Chapter 3:

It was late into the afternoon when Bella noticed that Jacob had been leading her on a longer trail than usual; her feet were close to blistering because of the continuous pressure applied there. She had even pointed it out to him.

"You're really trying to tire me out here Jake, aren't you?"

Jacob grinned at her, "Something like that. We can head back to mine now, if you want. I'll be honest, I forgot how quickly humans get tired."

Bella rolled her eyes, "How gracious of you to consider the needs of a weak human such as myself." She sarcastically said.

"You can use sarcasm all you want Swan, but if I hadn't been here, you would've fallen over at least five times already. And that's a generous approximation if you ask me."

This is why Bella got on so well with Jacob. His light-hearted humour never failed to crack a small smile even on her worst days. He was her medicine for the days she felt most sick. Bella hoped she had a similar effect on Jacob – that he saw her as a relief from any unpleasant parts of his life. It was strange that he was the same skinny child she used to make mud pies with and commit childish pranks with her. It was strange that he was now undoubtedly her best friend now (God forbid Alice ever hears her say that) who was a source of her happiest moments as an adolescent. It was clear to Bella that Fate wanted them to cross paths again – that it was their destiny to drift in and out each other's lives.

So, when Bella looked back up at the sky she frowned, it had promised to be light blue, crystal-clear skies in the afternoon. Dreary rain clouds were barging their way up the horizon, threating the peace of the calming sky. Bella could have sworn that the weather forecast this morning had promised that it would remain dry all afternoon. Huh. Perhaps Fate had changed its mind.

XXX

Isolated. Jacob's bright red wooden house stood out like a blot on a picturesque landscape painting. It's stark colouring was a red flag amongst the calm green forest which surrounded it. The roof's unusual bending shape was a by-product of not being replaced even after years of exposure to harsh weather. The sky had almost completely darkened over, an unusual sight for an early August day which usually promised bright skies regardless of Fork's preference for wet weather. Strangely, it had not started to rain just yet but the rain clouds above them served as a threat of what was to come.

By the time they had reached the porch of Jacob's house Bella felt completely drained from the trek. Naturally, Bella was already tired from her busy work schedule, but the physical exhaustion only added general sense of tiredness. Next time Bella was at work she promised herself to pick up a pair of discounted hiking boots to avoid ruining another pair of shoes like the poor battered Converse she foolishly considered appropriate. It was becoming apparent to Bella that she has never been good at judging a situation – hindsight was truly her best friend.

Jacob asked her to remove her shoes before entering – apparently Billy recently lectured him on the importance of keeping mud out of the house – so Bella absentmindedly threw them just outside the front door before following him inside. As goosebumps had begun to cover her arms, she was grateful that the house still retained some heat. Curiously, she'd been to this house many times in the past – normally when Charlie was over for a game – but it seemed a lot more… different today. Bella couldn't place it. Perhaps, it was the absence of TV noise and grown men jovially shouting that made her feel uneasy.

Jacob entered shortly after Bella, closing and silently locking the front door behind him. He noticed that Bella was distracted by the new photo on the table in the middle of the hallway.

"Emily took it last month." Jacob explained. It was a picture of all of the pack Emily had sneakily taken at the BBQ. Bitterly, Jacob remembered that Bella had declined his invitation to join them.

"Seth doesn't even look like a child anymore." Bella softly remarked.

Neither do I. Jacob refrained from pointing out. "I'll take your jacket Bells."

Bella shrugged of the denim jacket that Alice openly detested and handed it over to Jacob. Whilst he presumably went to put it in the back room, she ventured into the living room. Noticeably, next to the main sofa was a large gym bag with a DVD for a movie called, 'Due Revenge,' placed on top. So that's the movie Jacob was on about.

On the table in front of the sofa was some kitchen roll and two cups of stale water. Without coasters she noted. Next, Bella looked at the clock just above the TV. Hmm. She'd need to leave soon if she was going to have enough time to make dinner before Charlie got back from work.

"Does the movie look action-y enough for you? Jacob suddenly asked which made Bella jump a little. "Scared already Bells? The movie hasn't started yet. You can always hold my hand if it gets too much for you." Jacob jokingly said.

Bella seemed apprehensive. "I don't know if I can stay for the movie Jake." His smile fell. "I need to get back for Charlie – to make dinner."

