It was finally the end of a long school week.. well, almost. There was still Friday to get through, but Linda always thought Friday was like the final home stretch. It was only eight hours of classes that she was pretty much acing- it wasn't so bad.
"Hey," Danny sat next to her I their shared physics class.
"Hi," she greeted around a yawn. They had become very good friends since school started.
"You tired?"
She nodded, "I couldn't get to sleep last night."
"How come?"
She shrugged, "my brain wouldn't shut up."
He wanted to ask what she meant by that, but the teacher entered the room. He made a note to talk to her at lunch.
Linda had brought her own lunch- she wasn't going to make that mistake again. She had packed her chicken chili in a thermos to keep it as hot as possible. She had made tortilla chips the night before, so she took those out of her lunch box.
"This seat taken?" Danny wondered already starting to sit.
She smiled, "it is now. What you got today?"
"Eh..." he took a bite of his sandwich. "Ham and cheese. What's that?"
"Chicken chili and tortilla chips." She handed him a chip.
He ate it, "mm, that doesn't taste like the normal kind."
"They're home made."
"Who made them?"
"I did."
"Yeah? They're good."
"Thanks."
They ate in comfortable silence before Danny asked, "you said earlier that your brain wouldn't shut up. What did you mean?"
"Oh, I just meant I was thinking about everything under the sun. It was one thing, then mid-thought another thing... that ever happen to you?"
"Sometimes, yeah."
"Good. Now we can be crazy together!" Linda laughed and opened her chocolate milk carton.
"Do you like pizza?" He seemed to ask out if the blue.
"Everyone likes pizza!"
"And movies?"
"Well, now, that depends on the movie. Rom-coms? Yes please! War movies? No thank you."
"Wanna test our luck and see what's showing tomorrow night?"
She stopped her spoon from going into her mouth in midair. "You mean like a date?"
"Yeah. We'll grab pizza, see a movie."
"That sounds nice! Okay," she smiled widely. She was going on a date with the cutest guy in school!
Wendy lived in her own penthouse apartment with her husband, but she could occasionally be found in the home where her sister still resided. It was usually to talk to Marni about the latest in the fashion world, or to ask for some money. Wendy had married rich, but that didn't mean she had all the money in the world.
Linda was happy when Wendy visited. Especially this time around, because she had a pressing question. "Wendy, can I ask you a question?"
"What is it?"
"I've got a date tonight- and he's gonna be here soon- and I have no idea what to wear or do!"
"Where are you going on this date?"
"We're going to grab pizza and catch a movie."
Wendy thought for a moment, "okay- my advice? Cut the AC up all the way and don't wear a bra."
"Wendy!" Linda followed her around the kitchen. "I'm serious! I really like this guy, and I don't know why he even likes me. I am the complete opposite of the kinda girls he usually dates."
"I gotta see what you've got to wear." Wendy could never pass up a makeover opportunity.
"Not a lot, I don't think."
"You have good fashion sense- I'll find something."
Wendy did find something for Linda to wear, and everything was perfect. The food was perfect, the movie was perfect, the kiss was perfect. Linda had never had a kiss that perfect before... which was why she soon found herself going steady with Danny Reagan. She was over at his house constantly, and he had never been to hers... she wanted to keep it that way, if she had a say.
"You think I could hang out at your house today?" Linda asked as she swung her backpack over her arm.
"Actually, I was thinking maybe we could go to your house?" Danny questioned. "Jamie's friends are coming over and I'd much rather study where it's quiet."
"Okay," Linda said hesitantly. She did not want him to go to her house, but what was she supposed to say? No?
They sat on the couch after having a snack of pretzels and peanut butter and M'n'Ms, and pulled their notebooks out to start on their homework.
Linda opened her notebook as she got more comfortable on the couch.
"My notes aren't very good..." Danny confessed- he had hardly taken any notes at all.
"Oh, that's okay. We can work off mine." She shifted closer to Danny, a faint blush coming to her cheeks.
"Wow, it's even in color," he pointed to the notepaper, scooting closer to her. He didn't miss the blush on her face.
"Of course. Otherwise it's boring." She said it like it was an obvious answer. "All the dull pencil marks make it... not fun."
"Whatever works," he shrugged and scooted even closer to her so that there was hardly any space between them. He didn't notice her swallow and clear her throat. "Velocity equals..."
"Mass times acceleration." She told him, pushing her hair behind her ear.
"Right. Sorry my notes suck... science is just so boring."
"It doesn't have to be. We can make it fun." Linda stood up and guided Danny to do the same. "You stand there, and I'll be here."
Danny walked to where Linda had pointed, and waited until she stopped at her spot. "Okay, so what?"
"So if you stand there, and I move towards you... I'm walking with a constant velocity."
"Towards me," he watched her take slow, deliberate steps.
"Yes, towards you. I'm moving, so therefore I'm..."
"... accelerating?"
"Yes! Okay, and in order to find out how fast I'm going, you'll need to know my acceleration and my mass." She stood in front of him, a whisper away from his lips.
"Your acceleration was slow, and I don't know your mass. Should I find out?"
"How?"
"Like this," he wrapped his arms around her, and kissed her lips. He picked her up and she tightened her arms around his neck. He walked to the couch and sat down, holding Linda in his lap.
Linda didn't know how it happened; she didn't know how she was sitting in Danny's lap, kissing him fervently. Her hands were in his hair, his hands on her hips. She had been explaining velocity! How did that turn into a make out session?
Danny's hands moved beneath the shoulders of her chunky cardigan. He slowly moved it down her arms, "is this okay?"
"Yes," Linda nodded, tugging his shirt up a little bit, exposing some stomach skin. "Is this-?"
"Oh hell yeah," he Interrupted her before capturing her lips once again.
Linda moaned against his lips, slowly snaking her hand up his shirt while his went up the back of hers. She had only ever gone this far with Mark- and she definitely didn't want a repeat of that. She felt moisture gathering between her legs and heat pooling in her stomach as Danny's hands roamed her back and his lips kissed her neck.
Danny smirked when Linda moaned then sighed, "you like that, huh?"
"Mmm, yes."
He bit her neck, intent on leaving a hickey. He bit her harder when his name came from her lips.
"Oh, Danny," Linda knew she had to stop soon or something bad would happen.
"And I thought you wanted to remain a virgin," Wendy's voice interrupted their make out session.
Linda scrambled off Danny, and stared at her sister like a deer in the headlights. "Wendy- I-"
"No, no, don't let me interrupt!" She titled her head, "this one's much hotter than Mark. Has he touched you yet?"
"Wendy!"
"You must be Wendy..." Danny said, standing up. "I'm Danny."
"I know. I've heard all about you," Wendy rolled her eyes, then grabbed Linda's arm and pulled her to her. She dropped her voice to a whisper, "do you need protection?"
"Wendy!"
"I, uh... I should get going, Linda," Danny stuffed his notebook and papers in his backpack. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yeah, okay, see ya."
"Bye," he closed the door quickly.
"Wendy!" Linda slapped her sister's arm.
"I was saving you from yourself, Linda. I know you're turned on."
Instinctively, she pressed her legs together and crossed her arms, "you don't know that."
"But he did. And he was turned on too."
"How dare you bring up Mark in front of Danny? How dare you? Now I have to explain the whole story to him!"
Wendy only shrugged, "I'll be listening to music if you wanna take care of that itch he didn't get to scratch."
Linda felt her cheeks heat up as she watched Wendy walk up the stairs. She gathered her books, "at least she doesn't hate him."
Wendy didn't hate Danny yet- but she would, in time.
