Mox was looking at Roman with a look of confusion, anguish and despair. All of this was happening so fast that he couldn't even process it. Thousands of ideas passed through his mind, so fast that he was a mess. He bit his fists trying to calm himself or think right, to no avail.
And while Mox was desperately looking at Roman, the raven-haired man didn't seem to be paying attention to him, unable to recognize the auburn-haired man in his own desperation as he tried to help Ali who was bleeding to death.
And it was heartbreaking to see how Roman tried to move, tried to break free, and help the injured man. Without getting results.
"You have to help him!" Roman yelled at the guards. "He needs a doctor!"
They just made a mocking gesture and pointed their weapons again at Ali. They started talking, Roman didn't understand a word. Ali, agonizingly, answered them in their language. The guards looked at everyone with contempt and went to the outside of the cell block. Closing the door and isolating all the prisoners.
"They say that if you keep making trouble, they will finish killing me and killing the others as well. They only need you alive… for now." Ali spoke to Roman. "I'm so sorry. I should have been more cautious, I shouldn't have trusted them."
"That doesn't even matter to me!" Roman was breathing heavily. "If anyone can get out of this damn prison, it's me. And I will get you out of here, I won't leave this damn island without you."
"I don't think you can keep that promise, really, I just wish you would release this place. And, if possible, that you bury my body together with my family here on this same island." Ali could no longer speak, he was very weak.
And it was Tony who spoke to Roman with contempt. "But what does this man say? How are you going to free this island if you yourself are a murderer. The biggest villain Utopia ever had."
And Roman looked at Tony with hellfire in his gray eyes.
"And you are an asshole. The only assassin in Utopia, is being adored by all of you. But I can't prove anything and I don't care anyway. I don't care if you think I'm a murderer. I'll gladly become one to get him..." Roman pointed at Ali. "out from this damn place."
Mox couldn't believe what he saw, this guy was nothing like the Roman he met in Utopia. In fact, he did not act, speak, look, or behave like him. His body language was different. The kindness and goodness that radiated from his aura had been extinguished, being replaced by a deep arrogance. And those blue eyes were the reflection of the coldness with which he handled himself.
How had he changed so much?
Had he even changed?
Maybe Roman was always like this, but he faked very well. Mox shook his head, he knew Roman, his Roman deeply. None of that could be faked. There was nothing but good intentions and a desire to help others in that heart. Roman was genuinely good. And that was felt in the aura that surrounded him. That's why he fell so madly in love with him.
This guy's aura only exuded arrogance and resentment. This guy was physically identical to Roman, but he didn't feel like him. It wasn't him at all.
Who was this man then?
Why was he usurping the image of the man Mox loved so much?
Roman got to his feet, making an enormous effort and trying to contain the pain he was feeling. Those cuffs had it restricted. But he didn't give up and now he was breathing heavily, and grunting, but standing.
"So what they said on the Retribution channel was true." One of the fighters indicated.
"It is the only true thing that has come out of the mouths of those traitors." Finn chimed in. "You saw it, Roman was trying to stop the leader and liberate this island. But our allies betrayed us."
A series of gossip began among the prisoners. Some believed and others did not.
"I don't know what to believe anymore, but you're right, you are the only one who can do something. You are a supersoldier." Tony nodded. "I am a doctor, and although I myself am injured, I will try to help your boyfriend, but in return I want you to get us all out of here alive."
"Look at him, he can't even stand straight." One of Tony's partners indicated. "He won't be able to save his boyfriend, he won't even be able to save himself. We will all die tonight."
"Maybe these idiots are right and I can't do anything for Ali." Roman glared at Finn. "But the demon can. Damn it, do something!" Roman began pounding his body against the metal bars of the cell.
"It doesn't work like that. I can't making him appear just because I want it to!" Finn yelled back. "Besides, I'm afraid I won't be able to control it, not without the Shaman's help."
"If you keep yelling the guards will come back." Tony was trying to calm them down.
"What doesn't work like that?" Roman kept crashing against the bars. "The damn demon was able to resurrect a man who was dead for 10 days. And he cannot save one who is alive!"
And Mox had enough of all this. This damn guy wasn't Roman and Mox was going to get the truth out. "You know what? I'm done."
And just like that, he lunged at Roman, sending him to the ground. Roman tried to shake him off, but it was impossible, this man was as strong as him. Which was absurd.
"Who the hell are you?" Mox screamed angrily.
"What is that guy doing?" Finn walked over to the bars of his cell.
"Mox calm down or the guards will return." Another fighter yelled. "He's a fucking supersoldier, you can't hurt him."
Mox smirked and then slammed his fist into Roman's face. Making the Samoan bleed from a split lip.
"He could hurt him, but that's impossible." Finn was engrossed.
