New Years Day
Dick locked himself in his room as soon as he got away from Superboy. He slid down the wall and removed his mask. He was confused because he had never had an encounter with Zatanna that was so hostile before and that he had to admit to Barbara that another girl had kissed him. Dick was lost in thought when his door opened. Dick scrambled to put his mask back on before he realized who it was. Wally looked concerned as he looked over Dick, "Hey Conner told me what happened. Are you okay? Did she do anything to you?" Dick removed his mask again with his gloves and laid it on the desk, "She was squeezing me which hurt. I think I have a few bruised or cracked ribs from fighting Batman. Besides that, no she didn't hurt me." As Dick was telling Wally this, his face began to heat up and embarrassment flooded his body. He was Gotham's very own Boy Wonder and he couldn't even defend himself against a girl. As if Wally was reading his mind, "Hey, she had no right to do that to you or anyone to the matter. I know she doesn't know you aren't single and that you can tell her but still it doesn't excuse her actions. You need to tell Batman and Black Canary."
Dick ran a hand through his hair and went to sit down on his bed, "Maybe, I don't know what is going to happen later and tomorrow. I might not even have time to tell either one of them. What happens if she does it again?" As Wally was going to reply to Dick, a hard bang echoed through the room. It started to happen over and over and over again. Dick and Wally shared a look before Dick placed his mask across his face again and Wally went to open the door. Robin has a birdarang ready and Wally had one of Robin's eskrima sticks, both ready to attack anything behind the door. The door opened to reveal Zatanna hitting the door with a book. Wally looked back at Robin with a literal "WTF" look as he moved in front of the door, shielding Robin from view. Wally gave Zatanna a hard look, "What are you doing Zatanna, do you not realize that we were ready to attack you? Do you not remember what we just went through like two hours ago?" Not paying attention to anything Wally had just said, Zatanna tried making her way into the room, "Just coming to see my boyfriend Wally, no need to worry." She tried to flash an innocent smile but was blocked by Wally, "Zatanna, Rob isn't even single. He has a girlfriend. If you keep this up, I'm going to report you to the League and they can deal with you." Zatanna rose up to her full height and went toe to toe with Wally, not saying a word.
By the grace of god, Aqualad's voice came over the intercom, calling all League and Young Justice Members to the conference room. Wally and Zatanna stayed toe to toe before Zatanna finally backed off and started making her way to the conference room. Wally shut and locked the door before turning back to Robin. Robin looked horrified at what just occurred. Wally handed the eskrima stick back to Robin, "You need to tell someone now. In less than an hour, she's already threading the line of abusive." Robin looked scared, "Walls, i'm scared honestly. Babs is my first girlfriend and I don't even know if I want to date her anymore." Wally placed his hands on Robin's shoulders and turned Robin towards himself, "Listen Dickie, I don't know why she's doing what she's doing but I won't let her hurt you, I promise. Not all girls are like her Dickie, you and Babs have been together for what? Almost 6 months now. She's never been this way with you and I highly doubt she ever will. Let's get this meeting done first then we can address it with the league." Robin chewed his lip and nodded. His thoughts were racing, he was already starting to rethink his relationship with Barbara and wondered if it would be better to ask Zatanna out just so she would stop.
Wally put a hand on his shoulder and the two exited the bedroom, not without noticing a black haired magician in the shadows. Wally kept behind Robin until they entered the conference room. They took the two seats furthest from where Zatanna had her stuff. Before Zatanna could try to move closer, Aqualad called the meeting to order. Robin was so lost in thought, he tuned out most of what Aqualad said. It wasn't until Wally nudged him when Aqualad called upon Conner and him to recount their part of the league battles that he came back into focus. Robin explained in detail everything that occurred in the last 2 hours with Conner chirping in every once and a while. Aqualad finished the meeting out and everyone got up from their seats, mentors walking over to meet with their apprentices. Wally made Robin stay seated and tried to wave down Batman, Black Canary, and Flash. Flash came over first cautiously since he didn't know how the pair would react to them since the attack. Wally beckoned Flash closer, "We need Batman and Black Canary now and we need to secure this conference room" Seeing the seriousness in this nephew's words, Flash quickly found the two and asked everyone to leave the conference room. Batman was puzzled by Robin's current appearance, he was lost in thought, staring off into space as they waited.
Once everyone filed out, Batman walked over to the wall panel and tapped a few buttons before the female announcement came over the intercom, informing the 5 that the conference room was secure. All the windows charged to a dark color so no one could see through them and all the doors locked. Bruce, Barry and Wally removed their cowls while Dick removed his mask. Dick was teary-eyed a little bit but one quick swipe over his face and he almost looked fine. Wally took his place back at Dick's side and sat down before running a hand through his hair, "The reason why we need to have a talk right now is because Zatanna is harassing Dick. She's made this fantasy up in her head that Dick is her boyfriend." Barry quickly interrupted, "Did you tell her that Dick is dating someone not to be named?" Wally nodded, "She ambushed him in the hall when he was walking back to his room. She doesn't care even that he is dating someone, she kissed him when the clock turned to midnight." Bruce stood up from his seat, looking at Dick "Wait she kissed you? Did you let her kiss you or did she force you?" Dick shook his head, "She caught me off guard when I was walking back to my room. I didn't expect it." Dinah stood up, "I'm going to find Zatanna, I'm also going to go find Doctor Fate and see if he will release Zatara to deal with this matter." Dick looked confused, "Why can't you just talk to her?" Dinah looked at Dick, "She assaulted you Dick, she kissed you without your consent. She needs to be punished."
Before Dick could say anything else, Dinah walked out of the conference room. Bruce and Barry looked at the pair and Bruce said, "If she does anything else, you need to let one of us know immediately. Always make sure Dick, you have someone with you because right now we don't know how far Zatanna is willing to push the situation." Barry shook his head, "I can't believe she would do something like this. We need Zatara in this situation, I just hope Doctor Fate will release him. Come on Wally, let's go home. It's been a night already." Wally gave Dick a hug, "We will handle this Dickie. "Wally and Barry walked out of the room to the zeta beams, leaving Bruce and Dick in the conference room. Bruce looked over Dick, "Are you okay chum? What's on your mind?" Dick shook his head and looked out the window towards Earth, "I think I'm going to break it off with Babs." Bruce let out a deep sigh, "Let's go home and get some rest first. I understand how it might feel right now but let's not do anything rash when we aren't thinking straight." Dick nodded and stood up. Dick casted one more glance out the window before walking over to Bruce and indicated that he wanted under Batman's cape. Bruce opened up his cape and ushered DIck underneath before picking him and allowing the cape to fall back into place. You wouldn't be able to tell there Dick was even under there. Batman put his cowl back on and made his way out of the conference room towards the zeta beams. Bruce noted Zatanna lurking and the disappointed look when she did not see Dick. Bruce quickly made his way into the zeta tube but before the pair dematerialized, Bruce caught Zatanna's stare as they disappeared from the Watchtower.
