Later that night, Alberto and Agnes settled on sleeping outside, allowing Luca and Giulia to have the bedroom to themselves.
"This here is Giulia's hideout...Luca and I slept here for a while…" Alberto explained. "And some days this is mine"
"It's amazing...and you can even see the ocean from here…" Agnes sat on her knees to watch the ocean waves drift by. Then a small chill went up her spine and she gripped her hands on her arms, feeling the cold wind flow past. Alberto spotted her freezing state and went back inside and came back out with a blanket and his hat.
He gently placed his hat on her head and he wrapped both of them in the blanket but he blushed, seeing how close he was to her. Agnes chuckled a little.
"I guess we're both warm now…" Alberto said. His cheeks were still red from blushing. Agnes smiled at him sweetly. Then She saw a bit of sadness on his face
"What's wrong...Are you okay…" She placed her soft palms on his cheeks to get him to look at her.
"If that circus ever comes here are you going to go with them…" Agnes jumped back a little
"No...Never...I want to stay here with you...Luca, and Giulia...I love it here…"
"I just...I just don't want you to leave me…" Alberto started to cry, making Agnes gently hush him. She hugged him, rubbing his back out of comfort.
"I'll never leave you...I'll be right here…" Agnes gently wiped his tears away.
"I...I just don't want to be alone...I...I really want you to be here with me…"
Agnes gently hushed him again, leaning her forehead against his.
"I'll be here...Don't you worry...I'm very sincere with my promises...You know I'll be here…" Alberto looked into her eyes with tears streaming down his face and she gently wiped them away with her thumbs.
"Aww...Alberto has a ragazza…" the two of them turned to see Giulia and Luca peeking at the window, watching them the whole time. Alberto grabbed Agnes by the waist and growled at Giulia.
"Alberto…" Agnes wrapped her arms around his right arm
"Come on, we should get some sleep…" Luca grabbed Giulia and closed the window, making Agnes sigh in relief.
"Now we can be alone…" She whispered to herself. She was about to set up her place to get some sleep until Alberto cleared his throat.
"Uh, Agnes...Can you do something for me...It's going to be stupid but...Will you…" Alberto cringed a little about his request. "Forget it…"
"Hey, Silenzio Bruno...I'm here for you...What is it that you need?" Agnes placed herself closer to the young boy.
"Uh...Well, I…" Agnes tilted her head at Alberto's stuttering. "Can you sing to me…" Alberto spoke quickly with his eyes shut.
The boy opened his eyes to find Agnes smiling warmly at him. He kind of expected her to laugh at him for such a silly request but She didn't mind it. She knew he wanted to hear her sing again.
"Well I don't know too many lullabies but I do like this one song...I've heard it before and I wanted to sing it for a while…"
"Yeah yeah...Anything you like...I just want to hear your voice again...You have a pretty voice…" Alberto complemented.
Agnes smiled and thanked him. He crawled towards her and laid his head on her lap and began to settle down as she began to sing
"Fly Me to the moon, Let me play among the stars, Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars, In other words, hold my hand, In other words, baby, kiss me" Agnes gently sang. Her soft and beautiful voice rang in Alberto's ears. To him, it was the sweetest sound ever heard. He smiled at her and began to yawn, snuggling into her lap as she was about to sing the second verse
"Fill my heart with song and let me sing forevermore, You are all I long for, All I worship and adore In other words, please be true, In other words, I love you" Agnes finished to find an asleep Alberto in her arms. Agnes smiled gently and kissed him on the cheek, making the boy smile further in his sleep.
Giulia and Luca peeked out to see this lovely moment. A silent aww came out of Giulia's mouth and Luca just watched, smiling ear to ear.
For Giulia, this is the first time that her adoptive brother has had a love interest. Agnes came out of nowhere and the romance was a whirlwind. With the thought of Alberto being very prideful, She thought no one could contain him, but she managed to contain him while he, in turn, made her a much stronger person.
For Luca, he was never the type to display jealousy for Alberto and Agnes' relationship. If anything for him, He felt proud of his best friend for gaining a lovely lady out of Agnes and passing on the same knowledge to her and he earned her love for teaching her about being stronger. Then Luca got Giulia to come back inside.
Agnes looked up to the water and began to sigh sadly. Taking in a sharp inhale, She whispered out her plea.
