Ch 8 More Danger

The next day back in the Outlands word had spread about the new Prince and Princess. "So Simba has not one but two brats does he?" Zira snarled as she began to pace. "Well isn't that just disgusting!"

"Zira this may not be a bad thing," Tojo piped up.

"Of course it is!" Zira growled, baring her teeth at her brother. "Now I have two more problems to get rid of!"

"Zira you're not looking at the big picture here," Tojo said. Zira growled and was about to speak. But Tojo held up his paw. "Just hear me out will ya?" he snapped. Zira let out another growl but said nothing. "Alright then," Tojo said, lowering his paw. "Now as I was saying this may not be a bad thing. Simba had two cubs right? A boy and a girl?"

"Yes he did," Vumbi said after Zira said nothing.

"Well you have a boy and a girl cub yourself," Tojo pointed out, indicating Vitani and Kovu, who were off to the side play wrestling while Nuka kept watch. "We could use Vitani and Kovu to our advantage. Have them go into the Pride Lands and befriend Simba's cubs."

"We could never use Vitani," Zira growled. "Simba already knows she's my daughter. He'd never allow his precious cubs around her."

"Well how about Kovu then?" Tojo asked. "Simba doesn't know anything about him. We could use him."

"And then there's our cub," Vumbi said, smiling down at her newborn daughter. "We could use Miwa too. When's she's old enough of course."

"Hmm," Zira said, looking over at her son then down at her niece. The pale coated cub looked up at her aunt with wide blue eyes. "That could work," Zira said after a minute. "Nice Tojo for once you managed to come up with something useful."

"Gee thanks sis so much for the compliment," Tojo said, rolling his light brown eyes.

"As much as I hate waiting we have to do just that," Zira said, ignoring her brother. "Kovu! Come here now!"

"Yes Mother?" the little two month old cub said, running over to his mother.

"Get back to your training!" Zira commanded, pointing towards the training area.

"Yes Mother!" Kovu cried out, running over to the training area.

"Vitani!" Zira shouted. "Nuka! Bring me some food! Now!"

"Yes Mother," the sibling stammered, running off to find their mother food.

"Man this sucks," Nuka was grumbling as he and his sister were gathering food.

"Shh," Vitani hissed, darting her eyes over to Zira. "Don't let Mother hear you. Do you want another beating?"

"Honestly 'Tani I really don't care anymore," Nuka grumbled. "I've got enough scars thanks to dear old Mother." Nuka indicated the scars that were on his face and body when he said this part. "The only reason I even bother staying around is for you and Kovu. I don't want your guys' childhood be even for shitty than it already is. So I'll gladly take the beatings instead of you or him."

"You shouldn't have to take them," Vitani declared. "None of us should."

"Yeah well unfortunately there's not much we can do about it little sis," Nuka said as he pounced on a mouse and killed it. Vitani said nothing, instead she silently went about hunting all the while thinking about how she could get her and her brothers out of this horrible situation.

TLKTLKTLK

The next day at Pride Rock it was time for Kiara and Kion's presentation. Simba and Nala were awaiting the arrival of Rafiki. Tama and Malkia were also there with a sleeping Kopa between Tama's paws. Within moments Rafiki arrived and embrace Simba and Nala. "Ah new life," the old money said, smiling down at the newborn Prince and Princess. Without waiting for a response Rafiki began the ritual. He waved his stick over the twins and spread juices over their heads. He then gently picked up the cubs and carried them to the edge of Pride Rock and held them high in the sky for all the animals to see. The animals all cheered and bowed to their new Prince and Princess. The wind blew around the newborn and threw Rafiki's fur and the mandrill knew Mufasa was watching from above. Simba and Nala, who were standing behind Rafiki also felt the wind blow through their fur. Nala closed her eyes and let out a content sigh. Simba smiled and looked up in the sky. When he looked up Simba could have sworn that he saw Mufasa in the clouds, smiling down at him. Simba looked back down where Rafiki had turned back towards him and Nala. Nala took Kiara in her mouth while Simba took Kion. The Royal couple headed back into the cave to join the others.

"What a perfect day," Nala whispered and she layed down and pulled Kiara and Kion close so they could nurse.

"I agree," Simba whispered as he layed down beside his mate and wrapped his paws around his family.

A couple months past and the cubs were growing nicely. Kion was much like his father: full of energy and always wanting to learn as much as he can about the world around him. Kiara on the other hand was much like her mother: calm and responsible. "C'mon Kopa lets go!" Kion cried out as he ran from the cave, where Kiara was already. Kion was especially excited about today as it was the day that the cubs would be allowed to exit the cave and explore the Pride Lands. Not only were Kion, Kiara and Kopa going but so were two other cubs named Tiifu and Zuri. Tiifu was a pale coated cub with hazel eyes and Zuri was a peach coated cub with blue eyes. They were born shortly after the other three cubs were.

"I'm coming Kion!" Kopa cried out dashing out of the cave with Tiifu and Zuri and their mothers right behind him. Simba, Nala, Tama and Malkia were already waiting for the cubs. Kopa tackled Kion and the two cubs went rolling around on the ground play wrestling.

"Kion," Simba said, gently picking up his two month old son. "I've told you before I don't like you playing rough. You could get hurt."

"You worry too much Dad," Kion said with a grin. Simba couldn't help but smile back at his son. Much like his father no one could resist Kion's smile.

"Daddy can we please go?" Kiara pleaded.

"Now just a minute Kiara," Nala said, coming onto the scene. "We need to go over some rules here."

"Aw man," Kopa grumbled. "No offence Queen Nala but we don't really need rules."

"You most certainty do young lion," Tama said, approaching her son with Malkia right behind her. "Rules are very important. They prevent bad things from happening. Not only to you but to your friends as well."

"But Mom," Kopa began.

"Kopa no arguing with your mother," Malkia said sternly.

"Yes Dad," Kopa said softly. Tiifu and Zuri giggled, amused at their friend getting in trouble. Kopa shot the two cubs a glare.

"Tiifu be quiet right now," Tiifu's mother, Naya said.

"Zuri you too," Zuri's mother, Cala said.

"Yes Mom," the two cubs said together.

"Now you cubs listen to your grandmothers," Simba was instructing his children.

"And for goodness sake no wondering off," Nala said.

"And no going near the gorge," Tama said.

"Ok ok we get it," Kopa said, clearly getting impatient. "Can we go now? Please?"

"Alright," Malkia said with a laugh as he and Tama nuzzled their son.

"Have fun and be careful," Nala said as she and Simba nuzzled their children.

"We will!" the cubs called out as the left with Sarabi and Sarafina right behind them. Little did everyone know that danger would be waiting for the cubs in the most unexpected place.
