The bell rang, indicating the end of the school day. Luz put her books away and walked up to Miss Night.

"Miss Night, can I talk to you?" Luz asked.

"Luz, class is over with, you don't need to be so formal." She said, "Outside of class, you can call me Katya. Now, what can I help you with?"

"I was wondering about the Blood Moon this Friday." Luz said, "C-c-can you really talk to the dead?"

"Well, like I said, it's possible, but no one's done it in several generations." Katya said, "Why the sudden interest?"

Luz looked down and rubbed her arm.

"My mom was murdered." Luz said, "I just wanted to speak to her one last time. Apologize for not being able to save her."

"You still feel guilty don't you?" Katya asked.

"How could you tell?"

"You aren't the only one that's had something like that happened." Katya said, "I was no older than you when a vampire hunter killed my parents. You feel responsible, constantly thinking that you could've done something."

Katya reached into her desk and pulled out a book.

"This is everything I know about the Blood Moon, I hope it will help you."

Luz took the book, over eight hundred years worth of Blood Moon knowledge. If there is something that will tell her how to do this, it would be in here.

"Thank you." Luz said.

"As a vampire, it's imperative that I help my queen."

"It's still weird to think that I'm the queen of vampires, I'm still a kid."

"Your fangs don't lie." Katya said, "You have royal fangs, which means this is your birth right."

That got Luz thinking, if these fangs are only seen in Royal vampires, then why does she have them? It couldn't have been a mistake, right? Luz shook the thoughts out of her head, that's a problem for another time, right now she needed to get back to the Owl House and look through the book. She thanked Katya again and started to walk away, leaving Katya to ponder.

"Royal fangs." She said, "Those don't result because of the status of the vampire that bit you."

Katya sat at her desk and thought about it for a while, ignoring the work she should be grading. How could a human become a royal vampire if it wasn't through a bite? Luz sprinted home and didn't stop until she was in her room, she had less than a week to learn all she can about the Blood Moon and how to speak to the dead. While she was doing that, Fitz and Belos were also planning. Planning on how to capture the brood and use them against Luz.

"And you're sure this would work?" Belos asked.

"Vampires are like animals." Fitz said, "The closer the Blood Moon gets, the more their instincts will take over. Like all animals, all you need is the right kind of bait."
