speedchamp1 back again! This story has an attachment on me, as I would do the same as what my OC is doing. I mean, if your best friends died, wouldn't you look for every possible way to get then back?! Anyway, I will stop babbling like an idiot and let you read this story. Enjoy!
Alex was rarely seen from that point onward. He was always in the town library, looking for clues about the mystical machine that would bring his friends back.
C'mon, there has to be something somewhere! Alex thought with frustration. He was flipping through a history book on Adventure Bay, looking for a way to find or even get a clue on where to start looking. Then, something caught his eye.
Aha! Here it is! The Revival Ritual takes place about 2 miles south of Foggy Bottom on the midnight of the 13th each month. Alex read in his mind You can select any number of people to revive, but it will cost a person's soul. Okay, I found the location, but now... now I have to brave the storm and sacrifice myself.
"Alex? Are you in here?" A voice called.
"Who's that?" Alex called into the silence.
Around the corner walked Alex's friend, Ella. Ella was a golden retriever who had a soft spot for Alex. Seeing him act like this scared her quite a lot. She was scared that he was going to do something irreversible.
"Hey Alex." Ella said. She walked over to Alex and sat down beside him. "What'cha doing?"
"Oh, nothing. Just reading on how to bring them back." Alex said back. He always felt calmer around Ella. He didn't know what it was, he just did.
"Alex, I want you to know something. You mean a lot to me, and I don't want you sacrificing yourself to bring back them. I- I won't be able to live without you." Ella said, as she leaned into Alex.
"Oh, Ella. Listen, I don't want to do this, either, but listen, seeing as I am going to a different place soon. I wanted to tell you something." Alex said, leaning into Ella.
"What's that?" Ella asked.
"I really like you. I've liked you since I joined the patrol." Alex revealed to her.
"Aww, thanks cutie." Ella said looking up to Alex with a smile. She gave him a kiss on the nose, which was rewarded with a kiss back. "I'll really miss you when you're gone." Ella said. She got up and walked to the library door. "See you in the next life." she said with a smile. Ella walked out the library.
The next day
Alex was going up the elevator alone. He had scheduled a meeting with Ryder to talk about his findings. Ryder was alone, looking at two photos. One of Marshall, one of Everest. "Hey Ryder." Alex said softly. He was pretty sure that Ryder was still shaken up over the loss of the pups, and to be honest, so was Alex and the rest of the pups.
"Hey Alex." Ryder said back. "How are you?"
"Feeling pretty good, I found something!" Alex said wagging his tail. He didn't know if Ryder would accept the ritual, but Alex wasn't waiting for permission. He found it; he was going to do it.
"Oh, what did you find?" Ryder asked.
"I found a way to get Marshall and Everest back!" Alex said happily.
"What?! No way! You have to be kidding!" Ryder said. He was on the verge of having a happiness breakdown, he was going to get his pups back!
"But... there's a catch. I have to give up my soul to get them back." Alex said. Ryder's expression changed from a happy one to one of deep sadness.
"Alex... You- You what? I don't want you to go!" Ryder said, now with tears in his eyes.
"Hey, listen. I only joined what... two months ago? It is going to be all right. Can you do me one favor though?" Alex said. Now he was feeling sad, realizing that his time with the pups, Ryder, and everyone else was coming to an end.
"What's the favor?" Ryder asked.
"Can you bring the pups 2 miles south of Foggy Bottom tomorrow night? Because that's when the ritual takes place." Alex said.
Ryder, who was just about to cry, pulled Alex into a hug, the final one they would share. "Can do." was all that Ryder said.
Even this part choked me up. PLEASE leave reviews, I often run out of ideas and don't post for a while, so any suggestions, please leave them in the reviews! I am going on a hiatus, exams and assignments coming up for school, so for a while, speed out!