Becky walked over to Finn. "You still don't get it."
Mox beat Roman mercilessly and the Samoan tried to move, but the handcuffs wouldn't let him. Plus, this guy was as strong as him. The prisoners shouted, encouraging Mox to beat up the super soldier, and others begged him to stop, that he was going to alert the guards.
"Roman, that man is Dean!" The samoan heard Finn yelling at him.
At that moment due to the riot, the door was opened, and the Retribution entered, weapons in hand. A shot was heard and at that moment, one of the screaming fighters fell to the ground, dead.
All the other cells fell into deep silence and Mox let go of Roman when he saw what his attack of rage had provoked. Roman moved, wiping the blood from his lip with his clothes. The Samoan glared at Mox, a feeling that Mox's blue eyes reflected as well.
"Prince Ali." T approached his injured ex-partner. "So naive, trying to free your father's island. You will die just like him, just like all your family, helplessly."
Roman was now looking at T with pure hatred. "I am going to torture you in such a cruel way, that you are going to beg me to kill you."
T walked up to Roman and kicked him. The Samoan just raised his eyebrow. T clenched his fists angrily, obviously an ordinary human couldn't hurt him.
At that moment Ric also came in and approached both of them. "Calm down T, you will have your revenge. They will all be executed tonight. And Roman, will be the first. We will do what Seth Rollins could not. And when the world sees our power, a new era will come. And Roman will once again be the martyr."
Ric spoke to the security team in the local language and they opened the first cells, handcuffing all the fighters, and leading them out of the facility.
Becky was looking at Mox, indicating that they should do something. Mox nodded slightly.
Roman looked at Mox again. Finn had yelled at him that this guy was Dean, the other super soldier, which explained why he had hurt him. Mox looked back at Roman. Then the Samoan glanced at Ali, then looked back at Mox, but the anger had drained from his gray eyes, replaced by a silent cry for help for the bleeding man.
Mox clenched his fists and lips. This man once loved him, they loved each other to the point of sacrificing their own lives for each other. And now… Roman begged him to save another man. Mox closed his eyes, Ali was not really to blame for any of this, so the auburn-haired man approached Ali's body to try to lift it. But Ric himself pointed a gun at him.
"Nothing against you boy. You are a very talented one and we really liked the show you gave with your teammates, but we need victims to add drama to what we are going to do. So leave the boy here, he is going to die anyway."
"Like the rest of us." Mox reached down and grabbed Ali in his arms, pretending to find it difficult, due to the punishment received by Ric's soldiers. "It doesn't matter if you execute me here trying to take away this poor idiot who is going to die anyway, or if you execute me in your great show of power display."
Ric smirked, he found Mox harmless, so he didn't shoot him. He just let the auburn-haired man carry Ali's body, and thanks to this, Mox wasn't handcuffed like everyone else.
Becky and Finn stayed together, Roman was helped by Tony so that he could walk despite the restrains that he had on his ankles and wrists.
Upon leaving the facility, the spectacle they saw was horrible. In the huge main square, which had a circular shape, still adorned with garlands and flowers of the celebration that was tried to carry out, there were all the citizens who had revealed themselves, in the failed coup attempt, all tied hands, in circular rows. Ready for execution. Women, men, teenagers even.
Mox had seen evil in Utopia, evil in the person he loved as a brother. Evil in the villains who were defeated in Utopia. And even he could see some evil in the eyes, now blue-gray, of the man who no longer knew if he was Roman or not...
But the rest of the planet seemed to be even worse. The evil level of these guys was a thousand times worse. If these guys succeeded in whatever they were up to, no one could stop them. Roman and Finn had said they were there to free these people and they had achieved nothing.
And, regardless of his own internal battle, regardless of all his doubts. Mox set out to arrest these guys. That would be his main mission now. He was going to stop them. Then he would take care of the Roman situation.
And like the fateful night of the battle against Lesnar, a light rain began to fall, announcing a coming storm. Several lightning bolts and thunder rumbled in the sky. And many clouds piled up over them. On one of the darkest nights he had ever seen.
Mox was holding Ali who was no longer moving, totally unconscious. His blood spilled on the ground, mixing with the raindrops that continued to fall.
"This is horrible, there is no way this man will be saved." Becky muttered.
"Again I will have to witness how a good man, who only wanted to save his birthplace, will die at the hands of villains." Finn clenched his fists, this time feeling the resentment, despair and rage run through his body and welcoming all those negative feelings. "But I no longer have a deal to offer to bring him back from the world of the dead."
Mox and Becky looked at him without understanding what he was talking about.
More clouds piled up in the sky and the rain got stronger. Several lightning bolts illuminated the place from time to time.