"Please...Please don't take me away from the one I love...Please don't let the circus take me away from him...I don't want to leave Portorosso...Please let me stay…" Agnes then looked back at Alberto who was dreaming.
IN Alberto's dream, He found himself on the moon and the love of his life in a yellow dress and a white sun hat with a Vespa waiting for him.
"Come on Alberto...Let's ride away together…" Agnes' voice echoed out to him
Alberto dressed in a dress shirt and jeans, smiled and ran on the Vespa, pulled her on, and began to drive away. Then the song she sang played as they drove on the planets. Then it began to rain, turning them into their sea monster forms. Then Alberto looked back at Agnes.
"Hey, Agnes look…" He pointed to Jupiter and saw a bunch of flowers and they decided to land there. Flowers of all kinds bloomed on the planet and they had a picnic there. Agnes looked down and sighed.
"Alberto…If you love me...Do you love me as a human or a sea monster…"
Then Alberto took her lavender scaly hands into his purple ones.
"Are you kidding me...I love you in both forms...Human or sea monster...I'm gonna always love you...no matter what…" Alberto vowed. "Why don't we stay here...the summer and spring will be nice in Jupiter...We'll show each other everything...I'm your world as I'm yours…" Agnes smiled with every word Alberto spoke
"Oh, Alberto…" Agnes sighed happily.
The two of them leaned in to kiss again but something started to pull her away from him
"Uh, Alberto...Something's pulling me…" On her yellow dress, there was a black skinny rope pulling her.
"I got you, Agnes…" He grabbed her by the hands. It didn't take him long to lose his grip on her and she was being pulled away from him. She screamed his name on the top of her lungs and he chased after her. Then the garden of luscious flowers surrounding them began to wilt and die
"Agnes…" He screamed. She was being pulled farther and farther from his reach and the planet he was standing on began to evaporate before his eyes and he began to fall into a black hole, losing his paradise and the love of his life
Alberto bolted awake with a gasp. He saw that he was no longer in Agnes' arms but she was sleeping next to him. He looked down and saw the blanket and hat on him and glanced at the young girl again.
"She must've covered me...While I was sleeping…" Alberto whispered to himself.
He looked up at the sky and saw that it was the early morning and he laid back down and covered the two of them up. All he could do was stare at her beautiful face.
Her black wavy hair was still perfect, even from sleeping. Her pale skin looked as white as snow when the sun hit her skin right. Her body relaxed when she was in the warm blanket. Alberto just sighed silently.
"How can you be so perfect?" Alberto whispered.
He placed himself closer to the sleeping Agnes and began to lean in. Was this the very moment that he was going to have his first kiss? His moment was interrupted when Giulia burst out of the window.
Agnes bolted awake by the blowhorn music with Giulia mimicking it and she and Alberto bumped into each other's foreheads. Giulia stopped seeing her two injured friends.
"Are you guys okay?" Giulia called out. Alberto just looked at her angrily and jumped off of the tree with Agnes following after him
When the four ate breakfast, Alberto still stared at Giulia angrily for ruining the moment. Machiavelli came over to Agnes along with his kittens and mate, sensing the tension. Agnes gently petted them, making them all purr.
Then one of the kittens jumped on the table and climbed on Agnes' hair. Then more and more kittens surrounded her, making her giggle.
And just like that, the tension stopped as soon as Alberto eyed Agnes with all of the kittens on her. He just smiled lovingly at her.
"I guess the kittens like you…" Alberto told her.
"I guess they do…" then She felt something crawl towards her. She looked down and saw a turtle slowly making its way towards her.
"Aww, what's your name…"
"Oh, That's Caligola...She likes you…" Giulia picked up the tortoise to get her closer to Agnes. It slowly glanced at Alberto who was still dreamily glancing at her and back at the kitten-surrounded Agnes and could sense the love between them.
"Animals can sense the good in people and I guess they see a lot of good in you…" Luca told her.
Then a few of the kittens got on Alberto and made Alberto place a hand on Agnes'. Seeing their hands together, they looked at each other and smiled.
"I also heard You sing to Alberto last night…" Giulia elbowed Agnes teasingly.
"Giulia...SHUT IT…" Alberto growled.
"I don't see a problem with it...If I had trouble sleeping he would do the same…I just love Fly Me To The Moon…" Agnes petted the roaming kittens.
