At the Owl House, Eda laid in her nest. Sleep has always come hard to her, having an Owl in her makes her more nocturnal than the average witch, but she wasn't sleeping because of her curse, she wasn't sleeping because of unpleasant memories coming up. The last time she saw her uncle was the day before her parents were murdered. The file didn't specifically say that he ordered Alaric to kill them, but the timing was too convenient. Eda sighed and sat up.
"What the hell am I going to do?" Eda asked no one in particular.
She got out of her nest and walked downstairs, it was almost midnight and Luz still wasn't back. Eda had repeatedly told herself that Luz was fine. She was strong, she was fearless, and she wasn't afraid to hurt someone if it means keeping other's safe. Eda couldn't help but smile at that last one. Even being dead, that kid has such a big heart, and to anyone that would hurt her loved ones, Titan help them. Eda made it to the kitchen, where she saw Lucia with her head on the table and a bottle in her hand. Eda took the bottle from her and picked her up from the chair and carried her back upstairs. She went into the temporarily room set up for her and laid her on Luz's old sleep mat, not like she's used it in a while. Eda pulled the blanket over her and gave her forehead a kiss.
"Sleep tight."
Eda got up and went back downstairs. She grabbed a green potion from a cabinet and went back to her room. She pulled the cork out and drank the potion.
"Oh, Sleep Potion, I would be a mess without you." Eda said, feeling the potion take effect.
Eda laid in her nest and closed her eyes. The next morning, Eda woke up and tiredly got up. She walked downstairs and saw Lucia and Luz on each side of the coffee table. The two were arm wrestling, turns out Lucia used to mock Luz for always losing when they did this at home, now it's a bit more even. Eda walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of Apple Blood. She had to talk to Lilith today, and there was no way she could do that sober.
"Hey, mom?" Luz asked, "Are you okay?"
"Oh, hey kid, when did you get back, and where's the silver haired girl?"
"Skara is at an old friends' home. I got back around three." Luz said, "Again, are you okay?"
"I'll be honest, I'm not. This is bringing up a lot of unpleasant memories." Eda said, "I have to talk to your aunt today, so I won't be back until later. You guys have free reign of the house. So, what are you going to do?"
"I'm going to look for somewhere that the Brood won't hurt anyone." At Eda's confusion, Luz elaborated, "There's a New Moon in three days, and the Blood Moon is in two weeks. I need to get the Brood away from anyone during then. Not to mention, I need to... do something the day of the Blood Moon."
"Alright, Kid, I can tell that's a personal thing, so I won't pry for details." Eda said, walking to the door, "Lucia, you're in charge. Luz, you're in charge incase Lucia gets drunk."
"Might as well, just make Luz in charge." Lucia said.
Eda got on her staff and flew away, there was a lot to talk about with Lilith. Luz watched Eda fly away, and Lucia put an arm around Luz's shoulders.
"Hey, you alright, Light Bulb?" Lucia asked.
"Not really a good nickname anymore." Luz said.
"Okay. You okay, Night Light?"
Luz chuckled.
"I'm... worried." Luz said, "There's a lot going on right now. It really stressful."
"Hey, don't worry, I'm here if you need me." Lucia said, "Don't worry about Belos and this vampire hunter, I'll help you any way I can."
"Thanks, Lucia."
"Anytime, sis."
Eda landed outside the manor that Lilith was at, she lives at her girlfriends home more than her own at this point. Eda walked to the door and knocked on it. Lilith opened it and looked at Eda.
"Hey, Lily, time to talk about this."