"Why don't you just be honest with me Bells?"

"…What are you on abo- "

"-The Cullens have set limits for how long you can spend with me. Don't lie."

Well, they haven't yet. Although Edward has probably considered it.

Jacob continued, "Well I – I won't stand for it Bells," He was getting increasingly angrier. "I brought you back here because – because I wanted to tell you how I really felt. The long walk, the movie and – and I even got you this." Jacob opened his hand to show a delicate charm to go with the bracelet he already gifted Bella. "Because I love you, Bella. I love you! Is that such a crime. It's like the universe is trying to punish me by making the girl I love be infatuated with my – our natural enemy. How can your heartbeat for something that doesn't even have a pulse? My heart races for you Bells. It races. To the point where I sometimes feel like I can't breathe. I need you. I need you to love me. To return the feelings I have for you." Jacob paused to breathe. "Please Bells, please tell me you feel the same way. You don't even need to feel as strongly – we can work on that. But I need to know that the door is at least open ajar. Then we can go on from there."

Okay, so the night hadn't gone exactly how Jacob wanted – although it could still be salvaged. If not, the contingency plan was still an option.

Shaking, Bella said, "I can't believe you – I – I – We already spoke about this today. I remember you being their Jake, weren't you listening?" She was holding in a sob, "I already told you how I feel – I love Edward, not you – not you in that way. But you keep making this hard Jake. You make it hard for me to be friends with you. Next time, when – if I come to see you again it's going to be hard to ignore Edward – he warned me that you felt this way. But I brushed it off, Jake, because I thought we'd moved past this Jake. I thought my friendship was enough for you – I – I – I guess I was wrong." By the end of her outburst Bella found it hard to control her breathing. She found it hard to look at Jacob who looked like a kicked puppy throughout her talking. He started shaking.

Bella couldn't stand to look at Jacob's hurt face anymore at the fear she would redact her words, so she decided now would be the best time to take her leave. But as she went to pass Jacob, who was still leaning against the door frame, she felt a resistance. His arm. It was placed across the door like a gated crossing. Except, Bella was unaware of how much the toll cost.

"Let me go Jake, I just want to go home." Faintly, Bella asked as she was still shaken up about their conversation.

"You're making a mistake, Bella," Jacob said not looking Bella in the eyes. Bella noticed that Jacob's right arm had suddenly been placed on the other side of the door frame. Entrapping Bella between both arms. "We could still turn this around. You still have time to choose me."

His words sounded desperate, he knew that, but Jacob was on his last straw. Tonight, would be his only chance to make his move and it wasn't happening. She wasn't returning his feelings. She didn't appreciate how thoughtful he had been. She was making it harder.

Well, they always said actions speak louder than words.

Without warning Jacob closed the gap between them. Their bodies only inches away from connecting. His right hand snaked down to Bella's hip and gripped it tightly. Meanwhile, Jacob's left arm cupped the back of Bella's head to gently force it forward. Bending down to her height, Jacob planted a rough kiss on her lips. She'd lost the privilege of a more romantic one when Bella tried to break his heart. The kiss wasn't reciprocated. All the effort was done on Jacob's behalf which he found disappointing. Hoping to encourage Bella to indulge herself he bit down playfully on her bottom lip before inserting his tongue into her mouth. It didn't engage her, much to his dismay.

Reluctantly, he broke away from the kiss to give them both chance to catch their breath. He knew she would be angry. He knew it. But still he'd never seen her face so aggressively sharp. Her eyes were narrowed at him but she was betrayed slightly by the salty tears still leaked out.

"How could you?" She said so quietly that Jacob wasn't entirely sure he didn't imagine it. Her small, pale hands tried to push the arm that was barricading her in but to no avail. "Why won't you just let me go." She pleaded.

To her surprised, the guarded arm was relinquished from duty allowing her to slip past. But as she skittered down the hallway Jacob realised it still wasn't over. If she left now, she would never return. That was obvious to him. So, all he had left was his contingency plan. It was a desperate, last resort but could provide fruitful results, Jacob believed, if he executed it correctly.

Just as Bella was about to open the front door her heart sank as two warm strong arms held her back.

Wrapping his arms around her Jacob lifted her off the ground and started walking back to the living room.