Mox and the others were lined up, from his point of view he began to memorize and calculate how he could neutralize these subjects, with the least possible impact on his friends. He had to be very careful.
He looked at the way the prisoners were distributed: they were placed in the front row, before the rebellious citizens. The auburn-haired man placed Ali on the ground, the young man hardly breathed. His lips were pale from blood loss. And he even continued to bleed.
T grabbed Ali's hair and threw it into Roman's arms, who was in the center of the square. Unable to do something, because of the restrains.
"The boss will be happy when he witnesses the power of this metal alloy." Ric smiled. "And when we transform the alloy into weapons... The world will enter into a new order."
The rain was coming down hard now, and the lightning bolts appeared one after another.
Roman brought his hands to Ali's face, touched his neck and placed his hands on the younger man's chest. And, for the first time since his resurrection, Finn saw deep sadness in the now blue eyes. But that feeling didn't last long, it was replaced by an anger Finn hadn't seen before.
"He is dead. They murdered him." Roman looked at Finn accusingly. "If you can't bring him back, at least let me get my revenge. We're going to finish what we came here to do. And this time, don't stop me from becoming the killer everyone thinks I am."
Finn closed his eyes and lightning struck the ground, very close to where they were. "I think this time, the one who will have to stop me, will be you."
"What do you poor idiots say? You can't do anything. We got a way to neutralize the super soldiers." Ric said confident. "In the end, Roman, you are nothing more than a lab rat, one we can restrain."
"In this world there are beings much more powerful than me." Roman looked at Ric and Retribution with pure hatred. "Whoever is in charge of all this is going to tremble with panic, when they see the magnitude of such power."
"You were so affected by the death of your little boyfriend, that you are saying stupid things." T scoffed at Roman.
A dense fog began to spread, darkening that place even more. So much so that they could hardly see anything.
"Mox, this place is cursed." Becky walked over to her friend. "Besides what Roman says doesn't make sense."
Several lightning bolts one after another kept falling. And the fog completely enveloped the place
The prisoners began to react and tried to escape. Retribution and Ric's army began firing, but nothing was visible. Hardly reflections of every time a lightning hit the ground.
Screams were heard, but they were not from the prisoners. More shots, Becky and Tony threw themselves to the ground, however, Mox only reached down and grabbed their hands, destroying the handcuffs, which unlike the ones Roman used, were made of ordinary metal.
"How is it possible?" Tony still didn't understand.
"Stay away from the sound of weapons." As always, Mox didn't explain anything.
"Who you really are?!" Tony insisted.
"Get out of here!" Mox answered. "I need both of you to be safe to get rid of those guys."
That said, Mox was lost in the mist. But contrary to the indications received, Becky was crawling towards where the bullets were heard.
"You are crazy!" Tony couldn't believe what she was doing.
"I don't know about you, but I'm not going to hide like a damsel waiting to be rescued." Becky indicated.
Tony just closed his eyes. It was obvious why Becky and Mox were so close. They were both crazy.
The fog began to dissipate, a strange being emerged from it. A creature with fearsome teeth, dark colors adorned his body and a spiny back. Although, the darkness did not help to distinguish that creature, the aura emanating from him was terrifying.
The rain was now torrential, more lightning were falling near that creature, but they did not hurt it, it seemed to be the source of its energy.
Around him, a good group of the men from Ric's army were sprawled on the ground, all dead, covered in blood that mingled with the water that now formed puddles. His weapons destroyed near them.
"What's that?" T said surprised.
"It's the Demon King." Roman smirked angrily.
"It doesn't matter who he is!" Ric screamed. "I want him dead!"
And at that moment the soldiers shot the demon, he dodged the bullets easily. Mox also appeared and began beating and disarming the soldiers. The fighters and the rebellious citizens stood up and although they were tied, they began to throw themselves on the soldiers and with the help of Mox who was neutralizing them.
The army was made up of a huge number of soldiers, but one by one, the Demon King was killing them, piercing their bodies with such brutality that they ended up in a stain of blood on the ground. Several of them put down their weapons and began to flee for their lives. Ric panicked.
"He is another super soldier." Ric said in awe.
"No, this is a more powerful being." T said fearfully. "We must escape from here."
"The bosses will kill us anyway if this mission fails." Ric clenched his fists.
"Well, we must escape from them too." T indicated. "Let the others be cannon fodder and we better go."
But they did not advance much. Mox was in front of them. T pointed his gun at him and fired.
But Mox dodged the shot and with one blow sent the man flying through the air.
"That thing is not a super soldier, but you are." Ric deduced the obvious.
Mox walked over to Ric. "Free Roman, now."
Ric was lost and he knew it. From his pockets he took out a small control and pressed a button. In the distance, Mox watched as the handcuffs restraining Roman, opened. Freeing the most powerful of the three super soldiers.
