Skara opened the door to her house, wanting to get out of the sun. She was barely up the stairs when her parents called her. She walked down the stairs and into the main room, where her parents were on the couch.
"Did I do something wrong?" Skara asked.
"No... no, you didn't." Rebecca said, "We just wanted to talk to you."
Skara noticed the tone in her mom's voice and got a bad feeling.
"W-w-what did you want to talk about?" Skara asked, nervously.
"Skara, you've been hiding something." Marcus said.
Skara swallowed a lump in her throat. She had a feeling she knew where this was going.
"Did... did I miss a paper?" Skara asked.
"Yes." Rebecca said.
Skara looked down and crossed her arms. She's usually more careful than this. She let out a breath (Don't ask how she did that, even though she's dead) allowing her teeth to show, unintentionally. Her mom kneeled down and placed her hands on Skara's shoulder's.
"Please, we aren't mad, just talk to us. Let us help you." Rebecca said, "How long have you been keeping this a secret?"
Skara closed her eyes.
"Almost a month."
She felt a hand touch her cheek and she looked up at her mom.
"Skara, why would you hide this?"
"I... I was afraid." She said, tears beginning to fall, "I was afraid you would hate me. That you would chase me away."
Rebecca hugged Skara as she cried. Marcus joined the hug, everything seemed to be fine... until Skara felt last night's dinner start to come up. She broke from the hug and ran to the nearest trash can. Rebecca kneeled down as Skara emptied her stomach. She rubbed Skara's back and looked at her husband, who just gave her a sad look. Rebecca got a wet cloth and went back over to Skara when she was done throwing up. She wiped Skara's mouth and looked at her.
"Skara, we would never chase you away. We love you, regardless of what you are."
"Promise?" Skara asked.
"I promise." She said, "You are our daughter, nothing will change that."
Skara hugged her mom and everything was calm... until something broke through the window. The person tackled her dad and hit him in the back of the head, knocking him out. He attacked Skara's mother and was about to do the same when Skara grabbed them. She tossed them to the ground and hissed at them. The person got up and pulled out a stake. She ran at her and Skara used her speed to avoid it. She shoulder checked him and he stumbled backwards. Skara grabbed the arm and pulled it behind their back.
"You are either going to leave this house or I'll toss you out myself." Skara said.
"Try it, Leech." He growled.
He turned around, managed to get Skara off him, and kicked her to the ground. He stepped on her neck and tried to stake her. Skara grabbed his wrist and moved her hands so his wrist snapped. He dropped the stake and screamed as he held his hand. Skara grabbed his shirt collar and pulled him down. She punched him and he landed next to her. Skara got up and grabbed him again. She punched him again and the time, she didn't stop. She went for another one and but he pulled out something and it started glowing. Skara felt her skin burn and she screamed in pain. She fell to the ground and he grabbed the stake again. This time, he was stopped by Skara's mom. She grabbed his wrist and he shoved her off. Skara saw her mom get hurt and saw red. She sat up and bit his neck. He screamed in pain and slowly went limp. When Skara finished, she tossed the corpse down and then realized... she just killed someone. She fell to her knees and started crying. She's killed a lot of animals, but taking the life of a witch... she has a different kind of blood on her hands. Her parents got up and walked over to her. They hugged her, not letting go until she was finished crying.
