Skara felt herself get weak as the vampire hunter pulled the stake out of her chest.
"That was easier than I thought." He said, "Of course, you are the weakest, after all. What are you going to do without any back up?"
He dropped Skara to the ground and looked at her body. He began to make a spell circle.
"No point in leaving any evidence. A simple fire spell should deal with that." He said.
Before he could finish the circle, he was hit in the back of the head. He growled and looked behind. He saw the mysterious man, holding his hooked staff.
"Don't touch her." He said.
"What are you going to do about it, kid?" The hunter said.
"Me? I'm not going to do anything." He said, "My... friend on the other hand."
Before the hunter could say anything, a large pair of jaws slammed against him, dozens of razor sharp teeth cutting though the hunter's body. With one move with the head, the hunter went down the throat of the Surian. The man patted his mount on the leg.
"Good boy, Jho." He said before going over to Skara, "Okay, it looks like the guy missed her heat by a couple inches. I can save her, but I need to get her to safety as soon as possible."
He picked her up and Jho lowered his body so the man could put Skara on him, before getting on himself.
"Let's go, boy."
In another part of the Isles, Amity looked at the large door in front of her. Luz held her hand and gave it a small squeeze.
"I'm here Amity, you don't have to be afraid."
"But I am."
"And that's a normal reaction." Luz said, "You're so used to this place holding bad memories, it's understandable that you would be nervous. It's still fresh in your mind and it will make you nervous whenever you think about it. I'm here for you, and I will until the end of time."
"When did you become so responsible?"
"Since my awesome girlfriend needs me this time. You've been there for me so much, it's time that I make up for it."
"I don't deserve you, you know that?"
"You do deserve me; you deserve the world." Luz said.
"Luz... leave."
"What?"
"I love you, and I know you want to help, but everything that is about to happen, I need to do alone." Amity said, looking at Luz.
Luz nodded, knowing that this is important to Amity, just like how confronting Alaric was important to her.
"Okay, I'll go hunt with Boscha or something."
Luz disappeared in a black cloud and Amity looked at the door. Her father stood behind her, waiting to see her next mover. Amity put her hands on the door and pushed them open.
