Ch 11 Clearing the Air
Simba joined the others and sat beside Nala with an angry grunt. Nala looked over at his mate with a raised eyebrow. Her expression then turned to confusion when Sarabi and Sarafina returned, both lionesses still shaken from their encounter with Simba. Nala leaned close to Simba and said, "What did you say to them?"
"I just said what was needed," Simba declared.
"Simba..." Nala began.
"Nala this isn't the time and place for this discussion," Simba said with a little force. Nala was about to say more when Rafiki emerged from the cave. Simba and Nala ran up to the mandrill.
"Rafiki how's my baby?" Nala asked.
"De Prince will be just fine," Rafiki said with a smile. "He only swallowed a small amount of water."
"Thank the Kings for that," Simba said with a sigh. Without waiting for a response Simba headed into the cave.
"Thank you Rafiki," Nala said as she followed her mate into the cave to check on their son

A few seconds later Simba and Nala were sitting next to their son. "Kion what were you thinking going so close to the water?" Simba asked as he nuzzled his shivering son.
"I...I'm sorry D...Dad," Kion said through chattering teeth. "I d...didn't mean to."
"Kion we'll discuss this later," Nala said, wrapping her paws around her son and pulling him close to keep him warm.
"No we'll discuss this now," Simba said, a little force in his voice.
"Simba Kion's had a rough day," Nala said, giving her mate a look. "And he's obviously chilled to the bone. I think he's entitled to some rest don't you think?" Simba opened his mouth to protest but then he looked down at his shivering son and he quickly changed his mind.
"Alright," Simba said with a smile. "We'll discuss this tomorrow." Just then Kiara approached her parents, looking very tired.
"I'm hungry," the golden brown Princess said with a yawn.
"Come lets get you fed," Nala said, getting to her feet. Simba layed down beside Kion, who was sound asleep, and pulled him close while Nala took Kiara up top to get her some food.
"I will keep you safe Kion," Simba said softly, licking the top of Kion's head. "Nothing bad will happen to you or your sister. I sware on my father's grave." With that Simba gave Kion another lick and waited for his mate and daughter to return.

A week past and things were going smoothly at Pride Rock. Simba had finally allowed Kion to exit the cave after three days even though Rafiki gave no limitations to the Prince's mobility since there was no real injury to the Prince. This was only because Nala insisted on it. But Simba still wasn't talking much to his mother or Sarafina and he insisted on someone keeping an eye on his cubs at all time. On this particular day Timon and Pumbaa were put in charge of the cubs. As much as Kion and Kiara hated it they knew there'd be no use in arguing with their father on the matter. So they just decided to make the best of things and went about playing as normally as possible. Today Kion and Kiara were in the Grasslands where they had been meeting up with Kovu and Miwa everyday. Most days Kopa, Tiifu and Zuri would join them. Along the way the had met a young cheetah named Fuli and she Ono, Beshte and Bunga enjoyed playing with cubs their own age. "Man this is great!" Bunga cried out as he swung on a branch and landed on top of Kion's head. Kion laughed as he ran around with Bunga on his head.
"Kovu we're supposed to be getting Kiara and Kion alone remember?" Miwa hissed in her cousin's ear. Kovu was distracted as he watched Kiara try to catch a butterfly. Kovu laughed and shook his head as the golden brown Princess once again failed to catch the insect. "Kovu!" Miwa hissed, causing her cousin to snap out of it.
"Huh?" the brown coated lion cub said, shaking his head. "Did you say something Miwa?"
"Yes I said something," Miwa growled, narrowing her blue eyes at her cousin. "I said we'd better figure out a way to get Kion and Kiara alone. Aunt Zira has already been pushing the issue."
"Yeah tell me something I don't know," Kovu grumbled. "Mother's always grumbling about something."
"Hey Uongo!" Kiara called out startling Kovu. "You comin' to play or what?"
"Yeah c'mon Miwa come play with us!" Kopa called out.
"We're coming!' Kovu called back. Then he whispered to Miwa, "We'll talk later. Ok?"
"Sure," Miwa said with a smile. With that the two young cubs rejoined the others so they can play.

Later that day the cubs were back at Pride Rock. Simba decided to pull his cubs aside and ask them about their new friends. "Kion I need to speak with you and Kiara," Simba said, causing his children to look at him with surprise.
"Ok Dad," Kion said, looking over at his twin, who shrugged. With that the two cubs walked up to their father.
"What'd you wanna talk to us about Daddy?" Kiara asked.
"I just wanted to ask you guys about your new friends," Simba said. "Tell me about them."
"Well there's Bunga," Kion said. "He's a honey badger."
"Yes I know about him," Simba said with a smile. "Timon and Pumbaa introduced me to him when they took him in."
"And there's Fuli," Kiara chimed in. "She's a cheetah. She's so cool Daddy. She's really fast and smart."
"Don't forget about Ono," Kion chimed in. "He's an egret. He's pretty cool too. He can see better than any animal in the Pride Lands!"
"And there's Beshte," Kiara continued. "He's a hippo."
"Ah yes Basi and Bapole's son," Simba said with a nod. "I've met him before as well. He's a very sweet young hippo."
"And he's super strong too!" Kion cried out. "He can flip a great big rock with no effort at all Dad!" Simba chuckled at his son's amazement.
"And there's Uongo and Miwa," Kiara said. "They're brother and sister. But they're not twins like me and Kion are."
"And what kind of animals are they?" Simba asked.
"They're lion cubs like we are," Kion informed his father. Simba's eyes went wide when he heard his son say this.
"And where did you say they lived?" Simba asked, trying not to growl.
"In the Grasslands I think," Kion said, wrinkling his brow in thought. "I'm not really sure though. I never asked."
"And they live there with their parents?" Simba asked.
"I think its just their Mom," Kion said. "They didn't mention having a Dad."
"Kion you know I don't like rogues in my lands," Simba said, his voice having a slight edge to it.
"I...I know that Dad," Kion said, wincing slightly at his father's tone.
"And you didn't think to tell me about two cubs and their parents living in my lands?" Simba asked. "Either one of you?" Simba looked at Kiara when he said this part. Just then Nala came onto the scene.
"Simba that's enough," the creamy coated lioness said. "For Goodness sake they're just cubs."
"I'm sorry," Simba said, feeling bad that he had snapped at his children. "I didn't mean to snap at you guys."
"Its alright Dad," Kion said with a smile.
"Yeah we know you don't mean to be so mean to us," Kiara said with a smile of her own. Simba smiled back at his children and nuzzled them.
"I love you both so much," the golden King whispered.
"We love you to Dad," Kion said, nuzzling into Simba's red mane.
"And we're sorry we didn't tell you about Uongo and Miwa," Kiara said.
"Don't even worry about that," Simba said. "Just please tell them I'd like to have a meeting with their mother. Just to get properly introduced."
"Sure thing Dad," Kion said with a yawn.
"That will have to wait until tomorrow," Nala said. "Its bedtime for the both of you." With that Nala picked up Kion while Simba picked up Kiara and they both carried their children inside the cave for the night.
A/N well folks ch 11 over and done. Hope you all enjoyed it. Review please.