Bella started shouting at him, but he tuned out to what she was saying. He wasn't really thinking about anything. Once in the living room he dropped her down in a sitting position at the very end of the sofa. Bringing one of his legs up to lay across Bella's lap to prevent her standing up. This allowed him time to lean over the side arms of the sofa so he could rifle around in the gym bag next to them.

Bella was panicking. This wasn't a situation she had ever expected to be in, let alone trying to escape from her best friend. Despite her frenzied efforts she couldn't budge the weight and strength of Jacob's leg. He didn't even seem to hear her pleading.

Not a moment later, Jacob's head remerged from the side of the sofa. In his right arm was a length of old rope he had found earlier in the shack but was keeping ready in case this scenario occurred. Ignoring Bella's pleas, he used both arms to force hers back – tying them uncomfortably tight behind her.

She started screaming. Bella couldn't remember the last time she screamed; it wasn't something she made a habit of. But she hoped – desperately hoped – someone would hear her.

Again, Jacob was keeping pressure on Bella's lap using his leg but this time he was slightly twisted to face the table behind them. Quickly, he ripped four squares from the kitchen roll and dunked them in the stale water left on the table. Next, he ringed out any excess water before moulding it into a ball. In one hand he held the wet paper ball and in the other he picked up on of Billy's bandanas that was on the floor. Jacob seized the opportunity when Bella's mouth opened to scream again. He shoved the wet ball in before placed the front of the bandana between her lips – trapping the ball inside. After that he reached behind the back of her head and tied the bandana.

"I needed to do it," Jacob started to explain, "If I didn't tie your arms back, you'd break your hands again trying to hit me."

She looked at him with pleading eyes.

"Okay Bells I'm going to be honest with you – I know that you being with him makes it hard for you to form a romantic connection with me because you feel like its cheating – and because you're a good girl you'd want to be loyal to your boyfriend. Not that the bloodsucker deserves that consideration."

Her breathing was becoming more rapid and shallow.

"This was my last resort – my last option really. I'm offering you a unique scenario Bells. Me putting you in this position leaves you in a position to indulge yourself without guilt. I'll be instigating everything, not you. Therefore, you're not really cheating on him if you think about it – cuz you can't really do anything about it. I know you'll find it hard to begin with, but I promise you you'll enjoy it."

Bella had zoned in and out from what Jacob was saying. Her first thought was that Jacob was going to kill her – which was something she thought she'd never have to fear about Jacob. Then she started worrying about the war between the Cullens and the Quileutes if he killed her. How Edward would blame himself. How Charlie would be left on his own. Even about how Alice would feel guilty about not seeing this future. But what Jacob was saying didn't suggest he wanted to kill her – not yet at least. No. This was something else. And normally people would feel relief at the prospect that their life wasn't in danger – but the realisation of what Jacob's words meant sent chills down her spine.

This must be a nightmare. It simply must be. Any second now I'll wake up in Edward's arms.

Quickly, her wishful thinking was replaced by feelings of nausea as she felt an unpleasant sensation. Jacob's impossibly large warm hands were groping her breasts in an unsavoury manner. She had to swallow the need to be sick as she witnessed her best friend violate her. Lifting her head to the ceiling in disgust Bella started to half hope the ceiling would collapse on them.

It turned him on – the way she threw her head back in perceived pleasure. Exposing her lovely neck to him. Was it an invitation? Hovering over Bella's lap he launched an attack of kisses from the top of her neck down to her collarbone. There his tongue lingered – moving in a circular motion. He felt her shake a little beneath him. Redirecting his attention back to her breasts, he'd leave her shirt on a little while longer, he decided, as they weren't in too much of a hurry. So, he returned to gently groping and squeezing them as Bella whimpered underneath her gag.

She had felt so helpless underneath him. Despite her attempts of trying to struggle out from under his grasp Jacob was too heavy and too strong to overpower. Time seemed to be agonisingly slow as he continued to fondle her. Bella was positioned so that she could still see the clock above the TV – he'd been violating her for only ten minutes but to Bella it felt like an eternity. It seemed that her only hope of escaping was if God himself struck Jacob dead with a lightning bolt.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

Her prayers were answered, sort of, when Jacob's landline started to ring.