Roman just looked at Mox and nodded, leaving him to take care of Ric.
Ric backed away in terror. "You super soldiers are a threat, a plague. Perhaps, today I could not finish you, but certainly my boss will."
Mox grabbed the older one by the neck. "Then you will take me to your boss."
"Giving you that information will be my sentence to a slow and painful death, at his hands." Ric snarled.
"I can be persuasive too." Mox twisted one of Ric's arms.
The older man screamed in pain, Mox released him, and Ric began to squirm on the ground. Mox kicked one of his legs.
"Who runs all this and what is their purpose?" Mox asked again.
"As if you weren't going to kill me." Ric said between yells. "Why would I tell you?"
"I am not a murderer." Mox looked at him impassively.
"That's what you supersoldiers are..." Ric said in agony. "If not, look at Roman."
And Mox looked away from him and saw Roman, who was beating T nonstop. He would let him go at times, crawl for his life and catch him again to continue punishing him. He was torturing him deliberately and coldly.
And amid the rain, amid the chaos that surrounded him, Mox cleared all doubts from him. The man he saw now was not his Roman. The anger, the hatred, and the power that was inside him, was something Roman would never feel. And the way he enjoyed hitting that man. Like a cat letting go and recapturing its prey only to torture it, that wasn't Roman.
Ric's screams brought him back to reality. The villagers who had freed themselves had taken him prisoner.
"For many years you tortured these people, locked up on this island. Now they are going to take their well deserved revenge. " Mox let the villagers take care of Ric and the soldiers trying to flee. "I won't be a murderer today, but neither will they. Your death does not count as murder."
Mox sighed and looked around. On the one hand, there was that strange creature, killing all of the leader's army who could not flee. And on the other side was Roman, who continued to torture T.
"I told you that you were going to beg me to kill you." Roman said angrily. "But I still don't feel satisfied."
"It doesn't matter how many lives you take today. You will never feel satisfied, because none of that is going to give Ali back to you. He died and death is irreparable." T said agonizingly.
"I was dead myself, foe ten damn days. And someone decided, without consulting me, that I have to come back to life. They didn't even asked if I wanted to return to this shitty world." Roman put his foot on T's neck. "So, for some people... It is possible to return from the world of the dead. But you, you will never return."
And Roman kicked T's neck, breaking it and killing him, just as T had killed Ali.
At that moment he set out to search for the demon. Maybe he could still get Ali back, but the one he found in front of him was Mox.
"Were you dead for ten days?" Mox was looking at him with such anger. "What you say is absurd."
Roman was glaring at him as well. "It is absurd, but real. But to be honest, I don't give a fuck, if you don't understand... Dean."
Mox punched Roman in the face, sending him to the ground.
"My name is Mox."
Roman smirked. "In that, I agree with you. At least you could change your name and become someone else. Me? Well, you, Finn, everyone looks at me expecting to see the Roman you knew. I guess I should also change my name. Perhaps this way you all will understand that Roman, only resurrected his body. Wherever his soul is, I hope resting in peace. Because I am not that man. "
Roman stood up and walked past Mox, directly to where Ali's body was. There the Samoan crouched down. "Roman passed his bad luck at love to me. I guess that's my curse."
Roman held Ali in his arms and looked around at the demon.
"Mox!" Becky walked over to her friend. "That thing, he already finished with the army and now he's destroying everything. You must do something."
"There are so much people injured, I will try to attend to them." Tony joined them. "I don't know what you are, but try to work this out if you can. This tragedy has been too much."
Mox nodded and headed straight for the demon, that was now terrorizing the very villagers they were trying to save.
Mox ran up to hthe demon and threw himself at him. The villagers fled, but really Mox couldn't do much. The demon got rid of him so easily.
At that moment Becky approached Roman. "Mox is not going to be able to do it alone. You must help him."
"You are crazy. I can't let Finn stop being the devil. I need him to save Ali." Roman answered.
"Finn is that thing!" Becky said horrified.
"Yes, and I need him to stay that way to save Ali." Roman nodded. "I need you to please protect his body."
Becky didn't understand anything, but she nodded. She needed Roman to join Mox.
And Roman ran over to where the other super soldier was.
"You're finally going to help instead of taking revenge." Mox said sarcastically.
"I'm only here, to prevent him from going back to being a human." Roman told Mox firmly.
"Are you crazy!" Mox said angrily. "Whoever the demon is, we must stop him from keep being that thing."
"You don't understand anything." Roman reflected the same anger. "We are going to restrict him. But he must continue to be that powerful creature. Because I need him that way."
"Well when we restrict him, you will see me smash your little plans." Mox answered him.
And both put their guard up, because the demon was walking directly towards them.
