"So you're going to be okay here?"
That was the thing the Writer said to Peter as they arrived back to Wakefield.
"Yeah, really," Peter said.
"I feel like I'm your dad dropping you off at the movie theater."
"Please. You're a better dad than the guys at Jackass are."
The writer ignored that and gave Peter one of his old phones.
"Use this to escape back to your home if you get into any trouble."
"Got it."
Dirk, Quinn, and Quint locked the doors behind them as they made it to the police station.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you."
The two were met with a gun muzzle to their faces. They then saw a young woman behind the stock.
"Please, we want to survive just like you." Dirk pleaded.
The woman put down her gun.
"Alright, follow me."
The three followed the woman to the armory.
"Stay here and don't touch anything."
Peter looted the bodies for ammunition and guns.
"Hold this," Peter said, giving June and Jack unloaded pistols.
"Are we going to use these later?" Jack asked. "Because it feels like a videogame."
Peter stood up. "When are you ever going to realize that you have to take an apocalypse seriously?"
While the two argued, June saw a scary sight.
"Guys!"
The gang member Peter let go came back with reinforcements. Some of them were even on military vehicles with machine guns mounted on top.
"Come on, follow me!" Peter said.
Jack, June, and Peter hid in the nearby convenience store.
"What were you guys doing out there?" The latter of the three asked.
Jack defended his actions. "The radio we had told us to head to the police station!"
"I don't think it's safe there. It's not just zombie humans you have to worry about..."
"Alright, grab what you need." The woman said, turning on the light.
A rack of police armor with riot shields and batons was neatly sorted in front of the group. The four grabbed their gear and suited up. The woman also made sure to stock up on ammunition for all her guns.
"You guys ready?"
"Let's do this," Quint said.
"I just don't think that the police station is safe, we should be evacuating the city while we can," Peter suggested.
"But we can't leave Quint, Quinn, and Dirk behind!" Jack argued.
"Then we have to rescue them first. Let's go!"
Inside the police station, zombies were being mowed down left and right.
"Is that all?" Quint said through the radio.
"Clear on my end," Dirk said through his.
"So is mine," Quinn said.
"10-4. Meet me at the welcome center."
Peter's group arrived at the parking lot behind the WPD. Of course, everything had to be blocked off by a gate.
"Oh darn, we're locked," Jack said.
"Let me try," Peter said.
Peter took out his phone and used it as a clicker. The gates began to open.
"Wow, where'd you learn that?" June asked.
"A friend of mine."
Low moaning sounds arose. Rotting bodies approached the group as if they're prey.
"Run!"
Quickly, the three made it inside. Peter made sure to close the gate before the zombies made it in. The zombies tried to reach for their prey through the gates. They were met with a quick Molotov burning them alive. He quickly went inside with the others.
"Okay, we have a huge stock of food, water, backup power, and weapons. We should be good to go." Quint said.
One of the doors in the welcome center swung open. Peter, June, and Jack ran in.
"Guys, you made it!" Quinn cheered.
Of course, it wasn't all fun and roses.
"You!" Both the woman and Peter called out.
Both of them lunged for each other.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Peter said.
"What are you doing here?" replied the woman.
"Guess they know each other," Jack muttered to himself.
Low moaning sounds and heavy pounding on the exits forced the two to lay down their weapons.
"We gotta move. Zombies will be here any second." Peter said.
"Let's grab as much we can from the storage area and go!" The woman added.
Wakefield was in even more chaos than it was a few hours ago. Zombies roamed the street, murdering military and police officers along the way.
"Where do we go?" Quinn shouted through the mess.
"Do you guys have maps on your phones?" Peter asked. "We can find the quickest way out."
The group ran back to the convenience store Peter, Jack, and Jill hid out before.
"All the exits are blocked off by the military," June said.
"That's great. We can show that we're human, and they'll let us go," said Dirk.
"I don't think that's safe. We're armed, they'll shoot us." The woman said.
"She's got a point." Peter joined. "We need to escape, but not on foot."
"We can drive a car!" Quint suggested.
After Quint's suggestion, a news broadcast came on the radio.
"...due to events being placed out of control, police, fire, and military units are now ordered to shoot anything on sight."
"Oh come on!" Quint groaned.
The sound of someone running alerted the group. Everyone watched as two people, who closely resembled Peter and the woman, arrived at the military checkpoint at the end of the road.
"What are they saying?" Jack asked.
"Don't know."
The two shots rang out. Both bodies collapsed on the ground.
"Okay, we're not going that way," Jack said.
"I have an idea," Quint suggested.
"What?"
"There's a train station not far from here. We can escape by train from there."
"That's dumb." The woman said.
"We have to try something."
Peter looked out the window and saw a frightening sight.
"Military is coming this way. We have to try now!"
The group escaped using the back door. Seconds later, soldiers burst in, searching the perimeters.
All was quiet when the group arrived at the train station.
"Huh. You'd expect a bunch of people trying to escape by train." June said to herself.
The train station was mostly empty save for one. The group boarded the train, with zombies aboard. The group took them out with ease.
"So Peter..." Jack asked.
Peter gave him his attention.
"About that woman, what is her name, and how do you two know each other?"
Before Peter could say anything, June and the woman interrupted.
"The train's out of power." The woman said.
"Shoot. Alright, let's power this thing on." Peter groaned.
The group arrived back at the station.
"Everybody look for the fuse box," Peter said.
Before Peter went his way, Jack stopped him.
"First, you tell us who this woman is. You've been trying to hide it from us."
"Fine," Peter said. "Everyone, meet Courtney."
"Courtney? Who's she?" Quint asked.
"She's someone I rather not associate with. We fought each other on several occasions. Sometimes, it was over the top."
"Oh, so you two are rivals," Quinn said with realization.
"Pretty much."
"Found it!" Courtney said from the janitor's closet.
The train lit up like Christmas. With the engine running, the sound of it attracted a large hoard.
"We better move!"
The group quickly boarded the train. Quint quickly handled the controls. He put on the train conductor's hat and spoke in a deep, announcer-like voice.
Quint said over to the intercom, "All aboard passengers, we will take off in-"
"Just start the train!"
Quint quickly started up the engine. Noticing the zombies quickly getting on the back, Peter and Jack quickly knocked them away. As soon as the zombies were out of sight, the two went back on the train.
"Anybody bit?" Jack asked.
Everyone showed their arms and legs. No bites yet.
"Oh man, I can't believe everyone made it here in one piece," Jack said.
"Jack, not everyone's going to live." Peter reminded.
For those wondering why Courtney is back, recently it has been discovered that Chris-Chan, someone whom I wrote about for a while, has been engaging in sexual acts between him and his mother. He was ousted from his house and is not allowed to contact Barbara for a week. It was also discovered that Chris took $750 from her bank account to use for shopping at the mall. Originally in the story, Peter believed that Chris can change with Courtney and Peter's former associates stopping him. But now, this happened. And I regret writing this.