Jacob groaned. Obviously annoyed that his big night was being interrupted. "I'll be back soon," He promised.

With that Jacob's heavy presence was removed from Bella's lap as he went to answer the phone. Critically, Bella started to think of a plan of action. She knew that the phone distraction wasn't going to buy her a lot of time.

Phone. Phone. Phone.

Frantically, Bella started searching the back pockets of her jeans for her phone.

Then I'll call the Cullen residence. No wait, they can't enter La Push. Ah. Charlie? No, last time Jacob kissed you without your consent Charlie merely congratulated him.

It didn't matter who she was going to call because it quickly dawned on Bella that her phone wasn't in her jean pockets at all. It was in her jacket… that she gave to Jacob which he put in the back room. The landline is also in the back room. Not worth the risk, she quicky decided. With no other option, Bella started sprinting to the front door high on adrenaline. Although her hands were tied behind her back, she knew she had enough mobility to open from behind. Her hope was shattered when she realised that Jacob must've bolted the door when it didn't open. The lock was too high up for her short arms.

"What are you doing Bells?" Jacob asked suddenly. He was standing in the middle of the hallway with one eyebrow raised. "Haven't I satisfied you yet." He remarked as he stared at Bella's breasts. They felt sore and bruised after his constant manhandling. "I saw the way your back arched under my touch, how you shivered when I kissed your neck. Don't worry – I'll continue to uphold my promise – I'll pretend to be the bad guy lusting after a weak defenceless woman, and you can continue pretend not to enjoy the touch of another man."

Bella had to swallow back some sick again.

He lifted her up bridal style which gave her the opportunity to try and kick him. Before the kick could make contact, he tightly clamped her legs together with one of his hands. If he put any more pressure on it felt as if her leg would break like a piece of glass. Carrying her over to his bedroom he tried to minimise the damage he'd cause to Bella, but she was struggling around in his arms too much.

The room looked like any other teen boy's bedroom. A mess. Clothes were just strewn all over the floor without a care. Plates and half-finished drinks were still left on his nightstand. The bed, however, was neatly made which contrasted to the otherwise feral looking room.

He placed her down, so Bella's top half was laying front on the bed whilst her knees were still touching the wooden floorboards. She could feel Jacob roughly yank her legs together before he tied them up with rope. Bella's heart started to race even more when she felt his fingers at the waist band of her jeans. A tearing sound soon followed. Jacob had torn the jeans off her body as if it were paper.

Maybe Jacob was psychic. Every time he'd daydreamed about being intimate with Bella, he'd always pictured her in black panties. And here she was wearing them – it was like his dreams were coming true.

"As much as I'm enjoying our time together," He started, "I'm still a little bit hurt you tried to run away Bells. So, I believe a small punishment is in order."

It hurt so much. He was spanking her, hard. So hard Bella could hardly think straight. And she cried out after every hit.

Jacob would be lying if said he'd didn't immensely enjoy spanking Bella – the little moan she did against her gag when his hand made contract; how her ass wobbled ever so slightly. It motivated him to move at a slightly faster pace.

Eventually, Jacob decided that Bella had had enough punishment. He lifted her onto the bed so that she was facing the ceiling. Subsequently, he redid the restraints – tying each arm and leg to a different bed post so that she was spread eagle. Bella was still wearing a shirt – and panties – but was smart enough to know it wouldn't remain that way for very long.

He crawled onto the bed, hovering just over her body in an effort to not crush her under his weight. Carefully, he undid the buttons to her shirt like it was a Christmas present he'd always asked for. Slowly, a matching black bra came into view. His excitement grew even more. Ripping away the rest of the shirt he got to work kissing every square inch of skin that was expose to him. She started mumbling beneath the gag again.

Once he'd ripped her bra away Jacob couldn't help but ogle at the sight of her exposed breasts. They began to shake as Bella moved more violently beneath him. At first, he groped them to feel how soft her guarded area was. With his thumb he began to make brush gently over her nipples before giving them tight squeeze which caused Bella to squeal.

She noticed how his hands were slowly traveling down to her private region. All she could think about was how much she must be disappointing Edward. Tears were pooling around her eyes. Her first time was meant to be with Edward on their wedding night, not with Jacob – and especially not like this. Would Edward even want her after this night?

