Ch 9 Making New Friends

Meanwhile back in the Outlands Zira had received word that Simba's children were going out for the first time. "Perfect," Zira cackled, turning to face Tojo and Vumbi. "Now's our chance to exact our plan."

"I don't know Zira," Vumbi said, looking down at her daughter who was hiding behind Tojo's leg. "Miwa is still so young."

"She can handle it 'Bi," Tojo said after noticing his sister was getting angry. "Can't you sweetie?" Tojo looked down at his young daughter when he said this part.

"Yes Daddy I can," Miwa said softly, looking up at her father with a smile. Then she turned toward Zira and said, "Don't worry Aunt Zira. I won't let you down."

"You had better not," Zira hissed. Then she called out, "Kovu! Come here now!" Within seconds Kovu came running onto the scene with Vitani and Nuka right behind him.

"Yes Mother?" the four month old cub asked.

"Its time to enact our plan," Zira informed her youngest son. "You know what to do."

"Yes Mother I do," Kovu said with a nod. "Me and Miwa are to find Simba's kids and befriend them."

"But we can't make it obvious," Miwa chimed in. "And we can't let them know who our parents are or where we live."

"Then when the time is right we convince them to let us come back to Pride Rock with them," Kovu continued. "And once we have Simba's trust we lure him into a trap."

"Very good you two," Tojo said with a smile as he nuzzled his daughter and nephew. The two cubs smiled back at the pale coated lion.

"You two had better not ness anything up!" Zira snapped, causing the two cubs to jump.

"We won't Aunt Zira," Miwa said softly.

"Yeah we won't fail you Mother," Kovu chimed in. "We promise."

"Good," Zira hissed. "Now go." Without another word Zira turned and left the scene. Tojo shook his head in disgust as he watched his sister go.

"Don't forget to have fun you guys," Tojo said softly as he nuzzled the two cubs.

"And please be careful," Vumbi said as she also nuzzled the cubs.

"We will Aunt Vumbi," Kovu said with a smile.

"You got this bro," Vitani said, head bumping Kovu.

"Yeah go get 'em 'Vu," Nuka said as he too head bumped his brother and cousin.

"Thanks Nuk'," Kovu said with a smile. "C'mon Miwa lets go." With that the two cubs left, heading for the Pride Lands.

Meanwhile back in the Pride Lands the five cubs were walking around the Pride Lands and admiring all the beauty. "Wow the Pride Lands are like freaking huge!" Kopa exclaimed with a smile.

"Yeah and everything is so beautiful," Zuri breathed.

"And flowery," Tiifu said with a giggle as she smelled some lilies that were on a nearby bush.

"And boring," Kion groaned. "Grandma why can't we go anywhere cool?" Kion looked at Sarabi when he said this part.

"And just where would you like to go Kion?" Sarabi asked.

"How should I know?" Kion asked. "I've never left the cave before silly Grandma." Kion giggled when he said this part. Sarabi couldn't help but laugh slightly at her grandson. Kion reminded the tan coated lioness of Simba which always made the former Queen smile.

"I've got an idea," Sarafina said. "Why don't we head to the Grasslands? Its pretty neat there."

"Yeah!" Tiifu cried out.

"That sound so cool!" Kopa exclaimed, his brown eyes wide.

"Can we go right now?" Kiara asked.

"Yeah can we Grandma please?" Kion pleaded, looking at Sarafina with pleading amber eyes.

"Very well we can go," Sarafina said with a chuckle. With that the cubs let out cheers and the group headed for the Grasslands.

Meanwhile Kovu and Miwa were also in the Grasslands. The two cubs were trying to figure out how exactly they were going to find the Prince and Princess. "The Pride Lands are so huge," Miwa was saying. "Its going to be really hard to track them down."

"Yeah," Kovu said with a nod. "I know it is. And its not like we can waltz right up to Pride Rock to find them. That'll be way to obvious."

"For real," Miwa said with a nod. "But how to do we..." Just then Miwa's blue eyes went wide and she gasped. "Kovu look!" she whispered. "They're coming this way!"

"Ah crap they're not alone," Kovu grumbled. "They've got other cubs and two adults with them."

"We better hide," Miwa suggested. "Can't make it seam like we're waiting for them." With that the two cubs hid behind a nearby rock. As the group approached the two cousins watched from behind the rock as the cubs explored.

"What cha doin'?" a voice from behind them asked. Kovu and Miwa jumped and cried out, startled by the sudden voice. Whipping around the saw a young honey badger there, panting for breath as their shouting scared him.

"Geeze why so jumpy?" the honey badger asked with a laugh.

"I'm going to gobble you up for that!" Kovu snarled, clearly unhappy about being scared.

"Hey all I did was ask you what you were doing?" the honey badger said, holding his hands up in front of him. "Its not my fault you two got scared." Just then Kion came running over with the rest of the group right behind him.

"What's going on?" the golden Prince asked. "We heard screaming."

"Yeah that was us," Miwa admitted, looking down at the ground. "He scared us." Miwa nodded at the honey badger when she said this part.

"By accident!" the honey badger said, throwing his hands in the air. "Sheesh talk about touchy."

"I know you," Sarabi said. "You're Bunga aren't you? The little honey badger Timon and Pumbaa took in."

"That's me," Bunga said with a smile. "And you're Queen Sarabi right? King Simba's Mom. And these must be his kids. Prince Kion and Princess Kiara."

"That's us," Kiara said with a smile of her own. "And these are our friend: Tiifu, Zuri and Kopa."

"Hi ya!" Kopa said with a smile.

"Hi ya yourself," Bunga said, still smiling. Just then a little white egret came flying in.

"Hapana!" the egret cried out. "Is anyone hurt? I heard screaming!"

"Everyone is fine Ono," Sarabi said with a smile.

"Whew that's a relief," Ono said with a sigh.

"You wanna stay and play with us?" Kion asked.

"Really?" Ono asked. Kion and the rest of the group nodded and the small bird smiled. "Sure! I'd like that!"

"I'm Kion by the way," Kion said. "And this is my sister Kiara and our friends; Kopa, Tiifu, Zuri and Bunga." Kion nodded at each of his friends when he said this part.

"And who are they?" Ono asked, indicating Miwa and Kovu.

"Hey yeah who the heck are you guys anyway?" Bunga asked. "And why were you hiding behind that rock?"

"We were scared," Kovu said, thinking quickly. "I was uh showing my little sister, Miwa the lands. Its her first time out and our mother warned us about stranger danger so we hid just in case it was bad guys."

"That makes sense," Kiara said with a nod. "So she's Miwa but you never said your name."

"Of right silly me," Kovu said with a laugh. "My name's K...uh I mean Uongo."

"Uongo?" Kopa said wrinkling his brow. "But that means false. Why would your parents give you a name like that?"

"Kopa that's not very nice," Sarabi scolded.

"Its ok," Kovu said with a smile. "I'm used to it."

"Do you and your sister want to play with us?" Zuri asked.

"Sure we do!" Miwa exclaimed.

"Alright well you children have fun," Sarabi said with a laugh.

"And please be back by dark," Sarafina said.

"We will," the cubs said together. With that Sarabi and Sarafina left, leaving the cubs alone. Little did the two lionesses know that their decision would be a deadly mistake.