"How did you hear about it…" Massimo asked, coming to the table.
"Well I heard it when I was doing one of my acts...the magician left his radio again and once I heard it...I fell in love with the song...It played at least 3 times and I was able to remember it…"
"That's cool…" Alberto said. Then Massimo shooed all of the pets away from Agnes and set their breakfast down. Agnes picked up her fork and gently ate her eggs. Then She saw Alberto eating with the fork too but he wasn't as graceful as her. She smiled at him and ruffled his curls a little, making him smile back at her as they ate.
"I can't wait to have fun with you guys…" Agnes told them.
"Work first, play later...the deliveries have to be done…" Massimo reminded her.
"Alright, Papa...Agnes come with me…." Giulia was about to grab her hand until Alberto grabbed her other hand.
"Hold on, Agnes can come with me...Luca can do the deliveries with you while Agnes and I can fish…" Alberto argued.
"Then How will she get used to the Portorosso neighborhood if she were to stay…" Giulia said with sass.
"I…" then He grumbled, seeing Giulia's point. Then Agnes went in front of him, making him grin again.
"Don't worry...I'll be back soon…" Agnes said.
"Just...Just be careful okay…" Alberto grabbed her hands.
"I will…" then Giulia pulled Agnes away, breaking their embraced hands, and ran out the door. Alberto sighed sadly and went off with the boys to work
Meanwhile, the circus boat traveled among the waters. It didn't rock as roughly as last time
"She has to be around here somewhere...She has to be.." the ringmaster paced back and forth as the rest of the sailors were looking at the map.
"I found some land...Do you think She would be in Portorosso…" the sailors and the ringmaster glanced at the map and saw Portorosso
"She has to be there...We stopped at every land and no one has seen her…"
"Alright men, we set sail for Portorosso…" The captain said, taking the wheel off of the bow.
Then a helicopter flew overhead, watching the ship.
"They're heading for Portorosso Sir and mam…" a suited man told the suited man and woman, who were experimenting with a specimen.
"We gotta get to that girl before the circus does…" the woman spoke in a serious tone.
Later on, after work was done, Luca's family came up to the surface and was introduced to Agnes
"It's nice to meet you, Agnes…" Daniela told her.
"It's a pleasure to meet you too Ms. Daniela…"
"A girl with manners, that's the type of girl you need Alberto…" Daniela glanced at the blushing Alberto.
"Such a pleasure….Luca told us about you...I'm so sorry about the shipwreck…" Lorenzo told her.
"Oh um That's okay...All that matters is I'm safe and I'm here…"
"Speaking of here...Who wants to play Foosball…" Daniela cheered.
Once the game started, there were two separate teams. Agnes was obviously on Daniela's team because she wanted to do a boys vs girls game. So far the girls and the boys had a tie. Daniela passed the ball to Giulia who kicked it to an open Agnes. She did many kicks with the ball, keeping it in the air and kicking it to the goal where a small boy was guarding it. Unfortunately, he was too small to get to it
"Woohoo...We won…Agnes" Giulia hugged Agnes.
"That's because you had fewer girls and we had more boys…" Alberto scoffed.
"There's nothing wrong with a little girl power…" Agnes shrugged.
"You tell 'em, Agnes…" Daniela high-fived both her and Giulia making Alberto roll his eyes. "You're a natural Agnes, where did you learn to kick like that…"
"Gelato Anyone?" Lorenzo brought out a gelato cart and served everyone. He didn't know he knocked over a poor boy's gelato, causing him to cry.
Agnes spotted this and gently walked over to the wailing boy.
"Hey, It's okay…" She lifted his chin to get him to look at her. "Hey what's that behind your ear…"
"Huh..." the boy sniffled. Agnes went to the right side of the boy's ear and pulled out one coin, making the boy giggle. Then She went into his left ear and pulled out two scoops of gelato in a cone, making him happy and he hugged her leg tightly, taking the gelato and running off.
"No way...How did you do that?" Alberto asked, coming over to the grinning Agnes.
"Ah ah...A magician never reveals her secrets.." Agnes gently tapped his nose
"She's right Alberto...If she reveals everything then It won't be any good…" Luca's grandmother pointed out.