A tingling sensation brought Bella back to reality as she felt an incredibly warm finger rubbing over the part of the panties which guarded her intimate region. She found it hard to breathe. Before she knew it, her woman hood was exposed to the world as her final piece of clothing was discarded on the floor.

Embarrassment. Pain. Shame.

Jacob may still be wearing his shorts but that didn't stop him penetrating Bella with his fingers. She felt the first one go in. Her body enjoyed it, but mentally she found it torturous. Another one entered, double the pleasure and twice the disgust. Her face flushed red.

He liked the sound of her whimpering as he pumped his fingers in and out. "Don't resist it Bells. Remember, I'm not judging you. I'm doing this to pleasure you."

The rhythmic pumping had gone on for so long and Bella's core felt cold when he removed his fingers. Bella knew the worst part was about to come, but a little part of her still dared to hope that Jacob would stop himself at the last second. As Jacob removed his shorts and underwear it occurred to Bella that she'd never seen a penis before – asides in biology textbooks – and the sight of it disgusted her.

"Are you a virgin?" Jacob suddenly asked.

A tear ladened Bella just stared back at him.

He sighed, "Bells, if you don't answer me then I'll have to assume you aren't. If you are a virgin I need to know – so I can be gentle enough to ease you into it."

Bella found it ironic that Jacob could even suggest that he was capable of being gentle considering how bruised and battered she felt.

"Are you a virgin?"

Reluctantly, she nodded. But her whole body was shaking with fright.

Jacob smiled to himself. It felt right that he would be the one to take her virginity.

He positioned himself at the entrance to her womanhood, "Okay, Bells I'm about to enter. It will hurt to begin with – especially as you need to accommodate to – my size – but once we get going, I promise you'll enjoy it."

Then he entered. It felt like her whole world was on fire. So much pain.

Slowly rocking in a rhythmic pace Jacob was trying to consider Bella's needs over his own. Although, as soon as he was satisfied that she was 'ready' Jacob didn't hesitate to significantly up the pace.

It was at this point that Bella became fully detached from what was happening to her physical body. Essentially, she was hiding in her own mind. Not fully processing the gravity of the situation. She was as still as a lifeless doll – even when he climaxed inside of her. Her brain only focused on reality again when it senses the absence of heat inside of her as Jacob removed himself. Looking particularly pleased with himself, Jacob started speaking to her like some twisted form of after care. Eventually, he got off the bed and shut the door behind him.

She didn't know where he'd gone. She didn't really care. Still tied to the bed, Bella succumbed to exhaustion.

XXX

Jacob had been gone for no longer than an hour. She was pretending to be asleep by the time Jacob re-entered the bedroom. With the little willpower she had left she devised a plan to get out of this hell hole as quickly as possible. Bella felt him staring at her as she 'slept' and he dropped something on the nightstand beside her. An uncomfortably warm thumb began to brush against the top part of her cheek, but she stayed absolutely still. Then she felt his hand traveling down the top of her body to her feet – only lingering ever so slightly over her breasts as he went. Abruptly, her right leg was jerked forward slightly as, she assumed, Jacob was messing with the restraints. The same occurred with her left. She didn't dare open her eyes.

Not a moment later she was compelled to look because the restraints trying her arms to the bed were being readjusted so they were behind her back again. She looked up at him, pretending to be confused as if he'd just woken her up.

Softly, he said, "Hey Bells."

She tried her best to keep a neutral face as she stared back at him, although Bella felt like she was going to go into nuclear meltdown. Jacob sat down on the opposite side of the bed before pulling Bella over, so she straddled his lap. Her newly freed legs wrapped around his back. It would be too foolish, she decided, to try to run now because of how restrained she still was. The risk wasn't worth the reward.

Hot, breathy kisses were being placed on her neck again – much to her displeasure – as Jacob took advantage of their new position.

He paused before saying, "I'm going to take your gag off. Don't start screaming at me." Jacob grinned forcefully. Reaching around the back of her head to untie the bandana before holding his hand out for Bella to spit out the kitchen roll. Her mouth was a drought.

Leaning forward, he kissed Bella gently on the lips – he was particularly surprised when she started to return the kiss with enthusiasm.

"I know tonight has been rough on you Bells," he started, "but I think it was the right thing to do. You enjoyed it right Bells?"

