The flag of the United Kingdom obvious on her jacket. On the walk back to their accommodation, they started chatting. Her name was Pippa Walker, and she was a ten-meter platform diver. She was also an Architecture student at Southampton Solent University, and would be going into her second year in September.

Over the next few days he came across Pippa a number of times, both at the Aquatic Center and around the Athlete Village. They became close. He had consoled her when she and her fellow solo ten-meter platform diver didn't make it past the preliminary stage. She had congratulated him when he won the gold in the hundred-meter freestyle. Just before the closing ceremony, Gordon asked her out to dinner. Pippa had said yes.
They officially began dating around a month later.