Then Alberto surprised Agnes with a cup of Gelato for them to share and he burped loudly in her face, causing her to giggle.
The four kids began to talk on the fountain, and Alberto told Agnes the story about how he and Luca came up here for the first time for the Portorosso cup.
"That's incredible...Did you ride the Vespa.."
"Well, I might've sold it to get Luca a ticket to Genova…"
"And that's how I went to school…"
"I kinda still wish I had it…"
Then Agnes beamed watching Ercole riding his red Vespa around and he parked it to go inside the sandwich shop. Then She glanced at Alberto with the same smile
"What is it?" Alberto asked. Agnes got him to look at Ercole's Vespa and the two of them smiled at each other.
"What are you guys doing?" Luca asked. Then the two of them sneaked towards Ercole's Vespa. The keys were still in it and the shiny red paint made them see their own reflection. Alberto and Agnes hopped on with Alberto starting it. Then they both drove off before Ercole can get to them
"My Beautiful Vespa...somebody do something…" Ercole cried with Alberto and Agnes riding away, laughing at the former bully.
"This is my first time on a Vespa…" Agnes told him
"Oh you're gonna love this…" then the two teens whooped as they drove away.
They went back to the island to have a bit of fun. They went towards a cave where Alberto shouted.
"What's wrong with you Stupido…" He yelled, making an echo. "You try Agnes...say the thing."
Agnes then turned to the cave and began to yell with her hands on her mouth
"WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU STUPIDO…" Agnes said, causing a bigger echo.
"That was awesome...Come on Let's ride the Vespa. Then Agnes saw a ramp down a large hill, making her nervous.
"Hey...you coming?" Alberto asked her. She didn't pay attention as she still looked down. Alberto got off briefly to console her. He turned her around to face him
"Just put your hands in mine and trust me…" Agnes was happy that He used her words from before and she got on. He placed a colander on her head and looked at the mirror.
"Andiamo…" Alberto shouted as He and Agnes rode down the hill and then they went up the ramp. Agnes opened her eyes to find that they were in the view of a flock of seagulls. The two of them were amazed at the sight and then the view was short-lived when the two were about to fall.
Agnes then wrapped Alberto in her arms and they jumped off of the Vespa, making it crash and they both fell in the water, turning them back into sea monsters.
The two of them cringed at the Vespa sinking. Then Alberto began to laugh, and the Agnes followed suit
"That was wonderful…"
"Yeah, I can't believe we made it…"
Then the two of them swam away back to the mainland of Portorosso to see that the sun has already started to set
Then the two went back to the hill where they were before. Agnes was under Alberto's arm as they watched the sunset together.
In Agnes' eyes, everything felt so right. She leaned her head on Alberto's shoulder and he glanced at her and he leaned back. Then they looked into each other's eyes. They began to lean in again for a kiss but then two suited men cleared their throats, walking up their way.
"Are we interrupting something?" One of them asked.
A frightened Agnes slightly hid behind an irritated Alberto
"What do you two want…" he asked
"Have you seen this young sea monster…" one of them held up a poster of a sea monster that looked familiar in both of their eyes.
"No we haven't seen her…these waters are rare for sea monsters at this time…" Agnes said quickly. "Come on, we should get home…" She grabbed Alberto's hand and ran down the hill.
"Agnes, who were those guys…" Alberto asked while running.
"Those guys attacked the ship that the circus and I were in…"
"Then they're probably after you…Come on…"
Then the Portorosso village was surrounded by the suited people. They even confronted Massimo, Giulia, and Luca.
"Have not seen her…" Massimo told two of the men
"I want you to think really hard about it…" one of them tried to confront him, trying to be tough
"What does she look like?"
"DAD…Dad…" Alberto called as he and Agnes approached the house.
"She looks like the age of those two.."
Then a lone citizen accidentally spilled his water can on her, revealing her identity
"Oh no…" then everyone began to chase at her, then Massimo stepped in front of Her and Alberto with more of the citizens of Portorosso surrounding them
"You're not going anywhere…" Massimo said gruffly. Alberto puffed his chest and stood by his father's side until he was pulled by Giulia and Daniela along with Agnes
"Go there's a shortcut and make a break for the ocean…" Giulia warned him
"No, I want to fight those guys…"
"Then who will protect your girlfriend huh…" Daniela reminded him
"Come on Alberto…let's go…" Agnes pulled. Then Alberto took her hand and ran towards the shortcut. Then a ship was sailing towards the town
Then the two reached the gate that led to the ocean. They climbed on top of it and braced themselves.
