Ch 7 New Life.

"Nala are you sure you're in labor?" Simba asked, trying not to show how worried and sacred he really was.

"I'm very sure Simba," Nala said, panting for breath. Just then another labor pain ripped through her. "Ahhhh! Oh Great Kings that hurts!"

"Come darling lets get you inside the cave," Sarafina said, going beside her daughter and helping her walk inside the birthing cave.

"I'll help to," Sarabi offered, walking into the cave right behind Nala and Sarafina. This left Simba and Malkia on their own.

"Man this waiting is killing me," Malkia said as he continued to pace.

"Yeah," Simba said softly as he sat on the ground. Just then Timon and Pumbaa arrived on the scene.

"Hey there buddy why the worried face?" Timon asked, noticing Simba's worried expression.

"Nala's in labor," Simba informed his friends.

"That's great buddy!" Timon said, hugging his lion friend.

"New life is always a very good thing," Pumbaa said as he too hugged Simba.

"Tama's in labor too," Malkia said with a smile.

"Wow double the joy!" Timon cried out as he and Pumbaa went to embrace Malkia. "So why do you look like you're going to a funeral?" Timon asked, looking over at Simba when he said this part.

"I'm just worried," Simba declared. "I'm actually terrified truthfully."

"Simba everything is going to be alright," Pumbaa said, walking over towards his friend.

"I hope you're right Pumbaa," Simba said with a sigh. "Its just that with everything that's happened in the past I'm worried that I'll lose Nala or the cub or both. I...I don't think I could bear if I lost either one." Simba lowered his head and looked away from his friends, embarrassed that he was getting so emotional.

"Hey there pal don't get so worked up," Timon said, patting Simba's paw.

"Yeah everything is going to be fine," Malkia said. "This is a time for joy not sadness. Don't let what happened in the past ruin your happiness now."

"You're right Mal'," Simba said, raising his head and smiling at his dark coated friend. "Everything will be fine." Just then the group heard Nala's roar of pain echo through the air. "I hope," Simba muttered as he and Malika went back to pacing.

After what seamed like an eternity Jasiri emerged from the cave, a smile on her face. When Malkia saw his mother he ran up to her, his brown eyes wide. "Mom!" Malkia cried out. "What's happening?! Is Tama alright?! Is the cub here?! What..."

"My Goodness Malkia calm down honey," Jasiri said with a slight laugh. "For starters Tama is just fine. And so is your son."

"I have a son?" Malkia cried out, a huge smile going across his face.

"Yes," Jasiri said, giving her son a nuzzle. "And he's perfectly healthy."

"I have a son!" Malkia cried out with a laugh.

"That's wonderful news there Malkia," Timon said as he and Pumbaa embrace their friend.

"Thanks guys," Malkia said. "I'm going to see them." Without waiting for a response Malkia dashed into the cave to see his mate and newborn son. Jasiri began to follow her son but Simba stopped her.

"Any news on Nala?" the golden King asked.

"Not yet," Jasiri said. "But don't worry Simba everything is going the way it should."

"Thank you Jasiri," Simba said with a smile. "That makes me feel better."

"Good," Jasiri said with a smile of her own. With that the chocolate brown lioness went inside the cave while Simba went back to pacing.

Hours later Simba was still waiting on news about Nala. "I know something bad happened!" Simba cried out. "Why else would it be taking so long?!"

"Simba buddy you've gotta calm down," Timon said. "You're gonna have a stroke at this rate."

"Timon don't..." Simba began. But he stopped when he saw Sarabi emerge from the cave. "Mom!" Simba cried out, running over to his mother. "Mom! Please tell me what's going on. Is Nala ok?"

"Nala is just fine dear," Sarabi said with a smile. "The birth took a little longer because the cub had gotten stuck. But Rafiki managed to get the cub out safely."

"Can I see them?" Simba asked.

"Of course," Sarabi said with a smile. "Nala might be a little wore out. But..."

"Thanks Mom," Simba said, running into the cave.

"Hey buddy wait for us," Timon called out as he, Pumbaa and Sarabi followed Simba into the cave.

Moments later Simba saw Nala laying next to Tama and Malkia. When she saw her mate Nala flashed him a big smile. Simba ran over to his love and nuzzled her. "I'm so glad you're alright," the golden King whispered. "Both you and the cub."

"You mean cubs," Nala said with a laugh. Simba's amber eyes went wide as he realized what his mate had just said.

"Did you say cubs?" he asked. "As in more than one?"

"Yes silly," Nala chuckled. "We had twins. A boy and a girl." When Nala said this she moved her paws to reveal two small bundles. One had a golden brown coat and the other had a golden coat like Simba's. "This is our son," Nala said, nuzzling the golden cub. "And this is our daughter." Nala nuzzled the golden brown cub when she said this part. Simba smiled down at his children and licked their head.

"They're perfect Nala," Simba whispered, tears of joy going down his face. "Absolutely perfect."

"I agree," Sarabi said, coming onto the scene with Sarafina right behind her. The tan coated lioness smiled down at her grandchildren who began to stir and open their eyes. The boy opened his eyes and revealed bright blue eyes like his mother. The girl opened her eyes and revealed bright amber eyes like her father.

"So what's the little cuties names?" Malkia asked, peering over Simba's shoulder to look at the cubs.

"Well the girl we're naming Kiara," Simba said, nuzzling his daughter. "And the boy we're naming Kiongozi, or Kion for short."

"I love it," Sarafina cooed as she nuzzled her grandchildren. "Ray of light and leader. Perfect names for them."

"So what's this little guy's name?" Simba asked, walking over and looking down at Tama and Malkia's son. The cub had his mother's light gold coat and looked up at Simba with dark brown eyes. Simba smiled tenderly at the cub, who let out a yawn and snuggled into Tama's fur and went to sleep.

"His name is Kopa," Tama said, licking the top of her son's head.

"He is our heart after all," Malkia said, nuzzling his son.

"Well I think the name fits him," Simba said with a smile. Just then Timon and Pumbaa approached the group.

"I love all these cubs," Pumbaa said with a smile. "And they are so cute." The warthog smiled down at little Kopa when he said this part.

"Yeah I guess they're alright," Timon said, looking down at Kiara and Kion. Just then Kion woke up and looked at Timon with wide amber eyes. "How's it goin' kiddo?" the meerkat said, his face inches from Kion's. Kion sniffed Timon and bumped him slightly with his nose. Timon was caught off guard and tumbled backwards, landing next to Kiara, who wrapped her paw around Timon and pulled him close.

"I think they like you," Simba said with a slight laugh.

"Yeah well the feelings mutual," Timon said softy as he snuggled next to Kiara. Before long the two cubs and the meerkat were fast asleep.

"I think they've got the right idea," Simba said with a yawn as he settled down next to his family. "Its been a long day." Simba looked over at Malkia and Tama, who were already sleeping with Pumbaa right beside them. Simba looked at Nala, who was sleeping as well. Letting out a content sigh Simba layed his head on his paws and went to sleep, knowing tomorrow would be an eventful day as well.