She quietly replied, "Yeah, Jake, it was great." The response made his heart soar with happiness.

"It finally feels like my life is good again," He sighed in relief. "And don't worry about the Cullen's. Now you're my girlfriend the pack will be expected to protect you."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, Bells, you sort of cheated on a bloodsucker – I hardly think they'll be too forgiving. But I promised I'd protect you didn't I." He grinned to himself again, "God Bells you have no idea how happy I am. You're finally my girlfriend. I've been looking forward to this moment since you moved back here."

Suddenly, his grin vanished. "I can hear the pack calling me," He explained as he undid the rope tying her arms together. "I promise I'll be back as soon as possible. You can go back to sleep in my bed and I can drive you back later. I've left some of my sister's clothing on the nightstand that you can change into," he looked sheepishly at her torn clothes on the floor. "Can I get a kiss from my girlfriend before I leave?" He asked expectantly.

Holding back yet another urge to vomit Bella leant forward to give Jacob a passionate kiss. He looked surprised by her forwardness.

"I'll be back soon." He shouted as he left out the front door leaving Bella all alone in the house.

Her plan worked. Albeit Jacob now thinks they're dating, but it seemed like the only option that wouldn't lead to Jacob holding Bella captive or worse – killing her.

Okay, what next?

Obviously, she needed to escape. Where she was going to go and how she was going to get there was the big problem. There was no way in Hell that Bella was going to wait around for Jacob to drive her so walking would need to suffice. Despite the fact her body felt like an ancient decaying ruin. If she went back home, it would be likely Jacob would come back for her at some point but if she went to the Cullens they'd want an explanation.

No time to think. Just get moving.

Agony. It was the first time she stood since the incident and the discomfort was barely manageable. Her wrists and ankles were particularly sore because of rope burn. Parts of Bella's arms and thighs were sensitive to touch which indicated some nasty bruises would form over the next few days. However, it was the pain between her legs which particularly felt rough and she was becoming increasingly aware of the pool of dried blood sticking to her upper thighs. It took Bella all of her concentration to not focus too much on her injuries and try to move forward.

Hastily, she took the shirt and trousers that Jacob laid on the nightstand and threw them on. There was no underwear provided Bella noticed, although wearing one of the twin's bras would really make for a dire situation. So, Bella was wildly underdressed for the stormy weather outside, but it would have to suffice; there was no way in Hell she'd stay in this place any longer than necessary.

Limping to the front door Bella sighed in relief because Jacob had left the door unlocked; her arms felt too weak to reach that high up. Next, she forcefully opened the door to be met with the sight of heavy rain. Not ideal. Quickly, Bella put on her Converse left out on the porch not even allowing enough time to tie the laces.

Then she ran.

And she ran hard.

Bella's lungs were begging for relief from the unusual strain she was putting them under. Luckily, the adrenaline pumping around was enough to muffle the pleas from her battered body. The feral rain penetrated her skin like frozen daggers as she tried to distance herself from Jacob's home.

Visibility was so reduced that Bella wasn't entirely sure she was heading on the right route to the main road but the increasing distance from Jacob was enough to spur her on. Eventually, the power of adrenaline was beginning to wane. That fiery pain between her legs was becoming harder and harder to ignore. Bella was also physically exhausted, not only from the incident but from the long hiking trail from earlier.

Then she saw it, even through the coming darkness and vicious rain, the main road was just ahead. Relief, so much relief.

Just keep going.

She made it too the edge, not too dissimilar to the side of the forest Edward had left her at in the morning. Her heart panged. Bella felt too disorientated to know which direction to head. It was at that point that Bella's weakened body felt too drained to continue running. As she went to walk forward instead her knee gave in and Bella plummeted to the cold, wet ground.

Manoeuvring one of her arms out Bella attempted to regain her composure, but the muscles in her arm were howling for her to stop. Weakly, her arm fell down by her side. As she laid on the ground, drenched and freezing, she thought hard to remain conscious. Although, her efforts were in vain as Bella's eyes became heavy. She became faintly aware of the sound of someone walking towards her, but she had no adrenaline to open her eyes. The last thing she heard before she blacked out was someone calling out to her.

"Bella?"

A concerned, yet familiar male voice asked.