"Together…" Alberto asked
"Together…" Agnes nodded. They screamed and jumped into the water. They swam away from Portorosso.
"I hope Massimo and the others are okay…" Agnes said while swimming
"They're fishermen…they can take care of themselves…we can hide on the island…"
Then the sailors on the boat spotted them and told the ringmaster and they began to change direction.
Meanwhile, A full-scale fight took place in the town square of Portorosso. Then one of the suited people stopped
"Wait a minute…" she held out a hand getting her men to stop. They saw the ship heading towards the island.
"Do you think that's the circus…" one of the men asked
"It is…" then they all ran off. "We gotta find those kids…"
"That's right, keep running…" a fisherman yelled.
Then the two finally arrived on the island.
"We made it…" Agnes and Alberto shake themselves off, turning back into their human form.
"Hey, there's a ship coming…" Alberto pointed. Then the sailors came on the land and walked towards them. Then Alberto saw Agnes backing away.
"Goodbye Alberto…" Agnes ran off with Alberto running after her. Then The sailors ran after them
"Don't follow me…it's not safe for us…" Agnes yelled
"No, I'm following you…if you're in trouble I'm in trouble…we're in this together…" Alberto called after her. Then they climbed up the tower and climbed towards the roof.
"What now…" Alberto asked.
Then the sailors got on the roof surrounding them. Then Alberto put up his fists to try and fight them
"Bring it on…" then one of the sailors swung a bat behind his head, knocking him out.
"Alberto…please wake up…Alberto…" Agnes cried, trying to get Alberto to wake up.
Then the ringmaster came up on the roof
"We got them both sir…"
"And it's about time…" then the sailors took both teens away.
Then Alberto woke up inside a prison cell. He began to bang on it, grunting and trying to open the bars with all of his might but it was no use...but he decided to keep trying
"AGNES…" Alberto called. "Agnes…". His calls rang out in the dark hallways of the prison.
Meanwhile, Agnes was imprisoned in her dressing room. She was in her next performance dress. A dark purple leotard attached to a mesh purple skirt. Then the ringmaster came in
"Welcome home Agnessa…"
"Where's Alberto…I demand to know where he is…NOW" Agnes shouted, walking up to him
"So that's his name huh…"
"Please where is he…" Agnes begged
"Don't you worry he's being treated like a VIP guest…there's something I want you to see before you see him.
Then the ringmaster took Agnes to a room and he opened the door and turned on the light and she gasped. She saw a room with a frozen sea monster. When she stepped closer into the room, there were posters of the sea monster everywhere and there were some posters of her.
"Who is that…"
"It's another sea monster…don't be afraid to touch him…he's quite dead you know…" the ringmaster informed him
Agnes hesitated and closed her eyes.
"He came to us long ago before you did. Sea monsters were a myth until he came to the surface…since then he became a part of us but he escaped…now he's frozen in this ice cube swimming in the wrong territory…"
Then Agnes uncovered her eyes and turned to him.
"You killed him didn't you…you're a monster…" Agnes screamed.
"Oh no I didn't kill him…I simply found him in the territory he was staying in…I don't want the same to happen to you…"
Then Agnes pushed him away, stunning him.
"Silenzio Bruno…you only want me for money…why don't you get someone else…take any money you want and keep it yourself…just leave me, Alberto, and my friends alone PLEASE…" Agnes shouted covering her eyes again
"Do you think I want you to perform for money…I'm keeping my circus in a good reputation…Agnessa…the public only wants to see you perform…I would hate to see what would happen to Alberto…"
Then Agnes quickly turned to him, terrified that he would give such a threat
"What do you plan on doing to him…"
"If you stay with us for the rest of your life, we'll set Alberto free…my starlet…"
Meanwhile, Alberto kept banging on the bars and then he, at last, gave up and curled in a corner, about to cry, until a sailor came in and unlocked the door
"Alright…out you…" The sailor dragged him out and Alberto began to pin him down
"Where's Agnes…Tell me NOW…" He yelled, choking the man.
