Ch 10 New Adventures
As Sarabi and Sarafina walked back towards Pride Rock Sarabi suddenly stopped. "What's wrong Sara'?" Sarafina asked.
"I just have a feeling that we shouldn't have left the cub alone," the tan lioness said.
"Of Sarabi they'll be fine," Sarafina said with a laugh. "You worry to much."
"Simba wouldn't like it one bit," Sarabi declared after another minute of thinking. "I think we should go back."
"Well how about this," Sarafina said. "How about we talk a little walk and if after our walk you still feel uneasy then we'll go back. Ok?"
"Well alright," Sarabi said with a smile. With that the two lionesses continued their walk around the Pride Lands.

Meanwhile back in the Grasslands the cubs were having the time of their lives. "This is great!" Kovu cried out.
"Yeah," Miwa said with a giggle. "This is way more fun than at home." Then a thought came to the pale cub. "Hey Kovu how come you lied about your name? And how come you said I was your sister?"
"It just came out," Kovu whispered back. "And I mean you are kind of like my sister anyways so it wasn't much of a lie. And I had to lie about my name. Kovu literally means scar. They'd know right away I was Zira's son."
"So you choose a name that means false?" Miwa whispered.
"It was the first name that came to mind," Kovu hissed. "Now shut up before someone overhears you."
"Hey Uongo are you are your sister playing or what?" Kopa called out, sounding annoyed.
"Yeah we're coming!" Kovu called back as he and Miwa ran back to join the group, who were all set to play a game of tag. As the cubs were running they came to the river bed.
"Whoa!" Kiara cried out as she skidded to a stop right before she went into the water.
"What's the matter Kiara afraid of a little water?" Kovu asked with a laugh.
"I can't swim Uongo," Kiara informed the brown coated cub.
"Oh," Kovu said softly. "I'm sorry. I didn't know."
"It ok Uongo," Kiara said with a smile. Kovu couldn't help but smile back at the golden brown lioness cub. There was something about Kiara that Kovu instantly liked. He tried to shake these feelings and stick to the plan. Just then he heard giggling followed by shouting.
"Kopa quit it!" Tiifu was shouting as Kopa chased her around with a dead bug on a stick in his mouth. "Get away from me with that disgusting thing!"
"AH c'mon Tiif' its just a bug," Kopa said with a giggle.
"Kopa knock it off," Kion said, rolling his eyes and shaking his head.
"Ah you're not my boss," Kopa muttered. But the light gold cub dropped the stick anyways.
"Sheesh you were about to waste a perfectly good grub," Bunga said, shaking his head and removing the bug and popping it into his mouth.
"Eww gross," Zuri cried out, wrinkling her brow and sticking her tongue out.
"Ahh lighten up Zuri," Bunga said with a laugh. However he wasn't paying attention to where he was going and accidently bumped in Miwa. The pale coated cub stumbled and fell into Kovu and he bumped into Kion. The golden cub lost his balance and fell into the river.
"Kion!" Kiara shouted, her amber eyes wide as she knew her brother didn't know how to swim.
"I got him!" Kovu shouted, jumping into the water to save Kion. But the water was deep and Kovu was having trouble finding Kion. "I can't see him!" the brown coated cub shouted.
"Look!" Miwa shouted, pointing over river bank just down from them. A small hippo was swimming towards them with Kion on his nose.
"Kion!" the group cried out, running over to the hippo, who placed Kion on the ground.
"Are you alright Kion?!" Kiara cried out as she watched her twin cough up water and gasp for air.
"Yeah," Kion gasped. "I...I'm alright." Then he turned towards the hippo and said, "Thank you for saving me."
"No problem," the hippo said with a smile. "I'm Beshte by the way."
"I'm Kion," Kion said with a smile. "And this is my sister Kiara. And our friends..." But before Kion could continue he heard a familiar voice call his name.
"Kion!" Simba cried out, running over to his son. "Are you alright son? Ono came and got me. He said you had fallen into the river."
"I'm alright Dad," Kion said as Simba checked him over for injuries. "Really I am. Beshte saved me."
"Well thank you for saving my son," Simba said, smiling at the young hippo. "But I really think I should take you home and let Rafiki look at you."
"But Dad..." Kion pretested.
"No buts Kion," Simba said, picking Kion up by his scruff and carrying him away. "Kiara come." Kiara let out a sigh and followed her father back towards Pride Rock.
"We'd better go to," Tiifu said with a sigh. With the she, Zuri and Kopa walked back towards Pride Rock while the rest of the young animals headed back to their respected homes as well.

A little while later the group was back at Pride Rock. "Zazu get Rafiki please," Simba said as he placed the still wet Kion on the ground. Just then Nala came up to Simba. When she saw her wet son her eyes went wide.
"What happened?!" the queen cried out, pulling her son close and nuzzling him. "Oh Kion honey are you alright?"
"I'm fine Mom," Kion said, slightly annoyed at all the fuss that his parents were making. "Really I am. I just fell in the river that's all. Its not a big deal."
"Almost drowning in most certainly a big deal," Simba said, sounding a bit angry.
"I didn't almost drown Dad," Kion said. "Beshte saved me." Simba opened his mouth to protest when Rafiki came onto the scene. The mandrill gently shooed Simba and Nala out so he could examine the Prince.

Once Simba and Nala were outside Simba turned towards Kiara. "Kiara I'm very disappointed in you," the golden King said. "Sneaking away from your grandmothers was a very foolish thing to do."
"But Daddy I didn't sneak away," Kiara informed her father.
"Yeah King Simba Queen Sarabi and Mrs. Sarafina left us," Kopa chimed in.
"Did they now?" Simba said, his voice having a slight edge to it. Just then Sarabi and Sarafina came onto the scene.
"Simba how's Kion?" Sarabi asked, the concern clear in her voice.
"Rafiki's still looking at him," Simba informed his mother. "But I'm glad you're both here. I need to speak with you both." Without waiting for a response Simba motioned for Sarabi and Sarafina to follow hos behind Pride Rock. After exchanging confused looks the two lionesses followed the King.

Once Simba, Sarabi and Sarafina were alone Simba turned towards his mother and mother-in-law. "Simba..." Sarabi began. But she was immediately cut of by her son's angry voice.
"Mother whatever you're about to say save it," Simba snapped. "I'm very angry with the both of you."
"Simba please," Sarafina began. But like Sarabi the creamy lioness was also cut off by Simba's shouting.
"I'm speaking Sarafina," the golden King growled. Sarafina blinked in surprise, shocked at the way Simba was speaking to her. "I trusted you both with my cubs' today," Simba continued. "And you failed me."
"Simba please," Sarabi tried again. "If we had known anything was going to happen we would have never left."
"You shouldn't have left to begin with Mother!" Simba shouted. "Kion could have died today!"
"Simba we're so sorry about that," Sarafina said.
"You should be!" Simba growled. "And just to let you both know it's going to be a very long time before I trust either one with my kids!" Without another word Simba turned and left, leaving a devastated Sarabi and Sarafina behind.
