Luz looked at the envelope and opened it. She looked through it and her eyes widened.

"The Emperor wants to see me!" She panicked.

Luz got up and started pacing back and forth. It took Lilith ten minutes before she could get Luz to sit down.

"Luz, calm down, everything will be fine."

"My mom is the most wanted criminal in the Isles! What if he wants me in order to capture her?!"

"I won't let that happen!" Lilith said, "I will fight him, I will risk petrification if it means that you're safe."

"Aunt Lily-"

"I mean what I said, I will do anything to make sure you are safe." Lilith said, taking the letter, "It says to be there in the morning. We can worry about it then, for now, I want to see how good you've gotten at magic."

Luz stood up and started to walk towards the door.

"Okay."

Lilith grabbed the back of Luz's jacket and pulled her back.

"Maybe you should put your cloak back on before going outside. Isn't that the point of the Day Walker's Cloak?"

"Oh, yeah." Luz said, sheepishly.

Luz took her new jacket off and put the cloak back on. She went to the door and opened it. Lilith smiled, before walking outside to watch. At the castle, Golden Guard walked up to the Emperor and kneeled.

"My Emperor, the letter has been delivered."

"Excellent. I knew I could trust you." Belos said, "Now all I need is for my Hunter to arrive."

"What are my new orders, Sir?" Golden Guard asked.

"Just wait. I need to see how effective this hunter is at killing vampires."

Later that afternoon, Boscha and Skara led Kat, Amelia, and Amity to the treasure shack. The second they got in, Boscha and Skara lowered their cowls.

"Finally, I'm tired of getting cooked by the sun." Boscha said.

"Okay, so, will you explain to us what happened to you two?" Kat asked.

"Well, remember when there was a curfew a few weeks ago, because of someone causing panic and destruction?" Skara asked.

"Yeah, it was all over the news, how are we not supposed to remember it?" Amelia asked.

"Well, we were out a little close to curfew and we were caught by the vampire that was doing it." Boscha said, "We were... sorta... bitten."

"So, now we're vampires." Skara said, giving a small smile, showing her teeth.

Kat and Amelia flinched at Skara's teeth. They were more preoccupied with getting them blood earlier, so they didn't notice Skara's teeth before.

"Wow, those are some serious teeth." Kat said.

"Got to keep my prey down somehow." Skara said.

"Okay... uh, Amity, how did you know about this, again?"

"Well, Luz got bitten by the vampire, then we got together, and then these two got bit, then they tried to kill me, and here we are." Amity said.

"You and Luz got together!" Kat and Amelia said.

"Yeah, and she still hasn't bit me." Amity said, angrily.

"Get over it, Blight." Boscha groaned, "She's been asking me to do it for weeks. I don't even know why she wants to be bitten."

"I have my reasons."

While they were talking, Skara's mom was cleaning near Skara's room. She was retired, but she used to be the best musician on the Boiling Isles, making almost a hundred million dollars a year. She saw Skara's door slightly opened and decided to take a quick peak. She saw that most of the paper was gone.

"That girl and her matches."

Skara always has a thing about burning failed song ideas. She saw one paper that seemed to avoid Skara's wrath. She picked it up and held in her hand.

"Should I?" She asked, "I just want to see what her song idea was, but I know that her songs are basically like a diary to her. One small peak won't hurt, right?"

She uncrumpled that paper and started to read it. She gasped after a couple seconds of reading.