"I was gonna take you to her…" the man choked and Alberto released him
Then they met at the entrance of the ship, the two kids hugged each other with Agnes sobbing.
"Agnes are you okay…did they hurt you…" Alberto cupped her cheek.
"I'm okay…" Agnes told him
"Alberto we had no idea how noble you fought to protect our Agnessa against those suited scientists…" then Alberto glanced at Agnes
"What is he talking about…"
"Please Alberto…Do this for me…forget about us…"
"What no…you mean too much to me to give you up…"
"Well in Agnessa's condition she wanted to perform here as thanks for letting her stay…after that we are about to tour to America…"
"Agnes…" Alberto's voice broke in sadness.
"I just hope, one day you can forgive me for dragging you into this mess...but I know you won't"
"I…" a hurt Alberto was at a loss for words. With tears welling in her eyes, Agnes ran off.
"Goodbye Alberto…" Alberto tried to chase after her but the ringmaster held him back
"Agnes…Agnes…" Alberto called.
"Think boy…use your head…she was never meant to be yours…" the ringmaster told him in his ear
Those words struck Alberto in the heart and he slowly stopped. Then the ringmaster gave him a stack full of money
"For your trouble…" the ringmaster and a bunch of sailors walked off to the next room
Alberto walked out of the ship in sadness staring at Portorosso from afar and he swam away.
Agnes watched the love of her life leave through the window of her dressing room. Then a golden headdress was placed on her head.
"Only you can perform and make your circus famous…keep your promise and you too will be free…" the ringmaster shut the door to her room. Then she sobbed sadly on the window sill with the magician watching sadly. He shook his head and left.
In Portorosso, Everything settled down and one of the kids spotted Alberto coming.
"Alberto's back…" everyone cheered and ran to him, even Daniela and Lorenzo.
"Alberto we were all SO worried about you…" Lorenzo glanced to his side
"Where's Agnes…"
"It's over now…" Alberto then tearfully ran past them. Everyone called out to him but it was numb to his ears. When he arrived back at his house, he tripped and the money fell on the concrete.
He tried to throw it but he stopped himself and just slowly walked in the door but found himself being pulled in
"Hey what's going here…let me go…" he yelled. Water was poured on him and a needle was stuck in him and the suited people tied him up.
"Dad, Giulia, Luca…" Alberto saw them free but he was the only one tied up
"Welcome home Alberto…"
"Leave me alone…" Alberto yelled. Then one of the men came in with the money
"Hey, Marcy…I found money outside…" he said
"So they gave you money and you took it…how pathetic…" Marcy shook his head
"You don't understand…" Alberto yelled out.
"Then they made you leave and come back here right…" the woman continued
"Where's Agnes…" Giulia asked.
"She's back at that circus and Alberto just left there getting paid to forget about their relationship…"
"I only left because Agnes told me to…that's why…" Alberto's voice cracked.
"Alberto…" Luca said
"That ringmaster was right, I was never meant to be with her…"
"Silenzio Bruno…he only said that to get into your head…" Luca told him
"He's right you know…" the suited man named Marcus stood next to Marcy.
"Don't you think it's a little odd that the entertainment industry has gotten into the kidnapping business…" Marcy drank a little bit of wine
"What…" Alberto looked at her, taking in her words.
"Do you think that ringmaster will keep her alive…Don't you see he forced her to make a deal.."
"He's…he's gonna kill her…"
"Santa ricotta, Alberto she saved your life…She loves you that much she'll trade her life for yours…" Giulia untied him.
"Wait a minute we can save her…She said the circus is going to perform here tonight.." Alberto realized.
"Then let's move out…" Marcus yelled out
"Are you going to bring her back here…" Alberto asked hopefully.
"No you fool, we only need her blood…" One of the henchmen told him
"Her blood, what for…" Luca asked
"You see young boy we are scientists studying sea monsters, trying to figure out how they blend in and be like us…we already have a male blood specimen from your friend now all we need is a young female sea monster blood specimen…"
"Wait, you have to have Agnes, or it's useless…"
"You sound like a baby right now…" Marcy told him
"Now madam…" Massimo was about to confront her.
"No dad, she's right…I should've protected Agnes…instead, I just ruined everything…but if you let me and my friends go with you, I swear I'll protect her this time…"
"Get everyone ready…" Marcy looked at him and saw that he was serious about saving her.
